So I've used Corporate Sync with MotoBlur on the Atrix on 2.2 fine, and it worked just great. No issues whatsoever.
When flashing Gingerbread, I found that Corporate Sync again worked fine. *However*, my employer has an "encryption" requirement (along with the wipe permissions) that I would like to bypass. Mainly because allowing internal SD encryption basically cripples your phone's video capture resolution.
It looks like someone disabled these options in the stock email.apk here. But that's the stock email application, and it's for Froyo.
So I guess my question is, can I disable the email client as an administrator post-setup? If not, how does one go about hacking the MotoBlur email client as above? Or, if replacing it with the AOSP email.apk is an option, does anyone have that apk (minus encryption enforcement ability) for 2.3 somewhere? I couldn't find it by searching google or XDA.
Thanks.

I first updated my Streak to the official 2.2 Dell update via QDL and then the OTA to get it to the 318 build. With that I was able to connect to my company's exchange server.
Then my internal SD died.
I replaced the internal SD with a 6Gb class 4 SD and my phone is up and running again. But it won't connect to the Exchange Server. I kept getting "Cannot Connect to Exchange Server"
Over the course of trying to make it work, I've allowed full access to read/write the internal SD card, upgraded my OEM version from 305 to 318 to match the Baseband version and now I'm DJ_Steves OEM version. All in an effort to get the Exchange to work again.
A google search reveals a lot of Android phones with this same problem, and some of the other phone platforms have an update.zip to fix the Exchange issue. They don't work for the Streak.
I'm aware of third party apps such as Touchdown and others but they don't appear to push the mail to the phone, they query the server every so often. I need the mail pushed to the phone.
I think the problem is that the updated kernel or OEM or baseband (not really sure where those options reside) isn't allowing my work exchange server to take over certain security features of the phone. For example, before it would let me sync before I had to agree to let the Exchange server take over some security features and then set a password. It isn't even prompting me to do that this time, and I think that is where the failure is.
I've searched on here and other boards for a fix and not found one that will work for the Streak. I also can't seem to find a setting that will allow this to happen. Is there a way to either enable the control of some phone security measures or to trick the exchange server into thinking that it is doing so? Without doing this I think I will always fail to connect to my work's email exchange server. Because of my bigger internal card I'm somewhat limited on just helter-skelter flashing other ROMs to the phone to see if it will work.
Sorry the post is so long.
settings, manage applications, email, clear data
I have two "emails" listed and one "email policy" All selections are greyed out on all of them. Can't uninstall, clear cache, nothing.
Edit: shutdown/reboot gives me access to clear data on one of the emails. Did that, reinput settings, still couldn't connect. Cleared data again, shutdown/reboot, reinput settings. I still can't connect to the exchange server. Same exact behavior
has your mailserver been recently upgraded to exchange 2010?
I'm not sure. I know if I access email from a non-company computer through either firefox or IE, it still says Exchange 2003
Touchdown pushes mail immediately... I get exchange mail on my dell streak 2.2 (318) before my work computer gets it. Use this link to download touchdown with on demand sync. (for registered users only)

Maybe I had the wrong version of touchdown then. I uninstalled it, since it was only checking every 15 minutes and put on moxier mail which does have push capability, and I like the interface better than touchdown.
What specific touchdown is that? I only had the free one, because I didn't want to pay for it until I could prove it did what I wanted.
I'd really just rather fix the native exchange server. Seems really silly that we have to use a 3rd party app for something that this 2.2 was supposed to (and, in my case did) natively.
Hi,
I am trying to delete emails from my IMAP account an my SGSII (Samsung stock emailing programm).
Now my problem is that all emails I delete once just reappear the next time I sync with my IMAP account. So its simply impossible to delete emails on my phone.
This problem also exists on the GalaxyTab as far as I know.
Hotmail works fine(but hotmail doesnt use IMAP as far as I know).
One simple solution would be to just not use the samsung emailing program. I tried K9 today, but I kinda dont like the fact that it doesnt come with an widget. I also like the stock program better.
Any clue what I am doing wrong?
its also not possible to open most attachments directly from inside the emailing application(.pdf,.jpg etc.).
It does work occationally but must of the time it doesnt.
Solved:
Not using Polaris Office did the trick for me.

How did you resolve the IMAP email problem? I'm experiencing the same behaviour. Gmail IMAP works fine (with the stock email client, not the stock Gmail client). However, my work email which is IMAP doesn't work correctly.
I simply stopped using the stock program.
And now I kinda started to love K9.
But K9 didn't get along with my hotmail account(it has no IMAP;always redownloaded old emails;I had a data usage of 200mb in one day^^) so I started to auto. redirect all my mails to gmail. That works flawless til now.
oh man, same here!
I use the same settings on Nexus One, V880 or even Ipod Touch, both works except SG2! any clue yet?
No I didnt find no solution.
I am happy with K9 now .
Greets.
Apparently using POP instead of IMAP, you have the option to delete from the server... Of course IMAP is supposed to do this anyway, but worth considering POP - especially if the other advantages of IMAP are of no interest to you.
Personally, folder synchronisation means nothing if it can't even sync deleted emails...
I tried to chase this up with Samsung support, but of course they're useless... It's obviously a software bug, but they suggested a reflash and then trip to the service centre if that doesn't fix it...
We all know a trip to the service centre will certainly not fix it if a reflash wont...
Curiously, I've got a VHA ROM on my phone, and wondering what everyone else has, presuming it might be an issue in the branded ROM, but not in the generic ROM...
I'm sure I'm not the only one who cares, but I did a little bit of research, and although it doesn't seem to help, there's setting the IMAP path prefix (usually 'INBOX'), which should direct deleted emails into INBOX.Trash as opposed to the android Trash folder, and therefore delete them off the server.
Sadly, trying 20 variations, I still couldn't get it to work... but it might work with your email provider (just didn't with mine)
If all else fails, and you really want to use the Samsung email app (which I do, since K9 does not have activesync Exchange support - only the other one, which doesn't help me), instead of deleting emails, just go: Menu/Move to Folder/INBOX.Trash - this is the same as what Delete should be doing...
Hope that helps somewhat...
same issue: any solution found yet?
I have a question about the 2.3.4 hktw build is there a fix to sync Facebook contacts? I know blur isn't being used but is there another method to add fb contacts to address book
Try the blur fix.
I wish there was a way to fix exchange syncing. I can't get my email or contacts.

I've been using the version from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=775007. It can be installed alongside BlurEmail from Motorola. It uses a separate "Exchange" type account outside of MotoBlur under accounts.
Note: This version has been hacked to remove the Exchange security features. Using this against secured, corporate Exchange is grounds for firing in some companies. (If anyone has stock Gingerbread email without this hack, I would love to have a copy.)
I use it against Zimbra, because BlurEmail frequently truncates Zimbra emails with no option to "Get More". Using this on 2.2.x allowed me to read all my email, but I couldn't click on links or copy text from the email. It seems to work perfectly on 2.3.4 though.
Just found http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15164552 that was pulled from 2.3.4 samsung. It might work for you too without the concern about the security hack. I haven't tried it though.
EDIT: I installed this version. It seems to work fine. In the menu there is an icon that looks like a Volume icon that seems to actually be refresh.
That was an easy fix by just creating a new motor blur acount and adding the social networks to the accounts tab.

We are running Lotus Notes at work (I will accept all the pity that anyone cares to give me). We have version 8.x and have Lotus Traveler servers up and running. The Lotus Traveler software on android leaves a few things to be desired.
Traveler server can speak standard ActiveSync. The problem is that the Gingerbread and Froyo versions of the Exchange setup on android broke the ability to put in a custom URL for the "exchange/traveler" server.
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=14486
Is anyone aware of any way around this? I would like to remove the traveler software and just use the built in email app with my lotus email. There are some apps that you can run on the android that will use ActiveSync to work with a traveler server but I really wanted to use the built in email app if possible.
Maybe someone who developed a custom Email.apk that allowed for a manual server URL?
Thank you.
Working EMail.apk
Hi,
I had the same problem. I patched the current EMail.apk from Gingerbread, now it works for all my Traveller Accounts. This version is the Galaxy Tab version, but should also work on smaller devices.
Have fun,
Bender.

Thank you. How does one install this? Do I need to remove the old Email.apk or can I install this one over the top? (phone is rooted but does not have custom rom or kernel)
Problem with BodyPreference
Hi,
I have one more problem with the current app.
I get only Mime Encoded EMails and they are not displayed correctly.
I have to first work this out, then you can use the app.
When you have a roote phone, all you have to do is go to /system/app
delete Email.apk and Email.odex (if you have one), then copy the new Email.apk to this plays. Open Email.apk, the app is installed and then reboot your device.
Bender.
Awesome. Thank you for working on this.
Any luck making this work?
I have a Lotus Notes Traveler account and i'm trying to make use of the built-in email in ICS. All my calendar entries and mail headings are syncing just fine but there's no visible body to be read in any email.
Anyone with a solution?
Nobody?

Hi,
I am on stock ICS Galaxy Note and want to use my lotus notes using native email client but I am not able to sync because my company uses port number in server name like :
mail.mydomain.com:15001/servlet/traveler
if i put :15001 the mail client Next button gets disabled any fix for this?
Same here.... This custom port is killing me... You could try setting a port forwarding from another computer, setting ot as you server.
Not sure it will work, but it might.
Also if anyone here has the latest LotusTraveler.apk (v. 8.5.3.2) could you please post?

Hi there,
After having posted earlier about the sync problems here, I would like to find out what is causing the problem.
I have done a lot of flashing lately and am pretty sure it must be either the Calendar/Agenda or the Sync program in Android 2.3.5 that's causing the problems (not sync-ing edited items made on the Exchange/Outlook client side).
Other clients, when installed on the phone, like TouchDown for Exchange, synchronizing everything fine.
My first question would be:
Has the Activesync program on the phone been updated from Android 2.3.4 to 2.3.5?
For, if not, it must be the Calendar/Agenda app that needs to be at the origin of the problems.
Can anyone confirm this?
The other question would be:
Depending on the answer on the first question, could either the sync or the Calendar/Agenda from 2.3.4 be ported to 2.3.5?
I'll gladly be willing to test. I have tried myself to replace the apps, but I don't seem to be able to find the appropriate files.
Anyone any help?

Solved by updating to CM7 Android 2.3.7
Hi there,
Problem has been solved for me by updating to VictoryMod 2.1 (based on CM7) which is running Android 2.3.7.
Regards,
I have the same problem with google calendar sync. I have had it since I changed to 2.3.5 JVT and it's still here after changing to 2.3.5 JVU on Galaxy S. Is there a way to fix this without changing the entire rom?
I have also the same problem with GSII but I can't upload another rom, it's a company phone.
Is there anyway to have it working on GSII?
Thx, David
Exchange sync has always been iffy for me. I eliminated the problem using Google Calendar on the phone and using G-Syncit with Outlook to keep my desktop sync'd with Google. It isn't as elegant as using Exchange exclusively, but it has been flawless.
I guess it will work until I can get over the fear of migrating the Exchange Server to Google Mail.
