[Q] Kill sound that plays when placed in Multimedia Dock - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So when I place my tab in the Desktop Dock I get an sound that I want to kill. It does not play when I just connect the audio and same 30-pin cable to the tab. In fact, without the cables attached to the dock (or the audio connected to the tab for that matter) it still plays that sound when I connect the tab to the dock.
So there is something about connecting to the unpowered, unaudio conencted dock that plays this sound that I can not hear under any other circumstances.
Anyone know about this sound and how to stop this sound? If I mute all sounds on the tab it no longer plays of course.
I am going to try searching for it....perhaps I can even replace it with a blank sound.

Okay well, I found the following:
Sound for power up screen:
/ect/1_Power_on.ogg
Since that's an .ogg filetype I hunted for all .oggs
For the DOCK:
/system/media/audio/ui/Dock.ogg
For the UNDOCK:
/system/media/audio/ui/Undock.ogg
...alright. Question answered by typing out loud

With Root Explorer and the previous info I was able to make that folder RW, paste the Silent version of the same files, set the folder as RO and now the sounds is no longer heard. It might work just by deleting or renaming the stock files also.
I attached both versions of the files in case anyone else wants to use them at the own risk. You need to be rooted and I have no idea if my tab will melt from this process so be forwarded, liability is in your own hands. When in doubt....don't!
I'll stop talking to myself now. Good night.

dev competition - disabling headset remote

Hello developers,
You are simply great. You make a lot of nice stuff day by day. Thanks all of you!!!
My question:
Can someone of you disable the hero receiving signals from the headset. Even if I use simple earphones, when I stand up, or turn my body, the music stops, the phone calls the latest called person.
Can somebody do it?
Roland
You can use a different music player from the market. As far as I know not every app reacts to remote commands
You should edit your /etc/bluez/audio.conf file
[General]
Enable=Sink,Headset,Gateway,Source
Disable=Control
This SHOULD work, but you've gotta test it.
@klaus27
it's a good idea
but it still makes calls
@adwinp
I don't have this file
which ROM has it?

EVERY ROM has it.
just adb pull it, and re-push it, then reboot.
Or you can edit in place, just remount /system/ as rw, open the file in nano, and that's it.

Try /system/etc/bluez/audio.conf
/system/etc is the real location of the etc folder. /etc/ is a symlink to /system/etc, and maybe it's not there in all ROMs.
EDIT: Although, I'm not 100% sure changing the bluetooth settings will affect a plug-in headset.
I found it, thanks
I'm editing it right now
It didn't work. : I
The remote still works, and it drops calls if I move while calling
Is there any way to redirect music to bluetooth? That would solve everything.
the file looks like this now:
# Configuration file for the bluez audio plugin (A2DP)
[General]
Enable=Source,Gateway,Sink,Headset
Disable=Control
# Switch to master role for incoming connections (defaults to true)
#Master=true
# Just an example of potential config options for the other interfaces
[A2DP]
SBCSources=1
MPEG12Sources=0
[AVRCP]
InputDeviceName=AVRCP
Is it okay like this?
just buy a set of headphones off eBay for a quid.sorted
I have one and I love it
but it does the same, even if it has no remote
I sit down, stand up, turn around and it drops calls, stops music etc.
what developer can help me to disable it?
it is so stupid. I bought this phone not really cheap, and now I have to buy an mp3 player?!
android is opened
I'm sure, that somebody can help me.
I pay 10$ for the person, who solves it. Exactly: I can listen to music on my wired earphones without changing to the next, calling somebody or dropping call by itself.
I have never had that, but with the apple inear headphones clicking the center button twice made it call the last person in the call list but " Meridian Player conservative " has an option to turn on the controls for the player so now double clicking the middle changes the song! Give it a try
Hoped this helped
If I understand exactly, you use simple headphones WIRED, no BT.
And, try you another headphones? Or problem is in HERO. Some broke down in jack connector?
What original firmware? Same problem?
I use koss plugin with hero fw htc, sensehero1.6 and now with Androbin, without problem.
With my previous phone i have similar problem with hands-free headphones with "call button".
I have sensehero 1.6 on the device and it is the same with the original headset or my simple philips earphones.
But I'll try the meridian player : )

Sounds like its the jack connector then. You got warranty?

[Q] Loud crack when using line out sound on Docks

So whenever my phone is in the dock (samsung desktop or car) the sound switches to line out (sadly for everything but calls but that's another topic).
When the phone is silent and i hit anything that makes a sound, it's like it turns on the sound system and there's a large crack in my speakers everytime.
Is there anyway to fix that atm?
I've tried looking around but couldnt find any similar post.

[Q] Cant stream MP3 via bluetooth

Hey guys,
I cant work out how to get my mp3s to stream from my Mozart to my headset via bluetooth.
dealextreme.com/p/bluedio-j9-bluetooth-2-1-handsfree-headset-7-hour-talk-100-hour-standby-27347
^This is the model of my headset. (cant post links)
It works fine for calls/voice commands but if I play an MP3 while paired it just plays through the phone speaker
Any ideas, am I missing something really obvious or am I screwed?
No one has any idea?
cant really help,but i doubt if its possible.just know that there are several issues with the blutooth on mozart,cuz its limited pretty hard
I have almost same problem. I had mine paired with bluetooth headphones. Listening for mp3s, no problem. Getting a call, no problem. But for some mysterious reason if I want to watch a video maybe even a movie with my phone, the sound comes from the speaker ?
I never found solution. I just bypassed it by using regular headphones (with cord).
It's weird that yours wont play mp3s trough bluetooth. What about videos?
Works fine for me. I'm using motorola s305 headphones. But till 8107 update i couldn't listen music from streaming apps like 8track, vkplayer, etc. Now it works fine.
Hello everyone. Been lurking for awhile, stumbled upon your problem while searching for a somewhat different bluetooth issue. So I signed up to share with you something that I found today that may help.
Oh, and I love that "Your a noob" video they require you to watch before registration
I have a rooted HTC Eris with Workshed's Cyanogenmod 7.1. Thanks Workshed, it's great!
Primary purpose of this phone is an around the house sip phone, but I also wanted to use it as a "skype box", to take some resource load off of my netbook. Unfortunately, skype had two problems on the Eris: choppy sound and NO bluetooth headset. The headset works fine calling VZW's service line, but acts like it's not even there for skype.
Today I managed to solve both (somewhat) by getting into the guts of the installation, I have it on a Fuse share to my netbook, but you could do the same with the Android SDK adb shell tool, or however you get into the Android OS folders. Even using a terminal emulator and vi editor with superuser privileges directly on the phone would work. The biggest trick is you must remount the system folder as read/write to save the file after editing:
Code:
mount -o remount,rw /system
Then, start your terminal emulator and type:
Code:
su
vi /system/etc/bluetooth/audio.conf
In the /system/etc folder is a bluetooth folder, just as in my Debian installation. The audio.conf file in that folder had option HSP/HFP set to HSP by default (HeadSetProfile/HandsFreeProfile, not confusing, is it?)
So I changed it to HFP and that caused Skype to not only go through the headset for the 1st time, but for some reason, the audio is _almost perfect now, seems as though running through ALSA and whatever was too much for it, this is less intense for some reason.
I believe this is worth a try for your problem. Reboot when done editing & see what happens.
My only problem now is the bluetooth mic, when the skype lady plays back my audio it sounds like a tape recorder on fast forward, totally unintelligible.
Anyhow, good luck. Apologies if this is more detailed than need be, wasn't sure if the average flasher would normally get into this.

Audio Programs

i like to record music, and was just wondering is there a way to get audio programs on the Prime. like Adobe Audition 3.0 or something like that, that will let me use my mixer with the USB dock. so i can plug up my Mic and make a track??
any altinatives or ideas??
Pocketband ULoops and J4TMultitrack Recorder look like the two leading options. I read that they are prone to latency issues, and that one cannot hear and record at the same time.
recording is done via mic input. so far Ihave had no luck getting my sound/midi interface to be recognized by the keyboard dock.
This is my number 2 use case requirement for a mobile device.

How to get alarms/notifications in speaker if headphones plugged in.

Hello Fellas!
Recently i started to listen to music/audiobooks before i go to sleep,
the problem is that in android 4.2/4.1 even with clock apps that tries to force audio through speaker (at least on my phone) only plays the audio through the headphones which has fallen of during night.
So i though i should make an post instructing how i got the alarm to play through the speaker even with the headphones connected.
the answer is Soundabout combined with Tasker (you could probably use other automation tools as well)
1. download soundabout free from market.
2. set Media Audio to speaker.
3. force close soundabout.
4. Download Tasker (which is a paid app but is well worth the money) (or other automation tool)
4a. go to settings and untick beginner mode.
5. Download and place "userbackup.xml" in the "tasker" folder in the root of your sdcard
userbackup.xmll
6. Open tasker, press the menu button --> data --> restore.
This hack will open soundabout at 6am if the headphones are plugged in, if you are rooted it will also force kill soundabout when you unplug.
NOTE: if you have any profiles allready you should make a backup and add my profile at the bottom of your "userbackup.xml."
Hope this helps!
Best Regards
Thanks
No problem, the only problem is that you have to force close the app every single day though,
i emailed the developer of soundabout about this and he said he would try to make a tasker plugin to make this easier!
Hey guys.
Any update on this?
Thanks
Alan
I dont get it... Soundabout runs a service, so it should be able to force audio through speakers without the need to fc it and start it via Tasker
But the fact is that it does not work on my phone. I have a headset plugged at all times and I just miss all calls
It is said that music apps can prevent soundabout from routing audio through speakers.. i am still testing, will post if I come to a conclusion on what music app does not bring this issue
I ****ing hate those ****tards at google who thought they should change that... since the beginning of time, call and sms alerts always went to speaker regardless the headset is plugged

I guess you dont have to fc, but i atleast had to force everything to the speaker. So the easiest way to get the sound back to my earplugs was to force close it.
The updated version does it automaticly so im good for now
Will pay $ for tasker script.
Hi to all of You.
I would like to have profile that force incoming call ringing and notifications to speaker when wired headphones with mic is plugged but not media sounds like YouTube or games, media sounds should be played only by wired headphones with mic.
I am willing to pay some reasonable amount of $ for person, who will write such tasker script for me.

Audio through external speaker with headphones plugged in - Tasker
Any better solution found for this yet? I would like to get tasker to still play audio through the external speaker when the headphone jack is plugged in. I would prefer not to use another app for this, just a tasker profile.
I just received a pressy like headphone button but it mutes the external audio since the phone thinks headphones are plugged in. The apps available for the Klick buttom don't seem too trust worthy or functional. I still want to use it to keep the dust out of the jack but not miss all the audio calls and notifications. A simple tasker profile to accomplish this would be great.
Any ideas?

also with Xprivacy you can change and give permission to prevent soundabout from changing speaker after, or there are many other permissions it's asking for.
Couldn't dig deeper, but may give an idea to someone.
I had a similar issue, except in my case I use a wired handset with my phone and I wanted notifactions to sound through the phone speaker rather than through the handset. My solution was to use the Automate app with the configuration attached. Plugging the handset mutes the notification, then on SMS received it plays a sound, with the output stream set as "ring" so it sounds through the phone speaker.
As far as I'm aware, it's not possible to play audio through two streams simultaneously- don't cross the streams...
I'm using a Sony Z3 with LineageOS, but I guess this should work with any android compatible with the current version of Automate.
