[Q] Public WiFi connection/usage problems on CM7 - TouchPad General

Hello, I apologize if this is a repeat issue...
I am having problem using WiFi at public places such as Starbucks or Coffee Bean with CM7 on my touchpad. I am able to detect and connect to "attwifi" but can't utilize the connection.
I understand there is a policy page I should be redirected to but I am not redirected there.
Strangely, I am able to connect and use WiFi when booted with WebOS.
Any help would be appreciated!

I had trouble connecting to wifi at a McDonalds a few days ago. I did see the permissions page when opening web. There is supposed to be a box next to "I accept the terms..." that you check to connect. Unfortunately the little box would not show. I ended up touching the spot where the box "should be" and a highlited box flashed but with no check mark. It was there but hidden for some odd reason. Anyways I got connected.

Did the browser automatically open for you? For me, from the settings screen, I click on the "attwifi" to connect and it says "connected" but nothing happens. No browser opens. I'm using Opera Mini.
Other than this issue.. loving the CM7 Touchpad!

Connection options won't show up in opera. Use the stock browser.

I'm having trouble with my wifi as well. Its been working for weeks since I got it but all of a sudden wifi won't pick up any networks. I ran the diagnostics and I get error 1000, wifi not enabled, even though it is.
This problem has been mentioned on other forums but no one has come up with a definitive fix. If anyone can, it would be someone on this forum.
Try forcing your router to "g" and setting the channel to something below 10 instead of "auto". I don't know about the TP but until recently the Transformer couldn't connect to channels over 12 and my TP does not like my mifi on "n"

Thanks for the suggestions, however, I'm not sure why changing the settings on my router will fix the problem because the Touchpad was connecting to the same router before. I used to be able to pick up my neighbors' wifi before as well but now the Touchpad doesn't pick up anything. It just stays on searching for access points.
Try webos doctor?

If you go to HP's website and have a chat with support, they are able to remotely reset the device! I had this same problem.

ICS and Openzone

Hi, I recently updated my phone to ICS and now I am having issues with BT Open one and Fon.
On this phone using GB I turned on my wifi, opened the browser (Dolphin HD) and it kicked me to the log in page whenever I was at work and it was fine. However now I don't get redirected. Instead I get 'webpage not available' in Dolphin, and a lengthy 'DNS lookup failed' message in Chrome. Stock browser is also displaying 'webpage not available'.
I am showing 3 or 4/4 bars on the wifi icon and in wireless settings it says BT Fon connected. But Openzone (which is the only other in range) does exactly the same thing.
I tried calling BT but they don't do tech support for specific devices. She did say, however, that the DNS needs to be set to automatic to redirect to the landing page. I'm not very good with networks and their features so I am stumped here.
I've tried to be as thorough as possible. Does anyone have any advice to point me in the right direction please?

[Q] Wifi connected, but no Internet access (won't work)

I have an Asus Slider Sl101. Around 3 days ago, our router had been changes as the previous one wasn't working properly. Our carrier is Charter and our router is Netgear. We hooked every device up to that new router and everything worked fine, including the tablet. But later on in the day,the Internet on there stopped working.
It shows that it's connected, but when I try to access the internet through the browser, it does not work. The blue line at the top of the browser starts up, moves forward a little, and stops entirely while the browser then says "Webpage Not Available". Apps that require Internet, such as Accuweather and my SAT apps, fail to work as well. Other devices that use our wifi include another computer and Nintendo DSi and 3DS. They all work fine. Our router shows that our android is connected to it, as well.
I've tried the static IP stuff, restarted the router, left the wifi off on the tablet for a few hours, and turned it off and off. I even factory resetted it and not even that helped.
I apologize in advance if I haven't given enough information; that's as much as I know save for whatever I can include from the tablet (IP Address and such).
Try changing encryption method

Have you tried to change the encryption method? Which are you using?

I'm sorry, but what is an encryption method?
Also, I just went to Starbucks and the Internet worked fine, so I know that it's not the tablet that giving problems.

It can be modified from the admin panel of your router. Obviously, each connected device must be upgraded to the new encryption method.
However, you can simply do a test and see if the connection works

Oh! Under "security", it says "WPA/WPA2 PSK". I believe it has always said that, even with our old router.

Probably
If the problem is not of the device, many network problems are usually caused by encryption or are due to the channel where the router works. Both settings are settable in the admin panel.
Try changing these.. Remember to make a backup first!

The things is, though, my tablet was working when we changed the router. Ever since then, nothing has changed when it comes to settings and all. Every other mobile device is working well and the computer out front that uses wifi works well.
In your eyes, the router seems to be the main problem, right? Do you think if we call our internet provider--Charter-- and ask for a new one that it might be able to work as it will be new and all? Or will it most likely not help too much?

If the problem is the settings of the router, this will not solve the problem..
The device successfully connects to other networks? You can do this test to see if the problem is the device or not.
hi sir i have already hack wifi paasword but not connected
password is correct sometime before i have connect
Is the router 2.4 or 5ghz, and is the tablet the same?

[Q] Wi-Fi problems

I am having trouble with authoricating Wi-Fi. When i connect to WiFi a website should pop up to allow me to login. However this is not happening. I had a Samsung note 2 and i had no problems at all. Is there some setting i need to use?
Not sure what you mean popup, I simply open the web browser and try to open any website, it will redirect to login page if it reqires login or accept something.
Ya thats the problem its not redirecting the web page. I am using chrome. I have tried setting chrome as the default browser but no luck with the web page being redirected
When that happens to me (e.g. at Starbucks, at McDonalds, any public place with WiFi, etc) .. I usually wait around for a little while and like every 20 seconds or so I try to navigate to google.ca... If done correctly the WiFi access page should appear. If it doesn`t work, try going to the WiFi settings and forget the network and reconnect to it. Once you connect to it wait like 20 seconds sometimes the pop up will happen right in the settings.
Thanks i'll give that a try. I know there's a bit of a problem with chrome and the default browser. Thanks for the help I'll let ya know

On my home network the Mate 2 does NOT do well on N. It runs fine on G. Perhaps that is part of the problem.
Very slow Wi-Fi
I am using my HAM2 without a SIM card, on wi-fi. It is way too slow and gets disconnected. Is this coz of no sim or is the phone by itself having an issue?. My other devices ( laptop, Nexus5, iphone6) are having a good signal strength and is pretty fast
Any advise to increase the wi-fi on this phone will be really helpful.

No public wifi connection

So guys,
I don't know if everyone knows "fon", but it is a global wifi conection.
It has a public wifi network and we have to login to it by browser.
The problem is that on the Oneplus X the login screen doesn't even appear. If i try automatic login by the app i lose the wifi connection.
Anyone has the same problem?
Any thoughts?
Cheers
I've tried wifi connections via Starbucks and Transit (MTA Wifi) as well as my school wifi and they all require opening a browser to login, They worked fine for me. But I can't seem to detect my Gym's wifi, idk if it's my phone thats not detecting it or that the wifi isn't even there since I didn't have a buddy to confirm whether or not it was available. But the other scenarios worked fine.

I have a similar issue.
My previous device was a Nexus 4, and I used to get a notification that prompted for a login when ever it connected to public wi-fi (was the wi-fi icon with an exclamation mark next to it). Didn't need to open a browser.
No it may be that was a stock Android feature, but it worked really well.
On my OPx I have to open a browser and type a url before it will redirect to me to any wi-fi login page. It doesn't work if I refresh an existing browser page - I just get a message saying it can't connect. During all of this however, the wi-fi icon shows the 'connected' state. It's the one thing that really annoys me about this device, but very few people seem to mention it.
Yes. I think it's strange. Maybe we are the only one that use public Wi-Fi?
I've got same problem. Very annoying. Considering that free hotspot in our town has such login (actually just form with single button to connect), SSID same all over town and it automatically connect as soon it see such network and losing sync/connection to all background applications like messengers.
I'm currently battling with OnePlus Support about this issue, they somehow not fully understand issue :crying:
Well, maybe they don't have hot-spots in China or something... But we don't see so many people saying that they have this problem.
That's why oneplus don't care about it also
Hi, i have the same problem with autentication web page. The phone connect to network but the autentication page don't work.
Yes that is the problem i was talking about!
But i don't care now, thanks to MasterAwesome.
Goodbye oxygen for ever!
