Hey all, just got myself a Galaxy Tab 10.1, i came on here to scope out some themes and discovered there are a whole lot more than that here. I see alot of custom ROMS on here, can someone please recommend me.. are there any noticeable performance gains from it? thanks!

+1 for In Paris ROM. About to start working on my own though
I don't think there is any question that "In Paris" is the way to go. Both Task and Phantom have individually made VERY competitive ROMs. Together, they are like a rock band supergroup except for Android.

Grab Pershoots kernel. You can overclock it.

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Hello GUIse & Girls
As you can probably see in the subject bar (or title bar) in this thread, I was wondering what ROM's you guys are using. I think I've probably tested all the ROM's available for the SGSII (Since I'm a themer) and I can't come to the conclusion on which one is the best, they all have their strong points but some are better than others. I will eventually will put a Poll up when I can collate ALL the ROM's that are the main ones (No offence the ones I miss out).
I'll start,
I change ROM's almost daily (As I said, I'm a themer and need to test features) but at present I am using Revolution 2.6 with the Speedmod t27 Kernel, the battery isn't as good as expected, I've disabled fast dormancy and hardly use 3G Data or Wi-Fi and it seems just to drain like none of it's business. I'm even using the Black Android Theme I made for the SGSII as blacks work better and use 30% less power on the Super AMOLED plus.
So, which ROM are you using?

Lite'ning ROM with rstopher's Red Theme.
I tries most of the rom. But for battery life and stability, in my opinion, the best is so far the stock one (KH3 for the moment). I just apply some tweaks^^ (CRT, APN, Talk2, UAchange in browser...)

Usually stock is best as it's default with nothing added. You add whatever you want to it. Good really.

I recently got my SG S2, I replaced my beloved Xperia X10. This phone is a nice improvement, however I miss some stuff from the X10 like the led and the camera button
I just rooted my phone and I am lost in which ROM to install, My preferences are a stable full of gadgets and fast ROM
any suggestion?

I'd probably go with Revolution ROM, he included a ROM Kitchen app in it so you can install whatever tweaks and themes you need.
If you're looking for pure stability then it's Cognition.

hahaha you consider a preview kernel, with limited features/functionality and some bugs, to be the best kernel available to the vibrant?? or is it only the best because that's what you have?
i couldnt even mount my sd to my computer on that kernel.
im not trashing the dev by any means, thats why he called it a "preview kernel". but to come onto a thread and call it the best available is ignorant, and can be very misleading to inexperienced users.
Honestly , you should try it, It work so good, Speed is great! , No lag, Battery life is awsome., the only problem, the games open but for some reason close,/

So far battery life is ok for me, less than stock passion but thats expected for a preview. I am finding Live OC incredible, set clock speeds on the fly.
But overall Topshelf is right, its a PREVIEW, with more features and fixes to come, so its not best kernel as of right now, but imo soon
I am sure this has been asked before but I haven't been on here in a long time.
I am getting sick of waiting for Samsung to release ICS to this tablet.
I have searched to see which ROM is worth getting but have ended up beong more confused.
Anyway I was hoping someone could recommend to me which 4.0 [ICS] ROM I should get.
Which ROM is the most stable and has the least problems?
...What doesn't work on the ROM would be nice to know also.
Thanks in advance guys.
I have used both aokp and cm9. I prefer aokp because of tweaks like the battery bar at the bottom. For me they were both stable. I did find that Fifa 2012 ran better on aokp add well. but the cm9 had the dsp controls to change the sound better.
There is a sticky in the developers forum at the top where a guy has you tube videos comparing them. I would watch those and choose the one you like better.

I got fed up waiting for ICS on my P7510 (though it is out now) so I hunted around and tried several before settling on Toldo's ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1813651.
Everything is working, though I am experiencing an odd hyperlink problem on some web pages. I would definitely recommend this ROM.
I also would suggest Toldo's ICS ROM. Its working perfectly.

Beans is a great rom if you like lots of options and customizations while not compromising on stock features.
Clean rom is an awesome stable and fast rom with the least amount of unnecessary stuff in it. Completely stock but with some nice little changes and features.
Both are awesome and you're likely to revert back to one of these after playing with the other ones. So set one up the way you like and make a nandroid
Backup of one of these so you'll have something stock to come back to.
Both have free tethering that you won't have to pay for.
I also recommend helium (premium) before you embark on your quest

Welcome, man!
Jelly Beans is very stable and with the best battery life I prefer.
CleanROM is also very stable but I would prefer more customization.
MeanBean is stable with a nice feature ZeroWakeUp, but Jelly Beans has better battery performance.
They all feel very close to stock ROM, so good choice if you prefer stock ROM feel.

I'm curious, this will still increase your billing based on your data consumption right?

Correct, it still counts towards your data allowance. If you have the share everything plan, that includes tethering anyways.
I've done a lot of reading, have had my phone rooted for months, performed a full backup/restore of it with Titanium, and know my way around Clockwork Mod. I haven't, however, flashed a new ROM. At first, I was waiting for JB to see how it was. It's nice, but after some months now I've gotten bored and want to play.
What's the best ROM to try for your first time? Cyogenmod? Something else? I'm looking for something that lets me keep using the pen, but other than that I'm open.
Hopefully that's not too stupid a question. Thanks for your help.
First update your recovery to twrp....then just try them out is all I can say...there is no best ROM ...they are all great

Thank you. Just looking for somewhere to start. Guess I'm trying Revolt.
Can't seem to find revolt for the i717. Do you have a link?
That's an aosp rom, if your want to retain full s-pen functionality you'll need a touchwiz Rom.
Blackstar blackjelly
And
padawan
Are examples of such. They're customized versions of the firmware you're currently using.
Here's Revolt if you still want to try that.
My personal favorite is AOKP
Just know that with aosp roms the s-pen will be rendered just a regular stylus

Not really . the s pen will works on a aosp rom but you will not all the feature that the s pen can make but you can thirds party apps for making notes or drawing with it . In my own opinion all these features for the s pen was useless.
