I have installed gingerbread(kph) + CFRoot(3.8)
Now i cannot play 3D games on my ace!! like Need For Speed shift, which use to work perfectly on Froyo.
I have also tested it with Quadrant benchmark test i do not see proper graphics quality!! (with proper texture)
Is it something with CFRoot, I am really clueless right now
has anyone else also faced a similar problem?
if any one could help me out!

Have you wiped your cache and dalvik?
how would that help?
I have wiped my cache a no. time while flashing theme but never wiped dalvik cache,

just try'd it only to fail,

Reflash and try again then.
try to reflash. im playing dead space game on my ace without any problem. its a grafic intense game, originally for xperia play. run smoothly on my ace with gingerbread 2.3.4 ZCKPA+cfroot b80 with conservative cpu governor, without slight lag at all. maybe ur rom got corrupted when u download it. try to redownload and reflash
3.8? We've only got 3.7, is it a typo?
A lot of Ace users have issues with NFS Shift .

Quadrant advanced is not friendly with gingerbread at the moment.
now i have installed stock DDKQ5 but still i can't play NFS, also texture is missing in Quadrant benchmark,,,, i am thinking of downgrading to foryo.
please... nfs is only for froyo... it doesnt work for gingerbeard... but there is a website that gives u a version that can be played on gingerbeard... i cant show bcoz if i do its a warez.. try searching NFS Shift HVGA on Galaxy Ace (Gingerbread 2.3.3 , 2.3.4)

Because if something going to screwup than you can do just NAND restore, and everything will be repaired just like a magic. ;-)
Yeah the mik_os's custom kernel makes the game play awesome . I have the custom kernel and I play PES 2011 from time to time and it's an awesome game .

I myself play PES 2011 and the LG Optimus One I use has never been updated, forget modded! Using the touch controls make the game lag, and all the actions look slow. The best option for you is to use the Accelerometer-One touch controls to play the game. Just select Accelerometer-one touch as control, set sensitivity to high, and calibrate the accelerometer in the game's settings. Sure, accelerometer control is not that easy, but you'll get the hang of it.
If you can't play at all without the V-Pad or buttons, the best bet for you is to overclock the phone with GetCPU. But I don't recommend this because it can crash your phone regularly as well as burn its processor if used unwisely and can void the warranty.. Happy gaming!

I just updated my Optimus One to LG's 2.3.3 Gingerbread update, and the game is finally playable with the V-Pad. The battery backup has increased, the RAM is more free (increased from 32% to 63%). That too with no kernel or overclocking. The game is now running like a dream, it doesn't lag at all even with all types of effects, so just update your Optimus and enjoy your game!

So what? Atleast if not the guy who posted the thread, it will help other Optimus One users who are facing such a dilemma some day or the other.
I have a Galaxy Ace s5830m rooted with acegingerroot. Id like to know once and for all if this phone can run 3d games like Nova etc. I've installed and tinkered with chainfire but white screens,crashes and garbled graphics are all i get. (i tried without chainfire btw, same result).Before rooting same result as well.
I can find nothing on the net regarding this model of the galaxy ace which makes me suspect i wasted time and money.
Im on gingerbread 2.3.6 stock
Baseband is s5830MWHKL4
Kernel Version is 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #1

I found a flash that puts it back kinda to stock, then you know your phone has no errors so then you can go back to rom huntin, then start making backups from every decent rom you find.

The ace is very much capable of running 3d games. Some run OK (Asuasins creed, nfs shift, hero of Sparta) some of them lag. Just make sure the games are compatible with armv6 processor and the game videos are MP4.
Look around on the web and you'll find lots of games ported to armv6 to work on the ace (with caution, since a lot are warez, and many warez can cause crashes or put malware on your phone)

I tried quite a few AOSP and AKOP roms and the one thing that annoys me alot is that almost every EA & Gameloft games stay in update screen for a min or more when a game is launched ,is there is any work around for this

How is the gaming performance on aops and akop roms for ea and gameloft games( heavy 3d ones). Do they lag and stutter, low fps? How is it compared to stock/ samsung based roms?
they run at a good fps rate..so far i ve played dead space,ME infiltrator,Asphalt 7,mordern warfare 3...and the list goes on..
The update check on startup is the oly thing that makes me to uninstall the games cuz i don't want ppl sayin my SGS2 is slow

umm but how is the fps rate and performance compared to stock or samsung based custom roms? Could u tell me how much u8 score on nenamark 2? and also the kernel?
I have heard some bad things about 3d gamn performance of aosp/akop roms..which prevents me from tryin them out..

i agree with.you.....when i open need for speed hot pursuit....it always update checking when wait up to 5 to 8 min...the game launch
how can i prevent the update check ..... anyone knows.....im on aokp rom

The problem:
This problem is simply with the developer of the game and not the Roms. They supposed to have release a genuine update to their apk(s) to fix this issues.
Many people are facing this same problem, but only on AOSP based Roms.
Possible solution:
Before opening any of those troublesome games, ensure both your mobile data and Wi-Fi connection are DISABLED.

I play Gangstar Rio City Of Saints on my sgs2 but I experiance a lot of lag issues.
I'm hoping over-clocking/ changing cpu/gpu settings could eradicate this only ExTweaks has no instructions whatsoever and I don't want to make any n00b mistakes.
Can someone tell me how to optimize my phone for high-end gaming please?

This high end gaming should be, if your device is supported, possible without any lags and without OC. You have a rom with Siyah at this moment?

I'm sorry, wouldn't know any other suggestions than to try this game with another (newer) rom and a upgraded Siyah version, and see if the problem still exists. OC shouldn't be necessary in my opinion.
Why don't you make a Nandroid back up and flash another rom to try?

I use my phone for wifi, to download 300Mb roms just to try would be ridiculous when they download at around 20kps (PLEASE SEE OTHER THREAD BY ME TITLED -wifi tethering ridiculous fluctuations, those tech minded please reply- ASKING FOR HELP ON THIS MATTER, which has 72 views and not a single reply I might add)

I had the same problem you have with the browser app, it was really lagging when I clicked on a link, always took at least a few seconds to load the page. So I went onto ExTweaks and OC'd my CPU to 1600mhz and my GPU to all the highest settings, it didn't make any difference to my browser but now if I'm ever stranded in the Arctic I can use my phone to melt ice into water, for about 15 minutes before the batter dies that is.
Gta gangstar rio city is a poorly optimized game..so it will lag no matter what
So dont bother about this game..
I have also been struggling with finding rom/kernel combo for best gaming performance..and none of the users actually help here as they just want to underclock their s2 and have long batterry life and flaunt their s2..thats it!!!
for getting better fps..i would suggest using ondemand governer..and use 500-1400 mhz scaling on CPU and set your gpu to like 200-267-400 and set low thresholds..But beware this is for serious gaming only lol and will drain your battery pretty good..but u will get a fps boost of about 6-7. A slightly pretty lower setting is : cpu scaling same and set gpu to 200-267..with ondemand governer..this is also gives you a good gaming performance
also..download nenamark 2 and let me know what fps u get with siyah 4 kernel and note the settings in extweak used..im also thinking of switching from siyah 3.5 to 4 but got no time to test lol

I play so many HD games including Ganstar, NFS MW, Modern Combat 3 without no lag what so ever. And I do not use OC because it causes the phone to overheat. I think somethings wrong with your current ROM. Do a backup and try another ROM just to check

From my experience in general, only a few apps tend to overheat my sg2 (overclocked to only 1.4 Ghz though).

I have play store version no lag and the beta didn't lag and it's full HD. I think your phone, plus ram and space, has to do with how your phone performs, don't be like a female that drives the car only, she doesn't know anything bout it. it's like having your computer, it gets slow and cloggy with low memory.
