I tried flashing the unofficial LG Ginegerbread update, and since then I can't disable the airplane mode. I get no cell reception. I even restored from a backup to mik's cyanogen mod, no luck there either. Then finaly used a KDZ update to restore to stock LG Rom, and even there I get no cell reception. What can I do?
I think you flashed wrong radio (not fmradio the baseband). Flash unofficial gingerbread made by Andy its there somewhere in the post maybe. Or clean flash a rom with formatting /system.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA Premium App
Nope. Formatted using clokworkmod recovery and installed mik's gingerbread. But it still doesn't work.
EDIT: Just noticed that in about phone it says that the baseband version is unknown. Is that normal? If not how to flash new baseband?

Flashed a kdz v10H . But even on stock rom i get no gsm connection. On the stock rom even the bluetooth doesn't work.
EDIT: Just noticed that the phone doesn't recognise my sim card. Tried it on another phone and the card worked.
Managed to fix it. I used the program that I used to flash the leaked 2.3.3 rom. And restored the nv2 file. Note to self: Read first, ask questions later. I found this solution in the main thread for this rom.

Hi there! I have the same problem just that I can't nv restore the phone because I didn't back it up. Do you still have the nv backup file so you can attach it here? so I can fix my damn phone.. Thanks!
hello,
i am facing same issue as people above... and i am afraid i dont have any NV2 file for restore... could you please tell me what to do now
GUYS,
i am really now strugelling with this hell machine....
i am lost like in hell.... still without gsm signal, i have tried so many combinations but nothing... maybe i did it even worse because if my experiments...
so currently, my status is that i have flashed 2.3.3 russian leaked version.... i played a bit with IMEI RESTORE_1.2b app, tried to restore my IMEI... but accidentaly, now my IMEI in LGMDP says 35404304088138-2-353, where (-2-353) was not there previously... so i am thinking what i did wrong... i also cannot restore any NV files, it says NV backup file does not exists...
completely lost in this maze...
Is there anybody who could help me to go out of it PLEASE?
Step by step... ?
from really cleaning of my mobile, deleting everything ,installing rom + fixing gsm fix...
i know there is a lot of tutorials, but as i wrote, i probably did it worse than it was in the beginning so i would appreciate deep and exact steps for dumbass like me
I am ashamed, but still hope for getting it to work back again...

i tried to create NV2 file with IMEI same as my phone... and flashed it over LGMDP as flash image - NV file, but no success.... also i cannot restore any NV files, it says NV files does not exists
---------- Post added at 02:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:30 PM ----------
i think i do something bad and the NV2 do not go into the phone.... it says all good, NV restore complete etc, it shut down the phone, but still no gsm
i triedto create new NV2 file over KS20 tool, with "11111" in the IMEI number , and flash it via steps i described, but when i look into the phone there is still the old one... so definitely i am not doing it correctly

I dont think you can select nv2 file directly from lgmdp.
put the file in this order n try
create new folder
rename folder: <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>
create new folder in <your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)> named <port no.> on which your phone is connected (ex:for com4 name folder as " _COM_4_" (without quotes)
now place nv2 file in this folder <port no.>
so now u r nv2 file is in
" \<your_imei_(on_which_nv2_is_created)>\<port no.>\ "
then try to flash file from lgmdp .
I m not sure whether its gonna work or not but if u r interested give it a try bcoz i found my backed nv2 file stored in this pattern,
---------- Post added at 01:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:51 PM ----------
by the way which rom are you using and which baseband version are you flashing right now, can u specify
are you using correct combination ?
i am not flashing any baseband, right now, i selected gingerbread 2.3.3 leaked russian, i selected delete EFS ALL at the bottom, also marked default NV file when selecting this firware... now flashing is in process
edit:.....
so, sucesfully flashed, in LGMDP now i have again my IMEI back as ( original IMEI number 35404304088138 which is good i think) .... i can also click on NV restore it shows some NV files from the morning etc....
but the major think- no GSM still.... so... what to do now, i am ready for commands

This flashing stock, did you do it through CWM or ODIN? If you have not tried ODIN yet I would go that route, could just be you need a stock modem.

i am such a tard.. i havent backed up the efs... i did so now after the mess ... i believe there must be someone with tips and a small hope, btw restoring efs make no difference at all, as dont have correct files.
The EFS is fine if you have IMEI, if you have only flashed each ROM once through ODIN you have hope. Try an ODIN flash again. Can you get to recovery to do full wipe first?
Try EFS Pro Here and download to your PC then run it. You will probably need to use your own wireless to get Busybox (free on Play Store) and run it on your phone - if the phone will not go to wireless, DL the files to your PC then copy BB over to the phone in Windows Explorer and run it on the phone.
Then run EFS Pro on your PC (with phone connected by USB, but it will prompt you) and there are a couple of options there to try to see if you can recover things. (NV Recovery and Repair NV Data) - I think the NV Recovery uses info on the phone (.bak file) while repair tries to rebuild the info.
Good luck. Maybe read through the thread first or contact the thread OP if you have questions about EFS Pro processes...

I don't think this will help with the Serial issue, but maybe for the service all you need is the APN/Service info from Vodaphone? Go to [Settings] [More Settings] [Mobile Networks] and check both Access Point Names and Network Operators.
I flashed a ROM and found I had problems so I went to a Telstra page, entered my phone number and it sent me a text with a security code - when I entered that it sent me an install that connected all my services again. Maybe Voda has similar? Or even just a page with APN info?

Beyond what I know so far, sorry. If it was me I'd be making sure I have back-ups of everything I can think of (Data, System, Nandroid, EFS) then I would start from clean phone - wipe everything in recovery, factory reset etc. then load as close as possible to the original Stock for the phone. If that doesn't do it, with official stock and counters etc. I'd go to vendor and ask what gives. I'd start with the service provider and if they can't help, phone vendor, then failing that, Samsung.
Maybe some of the more experienced here can assist otherwise...

Hey, guys!
This is my first post in this forum.
My situation is the following: a friend of mine came to me because her SIII GT-I9300 was stuck in the SAMSUNG screen. After a little research on the internet, I did a wipe data, which did not work. Then I researched a bit more and flashed Android 4.3 using Odin. Android was running OK, but I got "not registered on network".
My question is: in order to fix this problem, should I worry about the IMEI? (when I did the wipe data i didn't do any backup...:silly.
Any help is welcome. Please have in my mind that I'm a noob...

Yes root it then install cwm recovery then download zip file and put it onto your internal sdcard
Then reboot in CWM and use "install from zip".
Well, guys...
I did what you said... didn't succeed. I installed those patches, but it still says "not registered on network".
I wonder if it is an IMEI / EFS folder issue... As I mentioned on the initial post, I don't have a backup EFS folder.
Should I try to flash the stock ROM (I mean, the factory native ROM) so as to try to recover the IMEI?
If so, I don't know what was the original firmware because I got this mobile from a friend.
Any ideas on how to figure it out?
Thanks in advance.

I'm really thankful for the tips... but is there any tutorial on how to flash MG4 modem?
I've had a quick look on the net, but I couldn't find any 'step-by-step'...
I mean, do I have to save those 2 files (modem MG4 + kernel) in the SD card and flash using CWM?
Where can I download it?
Thank you all.

I would go back to an older version of standard rom. See if that restores imei efs back to version 1. Sammy mobile unbranded uk is version 2 so use an older version than that. I have gone back to this from version 4.3 stock. If phone boot loops after flashing do full factory reset. Then check imei. If still not ok. Install kies and it will upgrade to 4.3 and imei will be back.

Koj,
Could you please post the link for the older version of standard rom? After flashing it, how can I check the IMEI EFS version? I just want to be sure I'm strictly following your tips.
Just to remind you, I got this S3 from a friend who had bought it in USA, and now I'm trying to use it in Brazil.
Thanks in advance. Greetings from Brazil!!
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9300&pcode=ZTO These are a list of Brazilian roms choose the september 4.12 version. You will need to register before you can download. To check imei go to about device then status or from phone keypad enter *#06#
After having S3 for some months, I decided to update it to 4.3.
So I searched online and saw some tutorials how to root and install costum ROMs.
I read few tutorials to be sure how to do that and after all went good and the ROM installed, One problem has rised: NO SIGNAL!
so I wiped all and installed a ROM STOCK.
After that the signal came back "half way". It's showing signal bars but I can't call to anyone, even after calling to my provider...
I just don't know what to do. Please help

That is your backup flash with odin
( When you flashed a custom rom it probably backed up your efs some roms backup by default)
I would just backup your efs you have at the moment just in case you have problems flashing. You will then be able to return to how your efs is now even though it is not fully working..
Or try this app >> https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hellcat.droiddev.ktool <<
The phone has to bee rotted to use ktool?
I also understand from the link you did about the EFS that there are two types of base bands and if I have an efs backup that I did on V1 baseband so I can't restore it on a v2 baseband, so my conclusion is to get back to 4.1.2... correct me if I am wrong

good that you found efs backup
yes you need root. or you use the recovery philz touch to restore your efs (then you don't need root, but a custom recovery).
well samsung roms based on 4.3 need efs v2, so you have to go back to 4.1.2 to restore your efs v1 backup.
if everything is working again, I would suggest you to use oding to upgrade to 4.3, because then everything should be updated correctly (but keep your efs backup, and make another one, just to be sure)
then you can try out again custom roms based on sammy 4.3
So what is the best option to restore it?
Because before I tried (while 4.3 stock rom was installed) the flash it with Odin but Odin always crashed when I was uploading it to Odin.
With kTool I tried before but when I am clicking on the button it says that it restored but he didn't asked for directory, when do I need to put it?
The same story with phliz, I also tried with this and he don't asks for directory, only asking whan the ending if the file-tar to bin...

and does it for xTool and phliz recovery destinations for teaking the recovery from?
Edit:

I exchanged the files with my back up and suddenly instead of 0049 IMEI I got 0000 IMEI.
I tired also to flash a modem and also didin't work...

Hmm... try installing another EFSv2 modem, then do the /efs copying part again.
Suddenly after so restarts, the IMEI got back
But... The SN now is 0000000000
You'll need to correct the permissions of the files you've copied. Try searching for someone who already did this and duplicate what they did.

Ok,
I tried something new. I flashed a new modem, backed up a full backup and then installed a costum rom 4.3.
the IMEI GOT BACK! And even the SERIAL NUMBER!
But I think the serial number is not good because he has 16 or 17 (I don't remember) digits (numbers and letters).
But still i have signal bars but can't make or receive calls he says: "No registered on network"
For the finalle, I tried ARIZA patch but he Is stuck on 0%...
here I stopped, I really don't know what to do.
Don't use the Ariza patch once you've got your IMEI and SN back. Maybe try flashing a new stock version of Android with a EFSv2 baseband so as to not go through the copying fiasco.

Same here (Think we done the same thing with the Marshmallow 6.0.1 leak) I backed up, but the new version of TWRP I have has EFS as a separate option, I never even noticed and never backed it up.
However I Flash with smartswitch, and after reflashing the bootloader with odin and a Root Kernel, I can boot into the device and using root explorer, I CAN see my EFS folder. I deleted the .nv_data.bin files and changed the .nv_data.bak to .nv_data.bin (was an older date) and I now have the network options back but a generic IMEI and can't register on a network.
I feel SO close to getting it up and running, but if smartswitch can't help, not fully anyway, I'm not 100% I can be rescued either.

I've called to my local service center and they said that they will reflash firmware fo 450 CZK (about 17 euros) and It will be done in 1 hour 30 minutes. So I will se what they can do with it. I've tried everything... and right now I don't know what else I can do. But If you figurate out how to fix it let me know Thanks!
Ive also heard that if you flashing each partion one at a time with odin that has fixed it for some

I got 3 old smartswitch backup and i find a file with the imei and everything , do you think its possible to backup this files ?
You CAN recover your phone with smartswitch, there is an emergency recovery function with a IMEI and SN input option, some users who used the same threat (android 6.0.1) and has lost their efs partition reported that smartswitch worked.
I've done this procedure too for some weeks to recover my phone an everything is working fine.
possibly with root explorer
