Hi. I want ask you all: did crt animations use more battery? For battery life is better keep animations or turn off?
yes it drains faster. animations require resources to be able to render it, so i hope that answers your question
It shouldn't be that noticeable. Display and data eats away your battery the most, computing the animations should take minimal CPU.

My DInc used to show me in the settings menus the number of hours and minutes of Total Time vs. Awake Time, which gave me a good indication if there was a rogue app eating away my battery. I have 2 monitoring apps on my DroidX2, Spare Parts+ and SystemPanel, but neither of these really tell me these numbers in the same way. Spare Parts+ does give me a comparison of screen time on vs. running time. My phone has been on for 10 hours, with the screen on 1h 5m and the running time is 1h 57m.
I know I'm just rambling here - my real question is what do you guys use to track this sort of thing on the X2, do you recommend any better apps?
Eric
Download spare parts from the market. It has a few battery tools as well as the ability to tweak animations. I set my transition animations to fast and the phone feels snappier overall.

Dynamic, Standard, Movie, i usually keep mine on standard, perhaps a silly question but would having it on dynamic use up any unnecessary battery (probably not but would be good to know for sure)
Thanks
Well Dynamic mode enriches the color and contrast, so it will enrich the white color too, so that could drain more battery, maybe I thought too much. Shouldn't drain more battery IMO.
And why there is a crap Movie mode, who will use it ?
So in a nutshell if i have dynamic mode set is it going to cause more battery drainage does anyone know for certain?
Hello,
my name is Udi and I have a new Transformer Prime. I wanted to ask how do you maximize the battery life? from all aspects - is overcharging right? is full discharging right? etc.
thanks!
The single biggest improvement will come from going into the advanced WiFi settings and setting WiFi to turn off when the screen is off.
Also you should run using balanced or power saver performance modes unless you plan on running an intensive app like a game.
Aside from that normal things like turning down screen brightness, disabling GPS and setting your accounts to sync every hour (or more) rather than every 15 minutes can do wonders for extending battery life.
i was looking for a long time to increase my touchpad battery life on android and i found that option that did it like magic so i wanted to share it with u
settings > developer options > don't keep activities
is this in the stock rom or it is cm option and is there any app makes the same function
the only disadvantage of this it is mess with multitasking but it isn't annoying .. i prefer the battery life
thanks for the tip
im gonna try this today and see how much better the battery life is.
thanks for the info

It screws up shutdown widgets because they close as soon as they're activated. The only way to shutdown or reboot the tablet is with the power button- for me at least. I deactivated it.
dude
Dont post things like this in DEV SECTION.
I dont know if some moderator is gonna close it. Idnc
But just for the info. It goes more in general section
How does this safe battery life? As far as I know this option will prevent background processes from running, so if you have something wasting CPU cycles in the background it could improve battery life. But any decent app should sit idle in the RAM using a marginal amount of power.

Seems to me that this question is irrelevent. It is so simple the try that who cares how it works? Either it extends your battery life without hurting your "user experience" or it doesn't.

i think there is no longer decent apps out there .. tron style
is it true that turning off animations will increase battery life? i know that if you set it to 0.5 your phone will feel faster.

i doubt it.
I'm going to hazard a theory here, but I'm sure any battery life savings, if there are any, would be so negligible that they are practically unnoticeable. I like the 0.5 setting because the phone feels and acts more responsive but gives a smoothness to the opening and closing so as not to be jarring on the senses.
