i got my evo 3d on monday and love it .. a strange issue arises however when the battery gets to 100% the phone shows green on the led .... when i use the phone plugged in the battery goes down but light stays green ... and it doesnt seem to charge ... is this a safety feature ?? ive not seen how far it will go before it starts charging again .. but even at 97% the lcd remains green .. is this a glitch or something htc have done on purpose to stop the battery overcharging ???
Search the forum, there are a few threads posted on this. It's a feature to condition the battery. It will never reach 100%. The it will goto 99 then stop charging, then when it gets down to 95 it starts charging again. Hope this clears things up.

Hey...
My Mozart seems to have stopped working. The battery run out this morning when I was in university and ive just got home and plugged it in to find that the red led is flashing up the top! Its flashes for a while and HTC comes onto the screen, it then shows an image of a battery on the screen then nothing, no lights, no charging, no booting.
Help!
i see well that happened to me, you seem to have drained the battery. the best solution is..
keep it charged for a while..
if it does not work.. remove the battery for a while then bring it back and charge again,
just let it charge until the battery regains enough power to boot the phone.
never let the battery fully down /!\
the smartphone Have to be charged before the battery nearly 30% otherwise u Will deteriorate the lifetime of u'r battery
Hi, I would like to know if the problem was the battery or hardware related? I am having this same problem and Im about to go to the phone shop to get this looked at... after being on the phone to someone who speaks the worst broken english for 20 minutes!
Thanks.
HI! I have a problem with my EVO 3D GSM (well maybe its not a problem )
Lets see, when i am charging the E3D GSM all goes correctly till it gets to 100% when the green light get on, then the phone doesnt charge more, but the green light still on.. why? I have to say that this happenes whit it still connected and charging, but doesnt continue charging... why¿
It has Overcharge Protection built in.
and that means??? what we have to do for take it off? and any problem if we take it off?? sorry but first time i heard about it...
It's an overcharge protection chip built into the battery to keep it from being damaged.
from another thread...eternity rom

Does it ever just get to a 100% without having to do that? Or am I doing something wrong I used superwipe and then flashed it with no modification stock kernel and everything.

its normal. from what i understand its a kernel thing. not trickle charging but lets its go down to some percentage then charges back up again . read what ms79723 has to say about it
Sometimes when i plug my other evo 3d in to charge it the light flashs red green red green when its pluged in ti charge?? And where it shows how much battery is left there is an exclamtion piont threw the battery?? It go's away and comes back.. Has anybody ever heard of this happening?? I try to flash diff roms and nothing seems to make it stop?? ITS HAPPENING TO THE EVO 3D THAT IM SELLING SO I NEED TO FIX SO I CAN SELL IT.. I DONT WANT TO SELL IT LIKE THIS..
Its a faulty battery...try wedging something between the bottom of the battery to make sure the problem is not cuz the battery's loose. I had the same problem when I first got the phone. Wut I did wuz replace the battery n that did it for me. So your problem is the battery not the phone.

The issue you're having is very similar to what happened to my laptop. I would plug my laptop in and it would give me the charge icon for a split second, then it would disappear. If i moused over the battery, it said "x% (not charging)"
The battery still worked to power my laptop without any issue (until I drained it completely) but it wouldn't charge, whether it was on or off, and I even installed Ubuntu as a dual boot just to see if it was an OS issue (which I knew it wasn't in the back of my mind, but I didn't want to believe it). Sounds like you need a new battery.
ok, here is an odd problem... will try to explain it as good as I can... with my poor english.
got a GSM model here. after rooting the phone, I updated once for HTC clock wiglet then all the sudden the phone won't boot. it stuck at the HTC logo with the white screen, and then after a short moment, it vibrates then reboot again. and it keeps doing this again and again. guess thats normal among androids? but I just don't know how to fix it. as I checked the recovery screen. it got s-on again. not sure if that is the cause of the problem, but again, I dont really know hot to fix it.
so I was thinking flashing the phone again? but another funny thing happened. the phone doesnt seem to be charging. the orange/red on the top right is staying on for a couple of seconds then off for a couple of seconds then on... so on and so forth.
I am afraid it was the USB port that caused the crash of the system so I think I better ask here first before I do anything.
Anyone has experienced anything like this? or has any idea whats going on?
thanks in advanced!!
forgot to mention. the orange/red indication light is going on and off with and without charging
Anyone?

Sounds to me that your battery is empty. The reason it turns off after you turn it on is because it turns on, sees the battery level low and shuts off to prevent the battery from getting damaged.
The blinking light is common when charging a dead battery. Let it charge for at least 30 minutes and see if the charge light turns solid.

I left it charge over night n it's still playing up. But anyway, I have send it back for warranty. Thx all the same!

I am on android 4.4.4 liquid smooth 3.2 ... I have the international model...
The problem is that when I connect the phone to the charger when the phone is off... It shows the battery with a loading circle in the center and the screen jist goes off... Why is this happening... Earlier it would normally show the battery animations and charge normally but now it just turns off.. The phone charges normally when its switched on .. But when it's off the battery pops up for a second after connecting to the charger. And the screen goes off..
Is this a rom related bug or is something related to hardware here.. .. Any help will be appreciated.
Know issue that's fixed now. Update kernel or nightly.

Charge it while it is on. There is no benefit in charging it while its off.

For some reason heaps of people on XDA are obsessed with charging their phones while they are off. You will never find a reasonable explanation for them doing it, especially given how efficient deep sleep mode is.

It's not that I want to charge it while it's switched off... something is malfunctioning and that's why it ain't charging when switched off... earlier it used to .. now it doesn't . and if something is not right.. why not fix it.. find the cause and nail it down. so here I am.. trying to figure out what's not right with the device..
This is a ROM wide problem with kernel. People know about this issue already. Report to cm lol
