[Q] Installed Vanilla Gingerbread jt1134 V.7 stuck at Rom Manager - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Before anyone flames me, I have been searching for a while (hours actually) for an answer as to why Rom Manager continues to have a "ROM Download Error" "Vanilla Gingerbread v7: Connection Timed Out" error and stops the download at step (B) of Step 11 of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1212239 ?? It's been doing this for hours now. I have 3g and wifi on.
So far, I seem to be okay up until that point, but I haven't opened TB to reinstall my apps and such yet because the step by step guide hadn't gotten to that point yet. I am COMPLETELY new to any Gingerbread roms, btw.
Am I okay if I just stop at the install of this ROM: full_fascinatemtd-ota-eng.jt1134-0829-v7 or do I need to continue? OR....can I just flash CyanogenMod's ROM the old fashion was though CWR and skip jt1134's Vanilla all together?
Also, it seems what I have already flashed is the Vanilla Gingerbread v7 reference this file again: full_fascinatemtd-ota-eng.jt1134-0829-v7), yet when I go to Step 11 of that thread it says to go to Download ROM in ROM Manager and then to jt1134. Well, when I hit the download it is trying to download "Vanilla Gingerbread v7". I'm so confused.
Thanks you all and sorry to be so ignorant. I'm still learning.

use section 3 of this guide below and ditch rom manager. Just replace cm7 with vgb7.

Can't Flash CM7 - Assert?

Hey Guys,
Coming off of Blackhole (Froyo) and CW Red I wanted to flash JT's CM7. I downloaded the ROM into the SD directory, wiped data/cachce/dalvik and tried to install the ROM. I got an assert error.
Tried to flash the recovery in that post and it didn't work either.
Then my phone bricked.
I went back in, ODIN to DL9, ODIN the CM7 recovery (but every time I swear it put my phone into a boot loop, so I used CWM-all), flashed an EXT4 formatter, tried again. Nothing.
I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, can someone please break this out into a step by step from the very beginning?
Thanks!
Well, I only do official CM7, I read something about "jt's cw7" / that's evil not going with official - if you decide to go official then I'll help, but don't know what an altered rom would do or act....

Michael,
When you say "official" what ROM are you referring to?

Help with samsun infuse 4g

I have a rooted samsung infuse 4g. I tried to follow the 3e video to get to clockwork mod recovery. When at the step to flash rom manager and reboot phone it reboots into recovery and bypasses the "check" and when i click "reinstall packages" i get the e: error about file no valid. I have tried to follow everything and do everything over again and still the same error. I don't know what I am supposed to do. I am so stuck with a rooted phone and no way to backup or put roms on without CWM.
It has been a day, I have viewed every possible thread on this topic I could find. I have no root problem, and no loading problems, only when I try to reinstall packages do I run into the e: error. I really dont want to go through odin if i dont need to.
I rooted with superone click, then put the modded 3e file in the system/bin directory, rebooted phone, and tried to reinstall packages but it doesn't work. I would love cwm on my phone so I could backup my stock rom. I have no way to backup currently.
Check out the super thread in the infuse section of the site. Huge how to section.

I got everything working now and have refuse 1.7 on my phone with a backup just incase. I want to know if I can use one of the roms that don't list as froyo? Will it just update me to the next update of 2.3 or does it ruin my phone because i am on 2.2.1?
So I finally got it all working, runny caty 1.5 rom right now. Seems pretty smooth. I can't wait to have ten posts so I can post about the bugs in the dev forum so they can be fixed in the nxt update. 2.3.6 is so smooth.

Can't install any application on my Vibrant

Hello, at the start i wanted to install some new ICS rom for my Vibrant..i try to root it with one click and i couldn't do that coz i had froyo(2.2update)..so i read some forums and found solution in odin...i used that to turn back to stock eclair where i rooted the phone ...but the problem is that now i can't install any application on the device(i need ROM manager)..i get to android market and ,click on application but nothing is happening, no download at all...than i try to use android injection with apks that i found on the net , but nothing, i always get INSTALL_FAILED_OLDER_SDK...so now i am stuck i have: fimware version-2.1 update 1,baseband T959UVJFD, kernel 2.6.29 can you tall me should i do?? thx
Read the guide in my signature on how to install ICS ROMs. It has an update.zip that you can use for CWR.
ROM manager no longer supports 2.1 (Eclair), so that is why you can't see it in the market.
Download the clockwork mod recovery file (update.zip) and save it to the internal storage on the phone. Then reboot into recovery and install packages. Might have to do it twice. Then you'll be in CWM recovery. Install from from there.

FWIW, and this is not a knock on Team Passion (they do excellent work but few updates), but Euphoria is somewhat outdated. There are plenty of ICS ROMs out there that are more up-to-date and when ICS went from 4.0.3 to 4.0.4 there were significant code changes that were done. I suggest ICZen, or Slim or CM9.
But if you want to stay on Euphoria (AOKP based), this is from my guide:
If you get the RANDOM OFFSET error.
Don't freak out. This is an ICS security feature (as posted in Passion's FAQ post). All you have to do is pull your battery and boot back into recovery and reflash ICS over itself (just like you did with the initial CM7 bootloop) and it should push through. You may need to do this multiple times. I have read of people having to do it up to 5x. YMMV though.

I suggest you Odin immediately. I fear that the next screen you will see is the Encryption Unsuccessful screen. Make sure you hit repartition in Odin though since you reformatted your system from RFS/Ext4 to MTD when you went to CM7.
odin
ok i get into odin , marked repartiton but is sais fail ??? what should i do now?

If you do get past all of these, but this is unlikely for a normal flash, get either Iczen or chimera.

[Q] ics for vibrant

Hello. I'm new here but, had an android for a couple years now. I have the tmobile samsung vibrant running 2.2 froyo. Can anyone tell me in detail how to install ICS on my phone? To be honest, I do not understand all the talk about odin and all that stuff. So if you can explain as if it were ICS for to Vibrant For Dummies that would be great lol. Explain in laymens terms please. Thanks
Peppino
Guess I'll post this again: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wMQQDpqVNBk
Everything in that video is not all correct. There are some specific parts that are left out.
OP, I understand you want to simplest way to go from 2.2 ->4.0 but in reality, you need to eventually know how to use Odin, or when you get stuck at a bootloop or your CWR gets corrupted, your next thread will be "Help, I brivked my phone".
Check my signature for the How to install ICS and above all, you need to read, read and then read some more (case in point, this was already answered here Trouble with my vibrant...).
Good luck and if you have any questions, use the search function and/or Google, as this phone has been around a long time and most questions have already been solved. If not, then just ask.
hi, It is always better to go ICS from the beginning.. which solves many problems. So in order to go back to stock you should use ODIN. It is very easy ONLY thing is DONT DISCONNECT USB connectivity while the process is running.
After that you will need some things.
ICS ROM to flash (try ICZen which works great )
GB Bootloader
CM7
update.zip (CWM) which can be found in woody's signature. [Installing ICS ROMs; A Vibrant Step-by-Step]
Once you are in stock 1st flash GB Bootloader through ODIN (DO NOT do anything until it is flashed)
then flash CM7 (GB ROM b/c its suggested to go ICS from GB rather than from 2.1)
then flash ICS ROM on top of it. initial boot will take up more time.
voilaa..!!!
Always do full wipe (data, cache, dalvik) in between flashes.
there are many ICS ROMs available .. READ instructions carefully.
Note: these steps are taken from threads I referred and followed by me.

You can give my guide a glance too. ( [Guide] How to install ICS **EVERYTHING you need to know how to install them** ) I would suggest reading the whole thing as there is quite a bot of really good information in there about several items of importance.
If you need any older files and such, they can be found in my Repo thread or N00B_IN_N33D's bible thread, both stickied in the Dev section.
