[Q] What screen problem is this?? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

wow this forum is awesome (gotta put it out there). It shows me that there's not a thread similar to mine.
I notice a dead/stuck pixel on my screen only visible in gray.
I did the *#0*#. It does not show up in RED BLUE GREEN BLACK WHITE.
I tested it using all kinds of pictures
It will only show up in gray (as a light-blue dot)
I've tried all the pixel fixers on the market (except for Jscreen because that costs money). None worked.
After researched, I've found that OLED cannot have stuck. it's either dead or "missing" sub-colors????
Anyone can put in some advises on this?

Can you get warranty?

Waranty
Hi,
i think as pepemosca said - its best to thake the warranty.
Because this is a hardware bug (i think you tried the remove Battery thing didn't you ?)

hey guys, warranty is not an option. I bought this one from a local seller who purchased it from UK, I do not have his contact number. I mean beside warranty there's nothing else I can do with this weird issue?

Red Marks On Screen

for some reason my nexus one has a small red mark on the screen. The red mark only shows on a black wallpaper and not on any of the others i checked for dead pixels or stuck pixels there are none. I tried taking a photo and a screenshot to check if it will show on the picture and the result was negative it did not show.
Does anyone have any idea what this could be? after several days of searching the closest answer i could find to this problem is this thread here
Solutions i have tried so far are:
1) changing HBOOT from stock to custom and custom to stock
2) flashing different roms
3) factory reset
4) display checkers
5) photos and screenshots
any kind of help would be great
Well, if it doesn't show on a screenshot, you're looking at a low level hardware issue, or burn in on the display.
Either way, service center, as the previous poster said.
Alternatively, you could look in to replacing the screen itself (It's most likely the screen itself and not the graphics chip *most likely*) on your own, or through a third party.
If you're under warranty though, service center all the way.
thanks for your replies i will try to get my hands on another screen and see if the problem will be fixed

Stuck/Dead Pixel

Hey guys,
in the last couple of days I noticed that there are quite a few 30-50 dead or at least stuck pixels on my screen. It really bugs me, because I'm kind of a perfectionist. They are all in the same color. It's a light grey or white. Due to that they're only visible on black surfaces.
Is there anything I could do about this? I already tried to run a stuck pixel fixer, but nothing changed. Ran it about 10 hours. Is the warrenty covering this? My phone is unlocked btw.
Hope you guys can help me. Thank you!

Basicaly Yes, because you had more pixels than the minimum requirement for most of brand or trademark
but you must notice two thinks, first the phone must never to be drop or schoked or any trace about user damage.
Second one, Normaly the phone lost all waranty if you unlock it but normaly if you put the phone with the stock recovery , stock rom and lock again the bootloader, that should be ok for the technical support.
Same here matey, allot of dead pixels around the vertical edges of the phone. I had it checked out and people tell me it's dust. I did get a nod from HTC to send it in for repair. It's covered by warranty

I found this in a troubleshooting section of a different phone. I've also read people saying it was a charging problem. I don't understand it, but maybe try a different charger.
Part of screen unresponsive (dead spots)
1.If problems happen on the edge or corners of the screen, this is normal.
Note: Some manufacturers decrease the accuracy and sensitivity in corners to prevent unintentional touches caused while holding the phone. You can stop troubleshooting.
2.Rotate the phone so it changes to landscape orientation. Test the dead spot. •If the dead spot stays in the same location on teh physical screen, then perform a master reset wit hardware keys.
•If the dead spot moves as the graphics on screen move, then the issue is software. Continue troubleshooting.
3.If problems happen using specific apps:1.Clear the app cache and data.
2.Test the screen.
3.If problems continue, uninstall the apps (if not preloaded).
4.Check available memory
5.If memory is low, manage memory (RAM).
6.Test the screen.
7.If problems continue, wipe the cache partition.
8.Test the screen.
9.If the problem continues, perform a master reset with hardware keys.
10.Test the screen.
11.If the issue continues, contact manufacturer
Are you using factory firmware or aftermarket? Some roms with PIE have a tendency to make it feel like you have a dead spot.

Hey guy's,
Yeah My phone is rooted running the blackstar xi rom. I've tried all the tests you listed and it's a legitimate dead spot that won't go away. (stays in the same spot in portrait and landscape) I even tried a full wipe/factory reset and also tried running 2 other roms...and it's still their. I'm pretty sure it's a hardware problem. I was just wondering if there was any Calibration besides the gyration b.s.?
The lcd, digitizer, and glass cost $199 including labor from Samsung. Why not check with Samsung to see if they will warranty that screen?

This is a hardware issue that has been reported by several others too. You should have no trouble getting it repaired free of charge.
I have those too and the display have yellow stains all over too.
I kinda recognized them since the last Friday...either I did not realized it before (I need to check up my eyes..I guess) or they were not there before.
It is being sent back to Sony at this very moment.

Dead Pixel on screen

Hi guys,
Today during looking at facebook, I noticed a dead pixel on my screen.
Only one but still visible, it's a small grey dot on white background and other colors.
I restarted the phone and tested screen via service menu.
Does Sony accept this stuff to fix under warranty?
If yes, will it be free?

In general, warranty (of any manufacture) accept this only if it is more then 2.5% of screen area affected.
Since its only one dot, it will not be under warranty,
