So I was just wondering, does the bootloader has to be unlocked to root your Neo? I'm quite afraid to unlock the bootloader because somebody said that if you unlock the bootloader and then put official firmware on, you'll brick your Neo. But I would still like to root because I'd like to remove the bloatware and maybe overclock.

No. No need to unlock your bootloader. You can root you device.
BUT. With open bootloader method is much better....and not so painful.
Bricking device you can anytime...no matter locked or unlocked bootloader.
That offical firmware story is true...but you need to do this "right way" and all be fine.
I like unlocked bootloader, because i can use custom kernel and with this is my device perfomance crazy seriosly.

Yep as Taavi said, you can root without a unlocked bootloader but it is much better to unlock it as it makes things easier and is well worth it. you can get alejandrissimo to help you if you wish or try another method on the forums, however if you are on 2.3.4 already, don't downgrade to 2.3.2 as this will make the battery go on 0% and I am not sure if this has been fixed yet.
enjoy your neo, it's a pretty awesome phone.

Im already downgrade back to 2.3.3 because doomlord kernel for 2.3.4 not yet relased and witout this kernel i cant live. Right now is the best 2.3.3 with doomlord v8 kernel.
Sent from my MT15i using Tapatalk
Ah yeah, that's cool then, I find 2.3.4 is fast enough without doomlords kernel, however overclocking would be nice, but I feel going back from 2.3.4 is not worth it as it's a good enough update to keep me there and wait for doomlords new kernel

What about battery lifetime with 2.3.4 my battery was about 8 hour with heavy usage...when i have 2.3.3 with doomkernel....24 hour with heavy usage no problema seriosly.

True, battery does seem to decrease a bit more using 2.3.4 without doomlords kernel, which i used on 2.3.3 before, but as i didn't test both with heavy usage, I didn't compare, but with average usage, usually when its less then 50% i only noticed i got an extra hour or 2 if that out of doomlords kernel, which is still good, but i don't mind, with 2.3.4 the phone surives thru each day for me, so it's all good. charge it on my pc, next to my bed and in the car, so it's always got battery. hope doomlord kernel does come out for 2.3.4 in the near future though. would be nice to have control of my overclocks etc again.

Endaoma jookseb 1,4Ghz peal. Ning LG unusta ära.....soojad soovitused.
Pikemalt v6in privas vastata.
English: ofcourse buy Neo Perfomance is insane and hardware best. And those who want play games will buy computer and play games in home. Who want play games anywhear will buy Xperia play or neo.
Sony Xperia Arc S says it will be stock 1.4ghz though, which is coming out soon I noticed, which means overclocks of 2ghz+ perhaps? just some food for thought. Recommend the neo over the LG though. Compare -> http://www.esato.com/phones/compare.php?phone=650&cp=787 LG, 3megapixel camera, Neo-8MP, bigger screen, updated android. etc but in the end your choice on the phone.
Yeah, well it depends. I want to buy a gaming PC, but if I have enough money left, I'll buy the Neo. But if not, I'll just buy the LG. LG is ok too, just got an Android 2.3.3 update, it's quite fast now.

Firstly.. do you have a X10i?
If you do
Then flash the stock rom.
Flash BB.67
Then flash Wolf breaks rom once it's started up crash the server and reboot a few times.
Then flash the TW 007 patch for WB's rom.
Here is the link to the thread that has this fw:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=936733
also i have posted my impressions on this fw on another thread, however i am copy pasting them again here, no prob:
I got it yesterday from xda and to be honest I was not sure whether to update or not, cause of the loss of apps and settings (I have to do them all over again cause I don’t like to back up stuff). I prefer to start fresh when I update. Anyways, to get to the point, the update at first did not seem any different, however after using it for a day it gives the phone a GREATLY improved interface. What I’ve noticed so far:
1. Touch screen is more responsive and the scrolling is smoother (I use launcherPro). I have also tried games like Fruit Ninja, Cut the Rope and Can Knockout 2 and there is a great improve on the touch response without lags or delays. In addition, touch seems more precise.
2. When I wake up the phone and unlock it it does not lag like it did in the previous firmware (.435)
3. Apps and in general everything I tap to open responds faster and has an animation (Not sure if that was from before, I noticed now)
4. I have noticed that the media volume is way higher, I hope I am not mistaken but to me it seems really higher than before. Not sure about the in-call volume though, I cannot really tell any difference, at least not a major one.
5. There is a difference into battery life definitely. I use ATK(Advanced task killer), Autokill set to Screen Off and Security level to Medium. After the upgrade the battery seems to drain slower. However, I cannot tell since I am using the phone for only one day, but i can say that after an normal use of the phone during the day, with several calls, gaming etc. my battery now is down to 73%
That is all i’ve noticed so far. I am not a tester, just a simple user. I have not run any benchmark or similar tests on the phone. I am posting this for the simple users that want to know what to expect from this upgrade.
P.S.: I have removed junk appks and enabled JIT right from the beggining of usage. I figured if I do it before actually use the phone it would reduce the chance for those apps to collect information and save it on the phone, thus improve maybe a bit the speed and space.

Technically this update is regional, not global, so there could be battery and signal issues if it is not designed for your region. Not enough senior USA X10a members have reported their results trying this German firmware on X10A yet. Try it, if you have trouble flash back, and report back on xda.
Works fine southeast North America x10a

If you wanna go to GB then i would recommend you Codename 7 by emannxperia.
Its the fastest and most stable GB rom for neo V.
hm, in the sample video it doesent seems much faster than my 4.0.3
when i think back i think to remember that the apps were instant open when i clicked on contacts or some other app... do i maybe just remember wrong?

Hi, if you have unlocked bootloader you can try Polish blood. Fastest among the few roms I've tried. If you're into customization, give Miui4 a shot. Both are ICS 4.0.4 btw, though they are much better than the stock one.

and if you have locked bootloader you can try jj's hybrid faster and lighter then stock 4.0.4 and stable...
JJ's Hybrid: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1542115
I also recommend you the Polish Blood if u have an unlocked bootloader. It is really the fastest rom I've ever used. I became obsessed with free ram issue and this rom has more than 200 mb free ram. It has some minor bugs but they are not important for me now and they will also be fixed in the next releases. No need to go back to 2.3.4 I think. 4.0.4 is also good now.
If you care about visualization or something different you can try miui roms like Dctuazon mentioned too.
However you can not know if you do not try. It is your choice!!

I have a rogers sxs and followed the guide to root my sxs with a locked bootloader and after a few tries was successful.
now i reset my sxs before i started, i'm using the LT26_6.1.A.0.452_Generic_CH_1257-3740_ ftf as my daily.
after the update my sxs's battery lasted about 3 hours and has slowly been getting better, but still seems bad. can't get a full day in (8 hours).
also once a day the phone just reboots, i go to open or swipe and it hangs then it just reboots.
has anyone else had issue's like this? could it be the root procedure or an ics issue or both?
thanks for any tips.
So I take it no one else has issue's like mine?

After reading trough bunch of posts in Neo section i just felt the urge to write this.
Srsly ppls, whats all the fuss about ICS on neo?
I dont get some ppls here, Sony gave u ICS choice.
If they dident give you ICS, you wld complain "Y U NO GIVE US ICS!!"
So they give it,and you are like "Y U NO MAKE ICS RUN AWESOME ON MEH NEO?!"
Eh? get my point?
Nao "was" awesome phone in GB times. It runs ICS decent, if u know how to make it run decent. its still an ok mid class phone!
Why dont we all accept Neo as it is? :good:
Cheers.
Have to agree with you that there are a lot of people whining on XDA and Sony forums. The problem is that most users don't know how to get the most out of their phone, like rooting unlocking bootloaders etc.
Sony did a decent job, at least they pushed out ICS, unlike Galaxy Ace and W(urgh) Gaming is however quite bad on ICS, which is why I am back on GB.
An ICS guide can be found in my sig. It's been gathering dust lately...
I've managed to somewise speed up mine stock Neo ICS by manually removing bloatware with RootExplorer and with AutoKiller Memory Optimizer
I´ve tried the stock ics rom but just doesnt deliver... i just got an hybrid rom, and i´m thinking about give it a chance to cyanogen...overall its ok... i´m not going back to gb so soon...
I don't have unlocked bootloader so I can't install custom rom but however I'm satisfied with this solution atm

Hello,
I have Sola for 6 months by now and it was a hell of a phone till i decided to upgrade to ICS. After that, my performance decreased signifcantly and I can't even do simple tasks. Tasks which a low end phone can do, even better then mine, such as the simple Galaxy Y S5360. And, yes, i get pissed when I look this phone behaving better then mine.
I tried to downgrade to GB, to upgrade to ICS, install a custom ROM of ICS and etc. Lately i tried Munjeni JellyBean, and after that, eXperience Innovation ROM. All of them have a good performance, but still, they do poorly then the Galaxy Y.
I miss my performance and i want to ask you guys, how the hell can i have my phone acting like a real dual-core phone?
Hope you guys can help me

The jb roms are not really stable yet. You can try experience v2 rom which is ics based rom and then if you have an unlocked bootloader u can change kernels or even oc ur device. And also what di you mean by slower?

Root it and debloat it asap. It would fly on and won't get back to Earth then, I bet.
Back up always before doing stuff
Before even thinking about installing new roms, kernels, mods, tweaks.. anything be sure that you've backed up using recovery and have saved it not only on your phone but your pc also.. that way if anything f***s up, all you need to do is restore and your saved.
Okay, i need your guys help again.
My phone did great till now, but its kinda slow already. So, i want to upgrade the kernel/rom/whatever to make it fly again. Would you guys recommend me some updates?
I was thinking of "eXperience Innovation" or maybe "Ultimate Rom V11". Those roms will make my phone better? As i said previously, I just need my phone behaving like a dual-core powerful phone as it is.
Thanks :cyclops:
Install cm9 or cm10.1. best roms for our phones, hands down
I suggest that you must try project xvr rom, its more stable and really smooth, no problem with multitasking, etc.
