I'd gone from stock to CM 7.1, but the issues there just bugged me too much.
When I *first* got the phone (a month or so ago), I'd used Odin to try to root it and botched something...not sure what. I dug around and found Heimdall, used the collection of files I found here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1026746) and got back to stock. Did the OTA updates, then installed CM 7.1.
Last night, I decided to try out some other ROMs (installed via CW 4.0.1). I downloaded Poolparty, Evil, and OMFGB. They all installed without issue and looked slick, but I found I wasn't getting texts...and when I sent texts, they were blank. I decided to use Heimdall again and revert back to stock.
This morning I tried installing the OTA updates again, but they kept failing. In my poking around, I found that the internal phone storage showed 0kb available.
I tried doing a factory reset, I tried wiping the cache, I tried everything I could think of, including re-flashing via Heimdall...nothing helped, I still had 0kb free space and am unable to install anything.
On a lark I decided to re-install the Evil ROM from CW again, and it went on smooth, but I'm back to square one, where I can't get texts and send blank ones. Looking at the internal phone storage space, however, it shows 1.47 GB free, which is more like what I'd expect.
I've tried using Odin at work today, but it's not seeing my phone. I suspect the cable I've got may be the issue with Odin (which is odd, given that Heimdall works great), so I'll try that again when I get home.
Does anyone have any ideas about:
1.) Why the stock install thinks there's no storage space on the internal storage, and how I can fix that, and
2.) Are there any suggestions as to what radio and modem I should flash for Evil? I saw suggestions elsewhere on the web that the inability to receive texts and sending blank ones was due to not having the correct modem and/or radio.
Odin worked
I was able to update the modem via Odin once I got home. Being the tinkerer I am, I re-flashed back to stock using Heimdall and saw the appropriate amount of internal storage space.
Weird.
hi bigjuan
did you problem of 0kb solved or i do have a solution for that. i too faced this issue earlier

Hi Guys,
I think the internal memory of my wifes phone is dead. Her phone all of the sudden turned off, then it was stuck in a bootloop. I tried to play back a nandroid backup but I always got an error message that the data partition was not being wiped... I used Odin then to flash back to stock and do a repartitioning of the phone. Odin works fine, then the phone reboots trying to apply the new rom, but it stops, telling me that the data partition again could not be formatted.
Is the nand-flash broken or is there a way to make it work? I can only use the download mode now, or use the regular 2e recovery... any tips are highly appreciated.
With the influx if new inexperienced vibe users I must ask, does your device have a stock front facing camera?
Paranoid, sitting in a deep sweat...
Lol,
no it does not, it is really the Vibrant T959 not the V not anything else. I am used to flash custom roms. It happened before, even playing Nandroid backups back, most of the time I had to do it twice, since data partition could not be mounted... 2nd try always worked and that was only for this specific phone. I simply guess the flash memory is corrupt...
We've seen some of this.. what rom was she on that fc'd and what rewrite odin files are you flashing? Are you familiar with the encryption Bug?
She was using the Passion Rom, v13.1 with Touchkernel 8.2 and the data.fix.
The phone had this problem like 3 times already. It simply shuts down, when you turn it back on, bootloop. Only thing that helped was playing a nandroid backup back. When doing this, nandroid already had problems mounting the data partition, so I had to flash it twice to go through.
This time, the 3rd time, the phone told me about a failed data encryption... this time, no nandroid backup is working, due to failing data partition.
When I Odin back to Elcair, I use the PIT file that comes with the AIO Toolbox and the Elcair Rom for Odin. I set the phone into download mode, Odin gets a connection to my phone. Then i select the PIT and PDA files, enable re-partition,autoreboot and F.reset time. I flash, everything works fine, Odin is done, the phone reboots, but then I get the red error message telling me that formatting the data partition did not work.
I did read about that ICS bug and about the workaround, but this kinda only works if you still have a working phone? Or did I get something wrong?
Yep. Sounds like EU bug. You'll find lots of info on that and things to try to get around it.
I'd go to Google and type in: XDA Samsung Vibrant encryption Unsuccessful and see what it brings up.
Happy trails and good luck!
Not sure if it is EU, sounds similar. Hers the work around guide

Paranoid, sitting in a deep sweat...
So it started when I wanted to do a factory reset. I was running 4.1.2 stock and the phone has never been rooted or modified. For some reason, no matter what i tried i could not get the phone into recovery mode. I tried every button combination and watched every youtube video, no luck. Download mode was working though.
So i gave up and just did the reset from within the OS settings. After this was done i was curious to see if the recovery mode would work, still no luck. I think it's important to have that working in case you have trouble with your phone so i felt the need to resolve this. I also thought it would be cool to root my phone so i planned to flash a new kernel which would also rewrite the recovery mode, root the phone, and leave the stock rom.
By this time i had added some of the apps back to my phone that were wiped during the factory reset, most of which i put on my sandisk sd card. I first tried flashing a no frills kernel called Jeboo using heimdall on my mac. It worked fine but still no luck getting to recovery mode. The phone looked like it was trying. After the appropriate button combo the screen would would keep flashing a faint grey but never load to recovery.
Also, after i flashed this kernel i noticed that all the apps i downloaded to my sd card were gone. Only a transparent image with a little "sd" icon remained and when i clicked on one it would say the app was not installed. Not sure why a kernel would affect this since i didn't change the rom.
Anyhow, i was still focused on getting recovery mode working so that i could finally root my phone. I tried another kernel called speedmod.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2140192
Good news it worked and i was finally able to get to recovery mode which was now run by CWM. Finished rooting,
As far as the apps go i was able to re-download all the apps that disappeared from my sd card. The weird thing is, there were a couple of apps i notice so far that were not on my sd card that disappeared completely. Season zen hd and betterbatterystats. The problem is when i re-download these ones it says "cannot install to usb or sd card" I tried wiping dalvik and cache partition with no change.
The question is:
Why would apps get wiped from a kernel update? As i will likely update kernels in the future is this going to be a constant issue?
Why can't a reinstall a few of the apps?
I flashed one Recovery, then flashed a newer version. When I installed a Rom, it couldn't find my internal SD card. It said it was there, but everything was installed to the external and the cameras wouldn't start because they couldn't find the internal...Very strange. I tried various things (Installing new Recovery, but it wouldn't flash, mounting and unmounting, but got error on sd card mount) and nothing worked. So I figured I would do a factory reset and it just boots to the Recovery...weird...
I'm going to flash an RUU and see if going back to stock helps, but I would appreciate hearing if anyone else has ever had this problem...
I searched and found nothing in the Rezound Thread. XDA offered suggestions but they were all from other devices, mostly Samsung and those folks seemed to assume device failure, and it may be that, but the device seems to be working, it's just the internal that's having issues...
Any thoughts?
EDIT: I flashed the latest RUU in HBOOT and all is back to normal!
If you had just installed the stock recovery it would have allowed you to do what you wanted it to.

A week ago I was getting ready to do a nandroid backup before flashing a new ROM. When I tried backing up, it said that I didn't have enough storage. When I went to look at what was being backed up, I saw that the /data partition was 40 terabytes in size. I reformatted everything and flashed a new ROM and started having problems trying to enter a new APN (I'm on AT&T with Verizon Note 2). Eventually I ODIN'd back to stock 4.1.2 and then re-unlocked the bootloader. I reflashed TWRP and saw that /data was back to normal. Then I flashed a new ROM and encountered this.

I tried a few different ROMs and the problem persists, and I can't enter new APNs which is rather inconvenient for the times when I need use the phone part of the device. Anyone have any ideas what is going on with the internal storage? Perhaps the NAND has gone bad? Any information or insight into this would be greatly appreciated.
It's quite a long story, but I'll try to keep it short, yet detailed.
I rooted my Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGH-T999) about two weeks ago. I made sure to practice the rooting process and read up on the dos' and don't-s' when it comes to rooting and installing custom Roms. A week ago I installed a custom Rom from Aokp known as "AICP (Android Ice Cold Project)." Everything was going good till yesterday when I saw that I was having some memory issues. My internal memory was quite full and I realized and understood that when I wipe--factor reset--my phone, that there is still some data that is left over. Now before I installed AICP I made a backup of the S3 stock Rom. When I seen that the internal memory was getting full I formatted the internal-SD in recovery mode (forgetting that the S3 backup was in it). I decided to, after formatting the internal-SD, try some new Roms. I followed the flashing instructions carefully as always. I went back to AICP and put the phone down for a bit. When I came back to use it, it was frozen. So I restated the phone and then I began getting a message that stated that "Unfortunately, the com.android.systemui (something regarding the task/notification bar) has stopped." I pressed okay but it kept popping up, and the home screen kept flashing. I could move around but only for 1sec before the message popped up. And when I cut the screen off it just froze. I did a factory reset, it didn't work; I reinstalled the Rom and other Roms, didn't work; I couldn't clear the system ui because the Roms didn't allow it. I've Youtubed and read everything, nothing. So I re-rooted my phone, didn't work. Now here is where the problem is. When I re-rooted my phone, it booted to AICP but the message still popped up. I tried to reinstall the Rom but it aborted the installation. I tried to install other Roms, same thing. Now the phone will only boot Recovery Mode and nothing else. I've been trying to flash the S3 4.3 Jelly Bean Stock Rom via Odin, but every website I go to ether doesn't have the file or it won't let me download the file. Now I did get one S3 Stock Rom, but I can't get the file to unzip . Does anyone have a solution to this weird problem... X( BECAUSE I CAN'T ANSWER THE PHONE IF MY GIRLFRIEND CALLS!!!!

1. Flash this file: http://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/d2tmo/philz_touch_6.15.4-d2tmo.tar.md5 in odin3.09, uncheck autoreboot.
2. go to your recovery, select clean to install a new rom
3. download latest firmware (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/3/?download=26636) and install it in Odin3.09
4. reboot your phone.
See I figured that's what I needed to do. Just couldn't find a Rom to flash with Odin. I'll use this method right now.
Here's one of the problems I was having when it came to Odin and the Firmware. The website, "Sammobile," you sent me was one of the websites that I had the files I need, but the link you sent me to, which is the file I downloaded, didn't show up when I clicked AP/PDA in Odin and tried to mouth it. The .zip didn't show up and when I tried to unzip the T999UVUENC2 file, it stopped at
%63 and says:
! Read error in the file C:\Users\Mrs Woods\Downloads\T999UVUENC2_T999TMBENC2_TMB.zip
Data error (cyclic redundancy check).
! Not enough memory
What should I do?
