Just had a manual update notice that AB 1.5.1 is ready, my pro is currently running 1.4.2. When I try and update though it fails installing saying the package isn't signed properly.
2 reasons I can think of but would like to know why. 1. I have patched my market, so maybe the update isn't suitable for this phone even though it's showing? 2. My presvious version was a patched version someone on xda did to rip out the ads, and maybe this isnt helping?
Either way, I need to keep my data which is 3* for all and 17 eggs, but NEED ham em high, so any work around?

I'm not sure how that link really answers my questions...
However - I used Titanium Backup to back up existing app and data. I then totally deleted AB from my phone. After a reboot I was then able to install the latest version from the market - and then managed to restore the data only back from Titanium.
Bit of a hassle and still no idea what actually stopped this for installing normally but at least it's sorted.
I think iI may have broke my Android Market!
Can still access the Market, but when I try and download an app, its shows the downloading progress bar and then just does nothing. It worked before.
I have been zapping a load of apps recently using Titanium Backup, could that have broke my downloading abilities?
Got a feeling it may be some of the google apps I removed, like google talk, even though I never use them.
Could anyone point me in the right direction to the x10 mini 2.1 stock app .apks?
Much appreciated
Maybe it's what you done with Titanium backup.
Try this first :
Go to Settings -> Applications -> "Menu" button -> Select "All". Then search Android market, clic on, and now clic on "Force stop" first, then "Wipe cache" and "Wipe data" ! Then reboot your phone and check if it's working
If it don't work, reflash your phone using SEUS !

This should be stickied but NEVER, EVER, EVER freeze, delete or even look at any of the Google Apps (any of the apps that say "Google..."), those apps are necessary in order for the system to work correctly, so by removing Google Talk you basically broke your Market.
Just restore a backup (if you have one), reflash the Google Apps or reflash your entire ROM, because I don't think there's a way to reinstall Google Talk.
Okay, looks like I'll have to start from scratch again then.
If I reinstall Android using the sony software, I take it I will lose all apps and root?
I think in future I'll avoid removing bloatware
Yeah, flashing the Sony ROM will wipe your phone clean, but hey it's not that hard to root and flash a custom ROM, just look around for tutorials and you'll be good to go
Was looking at the minicm6 rom, but can't really see the pro's outweighing the con's on using a custom rom. From what I understand, some things like camera and wireless are buggy.
Think I'll stick to the official 'stable' 2.1

Actually, MiniCM6 1.0.0 is pretty much stock ROM stable and has all the functionality of it, I use it every day and it works perfectly, what you have to weigh in the pro/cons is MiniCM7 as the Camera is still stuck on 640x480 instead of 5MP.
Right, flashed minicm6 rom, loaded and run okay, but just didn't like it.
Flashed back to stock 2.1 using sony software, everything back to normal, marking downloading again
On;y thing now is when I plug my phone into computer, it doesn't give the option to install pc companion anymore, just charge or connect. Not that I'm really too bothered though...
I have Vegan-tab gingerbread 7.0RC1 pershoot bl1.2.
Flash no longer shows up on my installed apps. When i search for it, It says it is not compatible for my device, google maps does the same thing too. Does anyone else have this problem too. I just noticed it last week.

Yeah, that was the only problem I had with that ROM. It seemed to always happen for me when the tablet would hard freeze and I had to reboot. Once it boots back up, anytime I access the Market, everything was not compatible with GTab.
I never found a solution other than returning to HC. It was a good ROM and that was the only prob I had with it.
Does [BL1.2]VEGAn-TAB GingerEdition v7.1.0 solve this issue?
Yes, it is much better running Vending 3.1.3.
If you have superuser rights, use AntTek App Manager to backup flash, than delete it from system (even sys application version), the Hulufied version from ASOP Ginger posts. You might need to install, update from market, remove, and install Hulufied version to stick.
Just download it on the PC..then hook up your GTab to the PC...drag the Flash 10.3 (Yes that one will work) into the storage on the device. Then download it from there.
All the apps (And there was ALOT) that shows up Non Compatible with your device in the Market...will actually work if you do it that way.
Thank you for all the responses. I went for the upgrade option to Vegantab 7.1. I am very pleased.
I need a bit of help,
for some reason my market app won't allow me to update Kies Air(plus other apps like ROM Toolbox).
When I search for the app, and the list of apps appear it says update, I click into the app, and it comes up with "Your device isn't compatible with this item", I know it's not the LCD density thing, as i've changed that and it still came up with the error. I've cleared the market cache and data.
I'm using:
Version - 2.3.5
Baseband - I9100XXK14
Kernel - 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #K2-21
Build number - GINGERBREAD.XWKJ1
The apps appear in the market correctly, i.e. SkySports News(which is a UK only based app) is appearing there, so I don't think it's anything to do with the regional settings of the build i'm using.
Can anyone help? Confusing the life out of me.
I've used Market Enabler, to no avail...changed it from O2 UK to USA(AT&T) and also tried the sprint network.
Is it something to do with my baseband? I don't mind attempting to flash another baseband on there, just need to know which one, how, and if it can be done through CWM? I can do it on odin, just will have to do it tomorrow on my own laptop at work.
just use another app kies is crap?!?! uninstall reinstall not work?
It's not just Kies though, ROM Toolbox is doing the same thing, and I am pretty sure I will get the same issue with other apps that I come across in the future.
Simply saying use another app, isn't exactly practical.
So only those two apps won't update ?? but others will?
Simply saying use another app, isn't exactly practical. - it is if other apps do the same job better?!
Clear data + cache for market apps... if that doesn't work just wait... sometimes apps won't update for a day or two and then will start working
Quite a few apps won't update, or even allow me to install them.
I just searched for the Kindle app on the market, I still get "Your device isn't compatible with this item".
I've cleared the data and cache, still doesn't work...
I am guessing more apps will display this issue as I search/want them...
So I may have fixed this, the density of my device was 235dpi and I read somewhere that the default density is 240dpi
So I've gone in and changed it with an app, and the market works now. I'll let you know if I have any more problems.
The only thing I can think of that changed this, is I installed Siyah kernel a few days ago, to try it, went back to speedmod as I prefered the original CWM rather than the tweaked version that Siyah gives out.
Anyway, it's working for now...
good luck
I'm still waiting for my SI number to come up, and I'm starting to get a little impatient. I'm considering going ahead and using flashtool, but if I go to that much trouble, why not just go ahead and root?
Here is the reason for my question: I rooted my x10mp to upgrade to 2.2 since there weren't going to be any more official updates. That gave me some capabilities (like apps2sd) that weren't available on 2.1.
So, what can I gain by rooting my 2011 xmp?

are your phone x10 mini pro or xperia mini pro?
xmp is the one that getting ics not x10mp :silly:
btw to answer your root question. nothing really.
i only root just to use v6supercharger, market enabler to install some apps that cant be installed "this item cannot be installed in your country" (because i live outside US), titanium backup, and link2sd for moving apps/data/cache to sd. thats about it.
My old phone is the x10 minipro. My current phone is the 2011 minipro. Edited my first post for clarity, thanks.

probably not
of course, this depends what you want to do with your phone... imho, if you have not decided to root your device for other reasons then it is not worth to root it for getting ICS: If you use stock ROM + a small amount of other apps and feel happy about it you probably don"t need root. ICS would give you a little icing on that gingerbread
IMO, definitely YES!
Definitely, it's worth!
Just root, no other mods, to just install some useful apps and achieve control over which you bought: your connections (droidwall...), your CPU and battery (cputuner...), backup (titanium...), adblocking (adaway...), autostart (autorun manager...), or just VIEW how is your system made (root explorer...).
I played with all of that stuff on my x10mp, but I don't really play with this phone as much. I forgot about adblock, though. That's a good enough reason to root for me. Thanks!

Well
Well
You will be able to do a lot of things
u can remove unwanted system apps (i use AntTek app manager)
u can modify system files
u can use apps that needs root (like root browser ,market enablers ,etc)
if you find yourself in need to do any of the above
then root
otherwise don't
it doesn't make a lot of difference
specially if you are on ICS
Got my XMP rooted and flashed to ICS. Took me a couple of hours to do it, but part of that time was spent figuring out my antivirus software on the computer. Ran a repair with PCC and lost root, so I had to do it over again, which took me about 45 minutes. Thought I'd try to run a repair on SUS, but I was afraid I'd wipe out root again, so I skipped that step.
Got some root-only apps, reinstalled most of my old apps, did some housecleaning. Everything looks good and it seems to run just fine. Now I just need to do the same for my girlfriend's XMP.
Just a couple of things: I lost my calendar info with the upgrade, though I tried to back up everything. Also, I'm wondering about skipping the repair with SUS or PCC.

If you like to tinker with stuff then go for it.
