Hey all, I recently read something about an ipad app that lets the ipad control the iphone's camera over wifi... there's a video with the process :

is there something like this for android that would work with the nc?

Hey guys (and gals),
Real quick question. I am running a Hero 2.2 Vanilla and am having difficulty finding a video app (native or otherwise ...doubletwist) that will play videos in rotation. To clarify, I am a fan of music videos and have several on my phone but the player will not cycle from one to the next on the list automatically like it does with music. I have to choose the next vid manually. I know the iphone (grrr) and my ps3 have this capability and was wondering if you might have some ideas.
Thanks,
~Jill~
Moved to Q&A as not development
OK, thanks Pulser. Sorry for the misplace.
No worries. I don't use videos on my phone much, but what about yxflash or something like that?
Hi Leo Users,
I am considering buying this phone but I need to see how well it handles in android.
Can someone post a video using one of the most recent and more working roms? I want to get an idea of how well it goes.
1. What is currently not supported on the leo?
2. Does all of its ram get ported in android or does it use only a smaller part?
3. What about the camera? Is the camera app using the camera to it's full potential?
4. Video playback? Does it play hd?
5. Is a nand installation of android possible?
Thank you!

1. For each Android distro out there it says in its own topic what's working and what it is not. I know it can't record video in HD 720p.
2. As far as I know, Android uses all available RAM.
3. There are still some issues with the camera, mostly because improvements are still made to native Android phones. I doubt you will use the camera like that. I don't consider it a low point.
4. Video playback is really good and it also plays HD. I tried with some Youtube HD videos and they were ok. Haven't tried with a computer encoded fully fledged HD. I know that there are video players on Android Market that can play all Xvid encoded videos out of the box. Just copy it on the SD card and you are set.
5. At this moment, NAND installation is not possible. There were some major improvements done and I think it will be possible to be functional at some point.
6. I would add the fact that HD2 can run a lot of Android flavors because it can launch them from within WinMobile. This is something you can never achieve with a native Android phone.
7. Battery drainage is still heavy. Every day something new is discovered on how to improve battery life.
I see you own a Wildfire. HD2 is a lot better that it. I read it on a Romanian tech blog, an editor made a comparison between native Android phones and HD2.
Does anybody managed it to get Video Calling working on the viewpad 7?!
I have no luck, no matter what custom rom or kernel I use, theres no video option in the settings...:-(
So far...happy with my rooted Viewpad on 800Mhz
Sorry, wish I could bring you better news, but I haven't been able to get it working either. A bit surprising considering the front camera, according to Skype they will support devices with front camera. Is it the lack of Flash support that blocks its usage?
Hi Im as well not able to use video calls on Skype on Viepad7,Now there is a new ROM and some Flash 10.1 that was hacked to work on our old ARM processor) maybe this could help...Durring weekend I should be able to test this ROM but looks to be ok...

(*- added apps: Hacker's keyboard, Flash Player 10.1, ES file Explorer, 1clickcleaner, Dazzle power widget.)
fring
use fring works with front camera
but there s no more skype support in fring, afaik... ;-(

Anyone got news?
I do not understand why there is a frontal camera and no software to use it
The way I understand it, it's Skype itself that does not support it, our viewpad should be able to handle it.
Problem would probably in the Camera API that does not properly support calls to the front camera, that was only added in android 2.3
Would be nice if someone could test some video calling apps and let us know what works and what does not. I'm curious to see if there are any implementations that can acccess the front camera from 2.2.2
App's name viber can video call from front cam, may be cause microsolf buy skype and don't want to develop good app for android I think. Hahahahaha

I just got my new galaxy note (i717) on friday (immediately flashing it with OnlyOne beta 2 (ics)) and I would like to use it for a bit of podcasting using the front camera to record myself while I read text from some teleprompter software.
I can record video from the front camera just fine, and it actually comes out a bit higher quality than I expected even, but for the life of me, when i hit the record button and then switch away from the camera app to the prompter app, it gives me an audio notification that the camera has stopped recording.
is there prompter software that has an integrated video recorder? (that'd be pretty sweet imho) or better, some way to record video while another app (that's not particularly resource intensive) is in use? - I don't mind trimming and cutting the video together (there are actually some pretty decent editing tools for android i've found) but I can't figure out a way to record and prompt at the same time...
does anybody have any ideas?
I'm rather surprised that nobody seems to have any ideas on this... could someone at least please relay to me why this isn't possible (if it's not possible)?
I would think that this would be a reasonably popular thing to do (recording video whilst looking at a prompter or even a web page or something to do podcasting stuff...
Is this something I'm going to have to write? (I have no idea how to dev android apps).
well i'm glad to see that google does a good job at finding appropriate threads - here it is, a couple of months later, and I'm revisiting the same problem that I had before - I still can't record and prompt at the same time on my i717 (now running cm9 / cm10, not that it should matter)... I still don't get it.
i don't know what to say , u searched a program on google?i believe that is here at least 1 program for your note
Video app with built in teleprompter
There is a great teleprompter/video recording app. It's called VRT2. Unfortunately you would have to downgrade to an iPad to get it. When I saw it, I was tempted o make the switch, but I don't want to give up the advanced features of my Samsung Note 10.
I'm hoping that a great Android app developer will create something like the VRT2 soon.
When it's ready, I'm ready to buy it.
I still can't seem to find anything that does this and it would be *great* for quick video podcasting... I just want to be able to record myself on the front camera while either reading my notes or looking at a teleprompter with the outline i've created for the segment.
Video recorder teleprompter
Have you found any other software to video you with front facing camera with teleprompter on screen?
I know Ipad have one on itunes costing somewhere 24 dollars or £18 which is a professional one, not tried it but I now it does record you and at the same time has all the words you want to talk about in front of you.
Keep up to date, I don't know which tablet to buy because of this problem.

Hi, I just found this great tweak for jailbroken phones, that modifies video playback speed in any app: cydia.saurik.com/package/com.harrisonapps.fastforward/
I was wondering, is there a similar app for rooted android phones that does the same thing? Basically an app that will cause videos in certain apps be played back faster than normal? Thanks.
