Anyone have this issue? Whenever I shut my phone down and plug it in, it boots into clockwork mod after about 10 seconds. Is there a way to charge the phone without it even turning on? Im trying to see if my charging issues are due to the abismal kernel these phones have, or something else. It seems HTC packed in a nice 10% trickle discharge to this phone which could easily be the cause of everyones battery issues.
Either way, I cant charge the phone when its off... it keeps turning on into CWM. Tired of my battery dropping to 93% after 5 minutes of being unplugged... And yes ive tried calibrating it.
This is mentioned/discussed in numerous threads in the general section already, and also in the rooting instructions thread...
Cant find it :\ Been looking. was there a remedy?

Didnt fix anything. I found the thread about this, but they seem to not have a fix there either. This didnt work for everyone.
How do you remove CWM and let the stock recovery always load? I just want to disable it for a bit until I can bump charge the battery, then put it back on.
fastboot mode appears to be some sort of hibernate mode by the way it works; with that in mind, your phone never really turns off with it, which is why you don't get the clockwork boot after turning that feature on. This would suggest that it's a bit of a battery drainer by itself. Does fastboot "off" charging behave as expected? That is, like a non-rooted phone?
As far as bump charging, not sure about restoring stock recovery, or that it would address the issue. Supposedly the phone charges in clockwork anyways. You could bump charge with a third party charger for battery only, if they're out yet.

I was thinking about a 3rd party charger for this... hmmm
Anyone getting several random reboots a day from their Evo3D? I am having that issue including the screen not turning on and then rebooting.
Nope. Turn off Fastboot. Turn off the phone. Hold Volume down + Power. Reset.
When I hold the power and volume down do I do a factory reset from Hboot?
Still getting random reboots after turning off fastboot in settings.

weird, no problems here.
I got a similar problem here except mines happens whenever I try to run a couple applications at the same time.
mine was doing it, it would lock up too and have to pull the battery to reset it
I returned the phone after all the TS'ing failed, and my 2nd one's not doing it
Yep. Mine just did 5 reboots in a row. No joke. All I did was try to go into Skins. That's when it completely froze up, restarted and it won't stop. I just bought the thing not more than 3 hours ago. I can't figure out what the problem is. It sometimes goes past the boot screen but after the HTC Splash screen the screen goes black with nothing but the Hot buttons at the bottom on.

Perform a Factory Reset. That will likely solve the issue. You can search the forum or google the instructions.

Can I get into recovery if I'm not rooted? The phone goes passed the splash screen then goes blank.
Edit. I didn't know hboot had that option. I'm trying it now. Thanks.
EDIT
Thanks, that did the trick.
Edit.
Nope. Even after a factory reset it continues to reboot.

This may or may not work, but pull the data off your sd card if you have any, if not, don't worry about it. Pull it from the phone, format it on your computer (just a quick format should work) put it back in your phone then perform another factory reset. See if that helps. My first one reboot randomly several times when I first got it and that seemed to help for a while. If it happens again, call Sprint and tell them what's happening and have them send you another one. I had to do that. I have 35 days before I have to send my old one back, that gives me plenty of time to play with the new one and see if I can recreate the issue. So far...it's working perfectly. This is an awesome phone, but getting new technology when it first comes out, I expect bugs.

I would have Sprint replace that thing, for sure.

Have you tried running the RUU? I'm trying to convince myself that it's a software problem because I have a perfect screen.

I had the same problem with one of my 3Ds. I took it back and they exchanged it no problem.
Took mine to the store and they gave me a brand new one since it was in the 30 Days. This one works perfectly
....i'm on my third one now, sprint told me this was the last time they will replace it...im having the same issue....black screen, low reception, restart, and battery life sucks on this one the other ones were perfect on battery life....hope they fix it.
i have the issues for several days. fixed without hard reset
1) uninstall all 3rd party app killer. ATM, ATK, juicy defender
2) use evo task manager to kill apps when memory below 100m
3) restart the phone, and turn off the phone again.
4) if your phone restart within 20sec, then your phone is in good condition
the reboot can be caused by
1) 3rd party app killer
2) low memory or extreme CPU usuage(3d camera and music play and lot of background app sametime)
3) hot battery
4) bad cache and improper restart. if reboot once, it will continue reboot, the memory seems have bad cache, you need to manualy turn if off safely and restart again.
i cannot be more satisified with the battery. don't use any atm atk or juicy defender, they are battery killer.
decrease display brightness, disable GPS.
i play online stream music for 8hrs on wifi and still have 40% battery left. no other phone can do this.
Happened to me as well, after 5 random reboots within the first 4 hours of having the phone and then not being able to boot it up at all I returned it and got a new one, fine so far only 1 random reboot in 3 days.
My reboots are very different and never when I'm using the phone but rather when I try to use the phone. With my phone obviously being on, I would press the power button but the screen would stay black. I would press it again and still nothing, then immediately after the screen would flash the lockscreen and then go black and immediately after that it reboots to the HTC screen. This happens everyday, sometimes 4-5 times a day. Anybody else seeing this exact behavior?
When i take a picture even though the screen before the picture is 3d, as soon as i take it, it goes 2d and looks like there is 3 versions of the picture all moved along eachother.
The switch on the side is set to 3d...
Any one else experiencing this?
Have you reboot your phone yet to see if the fixes it ?

Yeah tried that.. Still the same...
Sometimes the 3D gets buggy on my phone. It will get fixed with a complete reboot. Try rebooting more than once, or turn of fastboot and then reboot.
I found out that you can't do a "full" reboot without doing a battery pull.
It seems like the phone is never really turned off if you don't do a battery pull.
Take the battery out and put it back in than then try and power the phone on, and see if that helps the problem.

Thanks to both of you.
My battery was low, (about 15%), so i charged it to 50%, turned off, took battery out for 10 seconds, replaced it, turned on and its fine!
So i dont know if its a low battery thing or what as the photos i took were still weird at 50% but it took 3d and is 3d after!
Weird...
Hi,
My Evo 3D was working fine, and then all of a sudden (no physical or moisture damage) it shut off and will not reboot.
Tried battery pull, tried several chargers. The LED goes red for about 2 seconds, then turns off, screen doesn't do anything.
If I unplug the phone, the LED stays red for a few seconds but is incredibly dim, then turns off.
The phone is rooted, but I am not running a custom rom at the moment.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks.
delete...........
????????????
Do youve got a custom recovery?

Yes on my sd, but I can't get into bootloader.. sorry i'm quite new at this.
Same thing happened to mine. By the time I took it to Sprint, the red light wouldn't come on at all. You'll need a replacement.
Hello,
I had the same thing.
You must conncect the phone to pc than go to the dirctory where you have installed adb and try adb reboot boatloder
You will see that the phone waked up.
Thats what i did and works for me.
sorry for my bad englisch
Thanks! I appreciate the help

some other help? the same thing happened to me today, but i cant open the mobile folder in pc when i plug it... it is here though
i updated clockwork recovery via rom manager today.. so its related?
edit: i already tryed another batterry and it didnt helped but it seems it is working now again just like that...
you have CWM which does not let charge while off (your battery is probably dead) flash revolutionary recovery...the only stable recovery for the GSM E3D out
i have the exact same problem, i am running clockwork mod (rooted) and with a flat battery the light will only come on for a few secs then drop out again, I did finally get the thing to charge and the best explanation i can give is a bit vague im sorry but i was so frustrated and trying so many things at once, just keep it plugged in , I know the light wont be on but there must be a trickle of a charge, eventualy I was able to boot holding what I remember to be the power and the camera button, slowly it crawled back to life, first just the splash screen (45secs) then the touchkeys lit, then a full boot, I then hit the wifi off button the second the homescreen loaded and very quickly turned the screen off so as to minimise the battery usage as it would have been only just bootable... the orange light remained and after 10 mins or so i was game enough to pop the screen back on (3% charge after 10 mins so be careful) and confirm that all was not lost... the date and time remained in tact..
so you can boot/charge from flat, but only just and only if you stuff about and trick it into life. I know this info has more or less been covered before but I hope it helps somewhat.
*my nokia 5210 stayed charged for more than half a week... grumble grumble
ok,adb reboot boatloder helped me. thanks for sharing. i knew that cwm recovery has this problem but i just thought that i broke my phone....pff...stupid recovery.
Had the same problem. Take battery out, put it back, hold power button and connect charger. A splash screen should appear.
What custom recovery are you running.if its cwm well that may be the culprit I had the same problem if you can get it to boot I advise you to use 4ext recovery that's what I'm using as my custom recovery and it works perfect and I no longer have the issue's that your having you should look into it good luck
Sent from my Evo 3D Gsm s off using Xda premium
Also see if you can boot into Bootloader if you can then you can flash another custom recovery like revolutionary version of cwm that will get you going

"keep it plugged in , I know the light wont be on but there must be a trickle of a charge, eventualy I was able to boot holding what I remember to be the power and the camera button"
This worked!
I have a rooted Samsung Vibrant running Slim Bean 3.0 on Semaphore kernel. Sometimes, when the device crashes (usually from overload) it will begin to reboot, starting at the boot animation (skipping the "Vibrant Samsung" screen) and boot to a seemingly normal state, the only problems being:
The cell network is disconnected. If I go into or out of airplane mode it gets stuck while changing. It doesn't matter how good my reception is, it has the "no service" icon and will not call or text.
Sometimes, the battery indicator gets screwed up, it will display 2-5%, even if I know it is much higher. This false reading is duplicated in recovery mode. I can get it back to normal either by waiting, or by charging the phone while it is off. If i perform the latter, the opposite will sometimes happen, with it showing a power level much higher than it should be. Like the former, it will slowly creep back to normal. (This occasionally happens during a normal reboot (though never a power off and on) so it might be a separate issue) Another note about this: Once, when the battery was showing an amount I knew to be falsely high, I was (stupidly) using it, and the phone suddenly crashed in the weirdest way I have seen: It stopped responding to anything (except a later battery pull. I don't remember if the softkey backlights worked) and the screen got colored lines running vertically along it. I speculated that it might have run out of power and the battery voltage dropped low enough to start causing problems.
Sorry about the wall of text. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Are you using deep idle? It is notoriously unstable and will require battery pull if the phone shuts off from it. Also uv'ing or oc'ing to extreme can cause the soft reboots.
I have a similar battery "fluke" when rebooting while charging. It will jump from 10% to 70%. Idk why this happens but saw it on PA and HB.

No, I don't think I have deep idle on, and anyways, I never need to pull the battery, just reboot normally.
