Please tell me there is a way to get the T-Mobile version of the XDA (from Canada) to work on the Orange network in the UK! :?:
I have just bought one for my Dad (I already have an O2 XDA on Orange) and I've gone into the bootloader and selected radio 900/1800 which i believe is what orange runs on, but when I put my Sim into the device it just says no service
It's currently got RS 6.24.00 on the device, do I need to change this to 4.21.00 ?
If so how ? As I can't see the option in the bootloader to load/backup rom's like on mine
Please help
Cheers
Neil
Anyone ?
try to do a search i'm pretty sure that the gsm settings cant just be changed in software, and if thats the case then a US (900/1900) can never be used in EU (900/1800)
xda2 dont have that issues because it's triband (900/1800/1900)
Have tried searching already... couldn't find anything of relevance
There is the option in the bootloader that includes 1800, can't remember what the other exact options were as I don't have the phone with me atm. But I'm pretty sure the one I selected was 900/1800, so I hope (and pray) that this phone supports 1800.
Do I also need to select the band through WM2003 aswell as doing it in the bootloader?
Can someone confirm what band the UK networks Orange and Vodafone use, just to make sure I'm trying it with the right ones...
Any help much appreciated, as I'm getting desperate on this one, as its a crimbo present for my dad..
Cheers
Neil
EU as in all cellphone companies use 900/1800
it's the EU std like PAL is
US use 900/1900 and i dont think anybody else use that
did a quick search in the forum and came across this
http://xda-developers.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=3064&highlight=900+1800
S**t S**t S**t thats not good
I've just been doing some searching on google and found that Cellnet and Vodafone use 900 & 1800, and Orange and One2One use 1800.
Does this mean I will be able to use Voda or Cellnet as they use 900.. and the phone is on 900 / 1900 ????
Cheers
Probably, just shove a voda or O2 card in and see what happens.
Thanks to everyone who helped, my Dad has now been given his PPC and it works on Voda
Hi everyone,
i have one short question.
I'm currently living in the US for the next few months and my HTC Desire keeps on rebooting and HTC won't repair it in the US, because it's an german vodafone branded version.
Anyways, i need a new phone.
If I buy the SGSII here in the US, will I be able to use it in Germany aswell?
Because currently I cannot use 3G with my Desire (carrier is t-mobile), only EDGE. It would be a real bummer if I couldn't use the SGSII to it's full extend (meaning 3G etc.) in Germany.
Thanks for your answers!
Th unlocked Europe version is compatible with both Europe and US 3g radios.
ya well, but i want to buy it in the US and use it in europe. Not the other way round.
I think that's what he meant.
Never live in the past but always learn from it.
Could just buy Europe version online.

That's what I meant... Plus there are a stores in the US that will sell it.
gs2 unlocked version is quadband 3g 850, 900, 1900, 2100mhz. i'm assuming german is 900mhz. so you can use 3g in anywhere except tmobile usa (1700mhz).
Hi,
I am currently in taiwan, and I was just wondering if I bought a gs2 here, and unlocked it, would I be able to use Rogers with it? Im scared that after I buy it, that some functions won't work. Im a total nub at this so I tried to search things up, but nothing came up. Please help .

Really depends on the 3G bands it supports as different countries will have different versions of the SGS2. If it supports 3G 850mhz you're good to go.
its in chinese (which i can barely ready ) but it says something like HSPA 21 Mbps, does that represent the 3g or 4g
My phone is from the UK and i'm on fido from Canada. Everything works perfectly fine. I believe Rogers owns Fido too, so I would guess yes. Everything should work just fine.
my friend tells me because im buying it from taiwan, that it is automatically unlocked so i dont need to unlock myself, is that true?
I am using it right now with Rogers. No problem at all.
I got the Atrix for an awesome price but the thing is it wont work on 3G in Orange Dominicana GSM network so now my friends want Android Phones instead of there blackberrys but they wont leave Orange so i dont know which android phones are good for them. Can you Guys tell me some of the best value Android Phones that can get in 3G with Orange from Dom. Rep.

Did you try any T-Mobile US phones?
Hey! Found your question on Google, and I felt like I had to answer this.
Did you try any T-Mobile US phones? When I go to the Dominican every summer, I bring a T-Mobile phone and I get a 3G signal instantly, even when I'm in Mao Valverde, and as you know in El Cibao, the signal drops from 3G to GSM especially as you leave Santiago or any metro city. Yes I am using Orange Dominicana, I'm in the Dominican right now, I searched on ebay and found the HTC Sensation unlocked used for $155. If you search on the Orange site I found the Samsung Galaxy S2, this is a good phone too, sold on AT&T here in the States. I hope I helped you! P.S.- Lmaoo at your friends wanting to change from a blackberry to an Android device, my parents and my friends are doing the same either with Android or an iOS device.
Hey guys.
I'm Dominican and bought an ATT GS2 but 3g doesn't work on it.
Can you guys help me.
Don't know if I have to flash a new modem on it or what.
Return it! or go to Claro

It just wont work with Orange Over 3G because Orange provides data over the 900Mhz Band and the AT&T version does not support it.
Claro does support the 850Mhz which your phone runs perfectly so if you switch to Claro you'll get 3G. Also the Galaxy S2 i9100 Global Version (I Have it and it works even with Viva ) might be good for you maybe its too late for a return but who knows.

I don't really understand how cell phone providers work, but my friend is in Germany for another year before he comes back to the US.
Would Samsung Galaxy SIII Smartphone (16GB, UK Sim Free Unlocked) work from the amazon.co.uk site for him to use on T-Mobile in Germany, then return to the US and use it on a new contract at Verizon/T-Mobile/Sprint?
It will certainly work in the UK and Germany, with the same modem. The phone will operate on the right frequencies for the USA but I'm not sure you'll get the best out of it, as there will be no specific modem for the i9300 in the USA. Calls & texts will certainly work but data could be slow or none at all.
