[Q] Bringback stock recovery - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

I flashed my recovery to CWM 4.0.0.9 and I want to bring back the stock recovery.
Can anyone know about this?

You need to flash your phone with a stock ROM in order to get back the stock recovery. Just make a backup with Titanium Backup Manager and flash using any of the tutorials available and you will get the stock recovery back.

[Q] Switching between version with ClockworkMod Recovery

I currently have stock GB version 2.3.5. I plan to flash CF-Root kernel with ClockworkMod Recovery and flash ICS. If I make backup of my current version will I be able to revert to it once I install ICS? Or will flashing ICS flash a kernel which is incompatible with GB?
Yes if i make a backup of 2.3.5 i can flash a ICS rom and from there even if i flash a custom recovery for ICS i can still restore my 2.3.5 backup its "universal"

So will I need to flash another recovery after flashing ICS or will ClockworkMod Recovery still be there?
Clockworkmod will still be there no matter what 2.3 or 4.0 rom you use just that every rom tend to have their own "themed" version of cwm. but they all still backup and restore the same way. Just a note, for the SII the recovery is part of the boot.img (had to get this in my head the first time as my old phone was different

I'm not 100% sure what that means so do I need to take some extra steps because of it?
Erm if you dont know what it means then its ok (it was meant for those that has prior experince)
Just to add, if you go stock using Odin, cwm won't be there until you flash cfroot or similar.
:highfive:

[Q][9100G] Cwm recovery

I installed cwm recovery(.zip) and I know that it is a temporary recovery which after reboot it reverts back to stock recovery. My question is I am ready to flash roms or I have to get a permanent recovery?

If you have CWM recovery then you are ready to start flashing new roms.
Please keep in mind that your phone must be rooted - This should already be done seeing as you have CWM recovery.
You already have CWM permenantly on your device since you rooted ur device with CF kernel and as long as you have superuser and cwm file on your device that means u are rooted
You can now start flashing any rom you want
You can delete ur CWM from ur device by flashing stock ics kernel throught odin

[Q] How to backup/extract stock recovery on Micromax A116

Before rooting and flashing CWM I want to backup stock recovery on my Micromax A116 so that I can flash it back if I need to give the phone to service center during warranty period. I could not find method for this neither on XDA nor on google. The method described in this post for any android device does not work for me. All google search results are about flashing stock recovery not about backing it up.
How can I backup my stock recovery? Is there any method for this before or after rooting the phone?
Do the stock ROM backup through CWM or ROM Manager includes stock recovery too, I mean if I root the phone, install CWM and backup stock ROM, in future is it possible to get back (flash) stock recovery from the stock ROM backup? Does restoring the stock ROM (backed up using CWM or ROM Manager) restore the stock recovery as well?
If not, then as a last resort, is the stock recovery for MMX A116 available for download to flash it after restoring stock ROM?

Even I haven't found a way to extract a recovery yet. If you're using the clockworkmod recovery, you have already replaced the stock recovery with the clockworkmod. so it's impossible to make a backup of stock recovery using clockworkmod. I tried extracting through ADB before and it just doesn't seem to work. But If you have the stock firmware (you should have one if you had flashed a firmware through sp flash tools), you'll find the stock recovery there.

Yes finally on not finding a way to backup stock recovery from phone itself, I flashed CWM recovery through Mobile Uncle Tools. I downloaded stock ROM from moulnisky.com, extracted recovery.img from it and flashed it using Mobile Uncle Tools. Stock recovery was back as usual. So finally I was able to confirm that there is an easy way to flash back stock recovery for warranty purpose.
not to worry

I want a CWM recovery.zip

Is there any CWM.zip for the galaxy s3 ??
I want to keep my stock recovery and use CWM abilities like backup
Can any one find a similar thing ??:fingers-crossed:
I mean that I want it to be like my galaxy mini GT-S5570I
I had a CWM recovery . zip
If I want to use it I go to my stock recovery and select " install update from sdcard" and choose the CWM recovery . That make me boot into CWM recovery mod

Stock recovery DOES NOT include flashing through zips so even if you in fact can flash stock recovery through CWM you CAN NOT flash CWM through stock one.
And to be honest I can't see any reason why you'd like to do so.

i don't think that is possible! how could you enter a custom recovery through a stock ones?!
Its called fake flash and was invented by koushik Dutta and Paul O'Brien. I used it on my HTC desire for a while. You essentially flashed it into memory and was gone on a reboot. This method is pretty old hat now. Im not convinced anyone uses this anymore. It's certainly not available on the S3.
Actually earlier rooting methods of desire gave you a leaked engineering version of the recovery that had no signature verification. That's the only reason it was possible

you could try something similiar, for example mobile odin, there you can flash update.zips and keep your stock recovery. (but it has no other cwm abilities)
or you use syah or googy-max kernel, where you can boot from stweaks into 2nd rom utilities which is a full working cwm and disappeares after reboot. there you can keep as well your stock recovery (but you have to flash a custom kernel )

Thanks. I guess that is the OP's solution then!
maybe anpother suggestion, which i often use could be the app online nandroid backup (its on the market), which can perform nandroid backups whithout going into recovery.
So there is no need of a custom recovery as long as you do not want to restore your backup.
and in combination with mobile odin you can flash update.zips. so the basic cwm abilities are covered (as long you have root)

Sadly didn't work, it says that my phone didn't pass the compability test so what's now? When i look for it on google play it says "your device isn't compatible with this version" but it installed succefully on my device running originally 2.3.6 with generic kitkat rom in 4.4.2 is there any method to do it in odin at least? Or custom kernel would be better? Answers will be appreciated.
No way to change it, also the risk is extreme i don't wanna brick my device, even i installed a custom kernel from odin, it showed "PASS" and my phone restarted and appeared the samsung logo later it turned off and restarted again and later the screen kept in white and i did need to get back to the old kernel
Anyway flash the stock recovery it's impossible to do.

You know that without cwm recovery u can't flash custom roms & kernals.
Pleas clear that which recovery u want stock recovery or cwm recovery?
And why?
Then I can easily guide or help u.
Best regards.
I want to change stock recovery to cwm recovery. I want cwm permanently no temporal, i know the zip file it's temporal but i want it permanent! I don't know how my phone did install "Compact" kernel with stock recovery and not with cwm i've had to do it that way 'cause odin didn't work and my phone got bricked
Can i install cwm permanent on samsung galaxy young duos? (S6102B)
I'll be very grateful if somebody could explain me!
The reason why i want cwm permanent and why i want it it's because i don't want to enter in recovery and see always the limited stock recovery with just 4 options
