I was just curious has anyone who recently purchased the evo 3d experinced any type of dust issues or have they been ironed out
Every phone will suffer from dust issues. It really will depend where you live also. If you encounter dust in a frequent basis, you're bound to get it.

not sure i know the dust issues you're referring to?
i know in comparison to my release day EVO, this EVO3D seems built a bit better. the bottom of the screen doesnt seem to flex as much and the edges seem a bit tighter. i would def say this device has a much smaller probability of dust slipping in than my EVO did...
i mean with out of the box dust issues similar to the issues with tilted screens, when i first purchased the phone it had dust under the screen just curious if current pruchase showing any dust out of the box
I got my GSM evo 3d from Hong Kong. It was sealed box n when I opened it, plastic film and screen was covered in dust. One clean wipe solve everything =)

I've looked a bit, but haven't found any pictures of the EVO3D laying flat. Obviously, there was an issue with the EVO4G allowing contact with the camera glass when layed flat.
Any idea if this is still an issue with the 3D?
Probably not the answer you're looking for, but I leave my EVO on its back on all kinds of surfaces. I'm pretty picky about scratching glass/lenses/etc with my hardware, and I've never had a single issue with the EVO getting scuffed, scratched, etc.
I do however notice that others with EVOs put cases on them and lay them on the face, which I think has a lot more potential for damage, case or no case. I think people are just paranoid since it sticks out.
Unless you're laying your Evo's lens on gravel or sandpaper, why really worry?
You're probably right, but I can't help but be a bit paranoid about scratching it.
It's funny, because I don't even use a case. I have one of those plastic rings to raise the back a bit.

No way op, no problems ever .... And I haven't been terribly careful
At all. My phone is usually out of the case, always camera side down at work and home on my desks....and at first I was paranoid. About scratches...but after a while a came to the conclusion that HTC probably thought about that for me....

I wonder if adding a screen protector to the Evo 3D will cause issues with viewing 3D pictures/videos/movies. Maybe not, but still something to think about...

Not probable

I never understood screen protectors... I've had a release day HeroC and never had any screen issues. (Same with ol' wifey)
IMO, screen protectors look okay for a week or two then either come off at the corners or have small circles of non-contact. Either way, I think they aren't necessary and may even decrease touch screen sensitivity.
IMO, they obviously have thought of screen protection in the building of the phones. But I guess if you like the belt-&-suspenders look by all means play on, Playa.
EDIT- we also have two daughters that tinker with the phones with who knows what all over their little hands. Still no screen problems ever.

there was a good post over at phandroid about screen protectors. Doesn't get into the 3D question but still worth a read.

I'm not looking to get one of the cheap ones. I'll be getting one with the anti-glare that doesn't leave finger prints and what not. I just know it's a little different, and I wonder if it will cause issues. We'll just have to wait and see. Either way, I can use my phone without a screen protector. Been doing it for years, but I'd like to invest in a nice anti-glare cover.
Was wondering what's the best way to fix small scratches on my screen.just little ones from keys tapping the screen
Sent from my HTC EVO 3D X515a using XDA App
Stop letting your keys tap the screen... And should of had a screen protector installed to prevent this...
There isn't anything you can do to fix them now except replace the screen...
Shot from my shooter in 3D

Try flashing a different Rom.. worked for me.
Magic eraser works great! Mr. Clean is da man.
Maybe I need to fix the question...I have tiny little dot scratches no bigger than a pin head.the screen is not broken so doesn't need replaced.
I am on my providers stock ROM with bloatware and i have no need to flash a custom ROM.
And to be honest I don't even.need to fix the scratches, although I did ask for a suggestion on how to fix them

I have heard of very few success stories when it comes to repairing the glass of a touch screen phone regardless if its a EVO 4G or 3D . I myself ran into a similar issue due to the "unscratchable" screen of the EVO 4g getting scratched after only having it for 4 hours . Apparently the paper towel and cleaner was just to much for it . You have one of two options here . 1.Replace the whole screen . Sprint wont help you on this situation mainly due to the fact they will play the "Its cosmetic damage" 2.Get a screen protector installed , mainly a screen protector like ZAG . I know some dont like Zag screen protectors but I had installed one on my EVO 4G and it covered up the scratch . Yeah I now had an orange peel effect (they might have improved their design by now Im not sure). In the end you are going to have to choose which lesser evil and go from there .

Honestly with tiny scratches like that if you DO get a screen protector it covers them up; you can't see them anymore. I did and it worked.
A great screen protector is XO SKINS. They don't get orange peel ever like most others do, and they have a lifetime warranty. You can order from the website or if you find a kiosk they'll put it on for free; a lot easier.
Also they are pretty inexpensive compared to others of the same quality.
Has anyone had this happen to them?? Mines is separating from the screen on the whole left side.

I have the same problem with my phone. The entire left side of the screen bezel has detached itself from the phone. I now have a 6mm visible gap at the left edge of the screen and bezel. I can see some sort of adhesive residue on the inside of the bezel and some sort of slots on the phone where the bezel rests, but the bezel has no cleat to slide into these slots? I have no idea how to fix this. Epoxy maybe?? Anyone else having this issue?

Sent from my HTC Evo 3D using XDA
I super glued mine once and it came loose again. So I superguled the **** out of it yesterday. So far so good.
I took mine to Sprint to see if they would fix it under warranty. They specifically told me not to use superglue as it reacts to something in the phone and may cause the phone damage. Also, superglue can be compromised with constant heat, which the phone outputs when you are using it a lot or if you have certain roms and kernels installed. I'd suggest Epoxy. It is good under heat and Sprint didn't say the phone would react to it.

So sprint wouldn't replace the back cover for you?
I was hiking this weekend and slipped on a loose rock and fell. My EVO 4G LTE was in my front pocket and I landed face down. I got up and pulled the phone out to see no visible damage. A little while later I wanted to snap picture of this tiny salamander and found my phone to be non-functional. There are white lines going up and down the screen and it appears to be stuck in a boot loop.
I just started to get some real love out of this phone thanks to CM10 and I have a tough choice to make if I can't pull out some miracle fix. Do I switch to AT&T and ditch Sprint's crappy service? Do I get a GSIII or wait for something better?
I would really like a Nexus phone but I don't know when the next one is to be released.
EDIT: It seems I was incorrect about there being no damage. I just discovered a small dent on the back of the phone just above the speaker hole.
this is why you need a case homie
Cool stor......
Nevermind.
Bring it into sprint. Pay the 35 bucks to get a replacement. I would consider that a manufacturer flaw.

I actually had my phone fall out of my pocket while on a carnival ride over 30 yards in the air. I was able to use a friends phone to log into my Cerberus account and track it. I could see a satellite view of the park and the tent next to the ride to be sure I lost it there, and not somewhere else. I went around to the back of the ride where the red dot indicated and saw my phone face down. I was sure the glass would be destroyed. To my surprise it was perfect, not a single scratch. The phone also operated 100%. There was a considerable chunk taken out of the right corner aluminum frame and a few smaller nicks further down on the aluminum. There was a bunch of paint on the top left corner (also aluminum) from the machine.
I think that's a testament to the aluminum body of the EVO LTE and to the gorilla glass. co-worker with EVO 4G dropped his from 2 feet off the ground. the corner hit the ground and the glass spidered out.
anyway, sorry to hear your phone is jacked now. Take it back to the store and see about replacement. Maybe you had the insurance?

That is an amazing story. I got a outer box defender case and have dropped it many times and it seems to be hanging in there.
I did not have a case. Never used them. That is neither here not there because what's done is done.
I do not have insurance as this phone is through work. They are trying to switch us to AT&T anyway and I'm one the last holdouts on Sprint because I really wanted the new EVO. I love the hardware of this phone but I can't justify getting another and being handicapped to low-grade DSL speeds when I don't have access to WiFi. It's no secret that 3G has sucked balls the last year or so and I don't see LTE coming to North Jersey (my area) any time soon.

I guess you're kind of right. It has Gorilla Glass 2.
To the OP, sorry to hear about the phone. Sucks when they go down hard like that, with all the work that goes into getting them dialed in.
We have an S3 and an EvoLTE in the family right now. Wife had to have Sprint do a hard reset on her S3 on it yesterday to see if it would fix some odd issues it's having. She's still inside the first 14 days and is thinking hard about swapping it to an EvoLTE. Her mom has the EvoLTE as well, and it's also been issue free, like mine has been. I'm not really impressed with the S3, FWIW.

If the job is providing phones then by all means, go for it. If it were coming out of your pocket then I'd say hold out, North Jersey is getting LTE this year:
http://s4gru.com/index.php?/blog/1/...-sprint-network-visionlte-deployment-in-2012/
However you've got to get onboard with a "Just in case" case, preferably Otterbox. I don't use my Otterbox, unless I'm traveling or in a location with a lot of Marble.

The glass wasn't an issue because the phone was in my pocket with the screen facing my leg. The aluminum body hit a rock when I fell and that's how it got dented. If anything, this is a good argument against the aluminum body construction. If it was plastic, it would have just bent a little or maybe cracked. The relatively soft aluminum bent and either shorted the motherboard or cracked it. In time I may find a torx screwdriver small enough to open it up and find out. In the meantime, I'm up and running on my OG Evo. It's really tough going back to gingerbread after tasting the sweetness of Jelly Bean.
