[Q] Best Radio for Battery Life - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I am Bell Atrix user.
Since i have jumped from froyo to GB i am facing bad battery life, no matter what i do it drops like stone e.g 50% in 11 Hrs of sleeping
Recently I Flashed CM7 Beta and i am loving it, again only problem i can think of is with radio (for battery life)
So any suggestions about which radio should i flash for best battery life.
Note: I dont use EDGE, 3G, HSPA+ at all
and i am currently on N_01.77.33P
Any Thoughts ???
Dont kill me for asking this question again
P.S: is it ok for me to flash ATnT Radio on my CM7 ???

Did you calibrate your battery ?
Follow this guide for better battery performance: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1198333

on CM7 no but on Gb (almost all or ROMs i tried) yes, no use
BTW do i have to do battery thingi every time i flash a ROM ?
i flashed froyo and it is good without any battery calibration stuff

i have installed villian 3.1 and since then my battery has only lasted a 1/4 of what it should do and i was wondering if there is any software or any tweaking codes i could use that will help extend my battery life????
Hi,
I'd follow this guide and install the overclocker widget. It bascially slows your cpu right down whilst your phone is on sleep. Made a BuGE difference to my phone.

The reason for the battery life is a bug in DMAgent. There's a fix available that's designed for VillainROM 3.2, so if you upgrade to that and then appy the fix listed in this wiki page: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=VillainRom3.2Fixes that'll solve your problem

try Defiance rom as it has battery fix included. few of us are testing to see how long battery does last and if its actually this dmagent thing causing the drain issues. so far so good after 7 hrs

[Q] Different Radios and Battery life

Hi,
i am confused does Radio have significant impact on battery life ?
When i am froyo Bell 2.2.2 Radio(N_01.77.15P) and battery life is just amazing
ok now when i flash GB ROMs (any for that matter) battery life decreases like 60% drop in over all life.
can any one tell me which Radio is best for Gb ROMs in terms of battery life.
Tried Radios:
N_01.77.30s.
N_01.100.00R
No impact either
and i also tried different kernels (stock French kernel and 1.1 OC UV)
not much of difference.
can any one shed some light on the subject matter ?
Well from my personal experience, you're always going to get bettery battery life from non-overclockable kernels and stock radio's, simply because they aren't modified in any way. If I were you I would either download and flash the stock radio / kernel for your phone and use that or mess around with different combos till you finally find one that provides a good experience. HOWEVER, keep in mind that if you aren't erasing the previous kernel before you're trying this stuff it may bleed through and will not maybe show you the true potential of the kernel you're flashing. Use fastboot to "fastboot erase boot" to erase the previous kernel before you flash a new one.
edit;spelling
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
Iphone > galaxy s 2.
GB+Radio+Kernel=Broken
Iphone suck
My .15 radio has worked great froyo and gb. My modded gb stock is fine. I just flashed a kerned and uv'ed and have seen improvement.
Iphone > galaxy s 2.
This question will become more of a factor when CM7 officially arrives.
When CM7 arrived on the SGS, a whole bunch of new modems popped out of nowhere...

[Q] cROM with the best battery life

I've looked through the custom roms listed and theres not a whole lot of information given. I'm currently using Wolf_Xperia_4.0.0 and the battery life is kinda horrid.
I prefer Froyo or Gingerbread and want use of my camera. Can anybody help me out with a name or a link?
see if u want gud battery life then go for this Rom with stock kernel ...the battery life is pretty gud as i have experienced !!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1259028
check if it works out for u ..the camera is same as the Stock one only
Thank me if i helped u
I've had good battery life with WB 4.0.4c and so far doing okay with WB 5.0.0, but honestly since everyone's usage is different it's probably better to experiment with different roms rather than have someone tell you which one is best.
I had pretty decent battery life on WB 4.0.4c until I unlocked my boot loader. I used to get two or three days out of it, but this reduced to just six hours. I'm on WB 5.0.0 now and have re-locked my boot loader. Battery life is good. There are most deffinitely issues related to having your boot loader unlocked so if you have unlocked it then I would seriously consider locking it again if you value your battery life.
Thanks guys, going to look into the one linked. What is the WB one you mentioned?
My aunt is a waitress at a busy restaraunt... she gets up and works 8 busy hours (so not on her phone every 5 seconds, maybe checks texts twice a day?) and she gets home below 50% each day. That's pretty horrible.
WB is Wolfbreak's rom. To follow up to my previous post the issue effecting me was the fact that with an unlocked bootloader my phone was not going into deepsleep which was a known issue. This was fixed in DooMLoRD's DooMKernel v05. I have now unlocked my bootloader again and using that kernel along with WB v5. Battery life is good again. I've lost 12% in the past 16 hours. You may also wish to consider calibrating your battery which basically involves charging it to 100%, resetting your battery stats and charging again from 88% and repeating that process a few times. There is a thread about it somewhere. Sorry can't post links right now as I don't have enough posts. Hope this info helps the OP or anyone else with battery issues.
Wolfbreak's rom can be found in the XPERIA X10 Android Development forum. It's a popular thread, can't miss it.
Also to add on, if battery life is a concern, have you tried adjusting the settings? Perhaps turning down the brightness, changing wifi sleep policy, turning off syncing, etc. I would also definitely look into undervolting.

[Q] Atrix Daily Battery Calibration + Radio?, DORAN Redpill V4

Hey everyone,
I am currently using Dorans Redpill V4 for my Atrix 4g
I had problems with my atrix battery with the constant drain and everything and I used the ultimate battery fix guide and it works! However the problem is that I have to repeat the process after EVERY charge because when i recharge it after a calibration it would never go to 100% and would be somewhere around 90-92% and I would have to recalibrate again.
I was wondering if there is a fix to that so I would not have to recalibrate and pull my battery every single day or its normal to have to recalibrate every time?
I also came across a thread that mentioned something about ATT Radio, that an updated Radio can help with battery issues. If I just flashed a Dorans Redpill V4 (Released very recently) does that mean I have the most updated radio?
PS: My battery issue was the same with using a Dorans Hybrid version rom and I do not think the problem is my battery because I used 2 backup batteries with the same results.
Thank YOU!!

[Q] Battery Problem with new battery also

i m having battery prob it continuously drain whether we use it or not...
so i changed the battery but still same prob...
is this H/W issue or what?
I also have The same battery low problem...... its so frustrating....
Check your rom and kernal as life of battery greatly depends on good combination of both of them.
If possible try flashing your phone with stock ics or gb rom ftf and then any of the custom rom or kernal which you are using.
This would solve your problem i hope because if there is any problem with rom then it will be solved automatically
Also note that the stock GB rom with baseband 62 is best for battery and reception.
i have the exact same problem. My phone drains the battery way too fast 6% per hour or so while standby.
It seems to be a hardware problem of xperia neo v. The phone will also drain its battery even while the phone is shutted down. It doesnt matter which kernel you use or rom.
The only reccomendation i can give you is to stay with stock (gingerbread prefered). That is because stock drains battery slower than custom roms.
For gb i reccomend gin2kitkat and for ics anything you like as long as it uses sony firmware. As for kernels there is not much of a difference.
