Handcent by far, it's the best of the ones I've checked, it has a lot of great customizable options to change sounds, light notifications and images for background per person. Its very good im glad I downloaded and installed this one.

gosms is better than handcent but i hate the lags

[REQ] SE stock widgets on other launchers

This is not my first time asking this but I have had limited response so far.
(Mods if you feel this thread should be deleted because of that feel free)
I think many of us do like the freedom of using other launchers then the stock SE one, but many of the new widgets that came with 2.3.3 only work on the SE homescreen. The timescape widget being the main one, but now also the friends games, music and videos sharing etc...
I would like to request if anyone has any experience or knowledge in this could they have a look at the possibilty of making these widgets available on third party homescreens. I do not have a clue where to begin on this, except to ask for help....
Lets see what can be done...
Many thanks to anyone that tries to help on this.
Regards
Greg
Greg iv wanted that to happen for ages man =)

It's next to impossible, at least for most of the widgets.
If a widget is hardcoded to work on a specific launcher, only thing you could do (and might very well not even work in the first place)
is edit another launcher accordingly to accomodate it.
But that generally is inconvenient as 3rd party launchers available in the Market are updated often.
So, this is a no-go.

Kind of like Occam's Razor: simplest (or in this case, first) answer is the right one.
I was just making this thread when I the suggested threads list showed that it has already been made. Lol. And by who else but my friend Greg himself. Lol

I guess only the tinescape is problematic. Others do work on adw. I have tried.

I use spb, i would love timescape but also the photowidget, does that wrk on adw?
Nope. Actually timescaoe n photo widget are the apps that keep me from moving to other launchers. The spline like effect in both rocks.

Know anyone how to change the caller picture size? On my Neo is too small for that big screen. The apps from market don't work well with this. Maybe is there a seeting in program to change the picture size (the phone is rooted).
Thanks.

Easy one...Don´t use google contacts at all!
Keep your contacts on your phone and then you ´b be able to asign a big picture to your contacts.
Or keep using google contacts and make a duplicate phone contact with just the same name, add a picture to that one and join them.
That's what I've been doing anyways. They're saying google did something about that in ICS, one can keep hoping

(Q) Modded stock ICS sms app with emojis?

Hi guys.
I'm actually running ICS on my galaxy ace and it's damn cool. I use it all day long for texting. Before switching to ICS I was using GoSMS or Handcent. But the ICS sms app is sooooo smooth and so beautiful - really clear. The contact picture in the notification is a very good thing for me too. That's why I don't want to change for GoSMS or Handcent. But emojis are really cool too, and I'm searching if there's a way to implement them in a modded ICS sms app. It would be really cool.
Sorry guys if my question is dumb
Cheers from France.

That would be cool! I am pretty sure we don't currently have one of these, but it would be a great idea!

Some modders/devs should work on it. I think a lot of people would appreciate it and be thankful. I hope it will come some day!

[Q] Stock ICS MMS.apk?

I've flashed around a bit with different roms and as much as I enjoy touchwiz, I love the stock mms app that comes in AOKP/ vanilla android ICS and was just wondering if anyone had made any type of universal port for touchwiz roms that work just as smoothly? Saw a couple on the play store but they were total rubbish and full of bugs. gonna stay on AOKP in the meantime. Just curious if anyone else shared the thought

I did see that but I read the actual ability to receive and download MMS is broken in it. And I'm not knocking the Samsung mms, I just personally prefer the overall UI and feel of the stock 4.0 one. Sammys is great though.

Serendipity Rom has Samsung stock feel with aosp as well. I know he uses the mms /sms app in his Rom yer looking for.

That's the problem. Even if you get a compatible full asop mms, you have to keep the default samsung app. If you delete it, it will cause problems and FCs.

Thank you phalanx, I hadn't realized serendipity incorporated aosp apps into touchwiz. That does further spark my curiosity as to if It's possible to pull the AOSP mms app as a stand alone apk that I could keep and install no matter what ROM I switch to since serendipity makes it seem possible if I just disable the stock mms app.

Yer welcome and i wish it was that easy. But Im sure he had to do some work to get it to work properly. I would PM him and ask if he'd be willing to share some info with ya. He's a nice guy.

you could theme the Samsung mms.apk to look like the AOSP mms.apk if nothing else, if all you're looking for is the aesthetics of the AOSP mms.apk
Good point, jrod ! That's actually what i like about it is how it looks. I really kinda despise the stock Samsung sms app

How do you do this? I'm the same way as jrod. Love what TouchWiz offers aside from the messaging app. Favour the look of stock ICS one instead. (Because I like the pictures inside the message thread)

Simple way would be to change your pngs in your drawable-hdpi folder and change some xmls as well, not really all that difficult once you get started
Edit: sorry, completely forgot that Samsung's has text bubbles, so it would get a little trickier, I'll look into it
Edit: So, I've been real busy with school and stuff, so I haven't been able to look at the apk. Also, I don't have a Samsung Mms.apk since I like the AOSP feel of ICS better and have been on AOKP since it came out. So in trying to find a Samsung Mms.apk in our dev threads, I found that Serendipity 9 has an AOSP Mms.apk in it and is TW-based. It also has a lot of other AOSP apks in it, and it looks nice and runs pretty well. (flashed it to see everything first-hand). That might be an answer

[XP][JB] Any chance to change color theme for contacts, dialer and messages?

Hi
I really hate the white theme newly given to dialer, contacts and messages apps. Would it be possible to change the color scheme anyway. Or port these apps from another ROM (having dark and better looking UI) Thankyou in advance.
I tried some 3rd party dialers but dont like them either. Best I liked the builtin look from ICS 4.0.4.
Try in theames section. I guess dev's had ported it
Sent from my LT22i
So bad I had tried all another themes but all white dialer, SMS etc.
If you really want it badly, you could create the dark version yourself by editing res/drawable-hdpi
Sent from my LT22i using xda app-developers app
Too late Rolled back to ICS already but thanks for idea. MayB later I'll give it one more chance ***
