too bad its just luck i have tried the oc kernel and have also had freezes and reboots but never encountered this issue make sure u create a back in titanium backup before the format probably that will make the process shorter
Edit : you can wipe your dalvik cache even now it would just take a little longer to boot for the first time after the dalvik wipe but its harmless as far as i know but take precautions do a backup before trying anything. What it does , well am not a dev maybe an expert can answer this.

well all i would say is have a fresh clean install of CM7 and then when you restore your apps using titanium backup select app only would recommend not restoring the data as that most of the times gets the problems which were there when you did a backup. WSo in other words if u do a fresh install and then restore the data of all the apps its as good as it was earlier with the problems. However you can keep a track of apps like fb twitter whats app browser etc if some of these apps were working fine when you created a backup you can restore their data 1 by 1. Cheers tc

You renamed the backup , that's why it has a md5 mismatch .
Change the name back to the original one and you can restore .
CWM 5.0.2.6 is for CM7 , use CWM 4 instead .

But you can try installing CM7 again , but mount /system and /data .

after i partitione my sd card 512 mb by CW5 ... and did a factory reset the memory size of my 4 gb card still stucks at 3.1 gb....(after factory reset it should fall to original value).. i tried format on pc but it remained the same...
any link with the problem coz of this??? (i booted without sd and had no effect)...
also shall i mount /system and /data before installing the updates by CW5 ... (i respect you).. but i havent read this in any CW5 tutorial.9i dont mean disrespect here)...
shall i jump to a lower CW version ???? if so how??? and if not shall i flash the cyanogen 7.2 or better hand it to customer support????

why the hell you people do partitioning stuffs and backups if you dont know how to fix it and what are they meant.......
your pc as i can tell have windows install will not recognize ext3/4 partitions on sd card thats reason why its still 3.1gigs... to get that there is some tool
secondly you have no choice than flashing your firmware or doing some advance stuffs to make md5 match with the backup
my suggestion would be flash the firmware with odin and for your information you will loose all apps and all contacts/sms .... this would be good lesson to you before doing something wrong and knowing nothing of

Look, small advice, dont do things you dont know much about, right?
Right here, you just lost all your data because you tried to do things without doing a proper research.BTW,after you do a wipe, flash the rom, when you do a factory reset, your stock rom is gone,so your phone doesnt have anything to boot into...

I don't think you can really do anything...if you have backed up all of them with titanium backup you can just restore. But otherwise I guess you'll just have to install all of them again

i didnt fully understand your comment..what can i do again? i didnt backed up not with titanum and not with nandroid.. theres any thing i can do?
sorry theres nothing you can do. you should always create a backup once you are up and running stable otherwise, well, this type of thing might happen. you should try using CWM or another backup/recovery tool.
Well wanted to ask that after about 2-3 months of usage of my phone..trying out stuff..installing and deleting stuff..trynng out few roms/kernels, does the performance of the phone get affected ?
back to my original question, should i just perform a full wipe and reinstall rom and kernel? will i see any performance difference..just like after many months, we format our pc system and reinstall windows..
thanks

I find that if ur switching to a new base, ie 4.0.3 > 4.0.4 or uve been flashing lots of different roms etc doing all the wipes ensures a smooth install. So if u wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and format system in CWM u get rid of any leftover files, previous kernel tweaks etc u know ur good to go. As long as u backup ur launcher setup, sms (Using sms backup and restore), apps + data plus wifi access points in TB pro ur phone should be pretty much back to normal, only annoying thing is sorting out all the settings and the time it all takes
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Doing a full wipe always helps, and for backup and restore app i would recommend Go Backup. True, it has less options than Titanium, but it does back up sms, contacts, apps and more. All in 1 app and it's free. Give it a try
If your not moving to a diff ROM then I would rec just using cache cleaner from the play store. Keeps the fone running sweet!

A few days ago i put on Siyah neweset 5.0.1 kernel on my S2 and overclocked but my performance hasn't increased much so i'm gonna put Ressurection Remix ROM now but the first step on the guide says to format my phone and i hate loseing my things, is there anyway to keep my stuff on the new ROM D: ? I'm not sure what to do QQ i don't wanna screw this up, also i'm gonna make a few backups, cuz 1 isn't enough.
Over clocking doesn't increase performance per se.
You can use titanium backup to backup and restore your current apps. Use SMS backup+ for your texts and call lists.
Images, vids, music etc are unaffected by formatting via CWM.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
If you want to switch to another ROM, I guess it's best to backup all your apps via Titanium Backup. As far as I remember, the list displays white apps, red ones and green ones. The red ones are system apps and you should backup them since they differ from ROM to ROM. The white ones are apps which you have installed on your phone (via Google Play...). The green entries are things like "Messages" "Phone call history" and stuff like that.. I guess you can backup them too.
You won't loose your contacts as long as they are stored on your googlemail-account. So no need to safe them.
Then just backup your current ROM via ClockworkMod (I guess one backup is enough :b - If you want to be 100% sure try to backup and right after it finished try to restore the backup. If it works (in 99,9% of all cases) you can just flash your new ROM - if it didn't work try to backup+restore again. As soon as you've got a working backup (I guess the first backup will be OK), flash the new ROM and restore the needed apps via Titanium Backup again. (Just download Titanium Backup right after flashing RR and you will be able to restore every single app again).
More and more ROM devs advise not to restore apps via Titanium Backup, but it always worked fine for me
Hope I helped you,
experience7

What about something simple like "How to backup data before installing new rom?"
In any case you should have searched google or XDA first as there is plenty of topics on how to flash roms without losing data or how to backup all your apps/appdata etc.

I can't find the button to change tittle, it must be hidden under 3 layers of bedrock.
Anyway, i've been useing this rom since yesterday, it's awesome .. mostly
Some minor disadvantages, some things like Clock crash, won't update some things but that's normal.
My stock benchmark was 6800, now 6200 D:
Probably becouse the rom uses more RAM than stock.. Overall 8.7/10 <3
I'll keep testin.
EDIT: OH YEA! what were those "modems" it asked me when i was installing it?

I've tried several ROMs on my Neo MT15i, rooted, unlocked bootloader, alliance kernel 1.5, firmware .587. Now I'm on Thilinac Ice cream pureness 14 sp1. Everything is working well..... but... Every time I reboot the phone I MUST clean cache and Dalvik cache via CWM recovery. If I don't do it , after booting several apps go force closing in loop and the phone is unusable. I've had this problem also with other ROMs like Jelly-Sandwich, any release. Tried also to format sdcard without benefit.
Thank you for help

I do this every time I install new ROM
I've formatted system, data, cache, everything. Than reinstalled the ROM (Ice cream Pureness 14 sp1).
when booted I didn't reinstall anything from Titanium and tried a reboot......... As usual, Gmail and Google playstore
went FC loop. GMail and Playstore are apps coming with the ROM .... Than I rebooted in recovery, wipe cache and dalvik cache and .... all run perfectly and smooth... The problem is still there.
Next time I'll try formatting all, reflash firmware .587, and than reinstall ROM.
