[Q] How do I set mp3 as notification? - HTC EVO 3D

I cant seem to set an mp3 sound bite as my message notification sound. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks
Sent from my EVO 3D w/ Tapatalk

create folders on sdcard like so (unless they're there, then place in correct folder) :
sdcard
/media
/audio
/notifications
/nameof your.mp3
reboot, set as desired.
Also, you could get the app "ringdroid" and set whatever mp3 you want/create them too...

Cool bud thanks! Ill give that a go and check out that app.

[Q] Androidify Problem

I installed Androidify and it works until i press share, then get FC. Im running cm7 58. Is anybody else having this trouble?
On wildpuzzle 0.8 works perfectly fine.

same thing here.
You can save it though, and it will go to a folder Pictures/androidify in ur sdcard, saved as an 800x800 png.
Ok. Thanks. My gallery doesn't seem to update immediately. Updates with a reboot though. Weird
Use extended controls and use the media scanner toggle. It refreshes the media on your sd card.

Ringtone Issue

Okay so I have a feeling there is a simple fix bit I've tried everything I know on how to fix this. I have ringtones on my memory card that was working find on my Evo 4G and now that I have my 3D it will not let me set them as a ringtone. It doesn't even show up in the list of ringtones like it used too. I can play them in the file explorer that I have but it the option to apply as ringtones doesn't work. the files are .ogg
I have it set up Luke this
SD Card - media - notifications
It has always worked like this since I had my G1 I don't know what has changed. I haven't done the OTA.
If they are .ogg files u may have to place em in the proper folder...
Bussin Caps from my 3D shooter
I just made sure that ringtones were in the ringtones folder, notifications in notifications folder, all under the sdcard - media - audio folder. That seemed to work for me. My custom alarms are the same, in the alarms folder.
Just thought I would post that i fixed the issue. For some weird reason I had to format my memory card and put everything back on it so my phone would recognize the folders I had created.

can't use mp3 file as a ringtone

The easiest way I have found is to use file manager or root explorer, or something similar and find your mp3 you want as a ringtone and move it or copy it to ringtone--> audio-->, notifications-->, ringtone and save it there (note the steps I listed are using file manger...your steps may have slightly different names) the point is to move it where all the ringtones are stored on your sd card. After moving how every many mp3's you want, now go to your setting to change a ringtone as you normally would but this time your mp3's will also be In the list! Select and enjoy!

I've already thought about that but unfortunately, I can't reach the ringtone folder- how can I find it?
I hate a program called rings extended. Makes it easy.

But there is an available solution for me, except another apk?
Use file manager or any app like that : Just go to sdcard > Make a new folder > media > audio > ringtones. Then copy/move your mp3 file into this. After that go to settings and select new ringtones
Ringdroid works well also, lets you edit starting and ending points for the ringtone. Available in the market.

On all the ASOP roms I've used, I navigate to the MP3 wether it's in the music player or file manager, long click, choose set as ringtone. Then it is set and when ever you go to set/change it later it will show up.
thanks you all, I finally got to fix it successfully... i just went to the music player and there was the functiob of "set as a ringtone"... way easy!!!

How to prevent the gallery app from reading the entire sd card?

Sorry if this is a re post. Is there a way to specify specific directories where the gallery app should read pictures from? The app is now looking through hundreds of music directories and loading album art which I want avoid.

that's a handy app, placing .nomedia files manually can be a pain in the ass depending on how many folders you want to exclude (i have folders with comic books in jpg)
thanks!
did this work for anyone on the prime? I couldn't get it to work. even with folder checked off then update gallery, it still showed the unwanted pics in there. like I wanted to hide pics from download folder subdirectory miscellaneous. I tried by checking off download folder, didn't work. then tried by specifying the specific one /mnt/sdcard/Download/misc. still no luck
Yeah, didn't work for me either. It said I didn't have the permissions to access the directories (I was trying to do this on a directory in my external storage.)
Any alternative apps to the stock gallery?

no, you place an empty file essentially that is names ".nomedia" in any folder you don't want the OS to scan for media related files and add them to things like the music player or the gallery.
that's what the app does for you, but for some reason it isn't working (i haven't checked to see if it's actually placing the files in the folder, but if it's not then that's the problem)
easiest way is to create a blank txt document in notepad or something, then save it and change the name (and extension) to ".nomedia" and then copy and paste that wereever you want on your tablet.
Exactly. and sorry for that spelling earlier wow... I didn't realize how terrible it was. lol
Thanks alot man
I use Quickpic (on all my Android devices). Lets you choose which folders to include and/or exclude (a must when you have N64oid high res texture packs for stuff like Mario 64 on your device - thousands of tiny image files!).
I use "Gallery Excluder" on my phone. Not sure if it works on TP prime or not, still waiting on mine.

Quick question do these apps hide the files from the associated programs, meaning i don't want my cover art to show in my gallery but i want my audio player to still be able to find it , seems like these no media file work arounds wouldn't allow that to happen, why can't we have the options to pick media paths for all stock viewers....any suggestions on how to hide from some programs and not others ?thanks for helping me figure this stuff out ...
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using Tapatalk
gallery excluder just updated recently but still doesn't work on the prime. I uninstalled it as it seems useless if not working properly.
It's simple as renaming the folders with a . at the beginning of any file you don't want the gallery to read. (ex.- .icons)

Just found this...comments say it works on Galaxy Nexus (ICS) so maybe it works on HC. I will let you know.
This is one thing that bugs the hell out of me,
Added the file .nomedia flag file but it still pulls data into the gallery, really anoying
Anyone else got any ideas on this one ?
Thanks

Same here....I will try out that quickpic app someone mentioned before. Galary excluder and renaming the files don't work. I think gallery app kinda bugged anyways. Like not all the time pics saved from websites show up there or something. Its weird. But they will all be there if you look in Astro. I think it depends on where its saved originally. If its saved someplace and you move it to the folder you want, it won't show up. If you save it to location you want first, then it'll more than likely show up. Opera mobile good at letting you save stuff where ever you want as it has a mini file explorer pop up once downloading about to begin. The others browsers don't n usually save to download folder.

Droid RAZR gallery shows EVERY image

Does anyone know if there is a setting that will change which directories, or show certain folders, images, or anything?
seriously. I wanna text a pic to someone and i have to sift through EVERY damn image ive ever viewed on the device, whether it be in app or browser.
Sounds like Gallery might be reading your cache folder or something. You can try and locate it and make sure it has the ".nomedia" file in there or add it yourself. That will stop Gallery from reading the images within. Easy to do, just make a folder in any directory where you don't want the images to be shown and rename it to .nomedia
so, should i just make a random file named .nomedia? or a FOLDER named .nomedia? or rename the folders in question .nomedia?
either use notepad ++ to make a blank file with the name .nomedia
or if you want to exclude a folder put a "." with out the quotes at the front of the folder name. it will not be scanned by gallery. so you can hid your porn in a folder and not worry about it
...and that is what i am trying to hide lol...cause my boss at work was looking in my phone and she saw alot of pics....of me...and yeah...now she looks at me weird.
trololol, you can always say " hey im a guy, and im straight or its going to be gay porn in there instead "
Hahahahahaha yeah you need to fix that

No it was pix of my junk. She made a comment about "whose is that!? It's really n... Wait...! " then she noticed the skin tone and clothes... Now she looks at me weird.
And i dunno what kinda weird look it is...

probably she was giving you a ME GUSTA face
Ummmm ... if you're gonna store pics of your junk on your phone (which is a bad idea in the first place) and then let your boss play around with your phone (another really bad idea) then -- for the love of God -- go to the Android Market, download App Protector Pro (an app that every single Android phone user should have), and lock your gallery.
I use that app to lock my email and text messages . I don't lock my gallery, but then again I don't store incriminating photos on my own phone.
And please, please, please ... don't show your phone to your Mom.

hah yeah. someone earlier said she had a me gusta face...that kinda described it lol. I dunno man. Would be nice. lol. thanks all. Ill try doing this nomedia thing then report back if it works/dont work.
remember to reboot the phone. and download notepad ++ to make the file. using regular note pad may not work
or
Old thread but here is a no Computer needed option:
Download ES File explorer (its free)
Install and open it
Navigate to the folder you want to exclude (remember it propagates down e.g. if you place it in the root of SD then the whole of SD is excluded including all the sub-folders)
Press Menu and select "new"
Select "File"
Call it .nomedia
Rescan your memory Cards
Sorted no PC required

So someone named "superthrust" is worried about pics on the phone?
atleast the name was not analthrust...
I use QuickPic, and it gives you the ability (if you long press on a folder) to exclude it from the gallery view.
My gallery was showing up all sorts of junk from my kindle library and looked a mess.
Now all I see are the folders I want.
Ive been using Vaulty Free. It hides pics and videos you select in its own folder. It also encodes the images and videos so you arent able to open then using any other gallery or video playing app. What i like most is that fact that even if you put the sd card in your computer the images are still encoded and you arent able to view them. The only downside to it is that you have to wait for it to encode the image you want to hide (no more than 3 seconds).
OP you shouldnt use anything to hide your pics, if anything you should give your phone to your boss with more pics in it, then enjoy your promotion. LOL.

the real funny part about what you just said, is that I just got promoted and she has been asking for my phone more... Epic win.
I just got sales manager the other day.
