[Q]Unique problem - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

Scenario 1 : I transfer video X and video Y into my phone and only video X is transferred but corrupted. I delete my video X and put in video Y but inside my phone it is still video X.
Scenario 2 : I tried to format my sd card through my phone but I cannot reformat, so I used my com to reformat. My com showed that I have reformat my sd card, meaning nothing inside my sd card, but when i unplug my cable, all my reformatted stuffs came back.
Scenario 3 : I added 127 songs to my phone but only 6 songs found and the process shows i transferred and pass all 127 songs.
Conclusion : Everytime I add or delete something from my com to the sd card through cable, it's either I cannot delete or I cannot add stuffs
P.S : everything is through cable from my com to my phone and I have no problem if I delete things from my phone or use a sd card adapter.

Your usb is ****ed . It can also be an error with your sdcard , run chkdsk -r on your sdcard
Cannot withstand stuff if using just a MSM7227 with Adreno 200 using XDA App

Attach it to Windows using the SDCard adapter and run chkdsk there .

Is this a non-stock SD card such as one bought on eBay or so? Run H2testw to make sure it's not a counterfeit - one which reports higher storage than is actually available, thus causing corruption.
You should run this through a USB card reader and not your phone. Also running checkdisk with the disk in a phone as mounting isn't advised. Unmount, or turn off and eject and plug into a card reader.

Help me ! I can't copy file from PC to Samsung T959 !

I'm using the Samsung Galaxy S T959 2.1 of TMobile
I have installed on my computer samsung drivers for mobile and Kies.
My computer is using Win 7 32-bit
Everyday, I plug the cable into my PC and choose Mount, after that I copy data from PC to Samsung normally
Today, when the cable attached to the PC, then select Mount, also appears that 2 drives H & I but I can't copy data to SamSung. When I copied, the PC alert :
Copying
Discovering items.....
Time remain : Calculating
Data Transfer : Calculating
How then is run from morning to noon without the copy is complete, although I only have a 1MB image file. Reset your computer and the SS, but still the same error.
So my computer is corrupted or SS that you failed? I try to connect your computer with the N95, the copy machine is normal.
please help me how to I can copy data normally ?
i had a problem copying files to my vibrant, I formated my internal 16gb memory and it fixed the problem.
i think its
settings>sd phone storage>format.
I would uninstall kies. I never use it. After you do that plug in the phone and you should then use the top pull down menu and it will have a connect usb icon and button. hit that it will then say connected and it will open 2 folders F and G or something like that one is the internal sd and the other is the external And do what the posting said format the external sd card if it is new or you have not yet. you can do it on the computer it would be fat-32 ONLY
If you have wifi you can use the app Wifi File Explorer. Costs about $1 for the Pro version. I use it all the time for transferring files. Very easy and works great. You access your phones storage using your PC web browser. No cables, no problems.

Thanks! I just tried that App. It works great. It doesn't seem to see my MicroSD card though, only the internal memory shows up (on my Vibrant).......unless I am missing something.

Shows up on mine. Look for the sd folder. If you see "Up To Parent Directory" at the top of the directory list click on it because you're not at the root directory level. From root you should see sd/.

[Q] Strange SD card problem

Hi
I had some really strange issues with my SD card files and I was wondering if anyone could help.
Let's start with the start .
I'm running a GB ROM (OneDroid GB06) with Franco's kernel from 02 oct. Using a 16Gb class 6 SD card from A-Data. Partitions made with CWR version 3.1 (I think).
Anyway the problem is like this. I am using my phone as a voice recorder with AndRecorder Free from the Market. Usually record 10-15 minutes (up to 15MB) interviews and sometimes I record like 10 of them without downloading them to the PC. The problem I had was that after I recorded a few of them, when I connect the phone to PC with data cable, I can't see the recorded files in Explorer.
At first I had an issue when connecting the phone in USB storage mode it told me that I had some errors that had to be fixed. I could not see the files I needed in explorer and after dissconnecting from PC the files were gone from OI File Manager as well. I was however able to find them in the LOST.DIR.
I took the card out, put it in a card reader, backed up my files and did a full format and put all my files back. No more "need to fix" messages when connecting to PC, however I still cannot see the files that I record in Windows Explorer while connected in USB storage mode. In Oi File Manager I can see them, play them and even send to Dropbox via WiFi. Or if I take the card out and put it in a reader I am able to see them in Explorer as well.
Anyone has any idea about this? Kernel or ROM issue?
I used the same program (AndRecorder) before on 2.2 and I'm using it on another O1 running official 2.2.2 and never had a problem like this.

Few times the same problem happens to me I am using a sandisk 4gb SDHC card and i clicked some photos from the camera and those photos were visible in the gallery but when i connected to usb storage on computer, photos were not visible... I'm also using FRANCO.KERNEL for gingerbread 2oct but with stock ROM..
First - install Root Toolbox or Dual SD mount widget and try double-mounting the card when connected. If it fails try copying the parent folder to PC or try to list via typing (Should be on the sdcard directory you store the files) dir /a:h or dir /a:s in cmd (Should be your last hope, though).
Otherwise, try setting up a FTP Server and make sure the card is using a FAT32 file system.
Ianis, thanks for the solution, but I just want a way to make it work as it should, not to try and go back in DOS mode just to copy some freaking files.
Did you try:

Try fix permissions in CWM. If that is not helping, use Root Explorer an check file or folder permissions. Also try to swich between R/O and R/W modes.

a couple of strange thing regarding my MicroSD card

Hi, I usually dont write, but I read a lot here.
about 2 weeks ago i bought my S3, and everything was great. about 2 days ago I bought a 32GB MicroSD card (Sandisk Ultra Mobile CL10)
and put it into the phone, when I try to connect it to the computer via the USB cable, the transfer rate is extremely slow!!!
It usually just freeze about the middle and just pop-out a message that "The File could not be copied", and its the same to every file I try (regardless the type/size etc).
the strange thing is that it does the same to the internal memory!
if I take out the the MicroSD and put it into a card-reader and into a the computer it works great and transfer rate is about 20Mb/s!
is there anything I can/should do?
I know that on my old Motorola I could plug it into the computer and the SD card was shown as a "Removable Disk" and I could just copy and paste, and the S3 is either shown by a Camera or a media device... is there a way to make it as a Removable Disk?
I'm with a stock rom is that's matter.
hope I could get your help.
Thanks.

Sound like a problem i had when i got my 32gb card. for me it turned out that i had to change the usb port as the one i was using decided to be a usb1.0 port, changed port, installed drivers for a different port and it fixed my issue, dunno if it will work for you but worth a try.
also try formatting your card.

I just tried on another computer, the problem didn't occur but the transfer rate is still VERY slow...
I format the card within the phone and when I looked on the properties of the MicroSD card, under File System is written "generic hierarchical" - is that normal? is there anyway i could format it to NTFS or even FAT32? the phone will still recogsize it if i do?

ps. does exist an application that cancel all unused application files in the sdcard? thanks again.
1 and 3 sound like a bad sd card or card reader in the phone. The rest sound like an OS bug, which a factory reset should hopefully clear up.

What do you mean "cancel?"

Well, normally when you connect the USB cable and choose to connect the USB storage then the SD card becomes unavailable to the phone but the computer can then access it. Both the computer and the phone cannot access the SD card at the same time... I will spare you the technical reasons but you should know that this is normal. After you are done copying files with the computer then you must turn off this USB storage mode so the phone can access the SD card again and then it will see all your music and pictures again (all these are stored on your card by default).
This should all be fixed OK by a reboot of the phone though in any case. Are you sure you rebooted the phone completely? maybe you should try to remove the battery once?
If you've done all that then you can try to repair the SD card by taking it out of the phone and using micro sd to SDHC adapter and inserting it directly into a computer then using windows to run a chkdsk on it.
hi,
i've done all you said properly, you know the problem came out because there was a differente behavior than in the past.
i remove securely the phone from pc and then is not accessible,
i didn't tried to chdsk the sdcard i'll try, but it sounded strange to me because its brand new.
i also tried to contact htc , they said " try to reboot, or try to remove the battery and the sd and start the phone again, the problem wasnt gone.
thanks for the advice.

Well if it's just gotten corrupted then you can just reformat the sd card. You'll want to backup all your data first so if you can't do that from the USB connection to the PC then you'll need to insert it directly into a pc. Once you've formatted it you can put your backed up data back on the card and put it back in the phone and after a while it will find your mp3s again. If it's truly a bad sd card then the reformat won't help.
Do you have another sdcard? The one that came with the phone or any other? Try putting some mp3s and photos on it and then put that in your phone. If your phone recognizes the photos and mp3s then maybe your current sdcard is the problem. And can you tell the the format of your sdcard? Is it NTFS or exFAT or FAT32? If it is UHS-1 card there is a good chance that it is in exFAT. To make it work on Evo 3d, convert it to FAT32 .

[Q] How can I stop the mysterious SD card removal affecting my phone?

My Note II, running the latest CM 10.2 nightly, has had a ghost--or Electro--remove the SD card making SD card dependent programs stop working.
I have a 64gb SanDisk card that has been working like a champ since I bought the phone.
Earlier this week, I kept getting errors that my SD card was not available. These errors would come out of the blue, sometimes even when the phone was in its dock. This made Spotify and Camera apps useless.
However, the phone still recognizes that the card is still plugged in.
At no point in time had I touched the actual card physically.
The only way to fix it, is to either pop the batter door, pop out the SD card out and back in, and then force close the apps that depend on it.
Or, reboot the phone.
How do I go about fixing this?
Your card might have become mounted "read only" ....you can fix it in a computer. Do a google search for "sd card mounted read only". It has happened to me before. It happens sometimes when one or more files on the card become corrupted....the fix will not erase your card.

I had feeling that it would be something related to the writability of the card.
Seems that this is a common problem, but none of the solution threads showed up in my searches.
From here, we have the following:
Fix the FAT
- connect device to your PC (USB connection) and make sure it’s set so that you can copy files to/from your computer (on my device in the notification panel there’s an option to do this under “USB connected”)
- on your pc, open windows explorer (or click on start->computer), then right click on the mapped drive to your sd card – you may have to wait a minute or two for the mapping to take effect
- select Properties
- select Tools
- select Check now… (for error checking) to automatically fix file system errors (no need to deal with bad sectors at this time)
- when completed (takes a minute or so), the FAT will be in working order once again. No files are deleted during the process, so no need to worry about that.
- safely disconnect the device from your pc, at which point the sd card will now be mounted read-write and you’re good to go

Once I get home I'll try this out.
I just put it in a SD Adapter and plug it into the computer. Use the same process listed. Worked for me.

I executed a check disk on my sd card and put it back in my phone. The same problem persists. This is rather annoying.
Mine was close to capacity a while ago and exhibited all signs of being toast.
I removed about 20 gigs of music from it, and it came back to life.
Good luck.
Hmm, I'll give it a try. The SD card is pretty full with all the TWRP and Titanium backups ...
I tried everything under google's radar, and I cannot get this to work. The car simply does not like to be written on, cannot be formatted, an check disk does nothing.

I looked up my order on Amazon, and then at the product reviews for the card. I stumbled upon this thread: http://www.amazon.com/review/RUM36X...IN=B009QZH6JS&nodeID=172282&store=electronics
Seems like it is time to call Sandisk and get this card RMAed
I have fixed this by transferring my card to pc, running a full format via cardreader. and putting my files back. I believe a full format will mark bad sectors. It will take a while though.
If you are having trouble formatting in windows try using a software called gui format.

Here is what happens in windows:
Through CMD
Code:
C:\>format /fs:FAT32 Q:
Insert new disk for drive Q:
and press ENTER when ready...
Code:
C:\Users\Z>format /fs:exfat /x /q Q:
Insert new disk for drive Q:
and press ENTER when ready...
The type of the file system is FAT32.
The new file system is EXFAT.
QuickFormatting 60890M
Volume label (15 characters, ENTER for none)?
Invalid media or Track 0 bad - disk unusable.
Through Disk Manager
Code:
---------------------------Virtual Disk Manager---------------------------
The format did not complete successfully.
---------------------------OK ---------------------------
There is something definitely wrong with the card
