Hi,
If I have a mobile device (bare or with some other OS ) and a built android source, is it possible to install the Android OS on that device?
Any pointers?
Thanks,
Aseem Chiplonkar
Difficult question. You could try but remember you need to build drivers.
I take it you want to go for an AOSP build?

There's an Android for x86 project out.
http://www.android-x86.org/
however, short of using something like cyanogenmod, there's no quick way to say how to install the android source on a mobile ARM based device easily.

Here is SDK http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
But you are going to have to know how to run linux code. Try the library for that.

Yes, I couldn't agree more with what fundooz is saying here.. Which brings us to the main question: which ROM are you on now? Cyanogen?

You won't get it unless:
You use stock v20a,b,c etc
or
Wait for other people to successfully port it to other LG phones(so we have some idea how to).
this question have been answered more than a million times, and the answer was always "No"

It canĀ“t because the libs for camera used in custom roms as cyanogen are completely different than the libs usead in stock or based stock roms

i can tell yur not a developer, u can build from source provided by google or CyanogenMod etc... They all have guides how to build depending on ur device. the process requires a computer on a Linux system such as Ubuntu or others. The requirements are posted around google.

Gfive luminous e660 running on mt6575 gingerbread.i successfuly installed cwm recovery 5.5 on it.
well it may be possible, building from source that is. but i myself cant help, dont have a computer in hand, do u know if they have released kernel source? if so that can help with custom kernels, maybe leading to ics, even jellybean if its possible. But kernel source is highly preferred, since it can help the building process. also since this phone isnt a knows device here were i am at i cant help or troubleshoot.
