camera widescreen option ? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wish I could set it so the photos I take are full screen, I just been taking pics with my epic and transfer them over via dropbox. I also wish we could turn off the shutter sound
Showing off photos on my tab looks much nicer when it takes the full screen instead of a box. On my epic I can set fullscreen and shut the shutter sound off.

[Q] Digital Picture Frame Mode

The Samsung site talks about a Digital Picture Frame Mode for the Tab 10.1.
Does this actually exist as I cannot find it?
How do I make my Tab 10.1 display selected pictures full screen at a rate of my choosing so that I can have it as a digital picture frame as it sits on my desk?
I have tried using the Gallery App to run a slideshow but it doesnt seem to allow you to change the time delay between pictures (unless Im missing something!).
I couldn't find how to change display time in gallery either. I have an app called Photo Slides that has a lot of options for transitions and all that. It doesn't over-ride the bottom bar, but works pretty well otherwise.

[Q] HTC Camera touch to capture photo makes high pitched screech

My new HTC One (bought it in Australia) sometimes makes a high pitched scream screech sound when I use the Touch to Capture feature when taking photos. If I use the normal shutter icon (with the shutter sound off) it doesn't make the high pitched sound at all. If I reboot the phone or kill the camera app (dragging the camera off from the multi-task window) then it is fine again for x number of photos.
My best guess is that it has something to do with the Optical Image Stabilization doing something funny? That is how it moves the CCD so as to counter camera shake. Is it possible that it has to focus faster when you touch the screen? It is still taking amazing sharp clear photos.

[Q] Camera

Hey everyone. I was just wondering what was everyone's take on the settings for the camera. I'm still undecided on the Anti-Shake usage in camera mode. It seems that it has a tendency to add more grain/noise to the picture (you can even notice it by carefully looking on the screen when you enable and disable it). Does it really help reduce blurry photos (since the phone does have digital image stabilization)? Also, same thing for video mode using video stabilization. Is it really beneficial to have it enabled? Since if you take pictures while recording, I think the resolution of the photo alters. Just wanted to know what would be the best settings in overall day-to-day usage.
I was just coming in here to complain about the camera myself and see what others are saying for best settings. I cannot either seem to get mine to take pictures without being blurry - in any type of light or with the flash.

P30 pro features/issues people don't talk about much

Hi there,
I wanted to start a discussion about stuff that we like/dislike about this phone, but not the obvious stuff - rather things that are not much talked about. When I read about this phone, most popular topics are about fingerprint sensor, screen resolution, 50x zoom, night mode...
So first, things I don't like:
1. Aspect ratio issues:
- No 16:9 photos aspect ratio.
- Screen 19.5:9 aspect ratio can cause issues in games/applications that only support 16:9 aspect ratio. It's not a huge issue, because most apps support wide screen. It's also the same for other wide screen phones.
- Screen mirroring to TV - because of 19.5:9 aspect ratio, there are black bars on top and bottom, so when you are viewing 4:3 photos on 16:9 TV, the photo is very small and shown only in the center of TV with black bars around it. I don't know how other wide screen phones work, but I guess the same way.
2. Camera:
- There is no way to force the camera app to use the optical 5x zoom in photo mode/videos when the light is low. For me it was a huge issue when I was recording a concert and the camera was jumping constantly between 5x optical and digital zooms. Digital had more view on scene where the light was good, so it jumped to optical lens, optical view is out of sync so bigger part of view was on the dark crowd and it jumped back to optical again. There was no way to record it with zoom.
- How different lenses view is synced - widescreen and normal 1x are in sync when changing between them, you get basically the picture in the same position, but 5x optical and normal are just so much out of sync, that it is very very visible how it switches when you go from 4.9x to 5x. Not a huge issue, but it could be better.
- There is no level indicator in other modes than pro.
3. Speaker:
- The quality is OK at most, when compared to Samsung for example (Samsung S10 has amazing speakers), but it's a phone after all, so I don't expect much anyway.
Now things I like:
1. Huawei Share. My god, this thing is amazing. You can just connect your PC to your phone with WiFi and browse files normally as if it was connected with a usb cable! That is truly amazing. I didn't have it in Xiaomi, newest Samsung phones also don't have it. Why nobody talks about this amazing feature?
2. Camera app:
- Amazing zoom possibilities, 5x zoom which I'm using constantly during my trips and I don't know how people can say they don't use it much. There is something called perspective and this photo shows what I'm talking about. You can get especially amazing pictures when you have mountains in the background. So much discussed 50x zoom is not really usable, but 20x still has amazing quality.
- All different modes, especially the light painting/silky water is nice. Also the pro mode with so many different settings and 30 seconds shutter time. There are much more modes and possibilities than most youtube reviewers show us. They usually just show night mode, 5x zoom, 50x zoom and that's it. Like that's just 10% of options in that app! When you really start knowing the app, it is just much better than Samsung or Xiaomi camera apps. You can shoot much better pictures when you know what you are doing.
3. EMUI:
- I really like this system, the icons, design, features, it's really nice. I don't know how anyone can 'hate' this system? I came to EMUI from Xiaomi and Samsung phones and for me it's just better.
Huawei P30 Pro is my first Huawei phone and I must say I'm really impressed by the price/quality ratio. What are your thoughts?
Point 2: tray to rec videos with opencam or edgecam. You can choose 1x camera and zoom in or you can choose 5x camera. No changes between they.

this to me is a huge issue...as i was trying to photo one of our dogs in evening time and it would only zoom via digital.....every now and then it would flicker to ultra clear optical but not for long enough to get a shot.
no workaround at all for it ?...i see no mention of it in google searches.
i can imagine being in the same situation as you recording a gig and that would be troublesome.

ID 1 is front camera
ID 2 is main lens
ID 3 is wide angle lens
ID 4 is zoom

You just tap the icon to switch to the selfie camera and when you tap it again it takes you to the next lens. I discovered it by accident

Yes, for photo it works, but then you get no AI... Also normal photo AI handles the 5x zoom when light is low better than pro, I guess it takes digital zoom which is bright and merges it with optical which is dark
As for the video, I tried the open camera, but from what I can see, it only allows to switch between normal 1x and 5x zoom, but when you zoom to 5x it works the same as huawei built in cam app... So it switches to digital and back to optical all the time.
Edgecam also allows you to use all the lenses

With edgecam or opencam you can choose the lense.
If you choose 1x lense an make zoom is only digital zoom.
For 5x optical zoom you must change to 5x lense.

Mine stays on optical all the time in video.
Yes pictures are generally better with AI but OC enables you to stay with optical even when light is low.
Issue :ghost notifications.
By ghost notifications i mean there is a sound and vibration but nothing else. Now I am pretty used to them, but from day one and after a couple of updates, they are still present. I have disable notifications from almost all apps except messaging ones, but ghost notifications keep going! Even during night with flight mode on. ?

Where do I find Edgecam? It's not in the UK Play Store as far as I can see.
Sorry, hedgecam 2.
Maybe I'm missing something as I am very new to this phone. I have set my phone to lock after 2 minutes but whenever it locks, it makes a click type sound which I find very distracting. I wish I could turn that off.

Actually you can turn it off.
Go to Settings ---> Sounds (or Tones) then pick the last entry and deactivate Lockscreen sound.
I don't know how it looks in english, as my native language is German

Camera settings

I would like you to check something that drives me mad with my new Oppo Reno 2. In camera settings, I always set video settings in 1080p and 60 fps. Whenever I change to bokeh effect or wide angle for example, when I untick one of them, values for camera reset to 1080p 30 fps. It´s annoying changing this every time I want to make a video. Even if I do not change anything and shoot a video in 60 fps non ultra stabilization mode, and get out of the camera app, a time later when I enter again, values for camera are changed to 1080 30 fps again. I do not know the reason why or because it is something about performance or battery saving or not.
I just would like you to check if this happens. Change settings to 60 fps and change to wide angle or do not change anything and do whatever you want with your smartphone and after a while, don´t know how much, enter again and see if it changes. Much appeciate it.
EDIT. I must add that it seems that setting main camera to 48 mg also resets to default after a while. What´s this?
Haha. Happens to me either.
I was like "what the hell, didn't I switched to 60fps the other day?"
Let's just hope that Color OS 7 will fix this little issue.
Thanks a lot mate. Thanks a lot for answering. It's a really great great beautiful stylish smartphone and I'm glad I'm not the only one facing that bug. Anyway, I will always stick on 1080p 60 fps through ultra stabilization button every time I use the video because I think it's incredible the result, too much to miss it. That's the trick I use.
I'm new with this Oppo, only two days and I'm getting used to it. And one thing around my mind is the aspect ratio of photos. The gorgeous screen invites me to take photos in full screen mode as the difference in quality seems not to be enormous and this full screen makes people astonish when they see a photo just taken at the moment in all its splendor without any black bars at both sides.
But I know the quality is 4000x1800 in full screen mode and 4000x3000 in 4:3 aspect. Do you prefer taking photos in one or other aspect ratio? The screen is so good that I don't want to miss anything at all. And as we can't yet use our personal preferences in settings such as 48 megapixels mode, which I'll stick if its solved by an update, which are your preferences when taking photos according to these two aspect ratios? And thanks again. Writing from Spain here.
Well, i'm no expert at all, but i'd say that 48mpx mode is the only mod i would not advise, as there's always some loss in terms of color.
Using full-screen mode or default 4:3 is probably based on personal taste. You're losing much information (as the photo is much narrower) and it can be harder to put everything you want in the frame.
Though, it looks very good in the phone's gallery indeed.
I'd probably go for using full screen if you watch your photos only on your phone, but 4:3 for a more versatile use.
Mates, absolutely solved everything with new update to Color 7. Camera settings will remain as our personal preferences. More intuitive camera options. Now it's perfect.
About using one or other aspect ratio in photos, I mean in terms of quiality, I don´t know what to do. I do not want to loose quality using full screenmode if that means that using 4.3 aspect ratio implies a better quality. But what I can tell is that versatility is also present in full screen mode because if we see photos on tv, it aproaches to that aspect ratio and there´s more space taken by the picture on screen. Making a photo report or video report also takes advantage of this ratio because when we use the programs to edit photos and make a photo compilation, it adapts to that kind of format. So the only dude here is quality. Perhaps is the same in both modes.
