Hey,
I'm currently trying to find a nice low-end phone for my gf (myself I'm a Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 owner). The 2 phones left in the race are the Galaxy Ace and HTC Wildfire S.
Price is pretty much the same, looks don't matter too much so it's all about hardware. My main concern with Ace is that it's memory (RAM) is quite small. Even with the Galaxy S' 512MB I'm often thinking it could use more memory, so I assume it'd be even worse for the Ace?
I'd really appreciate if Ace owners could provide some feedback on how they see the memory situation. Are you often running out of memory, is the phone lagging a lot, ..? Does the 800Mhz cpu (vs 600Mhz in W) give a better overall experience despite the smaller 287MB (vs 512mb in W) memory?
Maybe someone even has experience with both Ace and Wildfire S?
Any reports appreciated!
I always have between 150-115mb free memory with Lookout, ZDbox, a firewall and some other crap running at the background.
Even if I use skype and some other things at the same times, I have never had any problems. But you have to use a good task killer anyway.
And if you want my opinion, Wildfire has a smaller screen than Ace and the Ace should support Flashplayer soon.
i too stuck btw SGA and htc wildfire S b4....i dont think internal memory is a big issue,of course of the beginning,i struggle with it,but once i gain knowledge from this forum,i always have 90-110 free internal memory,n all it takes is just sd card....with newest firmware, the phone vy vy smooth...i even compare my phone with my friend 1ghz x10,he too suprised by ace...RAM wise,i dont exprience any short coming, and i dont think girl user are more extreme,so i think its ok....screen wise,i would bet on SGA 16m colour than WS 256k(if u compare these two,it do make alot of different)...hehe,y dont u ask ur gf which design she wud prefer
it is problem only if you install needlessly too many apps. otherwise it is not a big issue. ace installs most apps on memory card by default and actually uses very little main memory. also you can root and remove some default apps that your gf don't use so you gain additional free memory or use VillainROM that is already nice and clean (~130MB free memory).
Hey guys
My previous phone was the galaxy ace which had like less than 200mb of ram and the S3 has 1GB
The thing is that I had installed the same apps of the ace which I now use on the S3 and the S3 ram is full... 30-40mb free.
It used to be the same thing with the ace but it is understandable as it has less ram but how is this in the S3 with so much memory?
I have around 100 apps installed... Even in the ace I had that many with partitioning the sd card
I'm on PACman rom so the inbuilt Samsung apps are absent.
How so much memory drain?
Thank you for your reply

Mostly apps remain in memory for a fast launch, don't worry about it too much
If u still want to get some more ram.
Install Advanced Task Manager.
It is best I have found.
Get it on play store
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
As you can see I have no ram left.
Everything becomes very laggy
What should I do?
Hellppppppp

Hello people.
Nowadays the major problem with smart phones, especially Samsung galaxy ones, is the lack of battery backup. However, it is possible to have more juice when needed for root users by undervolting.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1743055
This is a handy package I found. It was originally made for HTC sensation but it works for many other rooted phones.
Can anyone please make a kernel with undervolt support for this device?
Sent from my gt s7562, rooted, 1.3ghz oc silvernexus kernel, pmp razer rom.
How to save battery on alpha please share useful apps that helps to get extra juice
I I turned off samsung Bloatware.
Why Does Samsung Galaxy S6 Use So Much More RAM then Samsung Galaxy S5?
On a Fresh Boot with no apps running it almost uses all 3 GBS of Ram - 2.6GB of Ram to be exact. My Samsung Galaxy S5 uses 1.20GB out of 2GB Of Ram on fresh boot. Both running stock ROM.
Is there any way to lower the usage on a Stock Rom? Without rooting?

Look up a few things on how Android handles RAM, and you'll understand why this doesn't matter.
Regardless of how much ram it's using, the touchwiz smoothness improvement over S5....I wouldn't care if it's using the whole 3GB! (of course, only if the ram is being used for the smooothness)

well i am not an expert but like what was mentioned above i dont care what it uses as long as it runs properly. i relate it to a Mac MIni i have that had 4 GB ram and ran average 2.7 GB of that Ram until i added 4 more for a total of 8GB and suddenly same system ran with average 4.3 GB ram. i guess its cause it had it to use and would relate similar findings going from 2GB to 3GB on phone.
I been finding due to the high usage of ram, tw launcher keep relaunching after I unlock my phone.

You're using a carrier version lmfao as my S5 is buttery smooth. In fact using both my S6 Edge and S5 both are smooth.

I bought a S6 edge running 5.0.2 while my S5 a G900F is running Kitkat. These are just collectibles.
