The country China has a firewall set up so specific websites like Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter etc. can't be accessed. This is what he means.
EDIT: Lol, sorry you beat me to it.

Cannot work. Unable to connect for me.
You could perhaps use AutoProxy and dig up a proxy on a non-firewalled port to connect. There was a time when Proxy Hunter on Windows was good for finding them, but it has been years since I have used it.
http://hidemyass.com/proxy-list/ has a reasonably fresh list.

Vpn is the answer, but you need server outside of china. I'm sure there's some app that can do that, but again, you need server. Vpn is virtual private network, like proxy but more sofisticated.

VPN is the only thing I found to work.
A free option that somewhat works is DroidVPN (on the market) but for the heavy stuff I just use my house VPN provider, StrongVPN has a nice deal where if you buy one VPN account for the house you can get a second one for a very cheap price, I use the second one on my phone.
Their prices are reasonable at around 60$ per year.
I heard there are specific places in china where the internet isnt filtered o-0.

When I was there, I used sshtunnel to connect to my Linux box at home, which had sshd listening on 443. Worked perfectly.
Forgot to mention, there are sites out there that let you test access from China to your home IP prior to going there.

Actually I am using iwasel VPN service on my android without rooting my device, it gives me 6 connections at the same time with perfect speed and security, here you can find a discount code https://www.iwasel.org/en/trysmoketunnelfree/ and you can get an account for trial before paying money.

You will need to set up a VPN to bypass the Chinese firewall.

As stated above. A little more info. The Chinese government is allowed to monitor all traffic by its citizens. As such they block most outside competitors like Google and fb mostly due to them not allowing the government access to the info.

if you mean exposing a wired ethernet inernet connection(at office etc) through your laptop to wifi for tablets etc to connect and you have in intel wifi card supporting it, you could do intel My wifi feature. i have it on my Samsung core i7 laptop. it works flawless!

Sorry I don't think I was explicit enough.
I really ment there isn't any proxy setting in the WiFi menu and was wondering if there was a way to input the proxy settings so that I can uee the WiFi at work.
Thanks

Gingerbread doesnt have a proxy feature. You can use Opera Mobile to browse(did that in college) but apps still wont work.
There are apps that can proxify things, but they require root which was an issue at the time for me.
Ok thanks I'll use that for the meantime
What apps would you recommend if I was to root my device?

Ok thanks guys, I've just rooted it so I'll try autoproxy. Can't wait for ICS though

I would like to know if you have experience with VPN Cisco with IPSec Shared key. I tried few of them but none of them seem to work. I have the configuration correct and tried with my Ipad VPN with no issues. I greatly appreciate your help.
I use TN5250 lite from photon to get console. Just give network admin your phone name. Can't use IP because it changes on WiFi

From the play store it saids "Only available to USA users and will be available to ALL Countries later".
So the server itself does not allow any device outside of USA to access its server database. So the only thing you can do is install the apk, and proxy your device to a US Proxy, and it might work.

Sorry, but I cannot understand your question.
The DNS managment in KitKat has changed a bit and many DNS changer apps don't work anymore, but I wrote a piece of software which works.
It's called "Override DNS for KitKat" and it's on the Play Store.
It needs root privileges.
Are you interesteed in an app like the one I suggested you or do you want to know the specific commands which I implemented?
