Honeycomb 3.2 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Why does the new 7.7 galaxy tab at the tech conference in Berlin have android 3.2 and touchwiz on it but the device that they are selling now, the tab 10.1, does not have android 3.2?

Um, because it's new?

I understand that. But if that can have 3.2 and touchwiz why not ours?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium

What he said!
Who says that the 7.7 has Tegra 2? It might be totally different?
Also, they didn't say that the software was ready yet did they?

Nevermind. It was late when I read the article. Samsung has something on it called android 3.2v. No one seems to know what that means.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium

Samsung won't announce when the 7.7 will be released until Oct. I would suspect the 10.1 will get 3.2 about the same time as the 7.7 goes on sale.

There was a thread by pershoot about porting 3.2, but there hasn't been any news for a while now.

The 7.7 will be running a 1.4ghz Dual-core Processor so it won't be Tegra2.

I read that the 7.7 has an exynos processor, so very different than ours.

I think the 3.2 update added support for the smaller screen tablets and that's why you see 3.2 on the 7.7

Really easy: Its a pre release firmware that doesnt nessesarily have all the bells and whistles, like optimized battery time, bootup time, optimal 3G etc... Stuff that is not needed in a showroom. 3.2 will come to the 8.9 and 10.1.
the V addon to the 3.2 means that the phone has a dialler, and is a customized build of 3.2.
Here's a small screenshot of the upcomming update to 3.1:

As you can see they have been testing a configurable firewall in a testing build of the upcomming update. (sorry the pic is in finnish). And I surely hope it will make it to the final build.

PhantomHacker will release a vanilla 3.2 ROM soon, without the TouchWiz garbage. Don't forget to donate.

Who would use the tablet as a phone? Hope it has one heck of a speaker.

With Bluetooth, you don't even need a speaker. Sony Ericsson MW600s and Google Voice (via Groove IP) works fairly well on my WiFi-only GTab. If I didn't have the Charge, a 4G LTE GTab might have been workable.

Actually I have used my 7" Galaxy Tab as a phone a few times with a Bluetooth headsed or with the handfree set that comes with the tab.
There are some situations when its useful, especially when you have to read something from the tab at the same time etc.
But I would not do it in a regular basis.

[Request][Q]Keyboard to rival iOS?

Hi guys,
I've been loyal to android for about a year now, but I only have one complaint: The keyboard
Typing on iOS is easy and great, even on a small screen. Why don't we have a keyboard with that fluid usability? I've tried Swype (prefer typing), Swiftkey X, the TW4 Keyboard, stock GB keyboard, and Thumb keyboard and they all seem to disappoint a little in the shadow of iOS's keyboard.
So my question is: Is anyone working on or thinking about working on a keyboard with iOS-like functionality? I'd honestly pay $5 to download a keyboard that works like the iPhone's.
If you have any keyboard suggestions, post them below.
While I am unable to post the keyboard - as I don't have it myself - apparently the keyboard on the Galaxy S2 in Korea is the best. No issues with the patents held here in the US by Apple, so the accuracy is the same as it is with iOS.
If anyone can find it, pull it, set up an apk that will work with other Android phones, it would be appreciated!

Sent Zedomax a PM hoping he will pull from his Galaxy S2. It was his video that I first saw the keyboard.

Around the 4 minute mark is the keyboard.
Depends on the responsiveness of your phone actually. I have an iPod touch 4g, and I like it so much better than any android phone I've owned.

...that's what I said, LOL. I love the iOS keyboard.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using XDA App
HAHA! That is why we are trying to get the other keyboard. It is (apparently) very much like the iOS keyboard and should be responsive and very accurate. I saw someone state that their accuracy went from 80% with the Android default to about 95% with the Samsung Philippians keyboard.

Not sure. I have to get the keyboard to see if it can be used on any other phone with stock ROM first. There may be a device check on the keyboard, though I do not know at the moment.
Need a daring person to try this app out. I found it from the Philippine Samsung Galaxy S2 Rom on this site. I cannot install it because I have the Samsung Keyboard already and it won't overwrite my current one - I need to root when it is good to go for the Epic Touch.
Let us know how it works.

parse error or just application did not install?
Thumb Keyboard
I keep going back to Thumb Keyboard, it seems to have the best autocorrect and is the quickest. Also, try A.I. type, although I don't like it, I know many who do.
There's an emulator in the market. It's $4.50.

There was recently a thread around here with the apk posted...but I can't find it. It may have been taken down by a mod. :/

The S's successor could be making an appearance as soon as IFA in just a months time. I would highly suggest waiting to check it out first.
I've owned a tablet S since just after its launch and while I use it daily, there is still plenty of room for improvement. I'm hoping Sony REALLY steps up its game for the next tablet so as to try and make a big splash.
told you guys about it
I have prove and pics, but don't know how to post it
If by prove pics you mean the FCC blueprint I already saw it...more importantly than spec I want to know the price... maybe if they get rip off all the gimmicks. Maybe the price would be some thing good. The tablet s was really expensive in his release
But because is kinda cheap right now... I was thinking to buy it preventing 5hat the s2 could be expensive hell
All that would really sway me would be proper ps3 connectivity. Was a real let down finding out that the tablet can do nothing with the ps3 yet a ancient psp can

New hidden world clock feature - ANDROID'S NEWEST EASTER EGG!

Ok first things first, I have a AT&T Samsung GS2 Skyrocket (US). Updated it a few months ago to the long awaited but crappier ICS; left lots of GB crumbs........ Anyways, may or may not work on other devices, but tried on Samsung Galaxy S3 and it worked also (both of which are on the ICS boat):
* Pull down the notification bar. Double-tap your regular ol' analog clock on the top right. *
BOOM - World clock pop-up like the one you'd find on Android's new tablets! Somewhat irrelevant use for me, but still a new Android Easter Egg!!!!
I might be coming late to the party & I've just never heard of this, or I might of just discovered something new. But I have to give thanks to the 3 yr old who managed to make it appear and who, ultimately, managed to make my jaw drop... SMH kids these days
G'day or night

[APK] XBMC Media Player

Recognized Developer kemonine96 managed to get the XBMC media player running on tegra 2 devices.
I'm running Recognized Developer Kasper_h's Pac-Man and XBMC is running flawlessly and wanted to still share it with our hardcore galaxy tab 10.1 users
But first... I want to share a little bit information what XBMC exactly is?
What is XBMC?
XBMC is a media player / HTPC software package that does just about anything you'd want on a home theater box or a portable media device. See http://www.xbmc.org for more information.
Some pictures:

You can start the App on startup with a startup manager if you want, hope to also see an OpenELEC built for tegra 2 devices, but since tegra 2 is non-neon it's not a good or easy idea to get it running on our devices. I hope you enjoiy the media center!!
What is OpenELEC?
OpenELEC is a ROM based on XBMC, for now, it is not supported on Tegra 2 devices and never officially will.
NO CREDITS GOES TO ME. I HAVE NEVER EVER WORKED ON THE ROM OR THE MEDIA CENTER, ALL CREDITS GOES TO THE DEVELOPERS Kasper_h FOR HIS ROM AND kemonine96 FOR COMPILING THE XBMC TO TEGRA 2 CHIPS!
