Looking for anyone with any information on how to use Radiocomm (all of the functions).
Bottom line: I believe there is an easier way to unlock our bootloader (and any other moto bootloader for that matter) by using this program; and who knows we may find many other goodies we never knew about if we can put our heads together.
Not looking for information to illegally obtain services, etc.

If I may ask, are your beliefs that RadioComm can help unlock the bootloader based on any evidence, or is it just a belief?

PM cellzealot on here. He is a TBH guy and the guy who posted all the radiocomm builds on the nets.
I seriously doubt you will have any luck, as cellzealot would have found something already. He's been working with this software for years and is a mad scientist.

I believe this version is 11.11.11, which is the latest I can find also. The manual is very vague. Good find though. There's got to be more info about this program somewhere.

RadioComm is Motorola's premier diagnostic serviceware. It is designed for use by top level software engineers. It can access any Motorola device in any mode and perform a huge variety of tests and analyze any aspect of the radio hardware and software.
With a quick gkance at the GUI and the most seasoned and experienced phone modder is immediately confronted with the fact that they are not a radio engineer and there's a good reason these guys probably make more than you do.
It is an incredibly complex and cluttered multi window GUI with myriad buttons and fields that can read or write or execute all manner of low level hardware diagnostic and settings parameters.
You can even set and burn the fuses on the bootloader.
You can also subsequently render your phone unbootable or worse in seconds if you randomly press buttons or execute anything. There are built in safeguards for most critical operations but very few warnings anywhere. It does what you tell it to do...with wonderful or disastrous results.
It is a very powerful tool if you respect it and your worst enemy if don't.
Its just plain scary...but fascinating and you can learn a great deal about how your phone really works.
Please be very careful and if exploring the GUI only read things and never write or execute anything unless you are certain you understand what you are doing.
Thanks to kennethpenn we have a very current version again now with compatibility for the latest devices.

Well, now that this got off track...
There isn't a device specific guide for each? I am surprised we don't have ex-engineers in any of these communities.
Did some cleanup, chill out guys.
Back on topic please.
I knew years ago there was a reason I shoulda went and stayed in school to be an engineer. Dangit. Who has one of those newfangled time machine thingys?
I had read about this radiocomm program before. I had stumbled upon it while hoping to randomly find a miracle with google for bootloader. From what I read it CAN be done but is extremely complicated. Maybe some of us should go spam some engineering forums somewhere wit links to bounty thread and radiocomm

Ohh boy. The information in those 2 posts right there make me want to do something that I'll probably regret later..
Downloading Radiocomm now. I'm gonna do some reading tonight and if it still seems promising I may be tempted to try some experiments on the ol' X2.
Does anyone have any idea what would happen if we managed to disable fuse #1? It seems like uncharted territory.
Edit: Just spent a few minutes checking out the Radiocomm UI.
I don't even know where to start.. I don't plan on plugging my phone in until I understand at least the basics, but I can't even figure that out. There's nothing even resembling the Tegra 2 chipset under the CDMA1X tab in the top menu. or any other tabs.. The highest I've found is MSM 7500.
If anyone can figure something promising out (and explain it to me so I can understand it!) I would be willing to put my X2 on the line to test. I'll spend the rest of tonight searching, but damn.
The latest version of Radiocomm I could find is 11.12.2

I just had a suggestion, we should just make it simple for this fine phone and devs
or someone should develop a simple unrevoked root and unlock method just like the evo uses.
Current methods are rediculous, all though i got it done, its a hassle for others.
We need to get clockwork through rom manager and get this phone goin with some rom development
the hassle of unlocking bootloader is to much!!

seriously dude? you think that this thought hadnt crossed anyones mind? unrevoked does htc, hence why there is no unrevoked for all the locked moto bootloaders. rather then complain about it take a dive, learn some code figure out how things work and try helping.

Besides, rooting is a very simple procedure with ADB. As Shabby said, the one click is on the way. Ticking off the developers is not the way to get things done faster. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect. Please remember that before posting nonsense like this.

Obviously written by someone who didn't have an Evo on launch day, and doesn't remember that Unrevoked wasn't out until the phone had been out for quite some time. The original root method for the Evo was considerably more difficult than the new Photon method.

Totally agree. He had a suggestion, he did not insult anybody's intellectual property, nor did he directly or indirectly insult any dev for not putting out good work. He simply indicated that current methods are a little involved and that in an ideal environment, we should strive for simplicity. I don't know any dev worth their salt who isn't compelled to debug their code, to improve it, and to learn from their mistakes. Frankly I'm a little surprised at the reaction. Especially the comment about wanting to put the OP "out of his misery." Where I come from, any analogy to terminating somebody's life is incendiary and uncalled for.
no it wasnt a suggestion, it was a call to the devs to hurry up and make things.

why? coming from the epic im sure a lot of users can agree with teh issues that phone had, too many people were run off by people demanding crap.

NOTHING.. the phone wont even charge or respond to me plugging it in to my computer.. I still have a warranty but REALLY dont feel like going through all that.. any easier methods?

#1 I am sure the developer made a program that worked fine, have I used it no I used one better stock Hboot.
#2 Did you use the program wrong, I am going to say yes since you carelessly put a file in the radio box that you were not even sure went there.

hmm.. well lets see i downloaded a RADIO from xda and inside the zip file were the two files i flashed under RADIO because that IS what I downloaded.. but yeah Im the stupid one.. i should have put it in some other checkbox that didn't say RADIO.. i should have just put it in the bootloader checkbox or something.
Did you try a battery pull? If you can at least get it to boot into bootloader, you may be able to reflash the radio.
Not sure, because I've never used the app your talking about.
Anyways, good luck.

Never heard of it but it looks like AndroidFlasher uses fastboot to flash radios for several different devices.
So for a brick one of these is probably the case
1) the radio you downloaded was wrong
2) AndroidFlasher doesn't take into account multiple radios for Thunderbolt so the wrong radio was flashed to the wrong location
I talked to the developer he said you are the only one who did this process wrong. So yes you are the dumb one. Go ask him what you did wrong. Please stop trying to make yourself any smarter or someone else's fault.

Hey bro!
First of all, let me clarify for the XDA world, it doesn't seem to me that you are "DUMB". In fact, I don't think we need to even tell people these things. On the opposite side, we all do "ignorant" things at times. Please don't get offended that I say the word, "ignorant"? All ignorance means is that you did or did not do something without knowledge or experience. Ignorance does not claim that you are dumb. The word "dumb" is defined by Webster as, "Lacking the power of speech". Evidently, that is not what you are doing! In fact, you were trying to do the opposite!
Sincerely, I have done many ignorant things in my life. So, I am not sure that you will be able to fix your phone, but I hope and pray that you do get it fixed. Keep your head up and don't be afraid to fail. You are doing more than many people! Those who do not take risks fail because they accomplish little.
Living by Faith in Christ,
Ryon Lee Adcock

Edit'd.
Dear OP,
Looks like Grnlantern79 did your homework for you!
I took a pretty good chunk of time to compile a beginner's Q&A thread that answers virtually every beginner question. As Einstein said, the difference between stupid and genius is that genius has it's limits (as in, stupid has NO limits). I think I speak for every developer out here when I say it's impossible to predict how "ignorant" a potential user is going to be. There's a very real expectation that guys like you are going to school themselves on some basic things. To not assume that puts a LOT of explanatory work on guys like Grnlantern79, myself, and others, that's simply not needed for the VAST majority of folks out there.
I've been bumping around the Tbolt forums for a while now. I can't recall ever seeing anything describing what you attempted to do. I know you didn't find it in any radio thread here, on Rootzwiki, or teamBAMF.com, which are the only places that have respectable radio listings. Clearly you didn't read my thread either. In fact, you somehow managed to avoid a tremendous wealth of information!
The answer to your question is you're SOL. It's that simple. You did at least two stupid things, probably more, and it can only be accounted for by deliberately avoiding/neglecting knowledge. First, you didn't check the MD5. An MD5 is ONLY valid when it's checked on the root of your SDcard. Second, you had no idea what software you were dealing with; either the radios or this flash utility. Bad radio flashes, even through hboot, will brick your device. They are NOT recoverable. Even if you'd done whatever you were trying to do correctly, your neglect of verifying the file could have bricked it.
So, when you get your new device, I HIGHLY recommend reading my thread and following the directions to the letter. I can promise you that you will not accomplish anything more with what you were (possibly) trying to do than what I've laid out already using well tested and highly reliable means.
And with all due respect, please do some reading around here. Between XDA and Rootzwiki, you will learn almost everything you'll ever need sans the дезинформация.

Yep, I believe the kernal has nothing to do with the android installation, Android has it's own kernel. I have F4 Phantom installed and am having no issues what so ever -- other than the ones that everyone else is having due it's alpha state
Once installed you will be able to choose between android and HP's Web OS after rebooting the device.
If you need a video guide to move 4 files onto a usb drive, run a program in CMD prompt/Terminal, then you really shouldn't be running Alpha software.

I'm getting tired of people using this BS as an excuse for reckless behavior.
Modding/Using something foreign to you without first knowing how it works is being reckless.
We were all new a some point in time.
Just that there are usually instructions with anything you buy or directions on how to perform a procedure. It is called being prudent.
Would you perform surgery on someone without knowing everything that is involved in surgery?
Would you let someone who doesn't know how to drive a car onto the road?
Would you let someone that doesn't know how to cook prepare a meal for you?
I can go on and on.
So why would you risk damaging you precious $$$ device?
Read the directions/manuals and ask questions if you don't understand something. When you fully understand what you are doing and all accompanying risks, then you should proceed with caution.
Being a noob is not an excuse for negligence.

Actually it might be a good idea to remove it as there is a limited amount of space in the /boot partition, so if you've got a ton of kernels or other stuff in there, there may not be enough space left for moboot and cm7's uimage. Shouldn't be an issue if you've only added one kernel though, but just sayin'...
My reply to all of you is this:
THOUSANDS of people bought these CLEARANCE tablets with the intention of getting Android on them. It would be different if this was a $500 tablet and people actually cared about the value. I know that I wouldn't have bought it for anymore than the $100 I spent, and that makes it more of a TOY than anything.
I say that if people want to flash this, there is no reason why it can't be easy. Hundreds of people are saying "Thank you" because they wouldn't have been able to do this without my video. To them, I say "You're Welcome." To the rest of you, if this video bothers you, don't watch it.
Noobs will always exist, I'm just trying to do my part in helping them de-noobify themselves. (is that a word? Well, it is now.) Some of you act like you have to EARN the right to flash this. I don't understand that. People understand the risk and make their decision based on their level of comfort. If I screw something up, I ask for help. If YOU screw something up, YOU ask for help. I think that is the whole purpose of these communities. For those of you who are saying that my video is causing people to come out of the woodwork and ask stupid questions... I say deal with it. Again, what gives you more of a right to try this alpha than anybody else?
Every time you light a match, just remember... the cavemen had to use sticks.

MY reply wasn't necesarily for the TP
It goes for phones, PCs etc...
I actually pay full price for my phones... and I'm not rich
I never said people shouldn't flash.
Go and reread my post.
I'm merely telling people to use their heads.
That is all.
also I didn't complain about your video so idk where that came from.

I see, my apologies.
That is how most conflicts start, with a misunderstanding.
Cheers
I have been rooting and using custom ROMs since the earlier Galaxy Captivate days, so I consider myself fairly skilled in the art.
Today I set out to root and put CM9 on my wife's I777.
Got the phone rooted with the Zedomax kernel and I have superuser on the phone.
Reboot into recovery and I get CWM V5.0.2.3 All good, right?
Got the CM9 rom on the micro SD card and I select select INSTALL Zip from sdcard
Hit the powerbutton and I get a black screen with a hat and an orange circle.
To only way to get out is to hit the Power button.
None of the options work.
Only way to recover is to remove battery.
What is going on here? I must have missed something.
TIA Robert
Use the home key to select and don't use zedomaxs stuff. There is a reason his thread is locked here. His stuff is pure garbage

Home button? LOL
Anyway, before I wipe anything on that phone should I abandon this and use a different root method?
It is pretty hot and humid outside and I don't want to spend the next few days outside because I mess up her phone.

Care to elaborate on that? Not attacking by any mean, just trying to learn why you think that way. It worked fine for me, but maybe I am missing something.

You got his stuff from a different website, Used his guides and stuff. Why would you come here for support for his bull****?
Thats why.
Want support, use guides and tools from here.

I didn't come here for support for anyone's "bull****", I just hijacked (my apology) this thread to ask why you guys think it's bull****. As I said - not trying to attack anyone or anything or any method, I asked a genuine question. One would think you could spell out a genuine reason why it's crap. Too bad your tone rules this great forum. Just a simple question...geez. Thanks anyway.

Ever since he posted his kernel it has caused problems with people losing wifi and such. Then most of the new people come here complaining about the problems. Its best to use what is on this site to root and find a more stable kernel.

If your just going to flash cm9 then I wouldn't worry about using another method as your gonna override the kernel anyways. So just go ahead and wipe and flash and enjoy

Zedomax's first priority is building web sites that will make him money. He is only secondarily a developer of firmware, and evidently fairly talented. However, his mode of operation is to build a website with rooting tools for a phone, promote it for a few days, and then you hardly ever see or hear from him again. He's already moved on to another phone and another web site. So his tools get old and become unsupported. Some of the firmware he provides works as advertised, and some of it causes serious problems. Once he develops something, it seems he doesn't even care to determine if it is bug free. In particular for this phone, his rooting method seems to work, at least most of the time. However, his unrooting method causes untold problems, and even soft bricks. And people come here to ask how to fix the problems. Some have had fairly serious problems that are rather difficult to correct from using his tools. We've seen so many problems associated with his stuff that when we see the name zedomax, we immediately think, "ok I know what your problem is."
Thank you yoderk and creepyncrawly.
First of all I would just like to say that moto's post was uncalled for, this is a great site but i swear sometimes the people here can be a bit rude. anyway I agree you should stay away from zedomax's stuff ( no offense to him) you can use this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311081 i used it and vouch for it it has all the info youll need or use jivy root guide too Hth
Hello all, I've had this phone for quite awhile now, and as we all know... IT'S SLOW!!! The only cure would of course be a custom ROM, however in our case, LG decided it'd be a great idea to shoehorn badly optimized software, sucking up TOO much RAM right out the bat.
I've tried the primary way, which involved flashing v20b, the necessary zips, and the command, which failed miserably. I'm assuming that the server or whatever that "sent the unlock command" is no longer active... and my phone was 05\2013 meaning it was suppoed to work. Devs must now dig deep into the code itself at this point as far as I know... Has everyone already bailed out or is there someone still working on it.. Feel free to start a new discussion here as well. :good:
What do you guys think? Anything?
There's currently no other unlock methods and there probably won't be any as the devs will move on to less restricted devices

As mentioned above, there is no new method, I would suggest giving the old method a go once again.

Curses. Thanks, I'll find a day to attempt to do it again.. but I'm usually busy alot too.
Yeah I'm still working on my guides sometimes but its getting pretty dead here since no one can unlock their bootloader. I figure if my guide explains it all amd they can unlock using it there will be more activity here.
I finally received my parts for making a 910k cable...
Gotta wait till next weekend, hopefully I can unlock this thing. Somehow i'm beginning to doubt i'll be able to....

It was yours I actually tried. I liked yours much better than the old one because it was actually laid out much better. Only thing I can think of is trying the 910K Cord, I'm awaiting user feedback before i spend money I don't have. hmmm...
Please

Was not fun at all.
I think we have to wait until DarryDoo comes back, he seems to be the only one who knows how to flash it properly.
Unless there's a big and obvious truth that i'm overlooking.
So I tried the Locked BL CM9. It was marvelous, I got the screen working and everything, but the camera and rotation are backwards. I use those two quite alot. :crying:
I wish someone could port 2nd int CM11 over to our phone.
I'm going back to stock in the meantime, I might try again tomorrow.
I wish

Did you have any problems with my guide? If so, please tell me where because I would like to make it better.
Sorry I've been away, personal crap has been overwhelming.
I still haven't tried to unlock 2nd phone, maybe this weekend or Monday. I'll fully document the process.
Cheers

There was nothing wrong with it, it was just likely my luck. because the Unlock command didn't do squat.
I understand
