[REQUEST] BackTrack 5 ARM with monitor mode - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

As the Bootloader is cracked and a new kernel has been made.. and now we can use loop file support and tweak with wifi.. So can anyone make backtrack 5 chmod or whatever they can do! just please Make it work on our device and please don't forget to enable the monitor mode!!

chrooting you can check my thread linked in my sig that is supposedly working on all devices not just X10i also monitor mode is something which is far fetch as of now... coz as per my understanding of drivers and firmware limitation is at the firmware level.
the code inside chip doesn't know how to handle monitor mode.

Running it on the x10 is worthy. but whats the use to run it on a tiny 2.5 in screen? on the x10 it is nice.

If i have find the good documents, WiFi, Bluetooth and radio are embedded into one sing chip (aka WL1271a from Texas Instruments).
More information here : *ttp://focus.ti.com/general/docs/wtbu/wtbuproductcontent.tsp?contentId=29993&navigationId=12762&templateId=6123
Unfortunately it's appear than monitor mode is not working for the moment : *ttp://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers
I just hope i am wrong... I really would like this feature working !

[Android] Myn’s Warm Donut

Update: New release (RLS 5)
-Comes with 'rogue tools' for overclocking and setting display density will need an update over market to support nike, myn told me he will push it to the market during the next day or so)
-feels smoother, connectivity seems to be a lot better (I never had a faster browsing experiance on my nike than with this build and opera mini), rejoining network after lost signal also seems to be faster
-nice new weather/clock widget
-if you use installd version, the androidupdate.tar from rls4 is still necessary for powermanagement
Myn's new (16.03.2010) Donut android build runs quite smooth on nike! Finally a decent alternative to Ion on nike.
Get it from the vogue forums (SQSH version):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=619980
Here is a link to the basefiles I am using:
http://84.23.71.227/kerneloftheday/RootfsBasefiles20100318.zip
The kernels are from dzo's branch with a few minor fixes (vibration, irq-wakeup, red led blinking when in sleep mode). Additionally the kernels should work with enabled HW3D in eclair with boot parameter hw3d.version=1 (not tested yet...).
HowToInstallInANutshell:
-delete old android files from sd
-extract basefiles to sdcard
-extract system.sqsh from myns package and copy to sd
-if you are on a nike100 make sure deafault.txt points at the kernel without vibration (included)
-otherwise default.txt should be fine, most parameters are ignored anyway.
-run haret
-be happy
Impressions:
-sleepmode 1 ok, wakes up, red led blinking. Battery life seems ok, but i only tested a few hours...
-very fast
-many locales, not just english like in good ol' ion
-quite stable net, nice apn autodetect (just had to select from two alternatives), working google stuff
-still not working: bt, incall volume, cam
So, give it a shot and leave your impreesions here!

********** UPDATE ************
Installation with the NoRootfs Method is now possible with working net and powermanagement. This gives us the possibility to use the Themes and the default font and everything else that can be provided via androidupdate.tar
See the Wiki for installation instructions. Make sure that you have the provided 'androidupdate.tar' (see attachment, file is in the zip archieve) in your andboot folder along with the androidinstall.tar when installing.
To install themes just copy them in you andboot folder (must be named androidupdate.tar), reboot into menu -> update (-> fix permissions).
PS: Doesn't seem to work with eclair builds, but could work with other donuts
PPS: This should also work with ext2, if someone tried successfully please let me know. €: Works with ext2
Additionally the kernels should work with enabled HW3D in eclair with boot parameter hw3d.version=1 (not tested yet...).

you've added hw3d support? I tried to do that - all that I got is 3D without textures or simply nothing - black screen. I did same as in this commit in repo.
I did the same. The only build i saw it working was aosp eclair for kaiser (gallery3d worked). Otherwise i got the same errors. I read that the other devices suffer from similar problems.
Ps: Writing this on myns donut. Everything stable so far.

Hi mblaster,
works like a charm here. Very fast and stable. This is the first ever Donut Build with stable working Data i've seen....
Only Point is, that icons are really very small. Seem to me even smaller than in the old Cupcake Releases with 320x480...
Tried higher settings for lcd.density, but screens don't fit than anymore.
Have you tried it with a non modded system Image ?

ECLAIR
because you are starting another section of the eclair?
already has almost no one accessing the other thread ...... I have a question there for two days and no one responds more ..
I am very impressed with the progress of the android in my eclair NIKI100 (20 keys)
is making calls, receiving messages, all volumes of the system are working (calls, music (I had to install another player why that came standard did not work), alarm etc. ..) I'm using it for three days, battery lasts long , it does not heat the unit, since I use it in everyday life.
now I have some questions for you:
is so difficult to operate the headphones?
I love listening to music, especially in the way of work, if possible, please someone do work ....
particularly hate wm, I think one day we niki users, we can get the WM and definitely use the android, (because you can try to do everything, are the gods of HTC ....).
another question, I can change the theme of the eclair? wanted it like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=600154, it is possible??
I'm not charging, just begging! rsrsrsrs
Congratulations XDA....( GODS OF HTC)
Hi there,
together with mblaster's combination of basefiles in the first post of this Thread, the sqsh Version of the image in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591104 works also...
mblaster; seem's you've found/made the ultimate combination for Donut Images. PERFECT !

Theming with Metamorph
I been reading around on Vogue's thread and Metamorph catched my attention. It can style up android theme. Is this apps runs well on this build. I am confused because based on this site http://www.androlib.com/android.application.stericson-xda-metamorph-xnFD.aspx it can only run n Rooted phones. What is rooted phones anyway and can this run well in nike100 with the android build posted in this thread?
When is the nand version available? I think the only thing missing now in nike100 are camera and vibration features. Great job!
More Power!!!
Anyone encountered the "Half Size" icon problem ?
This is, when there's a reload of the Home Screen, all icons are suddenly half the size than normal. I had this after leaving the Browser.
Couldn't find a solution for that behaviour. Any ideas ?

You have to disable PIN in WinMobile afaik for all builds so far.
About wifi: The stickies say no wifi on nike. Never.

thanks anyway for Pin code tip.
Network problem
got two bugs here.
1. browsed from wm then switchd to android. i cannot connect anymore when in android. even if i reconfigure my apn.
2. switching from phon mode to airplane mode and airplane mode to phone mode will stuck in airplane mode.
@mblaster
how to enable apn autodetect?

First of all, good idea with the new wiki. Hope to add some things in the near future...
had the idea of creating system.sqsh files of all variants (Themes) of the original Vogue Thread. So i downloaded one of the androidupdate.tar files, und untared it "over" the files of the original ones in the androidinstall.tar file. Made an ext2 System and then a Squashfs System with genext2fs.
But no success....
Booting stucks obviously just before the Android Setup Wizzard should appear. Any Ideas ? Perhaps a permission problem ?

probably a story about the rootfs because of different load types (NoRootFs vs. Classical sqsh File) ?
so what about mounting the original sqsh Image and untaring the update "over" the rootfs ? ...
@lagloose: Might be an issue because the androidupdate.tar files are made for norootfs. Perhaps its time to move on to an installed version without rootfs...
@ebautista: Sorry, but I do not maintain myn's build. Perhaps it would be a good idea to report bugs in myn's thread in the vogue forums. APN detection worked for me right out of the box. Do you use the basefils from this thread?
€: your brainflash was faster than my typing... but perhaps you should at laest try to set the right permissions, it might work
Hi all,
Just tested sqsh Image from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628459. Not completely tested but seem to work also with our basefiles.
I'm working on a way to get themed Images for us Nike Users. Still some problems to solve, but shouldn't be that difficult...
As soon as i've found a way, i'll state it here.
Greetz, lagloose
I really would suggest to move on to NoRootFs for various reasons:
The theme packages are already available there
The basefiles are still supported and regularly updated, while SQSH is dying out, and as there are very few devs for nike we should try to profit from the progress made on other devices
There should be no drawbacks, just a few more MB on sd-card for the system
The installer for systems / updates is extremely useful (theming, installing your favourite apps in one shot ...)
Give it a try, you will find a little howto and links to ressources in the wiki
mblaster,
€: OK, I have good and bad news. The good news is that it seems like you can keep your datafile after switching to norootfs. The bad news is that sleep doesn't work anymore (same settings/build/kernel) -> The problem that prevents us from using more recent builds seems to exist inthe basefiles!!!
Basically thids leaves two possibilities: Either its in the part of the nonexistant rootfs that now is part of the system, or (my guess) it is in the initrd. At least it does not seem to be a problem with the kernel.

I am quite sure now that the initrd is fine and the problem is in the Rootfs, or better what is left of it. The latest working basefiles include a Rootfs dated to 2009-11-16. There is a newer Rootfs on sourceforge (sometime in december 09) that shows the same problems (net/powermanagement/shutdown). As parts of the rootfs are included in the androidinstall.tar images, thos errors are still there. My update file (now included in post 1) overwrites those files with versions from the 11/16 rootfs. That leeds to a working system (with the new initrd).
Unfortunately the update is incompatible with the newer eclair builds that are around. Seems like they use another rootfs that rejects the old files...
Does anyone maintain a git repo of the rootfs? It would be interesting to patch the problem for good

[Q] How to unlock the Chinese Huawei Ascend Glory+ [T8950]

Hi,
I first tried the method below:
Is someone trying to develop a Custom ROM for the Huawei Ascend G600 (U8950D)?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943003
But the phones are not just different band versions, as mentioned in post 58 of the thread above. The T8950 is not kernal compatible with the U8950D:
http://www.jetdroid.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=106&t=8383
Indeed, the T8950 is equipped with MTK6517 dual-core processor, the MT6517 and MT6577 are the same, A9 architecture 40nm processor, clock ed speed is 1.0Ghz.
http://defendgun.com/2013/01/22/mobile-customized-huawei-glory-t8950-listed-price-at-261/
I don't pretend to have any knowledge about rooting phones, I just was able to find the correct information on the web. I spend two weeks figuring this out. So I hope I can save somebody else his time with this information.
this is how I did it.
UNLOCKING THE BOOTLOADER
--------------------------------------------------
the bootloader of the T8950 is not locked, so it does not need to be unlocked. Allight, step one done!
INSTALLING THE CMW CUSTOM RECOVERY TOOL
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The T8950 does indeed not have a fastboot mode. the CWM custom recovery can be installed by flashing the ROM using the Flash tool of Mediatek
tutorial: http://bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.com/2012/05/mt6575-flashing-tutorial.htmlthe correct files to use in the tutorial can be found here:
- SP_Flash_Tool_exe_v3.1224.01 --> http://www.mediafire.com/?c8lr368ceaqk7tv
- MediaTek DA USB VCOM drivers --> http://www.mediafire.com/?h0ytkyagj0kf89u
if all went well, you should have a different recovery screen now.
ROOTING
-----------
Tutorial: http://bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.com/2012/02/complete-guide-to-clockworkmod-recovery.html
The fileto be used is:
- RootT8950.zip --> http://www.mediafire.com/?je47wz2ozjr7oth
After the update is finished, reboot . Now, you should see Superuser in your Huawei T8950 app list. You can double check if you have root, using the "got root?" app.-->https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.island51.gotroot
INSTALLING THE GOOGLE SERVICES
----------------------------------------------------------
Since the the CWM custom recovery tool is installed now and the phone is rooted, it's very simple to add the google services to the phone. I used the GAPPS of Cyanogen. You can find them on many places, e.g.
http://www.needrom.com/mobile/gapps-cyanogen/
choose the right version, most likely your T8950 will have android ICS 4.0.4
istallation is the same as installing the rooting ROM

Hey TeTTiweTTi!
I can not say how glad I am that you wrote this tutorial. It seems that this is actually the only tutorial on how to truly unlock the T8950 (at least for non russian-speakers )
Still, I'd have some questions:
How do you install the VCOM driver? I downloaded it, but I can only find .inf files.. How do you install them?
Did you flash the whole ROM or just a part of it, as shown in the tutorial? And what exactly happens when you flash the ROM? Are you able to boot afterwards? It seems to just install CWM - right?
How do you apply the update RootT8950.zip?
Help would be appreciated a lot, since you seem to be the only one who knows how to properly do it
Oh and btw: did everything work for you after flashing the ROM? Or did you encounter any errors?
Cheers,
amannn
Hi, it was indeed not so easy to collect these bits and pieces together
here an answer to your questions
1.
The .inf files are the drivers. There are two ways to install the drivers. One way is to right click on the .inf file and choose "Install". The other way is to start the process with SP Flash Tool and as soon as you plug in the phone a new device will be detected and you have the choice to install the drivers.
Also, it is very important to make sure that you click "Download" first before you connect the device. Actually there is a trick, below the sp flash tool, you will see something that says "USB". Click "Download" and wait for the "USB" to become "Searching". Once it is "searching" then connect the USB. SP-Flashtool should be able to capture it before it disconnects itself again.
2.
yes, you only flash a part of the ROM, so you don't need to have all the files in the SP Flash Tool. Only the ones mentioned in the tutorial. Your phone will boot normal, nothing will be changed yet. But now you will have the CWM custom recovery when you start up in recovery mode.
3.
the linked tutorial is quite clear. Let me know if you cannot reach the page or you encounter a problem.

Hey TeTTiweTTi!
Thank you very much again for your detailed explanation!
So i think I've installed CWM recovery successful. Therefore, I'm now working on the rooting part.
The RootT8950.zip file needs to be applied, using the "choose zip from sdcard" option from CWM recovery right? When I choose that option, I encounter the error "E:Can't mount /sdcard/". Also when I'm trying to create a backup, it says "Can't mount backup path.". So it seems that there is a problem with accessing the sdcard. I then tried the "mount /sdcard" option, but it also says "Error mounting /sdcard".
Did you have any problem like that? When my phone is booted up, there is no problem with accessing the sd card... Or is there a option how I can check if the sd card is inserted correctly? I guess it's internal and therefore impossible to even remove it..
Your help would be highly appreciated!
Many thanks in advance and best wishes,
amannn
EDIT: I was now able to upload the update with an external micro sd. Therefore everything works so far - thanks again

Hi sieger007,
It can be a little bit tricky to install the drivers, since it are .inf files only. But these are the driver files

This second way worked just fine for me.
You can find the drivers and tools also here
http://mt65xx-tools.4shared.com/
he password to login is bm-smartphone-reviews.blogspot.com.
But always make sure that you trust the sources of the ROM you download and know that it is meant for your phone. After flashing a wrong preloader, your phone will be completely dead (can't be powered on, it will not charge and won't be detected anymore by the computer) and there is no way to recover it.
In order to root you first need to install a custom recovery. In this case it is CWM.
hope this helps
still stuck in driver hell
thanks for your help . I had a previous Chinese MTK (MT6575 ARM A9 cortex ) phone , whose ADB drivers successfully installed when I installed the SDK .
Now this one is MTK6517 ARM A5 Cortex. and none of the methods ( #1 or #2 ) help, in those drivers being recognized.
By method #1 : Right click install - It maybe just copying the driver file to system folder and then on windows would auto detect it when the device is inserted -assuming there is a match .
Method # 2 : Uses the new h/w found dialogue . Not sure if invoking sp_tool is related anyways in invoking that dialogue . It shows up anyways - soon as you plug in the phone .
I could not get the driver files in with the blogspot password to be recognized . Kept giving me "specified location. does not contain info about your h/w msg"
I have the EXACT same problem with ALL drivers hunted on the net , that say MTK driver. Some files say MTK65xx some say MTK_USB_Driver etc.
the h/w ID's and instance IDs associated with the devices are attached .
USB\VID_1782&Pid_5d04&Rev_0229&MI_01
Now the driver.inf file did have one ray of hope with this mention ..wonder if that'd make it compatible with a modified inf file.
But I am lost about HOW to add the h/w ID info ( format and what specific data to add ) to the inf file -most data is of the form VID_eXXX something in that file ( see below quote )
MT6516 USB VCOM drivers\readme.txt
Code:
3. Customers can customize usb2ser_XXX.inf file.
There is a string in the file:
MTK6218 = "USB Modem Driver"
You can modify it for your product name, for example:
MTK6218 = "MY_PRODUCT Modem Driver"
The other perplexing thing is that there are 3 Devices that show up under XP device manager. I managed to get one of em installed as device "android phone" with driver "android ADB interface" from Google and can possibly manage to get ALL of em installed the same way since those device ID's are close ( the last '1' becomes 2 and 3 respectively ) in this
Code:
USB\VID_1782&Pid_5d04&Rev_0229&MI_01
After pushing all these device ID's as "android ADB interface" - and attempting to root- the android rooting s/w's will NOT work at the identification step , erring out with "ADP device not found "- conclusively indicating that those drivers probably did not work well and I ought to look around for better ones - something I am trying to address by this thread.
Lastly - sp_tool when you start it - it will ask for scatter file. The scatter file out there is for MTK6577 (vs my model 6517 ) . If I choose that file - it gives me a warning - yes it out - and click download - it will then just freeze doing nothing
after some more G-mining ( Google) - i found out that I have to stick my VID in that hardware ID's and create an adb_usb.ini file to get the device recognized. Will update on happened next

after that there will be 2 yellow marks for the rest of the unknowns in device manager. for this you have to modify the .inf file to include the entire h/w ID strings. I guess that makes just about any driver get along with anyone unknown - so here I am not sure if showing them as the such h/w by changing the driver files - gives them the actual intended functionality or all it does it just makes the device manager look clean without yellow marks. Maybe someone could help expand the talk here

So with that - I get 1 ADB interface and 3 devices show up under "com and LPT" - alright that completes the drivers
ROOTING
I found this Chinese rooting program Vroot . I still have'nt figured out what exactly it means but it looks like it DID root that sucker after all. I tested with one app - root checker - got an dialogue in Chinese , asking me whether to give or not and I think I said Y but that app still does not say I have root. Its probably the apps thats at fault because I can get Linked2SD do ALL the stuff it would be doing running as root - .e.g force move programs to SD to free up space etc.
If someone out there can make English out of that and tell me if its mine to keep or leased out ( trial ) - that'd be damn nice !!!

3G not accessible
Hi again,
so I've been struggling with another issue.
Somehow my T8950 isn't capable of connecting to the 3G network of my carrier. When I search for networks, only the 2G networks are being found.
Does anybody have a clue why that is and how to solve that problem? My carrier is from Austria and is called "tele.ring" which is operated by T-Mobile.
I'd really appreciate your help, since 2G is reaaally slow for data connections
EDIT: I just tried allowing my phone only to connect to 3G networks by using the Network app from Philipp Mangelow (which shows the same menu as if you dial *#*#4636#*#* as i just found out). This results into no 3G networks being found at all.. I thought maybe the problem occurs because I'm always connected in roaming mode. As I bought the phone in China, it seems to believe that i need to be in roaming mode to connect to my local carrier. However, I have a local SIM-card, so this is somewhat weird..
EDIT 2: So after some googling I've found out that China has the TD-SCDMA radio interface for 3G (at least China Mobile, and that's from where I've bought the phone), but in europe it's W-CDMA.. Remains the question how to change that (if possible at all)..
EDIT 3: So I've wrote an email to Huawei about the issue, and that's the reply:
Sorry that T8950 doesn’t support the W-CDMA mode.
Below please kindly check the frequence band of T8950 for your reference.
• GSM/EDGE:900/1800/1900MHz
• TD-SCDMA:A frequency(2010-2025MHz)/F frequency(1880-1920MHz)
So that means that there is nothing i can do about it?
Thanks and all the best,
amannn

No, unfortunatly not. this is not a software setting, but a different hardware chip. my t8950 also does not support 3G in Belgium

WEP Cracking with bcmon?

Hi Guys
I wish to learn WEP cracking on android using the following: http://bcmon.blogspot.ca/
I have a SGHT989 running CM 10.1. Please could someone provide a simple tutorial. The monitor mode is working well for me... I can use all functions including running aerodump, wash, besside-ng and bcmon terminal. While running besside -ng, it even said to use aircrack to open a .cap file to see WEP key. I was not able to find this .cap file.
I would really appreciate some guidance.
Regards
Bump.. please help. If I can get this working, I will post a youtube video as to help others who may also be struggling.

location of *.cap file
I also just recently got bcmon running on my device (hisense sero 7 pro). After much searching through the sdcard and internal memory, I have all but concluded that besside-ng simply is not saving a .cap file.
Even though after running it on my old router it claimed it had a handshake and saved the information for the WPA key in WPA.cap.
I'm sure its something simple I'm just overlooking. Does anyone know where the cap file is stored? Or how to get besside-ng to save the cap file? I'd appreciate the help!
For future reference though, I'd like to add that I have not been able to get reaver for android GUI to work. It appears to activate monitor mode but keeps getting stuck when it waits for a beacon from the target device.

android on a TL10IE2 (panasonic/intel and ECS-elitegroup)

howdy ,
i hope i am posting in the right area ... i looked around and didn't see anything specifically related .
i recently acquired one of the intel "educational" tablets that (according to lore) was actually manufactured by a third party while panasonic and intel put their name on it .
intel did provide the uPC ... Z3740D / 1.8 GHz / Quad Core :
this machine also goes under the name of "3E" .
i loaded W10 on it to check it out and installed the drivers .
it works nicely , is fairly quick in response and the display looks very acceptable for a tablet .
it is a dual touch and actually has two speakers on the front corners !
the machine looks like it was never really used ... it just sat on a shelf in some school .
in short , for 65 bucks i got a *new* pad w/cradle-keyboard and power supply .
now , for the why i am here part .
i am not a W10 fan by any stretch of the imagination , so i figured i would try loading linux mint or android on it .
forget linux anything ... it will not load , the uefi and secureboot flag it .
(a couple other guys over at the panasonic forum at notebookreview have tried as well)
what did load was a copy of remix 6.xx (shock shock !) , but it choked and puked at random times .
sooo ... i went and got a copy of 7.1.2rc ... i was able to load it and it does work nicely ... for the most part .
there are three major issues :
microphone does not work
auto-rotate does not function
gps not found
and that is why i am here ... seeking help with these issues .
i have a theory that perhaps one of the true mobile builds might work but i have no idea on where to start .
there has been a lot of those units like i bought dumped on the market recently ...
i think they would make good units for kids to use (and adults as well) .
thanks for your time in advance .
ps ... i just discovered that this is the wrong section , please move to the general Q&A .

Hey Sherimran,
I'm also suffering the same problem as you.
I did a clean install of W10 and that's where all the problems began.
Nothings working except the display(not touch) and the usb ports.
Did you manage to get your hands on the drivers???

You can take the file from any amlogic android 8+, as 8+ uses the new 4.x kernel I have a fair few roms and i cant find that file in any of the 9.0 roms, it may have never been compiled for the newer kernel but it give alot of options for you to look
edit:
I found the file, check it on https://github.com/ewwink/Root-Android-S905X3-plus-Dragonrise-generic-USB-Joystick-driver
---------------------
have you found the file?
I would have a problem with an X96max +, namely what happens (it has any android system on it) when the HDR logo appears on the LG TV at boot, the system slows down (freezes) at the boot screen and "System UI isn't responding for a long time "subtitle for wait or close will be followed by another, then it will be very difficult to load the system, but the Wifi will be turned off. It plays on almost every boot, whether you switch from CE to droid or not. Can anyone help?
reset to factory default or flash with another ROM
