Sandisk 64GB micro SDXC cards - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Why hello there, gorgeous!
Just thought I'd let everyone know that yes, these cards do work in our phones (as proved here: http://androidforums.com/samsung-ga...micro-sdxc-cards-confirmed-working-sgsii.html).
So, enough with the "32GB cards work?" threads, just insert the 64GB micro SDXC card into your phone, and format it to FAT32, and voila! You have loads more storage.

That's crazy. They will eventually support up to 2TB of storage from what he said in the video.

My. GOD.
This is an atrocious amount of memory!

The price doesn't agree with my pocket though!

$177, that's pocket change. As long as your a Saudi Prince. If I needed that much space, would probably just buy two 32's.
I'm still waiting for class 10 32gigs to go below $40.

Wow, what ROM are they running in that video? That's a lot smoother/faster than any ROM I've ever seen.

Stick with one of the major brands and suppliers. Saw some post where some got really cheap ones and they were fake!

oh,i can't agree more.
as i bought a fake one last sunday.
totally no use.files i copied in mostly gone!
Yes suppliers are the most important part. I bought a "brand" but it was Counterfeit. I was able to get money back when I confronted the seller who feigned innocence but he was quick to refund
I got a class 4 32gb with a tiny usb adapter since all my card readers didn't handle the shdc cards. Now I have 5000 songs + backups and 2gb free.

I'll get that later on. I only bought a 16 GB for moderate use.
Good to know, thanks for sharing! I wonder if 64GB is the limit?
I bought a sandisk 64gb card a few days ago for my Note as well, dumped a lot of content on it.

I have 32GB now, Class 4. But does aok right now.
64gb Micro Sd
It will set you back $100-150 I'll keep my 32gb for now

Yeah, for "now" 32GB is perfect for me.
I mean right now I have all my music on Google Music, so that saves me approx 16GB of data, and I do have a few Media Hub movies, so 32GB is spacious right now.

Thanks, I had some customers that asked.
Yeah, I've never seen one under $120. Considering that's around three 32GB microSDHCs, I'm holding off--not that I have any trouble filling a 32GB card, but still.

That's the cheapest I have seen them thus far. Wonder how fast it'll be before it significantly drops in price. So far, the 32GB ones have dropped a fair amount in price.
I'm gonna upgrade to a 32GB one from 16GB once I purchase my Note.

International version was reported to support 128GB, but there isn't a microSD that size yet, so the test was done with a regular SD card and an adaptor:

Yeah 32GB are definitely at a good price point; I bought an excellent SanDisk class 4 from Newegg for $33, and could have saved a few bucks with a less reputable brand.
I haven't seen prices drop at all on microSDXC cards in the last four months. I'm not holding my breath at this point that they'll be priced competitively with smaller cards any time soon.

Have you ever seen anyone selling a 128GB microSDXC? I don't think there is any technological limitation of the phone that would prevent your phone from reading even larger cards, as long as you can format them with a supported filesystem, and the SDXC standard allows up to 2TB. The limitations are just based on what's available.

That's pretty cool, thanks for the link. I'm not quite brave/crazy enough to clear a space in the back of my phone to install a full-size SD card though.
I got the same 64gb sandisk microsdxc and it doesnt work for me...phone wont recognize it. It's formatted into FAT32 and my HTC Evo 4G and PC can see the card and read/write to it just fine.
What file system do you have on that card?
64GB was 100 at bestbuy but they sell out quick on the site.
You have to put it in the phone and format it in the phone itself

thanks! that helped. used PC app to delete the partitions on the card, put it back in the phone and then went to Settings-> Storage -> Format SDCard
Hope this experience saves time to others.
Note does not see sd card contents
Having a little trouble with the external card being seen by the Note. I have a samsung 32 GB, class 10. I have pics loaded, ringtones and apks on it. Pics and apks are in the root of the card. Ebooks are in a folder called ebooks. Ringtones are in a folder- Forget how labeled, but copied from my infuse card. They work correctly.
My app installer does not see the apks. Gallery does not see the pics, but the ringtones are selectable by the settings thru contacts or setting sounds. STock ebook reader does not see my ebooks that are in a folder "ebooks".
With the file explorer on the note was able to open the sd card and install the apks manually.
How do I get the note to see the stuff on the external card?

64G micro SD card for Galaxy Player?

Looks like there is a 64G micro SD by Sandisk. Will be good for my collections of lossless music.
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-Mobile-MicroSDXC-Memory-Adapter/dp/B005V7WIA2
Many claim that it works even on old Android devices. Just wonder if any Galaxy Player owners tried this yet?
Update:
Finally got one. Similar to the experience of other users, the player will think that the SD card is corrupted when mounted for the first time. Once you format it as instructed, it will work fine.
I have attached a couple of screenshots below for those who are interested. Two of the screenshots are benchmark of 64G Sandisk (Class 6) vs 32G Lexar (Class 10).

I think I read somewhere that the SDXC I cards are somewhat compatible with older devices but not fully. That "I" degignation is new and not supported by older SDHC devices. In older devices, the "I" cards would work at a slower speeds, I believe. In this case, Class 6... I think I have seen SDXC I cards being advertised as 50Mb/sec read speeds... at class 6, that would drop do avg. 6Mb/sec... so you loose the speed the "I" standard brings but the larger capacity always sounds good. In saying so, I have not tried these. I am however, very tempted...

I'd imagine it will work just fine. You just won't be able to take advantage of the "advanced speed" aspect.
If your interested in it, just purchase it with Paypal and return it if it doesn't work. I'd give it a try, but I'm fine with my 32GB + 16GB cards at this time.

That's a good news. I will probably take the plunge and report back. As for speed, class 6 should be sufficient for music storage. I used to use class 4 for that purpose, it was a bit pain to load the music onto it for the first time but playing music from it is not an issue.
Like Galaxy Player only supports 32Gb, sorry for my English
Works fine on my 5.0, formatted to FAT32, speeds around class 6 using r14 kernel on international
I am using one on the 5.0 U.S version.

Hi Ryzir.
I'd be interested if you could explain exactly what you did to make a 64GB microSD card work on a stock 4.0...?
I've tried formatting a 64GB Sandisk microSD card to FAT32 and my 4.0 doesn't recognise the card at all...
When I first inserted the card into the 4.0 it came up with some error (corruption?) and I selected format. Been working perfectly ever since.
I should note that I'm in the US. I believe there are slight differences between US and INT version.
Frustrating

I'm using what I think is the US version or at least with US language...still no joy. The card isn't recognised at all.
Unless you can offer more information looks like I'll have to continue without...or perhaps see if I can buy a UK based one....
The only other thing I can think of to suggest is to try and format with SD Formatter (Google it I can't post link yet)
FWIW I'm using SanDisk - Mobile Ultra 64GB microSDXC Class 6 Memory Card (Model: SDSDQY-064G-A11A)

:-( Unfortunately doesn't look like any kind of reformatting is going to make my Galaxy S Wifi 4.0 compatible with a 64GB microSD card...
Oh well I guess I'll have to way until they (or someone else) provides an alternative device with appropriate support.

Did you get the sandisk one mentioned above? And have you considered the possibility of a "bad out of box" situation? they can happen especially with electronics this small, I had a Kingston DDR laptop memory (best in the business IMHO) that was "bad out of box" so it is possible.

I did use a Sandisk card and I've managed to use it in another device (an Android tablet) without a problem.
I'm really very confused..I can only assume that I'd need to root my device perhaps...or...well I don't know. It's really very annoying and frustrating.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

I doubt rooting would make a difference, but at the same time there's no reason not to. (i had mine rooted within 6 hours of getting it out of the mailbox, and I had NEVER touched android before that moment) Maybe try rooting and flashing a popular custom ROM, Like Klins R5 and the Terrasilent kernel, at the very least doing the terrasillent (or any kernel available) along with rooting will give you the ability to use voodoo sound, and that alone is worth doing it for.
thats just weird, it reading in the other android means it should be good to go in the player.

Micro SD Card 400GB, will it work?

I want to change my 256GB MicroSD card to a 400GB one but my supplier says it won't work in the M5.
I don't think there is a reason why it shouldn't but has anyone tried a 400GB and can confirm it's working?
works fine in mine. i have never had an issue putting in a larger sd card no matter that the manufacturer said was compatible
It works..but without root it's totally unnecessary cause huawei doesn't allow "app2sd"
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m5/help/apps-to-sd-t3795227
i do have mine rooted. I never bother to move apps to the sd card. I do however keep a 100gb of music, tons of video, and like to keep twrp backups for a long time. So it is easy to run out space on a 256gb card.

You mean it's unnecessary for you.,,
Like the previous poster I also like to fill up my SD card with lots of music and other data for offline use.
My 256GB card only has 218GB usable storage when formatted with ext2FS instead of the expected 238GB.
Why is that?
Using this app I have been successful with moving q lot of apps so my SD card.

I have the Samsung brand card. You need to be careful buying no name cards especially on eBay. There are a lot of counterfeit ones out there that will read as the large advertise in your PC but are actually smaller ones.

All my tablets and phones are rooted, so I can't say 100%. ...but at least 99% sure it won't make a difference.
Usually vendors are listening supported sd cards available at the moment of the device release. Over the years, I'm using high capacity sd cards in many devices which are not supporting them officially. Never had an issue. Only couple of times had to format it in the device itself.

Ihave to buy microSD or sdxc?
I would say (maybe not completely correct) that microsd is describing physical format, sdxc or similar technical specifications, like speed. Sdxc should work. I can check later which type I have.
