So I know this has been talked about over and over again....even so..can someone please explain to me why this phone running stock rom ..custom rom...stock kernel custom kernel ...whatever the combo...drains solo fast? I am on my 2nd battery tmo nicely sent out free of charge thinking i got a bad one...yet the issue remains..i charge overnight..unplug ..go to work...8am ...stay in the shop 2 hrs...phone dark/silent.. get loaded up (delivery driver) get in the truck. Stick my phone on my clingo car mount turn on my screen to start an mp3...batery is at 85...from there i take maybe 60 mins of talk throughout the day..have mp3player running and use a Max of half hour navigation...around 2 pm battery is down to maybe 30 if not less...by the time i leave work at 4 it is in the red telling me to plug in.. mind you i even use a car charger here and there throughout the day...i have noticed this thing drains 3 times faster than it charges..i can even have GPS on...charger in...and it will stay about even or more times than not be less then when i plugged it in ...
Again having read a million of these posts...I cannot find any rhyme or reason for this other than luck of the draw? Some get 40 hrs some get 5?

Woah your post is really hard to read.
First of, using the GPS navigation app is very cpu intensive. You could tell it is when your phone starts to heat up. The more CPU intensive an app is, the faster the battery will drain. Secondly, if you have alot of syncing aps, your battery will obviously drain faster. My phone will last upto two and a half days without syncing and with heavy use. I'm not sure what you are trying to say with the charger, but the car charger isn't as powerful as the home charger from my experience--but I have noticed some car charger are *more* powerful than the other lower quality car chargers. Like with some chargers, my phone was able to charge while playing music in the car.
There is an issue with the DRM integrated with the newer roms (like the OTA). Together with the samsungs mediahub, it drains a signifant amount of battery. Some users report having better battery life after uninstalling or freezing the said apps--this requires root priviledges of course.

I know battery has been diacussed before but i think this isnt normal. I left the office with almost full charge, listened to music on the.way with bluetoith headset for an hour. Got home and browsed for like half an hour. And here is my battery.
3 hours and the phone is almost dead. I have no apps running. I had 3g on when i left the officw and at home i used wifi.
Is this normal or should i take the.phone back for an exchange?

Thats ridiculous man. Maybe you're battery is broken.
That said mine has just drained 35% in 3 hours with almost no usage so maybe it is just the phone.
I think there is 100% guaranteed a software problem and we need samsung to fix it.
It says you've had the display on for quite a long time, music needs the display on? Also that wifi sharing is another culprit.
It drained because you had the screen on nearly the entire time not because anything else
Unless thats a case of the 'phone staying awake' bug. You can freeze wifi sharing with titanium backup to save some juice

I too am facing the same issue battery drain from 100% to 60% in a span of 3 hours.
I am having a mediocre usage of battery with touchdown as my mail client talking to my corporate exchange. Still it doesn't warrant a drain of 40% in 3 hours.
I dont have much apps installed. Even with juice defender I am not getting better results.

You could say it's normal because if you haven't yet rooted and frozen the wifi sharing process this is the exact behavior everybody else is also having. A new phone will behave in exactly the same way if it's using the current firmware.
You can do two things.
1. root and freeze the process with titanium backup or similar.
2. wait for the next official samsung firmware which may include a fix.
The rooting process takes about 15 minutes and is not too difficult. You may or may not get in to warranty trouble in case of repair, but as I and several of my friends saw it, there really is no other way unless you want a phone with 3-4 hours of battery compared to the 19-23 hours we all get now after the freeze.
Another thing, it won't matter if wifi is turned on or off, the bug and wifi sharing process will still be there.
You will probably read around the net that several processes has to be frozen, but it really only is the "wifi sharing" one that needs to be frozen for the battery drain issue to go away.

Mine GS2 is a bit different from the OP's. Android OS occupied 45% while Display only 19%. And charging time is unusually long. Very long. I plugged my GS2 into PC at 9am with 30% left, and by the time I left work 6pm it only got up to 75% something. That's half a day charge.

I don't really know. But I haven't found a feature not working after the freeze. Even dlna sharing, hotspot etc.. Everything seems to be fine.

Regarding the unusual long charge time, I haven't heard about that before. It takes my phone about 3 hours to fully charge.
I can recommend this application for monitoring if the phone really sleeps when left on the table and which processes uses your juice in general. It's history based and you will be able to figure out a lot of useful stuff with it.

I'm also have a similar problem, but mine was after one hour and an half of web surfing using dolphin HD and wifi... it was full, it's now about 25% remaining... Is it normal that the dolphin browser used 39% of the battery ? It's even more than the display... !
Ps: it's actually really hot on the back of the phone, on the top, just under camera... Normal ? ? ?

Well. When you have rooted your phone, you are able to do a lot of usefull stuff:
-Freeze processes
-Disable the camera shutter sound with a simple property/text file
-Make the middle home screen the real home (like htc sense) with a simple property/text file,
-Replace camera.apk and get higher quality sound in video, actually also higher video bitrate if you want that.
-Replace talk.apk and enable the upcoming google talk with video chat
-Install chainfire3d driver to be able to play tegra2 gpu based games
...and probably a lot more, but above is the only things I've done.
Freezing means : that you lock a process you don't want to run ever. You are also able to "un-freeze" if you decide to revert.
So:
1. you root your phone
2. you install titanium backup or other application that has the "freezing" ability.
3. open the freezing app, go to the process list, find "wifi sharing", press freeze, reboot
Problem solved, "wifi-sharing" will never run again.
You want to revert: Launch titanium, go to process list, find wifi sharing, unfreeze, reboot. Everything back to where you were before.

I really don't think anything matters as I can see you have the wifi-sharing bug.
You must understand, that it's everybody with the current firmware that has this bug. You must either wait or root and freeze.
Sucking up your battery in a couple of hours and making the cpu run at full speed which makes the phone get hot is exactly what this wifi-sharing bug does.
There is absolutely no way you can change anything in the settings or say, not run dolphin browser to fix this problem. You simply have to freeze the process or wait for samsung to fix it. As long as the wifi-sharing process enters your battery usage list you have the firmware that has the problem (and it's more than one) and your doomed until you freeze or upgrade to a future firmware where the bug may be officially fixed.

isnt this pretty normal looking battery drain? most people on this forum are getting about 4 hours screen-on time, sometimes 4.5 hours. yours seems to have the screen on about 4 hours from your graph picture. isnt this normal? if it was all gaming usage it definitely would be normal...

Wanted to know from those getting 2 days out of the mini pro, what are your systems settings to make this possible.
1: I have my screen to less than 50%, can only still manage a day.
2: Do you guys turn off 3G HDSPA?
3: Does wifi use more or less battery than HDSPA?
4: Any of you using a blue tooth headset?
5: Any specific apps to kill?
6: Any special battery conditioning done? If so steps?
7: Do you guys have exchange e-mail on? push or pull?
The battery meter is showing more than 50% going to the screen.
Good that it seems I don't have an rouge apps and the wireless doesn't seem to take up too much battery, but a let down that I can't get more than a days worth of battery.
Found some decent battery recommendations here

Why are you trying to make your battery last 2 days? Do you not have access to a charger everynight?
Also I do not recommend you 'kill' any apps, due to the nature of Android. If you 'kill' an app, it's very likely it will just start up again, using more CPU cycles than if you just left it idle. This is especially an issue if you are using an auto-killer.

I'm not sure what value this message is supposed to provide. I've seen folks post that they can get 2 days or better out of the phone, if so what's wrong with wanting to do the same?
Also note that there are times when it's inconvenient to charge and I'd like to defer charging. I'm pretty much out of juice by end of day the work day, but would like to have a few more hours of battery left, having the phone on the charger all the time isn't always convenient.

I understand if your phone is starting to go flat then you might want to start conserving battery, but if you have the ability to charge it then why not?
I agree with r33p. Using a task killer is possibly one of the worst things you can do to try and save battery. Using less memory does not save battery at all.
Also im not sure if this is true, but using a dark theme does not save battery as the backlight is still on, but screen is just 'hiding' it to create the black you see. So if anything it uses more battery.
I tend to keep a widget on my home screen to turn off data, wifi, and bluetooth. I turn them on when I need them, turn the off the rest of the time. As long as you aren't doing heavy internet browsing on your phone, you should be able to get two days use out of it.
Hopefully we'll get some custom roms for these things so I can justify rooting my phone. Then I'll uninstall all of the stock apps I don't want, both to clean up my app screen and to hopefully stop some of those background processes I don't need.

I must agree. Using a dark background does not save battery. That only works for oled or amoled based screen like the galaxy s series. Also they're right, don't use a task killer. Terminating apps just consumes more battery.

i can last 1,5 day without charging.
if i dont do anything special besides reading mail and answering a few whatsapp messages i do about 3-4% an hour. if i dont do anything at all, like at night, it uses 1-2% an hour.
1.screen is 35%
2.i have 3g on. sometimes i put it on 2g only
3. i dont know but i turn off wifi en bluetooth whenever i dont need it.
4. i use bluetooth in my car tot connect my phone with my car. unfortunately this uses a lot of battery by being just connected.
5. i kill the popgames, this uses a lot of battery
6. most times i let the battery go empty and only then start charging with the powerconnector, not through usb with a computer.
7. i dont have exchange but imap push email and another account pop3 which connects once every hour. i use the app k9mail
last weekend i did 2,5 day but i was abroad and didnt have roaming data and turned off wifi en bluetooth.
i did 1% a hour except when i was driving and connected my phone to my car.
but still 2,5 day

I normally put all of my most used widgets on the front page for quick access
3g or wifi pref. 2g is painfully slow.
Yea and forget appkillers,delete the apks or freeze the unwanted services.

yes 2g saves battery
i was told that because of the continues switchting between G, 3G and H the battery consumes a lot of energy.
when you put it on 3g only or 2g only it saves battery.
becasue i dont have 3g everywhere i go i put it on 2g so that i can make calls everywhere i am.
if i need to do some things on the internet i switch it back to 3g.
2g is enough to recieve mail and whatsapp messages.
my mail wont come in as fast as wifi or 3g but that doesnt matter to me.

How do you set it to H only? Is this via WCDMA only?
I'd love to drop the bloatware, but want a clean root option that won't affect functionality.

I have about 2 days. Currently I'm on 82% 12h since charge. My experience:
1. I keep 3G switched off most of the time when I'm outside. Only if I really need the speed for uploading a photo or update an app.
2. I keep Wifi running all the time at home.
3. I have disabled Location&Security both Use network and GPS. These seems to drain battery even if maps and latitude is disabled.
4. In the carrier settings I have disabled automatic mode and going for manual mode and selected my carrier.
5. I always use the back button on any app until I reach the home screen before locking.
My idle drain is about 1.5-2%/h when I'm at home with wifi. Outside with 2G it's draining a bit more and with 3G it uses insanely much battery.
I have lot of push services running (fb/g+/twitter-notifications, Whatsapp and gmail + an Exchange account)
I have also noticed that the battery calibration is a bit flaky. From time to time I run the phone until it dies (sometimes at 8-10% but sometimes at 30%). Then I'm unplugging the battery for a minute, plug it back and charge and it have calibrated and doesn't die at 30%.
Another thing I have noticed is that I can't get more than 4172mV charge. The battery should be able to charge to 4200mV.
Two good apps for monitoring battery usage is BetterBatteryStats and Battery Monitor Widget (which is more than just a widget)

thats one other discovery I have made.
when the phone says 100% it's actually still charging (can be seen that there is a charge indicator at the battery and also can be seen from Battery Monitor Widget)
Another thing is that when it has reached 100% it starts to drain battery until it reaches 95% then it starts to charge again. (nothing uncommon with that) but the phone still shows 100% so sometimes when it's unplugged it can actually be at 95% (but starts to countdown from 100%).
Battery Monitor Widget can alert when it's actually fully charged with a notification.

I was I just wondering has anyone used their note for a long distance drive. the reason I ask is because using my stock charger or Any one as a matter a fact my Battery still drains even while.plugged.in.and pretty fast maybe 1 percent every 6 minutes if not Sooner.just wanted to know if anyone has the same problem?

Long story short, it's shorted so that the Note receives more power. Someone can explain it to you in a more verbose fashion, but rest assured, my Gnote still charges slowly up, even when running google maps, music, and screen brightness on high.

I use my note for 2-3 hours drives each week, and here's the key....if you're comfortable with your GPS app like I am, its a breeze, and an awesome solution. But there are a few key things. 4g is a battery drain enough on its own. Add that to the fact that you'll be driving through multiple cell zones, often with 3 or more cell sites in each one, and the note will he speaking to all of them. That alone will eat your battery like Michael Jackson ate children (all celebs are cannibals...ya know?), so there are two options for the battery issue.
Option one: Turn off mobile data completely, and use one of the many offline mobile GPS apps out there...start your route with mobile data on to pull down traffic data, and to route you around traffic jams, construction, or accidents...I use Navigon, and its the only app I've seen that can do all of this seamlessly. For other reasons too, Navigon is the best. It shows the speed limit, and warns you about red light cameras, or gives you audio warnings if you're going a certain preset amount over the speed limit. Also, when your driving on the toll way looking for an exit, it displays a HUD like visual representation on which lanes are okay to be in. Instead of just saying "stay right" it'll show you a picture of the toll way with 4 lanes...and 3 of them might have arrows in them, while the other has an x-mark in it. There are multiple voices and a dons, and once you download the maps, you're finished. In just 1.8 gigs, I can have a complete map of the whole contiguous United States and Canada.
This is the best software option for me. I've tried solutions that are free, and even for iOS, the graphics and design is better with navigon than Tom Tom or Copilot. Its well worth the 40 dollars, but you can often buy a region....say, the Midwest, the east coast, or the west coast for cheaper. Or you can wait for it to go on sale, and grab a North America or USA & Canada, or USA and Mexico Combo for 20 dollars. Whenever I've looked, its been on sale about fifty percent of the time.
Next, the battery options, you can do what I do, and use a travel battery pack that will charge a second battery without the phone having to be plugged in, and without the awkward cable setup that comes with mounting a plugged in phone, or keeping one on your lap.
Since our phones charge extremely slow from a car/cigarette port while using them, I find this to be the best option for staying juiced.
Secondly, its possibly to keep your battery at a certain level, or even charge it at a slow rate if you use good practices: know your route in general, and get familiar with the general outline of your route. After about an hour of using the app, you'll become confident in the solution enough to work on audio instruction alone. Use a headset--a wired one preferably...Bluetooth sucks in every way possible...its short range, it eats batteries like al roker ate funnel cakes, and it is terribly unstable and difficult to use, even for the jedi-minds here. Its improved somewhat over the years...but the goal here is to use a reasonable amount of power. Download your podcasts or music over wifi before you leave, and save power by only using the screen when you need to.
With a headset, my podcasts going, and my phone in 2g mode, I've found that my phone actually charges with the screen on its lowest setting (seeing any screen in the daylight is almost impossible for any device, no matter how powerful, or premium, or expensive it is, but using g it like this at night isn't an issue), and the audio is playing through the onboard speaker, or I'm playing music through the device via headset. I can sometimes even stream audio and use the speaker....though its not really loud enough to hear over almost any car going 55 MPH.
Make sure your car charger is rated for 1.0 amps, or 1000miliamps..at least. I don't know if the note can pull more or not...but even in the worst case scenario, if you had the travel battery pack (which, for thirty dollars gets you a wall charger, an additional stock OEM battery (none of the voodoo-magic extended battery crap that actually gives you worse battery life, under or over powers your phone, or only lasts 100 charging cycles), and a external battery case which will fit into any pocket you have (unless you wear skinny jeans....ew.), and will charge any note battery)) if you're phone died and you forgot to place your extra battery on the charger, in about 20 minute or so, you'd Be powered back up with enough juice to get you going again. After you placed your battery in the charger and plugged it in.
Lastly, you could get a power inverter from amazon or best buy (I would never buy some cheap Chinese version from amazon. I'd buy a brand name one from walmart or radio shack or even best buy) and you'd be able to charge your device at home/wall speeds.
Just using a few tricks, you'll never need to replace or run out of battery, and its likely you'll never even use a percent. But doing dome things with any phone will ensure you either don't make it to your destination, or that when you do arrive, you do so at 1-2%, of even worse....0%.
I think the Note charger travel pack is the best thing since sliced bread. I don't ever plug my phone in anymore. I bring the battery pack with me, and use a collapsing wall plug with a retractable micriusb cable to plug the pack in and charge my second battery...this means I can just plug my extra battery pack in at Barnes and nobles, my friends, etc...while still using my phone. Sorry for the walk of text...and my goofy disposition. Its late and I'm so tired that I'm slap happy. But, to summarize, every device has it's shortcomings, but by spending only thirty dollars...I found away around the only real problem with the device--battery life.
The device is amazing in every way now.
I stopped using my $1300 laptop when I got my TF101 a year ago, and I stopped using my tablet for anything but reading and one fishing game since I got my phone.

Yeah I've noticed that my note charges indefinitely with that charger. My mom has one in her car and I thought I was crazy at first thinking that it charged my phone faster than stock.but I noticed that using that charger in her car no matter what I did using GPS and on lte the phone would still charge.when I turn my phone off and let it sit it's like magic.my phone charges really quickly.are there any threads that can explain more in dept why this happens with this charger?

For other reasons too, Navigon is the best. It shows the speed limit, and warns you about red light cameras, or gives you audio warnings if you're going a certain preset amount over the speed limit. Also, when your driving on the toll way looking for an exit, it displays a HUD like visual representation on which lanes are okay to be in. Instead of just saying "stay right" it'll show you a picture of the toll way with 4 lanes...and 3 of them might have arrows in them, while the other has an x-mark in it. There are multiple voices and a dons, and once you download the maps, you're finished. In just 1.8 gigs, I can have a complete map of the whole contiguous United States and Canada.
This is the best software option for me. I've tried solutions that are free, and even for iOS, the graphics and design is better with navigon than Tom Tom or Copilot. Its well worth the 40 dollars, but you can often buy a region....say, the Midwest, the east coast, or the west coast for cheaper. Or you can wait for it to go on sale, and grab a North America or USA & Canada, or USA and Mexico Combo for 20 dollars. Whenever I've looked, its been on sale about fifty percent of the time.
Next, the battery options, you can do what I do, and use a travel battery pack that will charge a second battery without the phone having to be plugged in, and without the awkward cable setup that comes with mounting a plugged in phone, or keeping one on your lap.
Since our phones charge extremely slow from a car/cigarette port while using them, I find this to be the best option for staying juiced.
Secondly, its possibly to keep your battery at a certain level, or even charge it at a slow rate if you use good practices: know your route in general, and get familiar with the general outline of your route. After about an hour of using the app, you'll become confident in the solution enough to work on audio instruction alone. Use a headset--a wired one preferably...Bluetooth sucks in every way possible...its short range, it eats batteries like al roker ate funnel cakes, and it is terribly unstable and difficult to use, even for the jedi-minds here. Its improved somewhat over the years...but the goal here is to use a reasonable amount of power. Download your podcasts or music over wifi before you leave, and save power by only using the screen when you need to.
With a headset, my podcasts going, and my phone in 2g mode, I've found that my phone actually charges with the screen on its lowest setting (seeing any screen in the daylight is almost impossible for any device, no matter how powerful, or premium, or expensive it is, but using g it like this at night isn't an issue), and the audio is playing through the onboard speaker, or I'm playing music through the device via headset. I can sometimes even stream audio and use the speaker....though its not really loud enough to hear over almost any car going 55 MPH.
Make sure your car charger is rated for 1.0 amps, or 1000miliamps..at least. I don't know if the note can pull more or not...but even in the worst case scenario, if you had the travel battery pack (which, for thirty dollars gets you a wall charger, an additional stock OEM battery (none of the voodoo-magic extended battery crap that actually gives you worse battery life, under or over powers your phone, or only lasts 100 charging cycles), and a external battery case which will fit into any pocket you have (unless you wear skinny jeans....ew.), and will charge any note battery)) if you're phone died and you forgot to place your extra battery on the charger, in about 20 minute or so, you'd Be powered back up with enough juice to get you going again. After you placed your battery in the charger and plugged it in.
Lastly, you could get a power inverter from amazon or best buy (I would never buy some cheap Chinese version from amazon. I'd buy a brand name one from walmart or radio shack or even best buy) and you'd be able to charge your device at home/wall speeds.
Just using a few tricks, you'll never need to replace or run out of battery, and its likely you'll never even use a percent. But doing dome things with any phone will ensure you either don't make it to your destination, or that when you do arrive, you do so at 1-2%, of even worse....0%.
I think the Note charger travel pack is the best thing since sliced bread. I don't ever plug my phone in anymore. I bring the battery pack with me, and use a collapsing wall plug with a retractable micriusb cable to plug the pack in and charge my second battery...this means I can just plug my extra battery pack in at Barnes and nobles, my friends, etc...while still using my phone. I can even plug the pack into a computer and walk away. Which is great for long days at work, and means I can use my note 24/7 and never ever have to worry about battery life.

Thanks I will definitely look into navigon.just out of curiosity when using navigon off line from gps how accurate is it?.what I envy iphones for is their quick triangulation on google maps without gps.while Androids need gps to get any where close to where I am.to lead me somewhere

Not exactly true. If you have your location services enabled then google maps will find you almost instantly within a certain range. I have yet to even use my gps yet on my note with maps and for the first time it has me shown within a quarter mile. Distance will vary with the amount of towers close by.
Navigon uses the gps. It should show you within a few feet if you are out in the open sky. Just the same as any other gps app. And I second Navigon. I have tried Sygic and Ndrive also and have found Navigon to be by far the best.
Edit: Just went outside to test the GPS for the first time. Damn this thing was quick. Connected in under 30 seconds.
Traditional 500mA car chargers just won't cut it.
Buy a power inverter and use the stock or similar 1.0A/1000mA charger and you will be able to use GPS/Bluetooth/4GLTE with screen on and still charge the phone! One warning though, the battery will get very warm with all of this running. But it will charge despite the heavy use.

Yeah I know that .the note is too power hungry for 500 mah chargers. when using that motorla charger listed above in my cart and using my phone with gps and lte I have seen temps as high as 129

Drove from Maine to Camp Lejeune, a marathon drive of about 15hrs with Navigon, and Bluetooth audio running the entire trip. I am using the Samsung car dock, and the phone stayed fully charged the whole trip.
Been very happy with the samsung car dock, price was good too.
What stinks is that the Motorola charger you posted about, the one I have, puts out 850Mah to the phone. And even that is still not enough to charge while in use. In fact,, it doesn't even maintain..... Does this phone really use that much energy to operate?

Yeah that's exactly what im talking about , within your location services settings if you disable the gps function and go to Google maps and click try and find my location . Their is a huge blue halo in which you could possible be your location which doesn't help when your somewhere unfamiliar. Im not a ios fan to say the least but in that aspect i find their google maps much more consumer friendly in every day usage. I used my mothers iphone while she as at work for directions for deliveries at the restaurant i work at because it was so quick to show me the route i needed and find me while my note would take maybe 15-30 or so seconds to find what i needed. Although iphones dont have turn by turn which was annoying at times looking down at a small 3.5 in screen
Im using Navigon now. Even though the lastest Navigon let you start the app, HOWEVER WITHOUT DATA it doesnt accurate. You still need GPS+data to make it works.
Side note: Anyone know any ISC Rom now works with Navigon?

I had this prob too!
I bought an Energizer car charger that doubles as a wall mount charger. The key is it charges @ 2amps all the time. I NOW have a positive charge while driving at normal screen brightness AND GPS AND streaming Radio on 4g.
Im %99.9 sure you can do the same as long as your car mount charger is geared for 2 amps (Most are NOT)
There is another thread in here somewhere that address the charing aspects of the G-Note.
First off, they suggest getting a charger, that has two USB slots, one is a 1Amp and the other is 2Amp USB, so then you have 2Amps charging.
Does not really get to that much, so you need to buy a USB direct charge adaptor, which allows for the Note to charge in HIGH charge like at home, rather then trickle.

XDA is no longer worth my time.
Something else to take into account is the USB cable you are using with your chargers. If it is a data cable it will not charge at full capacity, you need to have a USB cable that is for charging only, it has the two line for data shorted. This make a huge difference. Even if you have the 2 AMP charger you will have issue with a data cable when charging.

I use a Rocketfish charger in the car and on a two hour road trip using GPS all the way and all phone services active it ended up about 5 or 6 percent higher than when I started the trip.

No, it is not.
While on charger you should gain on battery, not discharge.
At least if you use phone in a normal way.
With BT and GPS navigation on (and some data traffic) my phone gains charge...

Yes, it may happen. It depends on the mAh of the power source.
Usually the USB port delivers less mAh then the AC power source.
In that case, if you are running a demanding application (games especially) the power consumption could exceed the charging rate.

Depends on what the phone is doing at the moment, i.e. when it's on 100% CPU load for example.
Happens everytime I encrypt my S2 a rather full internal and external SDs storages, because the phone is "doing a lot of work".
If you then maybe add enabled WiFi, BT, GPS.... yeah, the power gets sucked out of the battery faster then the AC can pour new one in.
Only thing I'm doing is using tweetcaster while opening the ocasional web page with Dolphin browser, nothing intensive. I'm using the standard AC charger that came with the phone.
This morning after unplugging it, I noticed that in a couple hours time lapse, the phone was hot all the time and lost about 30% battery while on standby. So, I rebooted it and it stopped feeling hot on touch. Battery drain is still somewhat fast but not as fast as this morning.
I'm attaching a Battery Stats screenshot in case it helps.

And the phone getting hot also hints at high CPU load.
I am using TweetCaster myself a lot, and sometimes the app goes crazy and uses 100% of the CPU -> high load -> hot phone and empty battery.
I can reproduce it by deleting the temp folder of TweetCaster on the int. storage and either waiting some time or rebooting, the app will go wild at 100% CPU load for sure.
Ah ok then. Lol. Now I know what to do! Unless, do you recommend me another twitter app that is more battery friendly

Well, it's a good app, I don't wan't to bad-talk it.
Sometimes you just need to keep an eye on it, esp. in situations where the int. storage is not available for apps (like when connected via USB mass storage to the PC).
Usually killing it off from taskmanager is enough, on some not-so-often occasions I needed to "kill -9" the process from a shell (Termnial Emulator app or via adb).
I also got a neat little thing called "CPUNotify" (on Google Play) running on my phone, it adds a little icon to the notification bar that always shows you the current CPU load - that way you can literally "see" spikes in load once they happen.
Some time ago I had the same problem.
The problem was on the original Samsung charger. It has shown that it loads, but it lost battery.
I bought another charger and now it charges
its possible. I see this situation everytime I travel. In car I use stock car charger and on phone ussually runs navigation, video recording software and plays music. And battery is drained!!! If additionaly I start My Track, then 7-8 hours and phone is dead. On hot days even had situation, when battery reached 65C temp and phone refused to charge it. So at this point SGSII is real crap
