Mugen Power Extended Batteries for HTC EVO 3D (1950mAh and 3600mAh) - HTC EVO 3D

Mugen Power released their premium batteries for HTC EVO 3D - 1950mAh and 3600mAh
Looks good and trustworthy.

Mugen Power 3600mAh battery for EVO 3D is here

$98.95 sounds crazy expensive

Holy crap!! For $98 I'll stick with my beast and gorilla for less than a third of the price.

Yeah Mugen charges way too much for their extended batteries. Hell, even the Seidio 4000mah is $30 less then this.

seidio looking better lol
even gorilla ddoes

the 3600mah is not worth the price. i'm happy with my 4000mah seidio.
however, i'm interested/curious about the 1950 mah battery for my wife. from the description, it doesn't need a replacement battery door?

1750 is stock
---------- Post added at 10:28 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:24 AM ----------
i bought a battery from them once. It was slightly larger than the stock size (much like the 1950 being sold for the e3d). The difference was minor, but at the very least, it was an extra battery to swap out. My new favorite method though is to buy the cheap "2 for $10 w/ charger" batteries from ebay and only use them as a battery life extension. Ill carry on in my pocket when im almost empty or have a long night ahead.

Try this. Half price and you can pick it up locally. Bought 2 the other day.

So guys, what is better?
Mugen or Seidio battery?

The Seido 4000mah battery & case gives me 2-3 days of use, and the case has a nice non slip grip to it. The only downside is it's twice the thickness of the standard case.

This is hard to say...I never used Seidio but heard good things about them. I'm on Mugen for years now and can vouch for them. They have awesome support on facebook http://www.facebook.com/MugenPowerBatteries

Well, I ordered a battery for a friend who has an evo 3d and also did a review to share with you guys - here it is
Well, this time – Mugen’s delivery was before time – took around 2 and a half days to get to me , it was well packed in the usual compact packing with padded protection. And for a change they had a white branding on the battery rather than the usual black – looks pleasant.
Inside the packet we had the plastic backdoor, the 3600 mAh battery and the warning card with all the instructions – simple indeed.
Mugen offers a standard black plastic door with this battery – this cuts on the battery can feel pretty huge – especially the one for the camera lenses, and the camera shutter button – the cover looks fragile when not deployed, however when in use it is strong, sturdy and feels nice, though I prefer the HTC cover over the Mugen one. It will be nice if they improve the quality one notch.
The battery is huge, and almost double the width of the sleek and slender phone, weight wise doesn’t affect much, but obviously heavier than the stock one. compared to the other Mugen batteries I have used, this one somehow felt a little more compact and light – though the phone does gain the thickness and bulkiness – but the battery doesn’t runi the looks as EVO 3D isn’t a thin phone as such, like the Galaxy S II or the likes.
The door’s fit is very firm and feel’s decent in hand – the phone feels bigger for obvious reasons, and it’s presence in the pocket can be clearly felt. Overall, a decent design and worth the added thickness for the extra juice one gets.
The battery is rated at 3600 mAH which is nearly double the capacity of the stock battery which is rated at 1730 mAh. Going by the capacity we should expect double the battery life, but is it actually double ? Well, we would certainly give credit to the manufacturer – because it does give us more than double the battery life.
Alright, first of all let me tell you that I have been using the phone since quiet some time and the stock battery does not last more than a day with heavy data usage which includes constant data transfer, multiple push email accounts, 24X7 connectivity to IMs, Twitter and Facebook, media playback and basic gaming and calls.
Now comes the time to test the battery, well it does take some good amount of time to charge the battery from 0 to 100% took me nearly three hours to do that, but the usage was just very well worth the long charging time ! The battery lasted me around two and a half days, with constant connectivity and media use. I even filmed videos and took 3D pictures, which does take an extra toll on the battery. On the whole, once again Mugen Power proved that it does last as long as it promises, sometimes even longer.
The Mugen battery we are talking about certainly does make a difference to the way your phone looks, and it’s a compromise for battery life – though if you are a user like me – who is on the go throughout the day, you should get one of these. Overall, this battery being priced at almost $100 is certainly more expensive than others in the market – but, then it’s performance has proved it’s worth time and again, however I do hope that Mugen Power innovates and comes up with thinner batteries, as the thickness is a big negative. On the whole, I'm pleased with the performance !

This battery last 20-30% LESS than my orginial battery. This battery doesnt even last me the whole day and right now the activity on my phone is 20-30 texts, 1-2 games, 3-4 short calls, and a couple misc short sessions of doing whatever. The rest of the time is the phone just sitting there with the screen off or in sleep mode.

that sounds like the same I get from the stock battery. And it has been posted before that the 1500mAH batt is not really any better than the 1350mAH batt. If you want longer batt not just a standard spare then pony up the size to a 2800 or 3000 mAH.

Glad you felt able to use my doctored picture...LOL
I gave this battery the award (see photo) after testing it out for a week and being so peed off that I made my mind up to send it back.
However, with regarding returning the battery...the company is obviously "DODGY AS HELL" and is on the other side of the world from where I am in the UK. So with these facts in mind I have emailed them first, along with sending an copy of the email and a covering message to a third party and am waiting on a reply!
I will keep you all posted as to what happens next as I have asked the company to provide a "usable" reply. I will post the details forthwith.
I am calling them Monday and telling them the POS battery is coming back and I want my card refunded.

I think I might try the mugen 1500mAH battery.
This is a great idea, thanks G35driver for coming up with it! I'll have a few traditional accessories to add later, but meantime I propose that we could include the service providers as an 'accessory', since most of our phones are unlocked and hence, not dependent on any specific carrier. By definition that would make the carrier and accessory. Sometimes these 'accessories' can be rather useless and as the public becomes aware, the carriers may be more responsive.
Regards
I agree with Sleuth. My Seidio 1500 mah battery is slightly better than the stock 1350.
When I bought the 2800 battery I was looking around for a case to customize so that the battery would fit. The first one I try was this cheap $5 case.

this is a brilliant idea.... id like to warn anyone from buying SD cards of any type from ebay.
got a 2 gig SD about 6 months ago now cause it was cheap ($20AUD), turned out to be a 512 sd card with a partition of 2gig, thankfully got a refund and the dude shut down the trading name when i reported him.
moral of the story is buy a storage card from retail outlet.

I bought one too, your one looks identical to the one I got.. It fitted nicely and if you glued it to the phone it would be brilliant.. I'm tempted to do that to the back half at least..
As it is though its totally rubbish, guess we should have expected that though.

I bought the same case from Meritline. I've gotten the clear, the smoke grey, and the black. While I'll agree that the black sucks, I've been extremely happy with the smoke grey. It's the perfect color compliment to my 8525, and it adds very little bulk. I remove the belt clip on mine, too, so that I can keep it in my pocket. I've found that the clips that secure it to the body will eventually give way if you're the kind that swaps phones & batteries frequently (like me). Heck, though... At $5 a piece? I just bought 5 of them and should have plenty to last me until I migrate to a new toy. I must say that I wish they'd make one without the front camera hole for those of us on 8525s. It traps dust in there pretty easily, and I find myself removing the front cover once every few days to clean the grunge out.
Don't buy HTC TyTN invisibleSHIELD! I've ordered one, but it was designed for Cingular 8525 (it has differrent D-Pad layout), though it was marked "HTC TyTN". I've complained, explained the difference, and was sent a replacement... the same 8525 version!
I've installed the common parts anyway, and I'm quite dissatisfied. Probably my hands are too hot, but the side parts were slipping too often from their places, and finally I had to remove them. It happened in around 3 months of use. Currently my device has left only back and top pieces (I never used the screen shield). They had pleasant glossy look at first, now they look dirty, and don't stick to the device at some places anymore. While the material itself can be great, the idea is good, but the glue appears not satisfactory.

oh yeah i got a battery for my old magician thinking if i get 6 months outa it then for $10AUD ill get one, the thing lasted about 24 hours before loosing all charge then the seller wanted me to pay for postage to return it!

It's amazing how significant the back cover is to the perception of build quality.

I got my Seidio 4000mAh extended battery today, which comes with its own back cover. The back cover is not nearly as nice as the factory one, and it really makes the phone feel like a piece of crap. The buttons don't feel as nice/solid, and the fit & finish isn't as good. Even the lack of a trim ring around the cameras and headphone jack makes it look significantly cheaper.
Anyway, sorry to nag... I just thought I would post my observation. I haven't tried the battery yet, because it's still charging. I'm sure it'll give it fantastic battery life, but part of me wants to return it.
Dave
Dave,
thats a great observation... Especially for those looking to pick up an extended battery.
thanks for the review
i agree with the OP, i was thinking all day today if im the only 1 that felt like this. as much i like the extra battery life i hate the back and think i might return it.
What I think everyone who owns one should do is create one official thread regarding the cheap back cover. Have everyone post who agrees and then email the link to the company and request $25 to be refunded or else your returning it. That will get their attention.

I'm not a big fan of the back either, but it's a lot like the one that came with the 3500mah battery for the Evo 4G. Anyway, I'm certainly not going to return the battery because I don't like the back...the extra juice is definitely worth the cosmetic change. Besides, once I get a case for it, it won't matter.

Pictures of this battery door cover?
Got my seidio 4000mha super extended battery yesterday. Battery life with it is fantastic. I'm not seeing any problems with the cover. It takes a bit for it to seat snug and seamless on the phone, but get it set, and it feels rock solid. I would attribute this to the fact that this back cover is more beefy than stock. It has more pronounced buttons that I find easier to press, though they require slightly more pressure, the flat black cover is Less "flair", no Chrome or red around camera shows, which appeals to me because I'm a soldier, so it does not stand out against my uniform, and it matches my 2 other favorite toys, my heavy duty black watch and my glock 19.
The shape of this cover seems to be a recurring topic. I thought it might be an issue but have had no problems with it. It slides into my pocket easily with the shape and protects the lenses. It does not feel excessively large in my hand. I would recommend it. I have shown it to the other drill sergeants I work with. We are notorious for being hyper critical, and there were no cracks about my banana phone, or how happy I am to see them ...etc...they Just looked with envy as their phones are out of juice, while I have been referencing mine all day for various topics.
I also ordered the chichitec dual batteries w/ charger. I got a link here on xda, I bid and won them last week on ebay for $12, hope they come soon , because I miss my tpu-case.com case. What ever extended battery tpu-cases.com supports is my next buy, their cases are durable and fit my lifestyle and profession.
Tpu-cases and seidio owe me big for pushing their products. I accept checks , money orders , or free $hit. Even better , play nice together.

Another Battery Review from eBay!!!

Here is a review about a Samsung OEM battery that I ordered from eBay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/170777124490?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
I just received this battery in the mail today.
My initial impression is that I am not sure if this is real Samsung OEM product. First of all, the stickers we not on straight and clean like my battery that came with my phone. Also, it seems bit lighter than my Samsung OEM battery that came with my phone.
We'll see how it performs. I will post an update in few days in regards to battery performance.

This is counterfeits that cheat people by telling it is oem. If you look at the logo and compare with real oem that came from you phone you will see difference. There are few more differences i can pin point to differentiate. I have bought them from ebay and returned them due to their originality and weak performance compared to oem. There are ones that are sellig real oem on ebay though.

Sounds and looks similar to the batteries I got on ebay a month ago 3 for $13. I'm guessing you will get 5-6 hours of battery life on it.
Quick update. I had the battery charged fully and put the battery in phone last night. I used the phone little and when I woke up this morning, it was dead. I can already sense that this battery is not performing like OEM Samsung battery.
I will recycle the battery few more times and post an update.
Since the seller was here in the US, I figured I would have a better luck but I guess not.

Another quick update.
I put this battery full charge on my phone around 1am, went to sleep and woke up it had 74%. I used the phone lite and by 2:45pm or so battery went dead. On my OEM battery that came with the phone, I can go 14 hour+ if put the battery in the morning on lite use and still have some power left. I can definately sence ebay battery lacks Juice.
See below pics for comparison.
Here is the pic of the stay screen.

You get what you pay for can apply to these cheapies, sometimes not. This can be good or bad. You can think you are buying OEM and get crap, and you do not get what you pay for by trying to get oem and failing. Or you can read some reviews and get the cheap batteries that seem to offer decent (but rarely OEM like) and go with the volume over capacity approach like I do. If you have the spare coin, get the OEM. But if your budget minded like I am, sometimes taking the gamble on the cheapies is well worth the payoff. Here's how my math breaks down:
OEM
12 hours
$30
$2.5 per hour of run time
Hong Kong Special 3 batteries and external charger for $10
6-8 hours each
3 for $10 = $3.33/each
$0.42 per hour of run time
The down side is you have 4 batteries to keep up with and not just 2. The up side is I always have batteries stacked up and ready to go. I am still waiting on mine to get delivered but this system proved to work very well in the past as I always buy 2-3 spares for every phone.
The inherent risk is that sometimes these batteries are substandard and are rumored to swell or even come apart and damage a device. This is where doing your homework comes in and giving yourself the best odds as possible when dealing with them. If your not willing to accept the risks, don't buy them. As for getting anything OEM off of ebay, your usually be scammed on these so easy to fake products. The average user at XDA tends to be more tech oriented then the average phone user so we are more likely to realize we've been had whereas the average buyer will slap it in and never thing twice about it other then that their phone really uses alot of juice or that their phone simply sucks.
(The above figures are rought numbers off the top of my head and general prices I've paid in the past)
Update.
I can say for sure now that this is NOT Samsung OEM like what they claim. Performance is really poor on this.
Gonna ask for refund.

The seller will refund $10 so I guess I will keep the battery.
Just beware of all the fake OEM out there. Especially on eBay.

Was the battery only $10? You need to take action on this, even if you keep the battery. You neeed to report the item and the seller. Ebay has taken a pretty strong stance on knock offs being sold as originals. If they clearly state its a knock off i wouldnt worry, but if they sell it as OEM then you need to go after them. If not for yourself, then for the rest of the consumers out there. Hammer them and report the fraud. Document document document. Keep emails, take photos of batteries, and so on. Wouldn't hurt to fire an email off to samsung and CC the seller notifing them of the seller selling knock off batteries as OEM even after you informed them of the error of their ways.
just my $0.02
+1 to this idea. I bought hyperion batteries. Got 2x and a charger for $24 shipped from a US seller. They do not perform as good as OEM but I didn't really expect them to, they are emergency batteries. If I were you i'd make sure the seller you bought from never pulled that S**t again.

I get on my wife about thi kind of thing all the time. My outlook on it is this: If you arn't willing to do anything about it, then you have no right to be mad that it happened to you in the first place. I go after sellers and companies all the time for this stuff. I am an ebay and amazon seller and am appauled by the level of scammers out there, and there are just as many scammer buyers as there are scammer sellers. it may not be worth it to you, but remember the principal behind it, pretend that it happened to your mother or grand mother instead of you if you need a little fire under ass to get aggressive about it. And I am MORE then happy to help you draft an email to samsung about the issue if you want.
I agree with Chief Geek. Report this seller to eBay. Also, it would be beneficial to post here who the seller is so we can avoid the person too. No need for anyone else to fall into his trap.
i've come to learn from my past experience all ebay batteries sucks
i now only stick to OEM batteries

Companies rarely release a larger battery for their devices that are here today gone tomorrow like phones. That is where after market companies come in. There are a couple companies that specialize in extended batteries out there. Mugen is the best known of these. They sell for a premium but have a very good track history of happy customers.
I've had my Galaxy Note for almost a month now. I am rooted (Stock) no custom ROM or have I flashed a kernal for battery, straight stock rooted. I purchased 2 wall chargers. The wall charger from ebay came with 2 trexcell 2620 mAh batteries and the one from Amazon.com came with 2 Hyperion 2600 mAh batteries. I have calibrated the stock Samsung battery and the others. The Samsung stock battery after almost a month of charger cycling gives me about 21 hours of moderate to heavy use. The Hyperion battery gives me about 12-13 hours. The trexcell battery is garbage with 5-6 hours of use. I can't complain because at least i have a backup travel wall charger.
The Trexcell battery only charges with the wall charger, you cannot use a car charger or the USB charger that came with the Note. It gives you (Battery Disconnect) message when you plug it in to charge. So if you are out and about this spells trouble if you don't have a backup battery. These Trexcell batteries can't be 2620 mAh! I will order a Yoobao battery next. I had good experiences with Yoobao when I had my HTC Evo 4G. My Yoobao extended battery out performed my Seidio extended battery that i paid almost $80 for half of that price. Basically stay away from the Trexcell's. Also I purchased a Hyperion 5000mAh extended battery but I didn't see the quote about the extended battery back not fitting the American Galaxy Note. Will just have to wait for someone to come out with the back for it.

I would trash (actually recycle) these batteries IMMEDIATELY. Batteries that bad shouldn't be trusted sitting on the bookshelf let alone in an expensive device.
These are the batteries that I'm still waiting for, on the slow boat from HK.
Hoping they prove to be decent, I've had pretty good luck in the past.

Extended Battery Test - Hyperion vs. Onite

I have now tried both the Hyperion 6200 mAh and the Onite 6500 mAh. I have used each for a 48 hour period, not counting the initial charge and total discharge.
Thoughts:
They are both good. The Onite seemed to last a little longer, as I essentially had to abuse the phone to get it below 50% in one day. The Hyperion got as low as 37%, but again, I am taking no steps whatsoever to conserve power. The brightness and every other customizable feature is completely maxed, bluetooth and wifi are always on, etc. With the stock battery, this sort of use wouldn't last eight hours. These models are compatible with ALL versions/carriers of the phone, as I have confirmed.
The back covers are definitely bigger, but I actually find them more comfortable. The battery is more than 100% bigger in mAh, but the back plate is only about 50% bigger. I was pleasantly surprised. The Note is a little thinner than what I'm used to, so I almost prefer the bigger back. The Hyperion case only bulges out for the battery, with the top returning to the thickness of the original back piece. The Onite case is evenly dispersed, which I think I like a little better. However, the Hyperion case fit perfectly and the Onite case never really did on the very top of the phone. I couldn't get it to snap properly, and there's a gap (although barely noticeable,)
I paid $32.97 for the Onite and, provided they send me a new back plate that fits, that's the one I'll be keeping. I paid $21.48 for the Hyperion battery, including shipping. Both were purchased on Amazon. I will probably not try the Mugen battery, although I'm sure it performs similarly. The price is just impossible for me to justify. My financial priorities are screwed up enough as it is.
I hope this helps someone.

I am not really into making this phone any bigger but I sure do appreciate your time and feedback and I am sure others will too! Great review! :good: Just an FYI... This might get moved to accessories as that would be the best place to post this info...
Fantastic review for those wanting the extended batteries. I've been curious about them, but the stock does more than enough for the way I use it. But, it's always a possibility...

I think the battery is already good enough guys! But it would be sick to have an extended battery like this for emergency situations like the power going out.
14-16 hours screen on time...shut the front door. haha
I appreciate the time you took to conduct the test, but it was very subjective. The best test for each would be to loop a high-def video on the identical phone under the exact same circumstances (wi-fi on, distance from cell tower etc..), then you remove all outer influences for a completely unbias test with no external factors at play.
But again, thanks for the time you put in.
For me, it's just about freedom and using the device to it's full potential. For instance, after nine hours of aggressive use today, I'm currently at 77%. I'll take bulk over compromise all day.

I definitely agree, I had a 2750 battery for my Thunderbolt and that thing was a brick. But it gave me a solid 3-4 hours of screen on time and I made it 2 days without charging, awesome.
The only reason I am not jumping all over these monstrosities of the battery kingdom is because I just got my seidio ACTIVE case and I don't want to pretty much make it unusable
But anyways, thanks for the reviews. Insane screen on time with those things lol

Same here.. I had that battery for the tbolt and it was the same extended battery used in the rezound... The only thing was the rezound batteries were a red color. The Mugen backplate appears to go the entire length of the note 2 which I find to be a plus unlike the the tbolt one.

Not to jump all over your post, but you should check out ZeroLemon's battery and give that a whirl. It adds a lot of weight and does add some bulk, but rather than a backplate they give you a case to keep the battery in place. The battery they use is 9300mah and it is good quality. When not using my phone to often I can get 3-4 days of usage easy! It cost around 45$ with shipping on amazing and you get a case with it, totally worth it in my opinion

you can easily add NFC functionality to any of these. the batteries have nothing to do with it; it's the back covers. just take the NFC plate off your old back cover, glue it on the new one, then run copper tape between the contacts on the phone and the plate. takes less than 10 min

for the NFC? yeah you can you just have to run the tape over the side of it rather than the top since it extends up to the camera.
These are pics I took of the zerolemon with the wrapping removed. All the other extended batteries are just two normal sized ones stacked on top of each other. ZL ingeniously has three by having the normal battery that fits into the slot with two more turned 90 degrees on top.
It's no thicker than any other extended battery, it just utilizes that extra space between the normal battery and the camera so it doesn't look like your phone is pregnant with an s3 or something.

I bought couple of days zerolemon beast I tought it will be good for me NO IT WASNT , it was shame to me speak by this phone but from 3 years I was using phablets from note1-3 so I imagine it will be large cover but not as much as it is , after I get mugen - now I know how should look good stylish , slim , extended battery .
I live in polnad , I am not working for mugen . it is my personal impresions ! but I understand it can look as you think .
I'm interested in your results. The zero lemon is crazy big

This review really sucks..
I think you're trying to justify your purchase and don't want to feel guilty not to use a Zerolemon battery..
It may be true that it is a bit bigger than the mugen battery, but what the hell. You get a bigger battery + rugged case half a price
Mugens are way too expensive for what they are, expensive isn't always equal to quality.
And if you ask me, you won't be able to get double your stock stats with this battery. Even it is double the mAh

probably you are not wearin siuts day by day
you are not doing a bussines using your phone on some kind of apoinments
so you dont need to pay extra for slim ,superb shape , nice touch hard cover with enough needed juce for 1-2 extreme use .
but you have to understand there are some peple wchich pay attention to it.

This review is really embarrassing. At this capacity you can get an anker battery instead for less than half the price of Mugen. Comparing ZL with the Mugen is like comparing a nissian GTR (for ZL, massive power and bang for buck) vs a ford focus (for Mugen, overpriced and weak on power).
If you are really reviewing at least get the anker battery and do a comparison.

Take a look at this.. Looks suspiciously almost identical Mugen, I've got to admit. The Mugen backcover is way better that this one.. But you're paying 1/10 of the price =D
Also: I don't believe it is 8000 mAh. I think its something like 6400 just like the Mugen.
Don't you feel ripped off after seeing this?

yes, price is much higher than other
but I was paying for quality , I spent a lot of $ for note3 couse i bought it in first day of avialibity , almost 950$ so I can spend 98$ more for good looking case with fine build extd battery .
it is my personal opinion I dont wanna fight with somebody .
Why not just buy an inexpensive extra stock battery and keep that with you?
Unless you always use it up in half a day, then I guess this is good for you. Otherwise seems like making your phone bigger isn't any better then just pocketing a spare battery.
Some people want to let their phone fly off the handle and don't want/can't swap batteries. Mugen is a premium product and I will admit it is pricey but on the other hand I dont shop at Walmart so paying a small premium for something Mugen offers keeps a small business in business. And this definitely is one of their better packages. Some of the extended batteries and covers they've offered on other phones are hideous. If a single battery, plus OEM spare at arm's reach (which I haven't used yet) were not enough to meet my needs this mugen 6500 mah would be at the top of my list.
sent from my sm-9005.
The back cover looks really nice but there's no way I'd pay that much for that battery. I'm willing to bet the internals are exactly the same as the anker and hyperion alternatives.
How is the kickstand held in? Is it magnetic or by friction.
Thanks for your review and pics, I for one do appreciate it.

These photos are amazing! Thanks very much!
I like the backplate but that is way to much, even seidio doesn't charge a price that high, I guess if you want to keep your phone slim then this is for you but im happy with my zl battery and rugged case, for that price and what your getting you really cant argue.
