Is it possible for unroot mobile to change theme? - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

I searched all the themes and app section but not getting what I wanted to see.
At each and every post the are referring something CWM,etc. I checked, it deals with rooting.
So is there any way to use themes without rooting? I am with my new ACE and don't want to root withing warranty period but still wanted to enjoy new themes. So are there any theme which can be used without rooting?

No, but you can install other launchers from market.

Clockworkmod isn't about rooting. And rooting won't void your warranty as long as you restore to factory and pretend you never rooted.

A question for the devs...

This question is related to the bootloader problem & the upcoming 2.1 update....Could SE change the way the bootloader works and negate the progress you've made?
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10
since its not yet cracked ...i dont think SE will change the bootloader ...
i am not a dev .. this is what i think... but may be the new 2.1 needs a new bootlaoder ... so anything can happen .. but dev are keeping an eye on SE will loads its stock rom.. that way we can find ways to use to crack bootloader
I hope i can borrow this thread ...
Here's my question: Is there a way to delete certain games and programs that i don't and never will use without rooting my device? I like it the way it is right now, i just don't like that apps i'm not using wasting available space

-Profit!
I don't see how am i going to profit if i double the work. My question: "is it possible", was meant in this way: is there an app that allows doing this without rooting?
No, the default apps which came with the phone are located in a place which you can only reach when you have root access

One click root method, you literally have to install the .apk then click root. After you remove the programs you don't want, then click unroot. Doesn't get much easier than that
IS this one click method universal or specific from phone to phone? i am asking for my X8. There isn't a thread about this phone yet and because it is part of the same model group i'm asking here.
what?
What is horrible, the devs are days without saying anything about the breaking of the bootloader, we will do with the 10 x?, I begin to think that it is time to change by a HTC
you are the best, I encourage all devs, is that you can with this, I encourage and give them strong these of SE, thanks!

[Q] Just Rooted my JB 4.1.2 (XXELKC) What Next?

Hi,
I just rooted my S3 JB 4.1.2 (XXELKC) so what is next?
Any recommendation to make use of all the benefits of Rooting
You can Install Adfree, Go Backup or Titanium backup and make a full backup of your data, First go to Recovery (CWM) make a full system backup.
After that you may wish to try some Custom roms, CrDroid or Wanamlite or Foxhound they are very good ROMS.
If you do not know what for are you rooting your phone - do not do it.
Most likely, your base benefit will be:-
- loss of stability due to overclocking;
- loss of functionality due to app freezing in TB;
- worse case scenario: phone brick.
sorry mate but your post looks like:
I just have removed all the fuses in my house, and I replaced it with rigid cable, so what should I do next?
If you do not know what for are you rooting your phone - do not do it.
As the man says root does nothing .
You root for a reason and not if you have no reason .
You would be far better off reading the basics in the stickies before trying to do what you know nothing about and risking a bricked phone .

First Phone I rooted was the the t-mobile G1. I had no idea what I was doing at the time... We all have to start somewhere...

You can install apps like adaway or such as stated above. I just want to tell you one thing. Naturally you will be curious to use custom ROMs like Ultima (it's really cool) or such. But before trying each different ROM have a Full Wipe.
May take a look at this thread:

Also please in the future ask Questions in the Q&A section.

Thank you all for your replies. My main reason to root to try different apps that require rooting. I don't think anyone when started rooting his/her device knows everything and what to do without referring to some help from forums of reading somewhere.

Sorry, but... actually I was acting contrary to that. I rooted my SGS two years ago first time to freeze/uninstall bloatware and to ban some apps from net usage, or to limit its net usage to WiFi only (by the use of Titanium Backup and DroidWall, respectively).
Unfortunately, DroidWall needs the root all time while running, otherwise, I'd unroot device as soon as I finished cleaning.

I first rooted my LG GT540 so that I could flash a CM7 port, best choice I ever made.
Now I use it for Titanium, root explorers, adfree, getRIL , fasterGPS, multi window control and to obsessively flash roms mainly.

To RooT or Not To RooT... ???

I have a verizon samsung galaxy s4.
Sch-1545
Just got it a few days ago.
I am trying to decide if I wanna root it or not.
But since it voids the phone warranty.. before I decide to root or not.. I would like to know.. that if I do root.. will verizon find out? Is there a way that they can find out? Is there something I can do so that they dont know?
Incase I decide to return it.. cuz I have 12 more days to decide if I wanna keep it or not. So if I root, then decide I dont want it.. can I unroot and return it, without them ever knowing that I did root it??
Most times when you root, there are easy methods to remove all traces of it. I don't know the s4 well myself, but do some Google research and if it looks to be that way, I say go for it - SAFELY. Don't rush it, do your homework. But root is extremely useful, and allows for many great apps (supersu, greenify, etc) and is usually essential to get custom recovery, and flash new roms. I'm sure xda has plenty of articles on the matter.
Good luck!

Currently there is no bootloader unlock, but there's an alternative way to gain root. Its very easy to do if you have a PC at home. Just follow the steps in this link below. There's even a video to explain how to gain root step by step in this link --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=41718543
You can always restore your Verizon S4 back to stock if you want to return it and your warranty will not be voided. I have returned mine back to stock successful just to see how it worked. Hope this helps

[Q] Will I lose configuration (root)

I have read about rooting my phone for a long time, and I think I am finally going to do it. I really want to start using Google Wallet so that is the final push to root.
I do have a question that I have not been able to find the answer yet. I use Nova Prime launcher currently - will I use this once rooted? If so, when i root, is it similar to doing a factory reset - where I have to reinstall everything? If so what is the best way to back everything up? Titanium backup is only available for a rooted phone.
I know there are thousands of posts on rooting, but I couldn't find this answer.

You will be able to keep Nova Launcher when rooted and you'll be able to take advantage of the features when rooted.
Most ways to root now do not need/cause a factory reset.

Thank you for your reply. I have noticed lately that when I launch chrome, and start to search it is a bit laggy. If I root, will the performance increase?

Thanks for this question. I've been looking for missing things in my Understanding the basics before rooting your S3 thread.
I've added this under the "popular misconceptions" section.
Can I just say though, please can you post questions in q&a? General is not for questions or support

I don't think the two are related. Rooting won't increase the performance of an app. It might be an issue with chrome

[Q] Don't know what's wrong...

I'm new to rooting and the whole android scene. Just bought my s4 a month ago and rooted it this week. I've been trying to customize themes and icons and I know I need to deodex the files on my phone. I downloaded universal deodexer and dropped the files where I needed to but the program wouldn't run. My question is, is there any other way to deodex the files and how exactly do I locate them? Maybe I didn't locate the right ones.
First off, its pretty cool that you are actually trying to learn what you are doing. The initial learning curve is pretty big but you will get the hang of it piece by piece. I can't speak for everyone but I as still learning and started with the Droid years ago. Take a look at this post for some useful info. Credit to Obsidian for the definitions and links. Just take note that some of his definition do not apply to this phone since it was created for the Bionic, but most of the info is helpful and universal.

Now, to answer your question. Honestly I would flash a pre-deodexed rom and use it to modify things. A few are in the Samsung Development section that are basically TouchWiz minus the bloat. You may even find one there that suits you perfectly with no extra modding.

check out the youtube channel of DroidModd3rX... find his video titled "Verizon Galaxy S4 How To Unbrick, Unroot, Return to Factory Set"... even if you don't have a Verizon GS4 this will help you if you bricked your device. If you have a different Carrier than verizon then check out "wwjoshdew" channel on youtube........ check out his video titled "How To Unroot and Flash your Galaxy S4 to Stock Android 4.2.2"..... I'm sorry i didn't find you earlier.:crying: ........ this might help you to not pay where you "voided your warranty... please please please do this if you can get your phone back from the company. It will re-warranty your device.
It's ok, I found that video on you tube, and a couple others. I tried all their methods for I bricking, but to no avail. Now all it says is "firmware upgrade error. Please continue in Kies". But it won't let me do anything else.

Even ODIN?
Yea i tried Odin, 3.07 and I tried three different stock images and none of them worked. It got to a part during the process that said "Auth (fail)" and then it would close out the program. I just got my replacement yesterday but I'm kind of afraid to root it again lol.
Although I would really like to root it again, since half of the stuff I used it for had nothing to do with what caused the problem in the first place. I was just really excited to download and install a custom room that didn't lag as much as this nonsense from Samsung.

Your original problem sounded like you were trying to flash the mdk firmware on a me7 firmware which would cause auth fail in odin.
But I couldnt find any info above. If you did the the me7 root method you wont have write permissions because boot loader is locked. which would brick your phone when you flash a rom.
Is the me7 root method the one that roots through the micro SD? Is there a way to do so and unlock the bootloader currently or has one not been released yet for the newest Verizon update?

if you did it through terminal then yes. you are on me7 which is why odin gave you problems. currently there is no way to unlock the bootloader. only the firmware previous to me7 can unlock it. So you might be stuck for a while.
Well that's kind of a drag. Installing custom ROMs is the only thing that an unlocked bootloader does? Or is there another reason to root the phone now instead of waiting for a root that unlocks it? Sorry for all of the questions...

did you update to the new update that the phone was bugging you about when you first got your phone? if yes, then, YOU CANNOT FLASH ANYTHING! OR IT WILL BRICK YOUR DEVICE. if you haven't, then, thank the good Lord that you didn't fall into the samsung trap. you can check on Settings/mydevice/about_phone/Build_Number.... i believe the last frace would say me7... if then, you're kinda screwed for now... if you have something else than youre ok:good:... If you're verizon you WANT TO HAVE "MDK" as your last 3 characters on your build number. MDK= ......Good luck!

root still lets you uninstall or freeze that bloatware on your phone. Only thing I used iy for anyways. have about an extra 400mb of ram freed.
Well that is good to know in case I decide to go through with rooting again. Is there a way to uninstall that update? Or am I stuck waiting for a new method to root the phone that allows flashing? I might root again just to have some of the apps like gmd gesture and greenify.

no you cant do anything right now besides the root. cant uninstall because the bootloader is locked.
some rooted apps are nice to have. just gonna have to wait patiently
In that case, are there any apps you would suggest getting that won't destroy my phone again? I checked online for a list of must-have apps but half of them were directed at people who were experienced with rooting.

I would just get titanium backup for now. and remove some bloatware a safelist can be found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314265 would not experiment with deleting random things it could cause brick problems nothing much else. if you are not comfortablr with that just try and wait for bootloader to be unlocked which has no eta
I may just do that. If I were to root again on me7 since there's no unlock method, if one were to be released would I be screwed or is there normally a way to do that at a different time than the root?
