I am hoping there are some people here who know about what brands/sites are good ones or trustworthy.
Ok, picking up my Evo 3D on Friday..... and surprise surprise, the phone isn't even out yet, yet there are a million different places with brands nobody has ever heard of with supposed cases for this phone, some of them even having dimensions smaller than the phone itself despite being listed as for the 3D.... (Yes I know, no need to tell me many manufacturers will take existing stock and claim it works for the new device just to sell it).
So the thing is, I have no idea what cases might be designed specifically for the HTC Evo 3D, or even any respectable sites to buy such cases from.
But I am also sorta over-complicating the issue by not being sure if I should first over a back cover for the phone or not. See, I am not a fan of the way the camerapod sticks out, I was wondering if there were any GOOD cases that add enough bulk to essentially make the cameras level with the rest of the phone, even if this will add thickness.
Something like this, but I don't know if this really is an official HTC product or not, and if there aren't better ones (or if that is a trustworthy site):
http://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=28040
And this brings me to my main concern. The main case I want to get is a belt-clip holster, not just a simple little clip that attaches the phone to your belt but basically a whole pouch to hold it, something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Horizontal-Leather-Magnetic-Closing/dp/B0051IGCAI
But on top of the problem I already mentioned of there being a million cases just simply calling themselves a HTC Evo 3D case... there is also the issue of how it will fit. Normally, I don't care if a case is a little too big for a phone since it will hold it anyway, but all of my previous phones didn't have sensitive parts like the camera sticking out so much before, if I were to get a case, id want one designed to hold the pushed-out camera in place too.... but that would only work if I decide not to get a case that ads bulk for the purpose of keeping the cameras flush with the back of the phone.... and if I do decide to go with a back-cover to add bulk, will those pouch-cases then even still hold the phone or will it then be too thick?
Sigh... I'm over-complicating things aren't I? So anyway, any ideas? Its a shame those back-covers that increase the size of the phone can't make use of that size, such as storing a slightly higher capacity battery or something.
That first one's badass. I wonder how much coverage you get on the front. I ordered two slide together ones (like the innocase surface, but a clone), and one super-silicone one. I like buying a bunch of different colored cases to shake things up every now and then.

post some links so we can see what they look like plz i still need case

This is the silicone one. Cheap and highly rated for other phones.

This is the snap together (innocase surface-esque) one. Might be sold out now.
where is the case with the kickstand?
I went yesterday to a sprint store and got me a otterbox commuter case. I love it. They had about 4 different kinds but none with a kickstand. They also had the car dock as well.
TPU case for me. Ordered a few weeks ago from ebay, $4 shipped.
picked up a chase from BB this morning belt clip
case 20
screen protector was free
Are there images of any of these cases?

but with out the kickstand
Picked up a Body Glove hard case when I picked my 3vo up this morning. Doesnt add too much bulk

I got the case that Best Buy sells with a kick stand. It's 2-piece, kickstand, soft-touch, protects well. Very streamline. It costs too much ($40.00) but I had some reward points and ended up getting it for free. Love it!
Hmph, just terrific. To complicate matters, that hardshell case I posted isn't even available until July 13 apparently.... and nobody is showing that it looks like from the front...
I guess I should just at the minimum get a belt-clip pouch for now. Does anyone know of any good horizontal ones that were specifically designed for the Evo 3D instead of just general cases that roughly fit a phone of that shape?
I got one of these cases and it's already broken where the clip doubles as a kickstand. Go to put the phone on my belt and the clip catches.. try to unclip and it breaks.. Not only that had the phone fall out of the case already once. I'm returning it.. How can I trust the rest of the case if the holster plastic is not unbreakable plastic? Probably made out of cheap China plastic!
So any recommendations for alternative cases I haven't had this case for more than a week and I'm returning this defective junk case to Radio Shack to get my money back for defective manufacturing!
Wow I have had my defender case since the day the Evo 3D has been released and I have had NO issues with it. That clip you are talking about doesn't work as well as a kick stand as laying the holder upside down on the "clip" that is normally on the top..
It is actually a very durable case and I work in a hostile environment so it would break if it was going to. You must have gotten a bad unit or using it wrong.
Rodney
Agreed. 5 EVO units later and returned my 3D case on the 2nd. Otterbox customer service is also shakey. Some reps are very helpful, others aren't. I will take my buisness otherplaces. Don't just recognize the problem, fix it!

I've also had mine since the day I bought my E3D. No problems here either and I do highway construction! I also have one for my Epic and original Evo. Hands down the best cases I've ever owned. Sorry to hear about your bad luck bro, try returning it for another one. On a side note, I'm on my 4th E3D because of dead pixels and light leakage......LOL!
Just email customer service that its broken and they will send you a new one.
don't forget to bring a towel!
I have one and love it! The case is freaking hard to take apart, i don't see how the phone would have fallen out... especially with the silicone around it too. Anyway, Ballistic has pics on their website and they say coming soon. Keep checking there, or give them your email and they will contact you when available. I had the HC on my Evo4G and LOVED it!!

We've known for a while that they are not going to release it =( I was looking forward to it back when I got my evo 3d too.
HTC confirms that official EVO 3D kickstand case will not be released
Yup, not gonna happen. Too bad, that's the best looking case for the 3D. HTC really screwed us on this one...

when I bought mine, I HAD to have a case; otherwise the phone wouldnt last 5 minutes lol..
Long story short; i bought the otter box; it came with a hard case to put the phone in, a rubber case to go around the hard shell, and a little 'clip in' style holster... i was kinda bummed it didnt have a kick stand like my HD2 did, however, when I started messing around with it, I folded the belt clip parallel with the case, and just sat the phone in it 'not snap it in' and its just like a kick stand!
if you need more elaboration, ill take a pic when I get home.
also, it has like 4 viewing angles... not clipped in, clipped it, holster clipped open-un clipped, and clipped out... if that makes any sense X_X
With the Defender the belt clip is made to function as a kickstand. Open all the way it locks in place and works perfect

Hi Gals and Guys,
I'm planning a car tour through the Alps this year.
Beside a GoPro HD Cam, I'd like to try to film some of the driving with my Evo3D in 3D.
Filming from within the windshield does not make sense as the reflections of the windshield would mess the result up.
Do you have any idea how to mount the Evo3D very safe outside of the car?
I'm thinking about some kind of magnetic tripods or something like that.
My problem is the holder itself.
Actually my planned solution is to take a Haicom Bike Mount and modify it a little to take place on a professional magnetic mount. But I'm not sure about the reliability.
I don't like to see my Evo3D flying, while taking a corner on a pass a little to sharp
Second Problem: I'm driving a Nissan 350z Roadster. The hood and trunk are made of alloy. So magnetic mounts could be a problem, too...
What would be your solution?
Best case scenario: Go with a GoPro 3D rig. I'm almost certain they don't make a mount, and you'll end up building one that may not work out with best results.
http://gopro.com/hd-hero-accessories/3d-hero-system/
Don't forget to put tape over the mic. It was hurtful on my ears for the first time playing it in the beginning.
The go pro is awesone, although you need 2 cameras and the 3d housing to shoot 3d. As for using the EVO, all the holders I've seen cover the camera lenses
I would use a ballistic case, then mod the holster to take some kind of mount.
One of those suction handles that glaziers use would give you something really solid without marking the paintwork. Like Here
Or for a cheaper option something like this would probably do the job, wouldn't look quite as cool though!
Take the belt clip off the holster and bolt it straight on to the handle.
The holster holds the phone screen inwards so wouldn't cover the lenses. You might need to use some duck tape or better yet a velcro strap just make sure phone doesn't come out, the added dust and bug protection wouldnt hurt either! Just a thought..

well im not sure if you had heard about the trident AMS case for the 3d, but you could check it out.
its a heavy duty case but has some pretty cool features behind it. there is a kickstand on the case but that kickstand can be interchangeable with some attachments like a bike raile clip and a tripod mount. now i was thinking that those two features combined with the duarability of the case you could def whip something up better than ducktape haha. here is the link to the site for the mods and the actual case website.

I haven't, but I literally just ordered that case today Haha. We'll see. Its cool because you can custom make it with the colors. The case has two levels to it which are both a case stand alone so you put them together. You can mix and match colors. check out the kraken thread in the accessories thread

something like these, then add one of those Grip mount to hold the phone

I've seen people attaching $6K DSLR camera on the outside of the car with something like this, a light weight phone won't be a problem, assuming you can figure out how to attach the Grip mount to the suction base via a socket or thread.

Well, I guess that would bring up the best quality.
But, to be honest: I get one GoPro borrowed and I don't think I'll need one on my own that often.
So I don't think it would make sense to buy a second one

Japp, that's what I think I'm going to make use of. I'll try to find a small version of these and attach a bike holder to that.
But I'll try to add some kind of rope or something, in case the suction gets loose while drifting or so.

Body Glove - Tactic Case for the HTC EVO 4G LTE
I saw 2 threads where people were going to try this case. If you purchased one would you recommend it? I did see them on ebay for $18.99 with free shipping.
I have a Body Glove for my Evo 4g and really like it.
I ordered one but it hasn't been released yet. They don't even have a picture posted on their site. I hope it lives up to expectations, as the pics I've seen are cool. Body Glove's cases are hit or miss, though.

Body glove has been a lot more miss than hit as of late for me tho. Anything from cheap cases that break after a couple days, scratching the phone, not fitting correctly or not locking and falling off to paint/clear coat rubbing off the first say.
Sadly, I wouldn't recommend body glove to anyone.

I will be interested in hearing your opinion about how well the buttons work with this case.

Got one with my phone Saturday. Fit is almost too good. Hard to remove without taking the plastic covers off the back with it. Also the cover scratches easy and is looking pretty old after just 4 days. I got the white one which was all they had available Saturday. Will be looking for a gel case soon. Buttons work alright though. No scratches on my phone from the case.

Thanks for that. I'm cancelling my order. Too much money to not be happy...
My Sprint store had the white ones on release day so I got one. Seems to work pretty good!
Sorry for the bump and double post, but I wanted to second that the body glove RIPS the top-back off of the phone when removed. Or it rips the bottom panel off the phone (worse!)
I like it, I just don't like removing it!
its really hard to take out and when you do it it will take your back cover out, i dont like this cover because it feels weak, i bought it @ sprint but already purchased a otterbox commuter to replace it,
I got this case at the Sprint store and have been pretty happy with it. The combination of the hard plastic outside and the silicone inside seems to offer a lot of protection, and there is a nice lip to protect the screen. All the holes seem to be in the right places and the buttons work well. The power button is a bit difficult to press, but I actually like this as it prevents it from being accidentally locked in my pocket (it only there were a way to disable the Sense ring lock).
It does make the phone noticeably bulkier, especially on the back where the case bulges out a bit (there is a 1mm gap between the phone and the case. Still, the overall package is no thicker than my naked HTC Hero. The added side thickness also means that the phone doesn't stand up as much when using the kickstand.
The store only had the white version, unfortunately, but since I was exchanging another case I didn't have much of a choice (it was that or the pink Otterbox Commuter).
I've removed it a couple of times and had no problems with the back cover coming off, but I was careful to follow the removal instructions (at least on the Sprint version, it comes with instructions telling you to remove it starting with the bottom corner next to the microphone, followed by the other bottom corner, following by sliding the top out). It fits the car dock well with the insert removed and with some minor adjustment of the foam pads.
I got the Body Glove from Sprint as well, and don't need it since I already had a case. It is the gray one. If anyone is interested in buying it at a discounted rate, it is never used and still has the original packaging. PM me if interested.

Seems like a lot of people missed this when I read reviews. I myself missed it initially.
http://www.shopandroid.com/body-glove-tactic-case/4A123A11576A.htm has the black version of the case for $17 today (7/19/2012) as their deal of the day.
Does anyone know if there is a holster out there that will work with the Body Glove Tactic case? I recently got a case and holster combo from my local Sprint store and I didn't check to see if the holster would work with the Car Dock Sprint sales and the case was too big to fit in the car dock even with the insert removed. The Body Glove Tactic case works great in the Car Dock, but I would really like to have a holster for it.
Thanks in advance.

this case broke my first htc evo 4g lte, its why i had to use my replacement, when i took the case off, it fit so tight, that it took the back off too, tearing the plastic......DO NOT BUY , BUYER BEWARE...spend the extra money and get a real case
I love mine. I love the grip on it. However, trying to remove it is a huge hassle and sometimes it breaks the case partially. Otherwise it's great for the grip. Feels good when I play the Pokemans on my EVO.

I have one of these on my phone. It does scratch quite easy and takes the back off when you pull it off, but it does not scratch the phone or trap dirt and dust. other than scratching up i dont mind the case. I would much rather have that happen to the case than my phone.
