Best GPS kernel for MIUI? - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have recently switched over to the Miui roms and they are amazing in almost every aspect. The only thing that I have been having issues with is the GPS. Can anyone direct me to the best kernel for GPS on miui roms?
Thanks.

i use this rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123922
but before using navigation this is recommend
1) download fasterfix from market and choose your respective region
2) restart the phone
3) open angry gps and do ttff test...
should get a lock on ur gps...try these steps on ur current rom before you download from the link i gave you
note: if you already have ran the angry gps then make sure to click on "delete gps data" before clicking on ttff test....
good luck...

[ROM] SuperAosp from [email protected] & tolemaC

Special thanks to the creator of the item inexus from which inspired me to give a graphic touch to the rom.
This rom (not a mod) has been developed entirely from the source of Google and very little of Cyanogen framework.
Thanks to Cyanogen and all his staff for the contributions received.
Is installed from the recovery, as always, do not worry if it takes a while to leave the first splash is entirely normal and configuration files running on first boot.
I strongly recommend formatting SDCARD total with three partitions, SDCARD 7.4 GB / EXT3 512MB / LinuxSwap 64MB, you can do from the recovery, but remember to keep you before your pictures and music. This is because directories are created in the sdcard called Android which are recorded in the data I have found to negatively affect the rom. PROVEN!,
This is only necessary in case you want to have Apps2sd or Linux Swap, if not going to do any of those things is not necessary to format the Sdcard with three partitions.
WARNING!
Only if you come from different roms (Donut, Eclair, Froyo) is necessary to WIPE, when coding in Gingerbread from this rom will not need to wipe again to install later roms.
This rom installs itself alone, that is completely reconfigures.
Before installing the rom Wipe recommend because it has many changes. When installed and out of recovery by restarting leave untouched while the LED flashes. At this point I recommend you salteis the account settings to skip giving google and once in the launcher and set podreis rom to your liking. This is because otherwise the phone will Autoconnect the market and begin to automatically download all the applications you had installed and it saturates the terminal because it does hit, besides putting the background image that you had prior to the rom and then you ask me that as it is possible that if I install the rom to wipe the bottom appears to me that I had before. In this way you will do a clean install. Then you enter the market and instalais a free application to refresh anyone that you have installed in the terminal.
Very attentive to you to do restorations of any kind against the rom or program that you can have problems. (I mean backups, including their own SupSetup least in the section on applications), special attention to restore configuration data of any kind. Under the best not to doubt.
SupSetup new V16 in all roms, not serve any previous SupSetup for this rom
The new integrated SupSetup activation brings on-demand applications in the applications section extras, you can enable applications that interest you as the Roma comes in "Lite" (without extra applications installed) so that everyone can choose the best configuration.
It is important before you set up Google account to be activated from applications before SupSetup so that when you connect to the servers to configure your Google account, they enter the downloads section.
After entering the market and to display applications install any application downloads for cool downloads.
Apps2sd
Apps2sd is to pass the phone applications both current and future to the ext3 partition, it is imperative not to activate any way to move application to the sd or change from internal to external location application. Simply activate it from the SupSetup without touching any configuration in the Spare Parts or applications from the rom settings.
Apps2sd not activate without at least once you have restarted
General
- Rom in "LITE"

Applications
- You can install more from the extra applications SupSetup
- Google Apps

Do you mean the theme chooser that's been added specifically to CM and not part of AOSP?
Oops In the version he made before this 2.6.8 he had it so I figured he would keep it. Never mind

I seem to be having issues with the A2SD. Apps such as Angry Birds won't install, and also, sometimes after rebooting, none of my apps are there.
Anybody else?
Any idea about battery life? Can i flash Wildmonk or IR kernel along with this rom?

Aosp rom help thread

**Currently this only supports CM7, but I am hoping to also include OMFGB and LTB soon**
Also, I realize this is poorly formatted.. I'm on my phone so until I can get to a comp I will try my best to make it less ugly
Credit also to Minazaki for helping mme consolidate these
CM7 for Thunderbolt Current Version: RC1.2 (Separate MR1 and MR2 versions) Merged to Mainline: No Wipe Required: Yes (Coming from ALL other ROMs, including previous versions of CM7. If you did not do a full wipe and are having problems, re-install after a full wipe before anything else.)

CM7 as it is is built off of and tested on basebands 1.16.00.0223r and 1.16.00.0402w_1. I personally have reliable data on the former, but recently few have posted that the latter retains 4G after a reboot. Get your radios below. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php? t=1045081 **As of RC 1.1, there are two separate builds, for those of us that want to use MR2/MR2.5, and those of us that wish to stay stock. YMMV.
Where can I find GAPPS? I’ve been using the same GAPPS for every release, Lithid’s 5/04 GAPPS, which can be found here: http://www.mediafire.com/?p05q54839gjzt
Note: don’t download the larger file, it’s not for our phones
6/13 GAPPS, heard they didn't have gtalk with video, but they're newer if you're into that
http://goo-inside.me/gapps//gapps-gb...613-signed.zip
This GAPPS includes Gtalk with video, while the 6/13 GAPPS in Rom Manager does not.
GPS:
1. From your CM7 rom, boot into Clockwork Recovery. 2. Back up your CM7, and wipe data/cache as well as Dalvik. 3. Flash a Sense based rom. 4. Boot into Sense based rom. 5. Turn GPS on in Sense based rom. 6. From the market, download GPS Status & Toolbox (free, unless you’re in a giving mood) 7. Open GPS Status & Toolbox, hit menu, then tools. 8. Hit “Manage A-GPS state” 9. Hit “Reset” 10. Go back to tools, and “Manage A-GPS state”, and select download. 11. Go outside, or near a window and point your phone to the sky. There will be two numbers near the bottom right of the compass denoting how many Satellites you’ve found and how many fixes you have. (I usually get 8-11 fixes on 8-11 satellites but it should work with less fixes and satellites) 12. Straight from this screen (if you have the power menus), reboot into recovery leaving GPS on. 13. In recovery, wipe data/cache as well as Dalvik. 14. Restore your CM7 backup, and you should now have GPS
Problem: Non-GPS geolocation is (very) inaccurate Solution: (Thanks Wraithdu!)
The inaccurate non-GPS location can be fixed by turning on WiFi (does not need to be connected, just ON). Obviously a temporary fix, but works for me - I can get location now in Beautiful Widgets, SiMi Clock, The Weather Channel, and the browser. I increased my WiFi scan interval to 3 minutes to try and help battery. But it beats getting the weather for Guam.
Problem: I just installed CM7, where is the Market?! Solution: Not a problem, you just have to install gapps. Easiest way is to download and install through ROM Manager: Rom Manager -> Download ROM -> Google Apps.

Where can I get kernels for CM7? You have a few choices: The stock kernel which has been reported to work very nicely. Imoseyon’s kernels http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php? t=1086518 Kernels by Utkanos http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php? t=1025199 Drod’s kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php? t=1050139 Nerozehl's kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php? t=1099996
Kernel modding Script by TwistedUmbrella! This is (from what I know), a mod that will add more customization to your kernels through speedtweak.sh, such as setting your own clock speeds and voltages (advanced) http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php? t=1092128
Vipermod Undervolting http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...light=vipermod
Why do I have worse signal on CM7 than I do on Sense-based roms? In short, you don't. AOSP roms usually reflect your DATA signal, not your signal in DBM which is your voice signal. If this really upsets you, some themes make it look like you have more bars
In Call Volume Fix (ALL RC's)
This was originally released for RC .4, and some say it is not needed on RC .6, but here it is if you’re still on .4, or maybe still aren’t experiencing adequate volume on RC .6. http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php? t=1121517**This has since been updated to work on ALL releases currently available.
Phone not ringing when called: While there are no *definitive* fixes for this, there are two things that people have reported as working.. 1. If you have Google Voice tied to your mobile phone, delete your mobile phone number from the GV website, and then re-add it. 2. Go to Settings > Profiles > Manage App Groups > and delete the Phone(or dialer, not sure which it is) from the application groups window.
4G does not stick:
I recommend MrB’s method of getting 4G to stick if you’re having problems. I can’t find the thread right now, but since I’ve done it so many times here is the process:
1. Go to Wireless and set yourself to CDMA/EVDO auto. 2. Wait for a solid 3G connection. 3. Switch your radios to CDMA/EVDO + LTE auto. (Even if you don’t get signal, it’s ok) 4. Open up Rom Manager, and select Fix Permissions. 5. Let the phone do its thing, you’re free to go make a sandwich (this takes considerably less time on a fresh install due to the lack of apps) 6. Once Fix Permissions is finished, GO BACK TO THE WIRELESS SETTINGS, and turn your radio back to CDMA/EVDO auto. 7. Reboot. 8. Wait for solid 3G to pick up on the fresh boot, then change your radios back to CDMA/EVDO + LTE auto.
Note: This won’t work for everyone, I have seen plenty examples of it not working, but I have also seen plenty examples of it working as well. I do this everytime I flash a RC, and the only time I lose 4G is after a reboot.
Trouble getting 4G/keeping 4G? (cont.) Simple fix if you're having trouble getting and keeping 4G, don't forget to try formatting your /system in CWM. (You'll have to reinstall the rom, so only do this as a last resort). It's under Mounts and Storage.
Sound only coming out of ONE headphone/Sound is mono: I haven’t seen this pop up too recently, so I’m assuming it is fixed but most people have noted that if they start having this problem a reboot usually fixes it. IF NOT, open your voice search app (doesn't hurt to place a search), and then your sound should work

Possible fix for ringtones playing once.. for the brave, thanks Szale9001!
I wanted to share, however, that I may have found out a potential fix for the "only one Ring during phone calls" issue. First I followed the first post steps and deleted the Dialer app from the Profile settings, but that didn't work for me (I do not use google voice so step 1 was irrelevant for me). Through some research I came across this post: http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod...detail?id=3653 It basically states that only some of the ringers in CM7 have an "ANDROID_LOOP=true" line in the metadata of the ogg file. It gives instructions on what to do to add this line to all oggs at once. To summarize, I used my ubuntu laptop with adb and the vorbis-tools package installed, to adb pull my chosen ringtone. I then typed the following in the terminal: $ vorbiscomment -a -t "ANDROID_LOOP=true" myringtone.ogg Afterward I mounted the /system partition as R/W and pushed my ringtone back to the phone. It seemed (I rebooted to make sure and further tested other ringtones) that once I completed these steps my ringtone would repeat as long as the phone was ringing and until I answered or ignored. Just wanted someone to know, might help some people. Also maybe if slayher or one of the maintainers gets wind they may be able to do this to all ringtones for the next release (assuming my solution works lol). http://code.google.com/p/cyanogenmod...detail?id=3653
Problem: Included wireless tethering not working Solution: From what I've seen, you will be able to connect to the wireless network, but you will not be able to obtain an IP address. I have found that forcing an IP release/renew upon connecting generally takes care of this problem. On Windows, this can be done with the following: 1. Start -> Run -> "cmd" 2. ipconfig /release 3. ipconfig /renew

[Q] GPS issues LTBv2.3 + MR2.5

Can't seem to get GPS to function with LTBv2.3 & MR2.5 radio.
I've followed the directions from the following thread to a tee and get the same results.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9576852&postcount=108
... yes I've verified the removal of the entry mentioned in the db.
Haven't been able to find much else to try out.
Try this:
1) Download GPS Status from the market
2) Run GPS Status hit Menu > Tools > Manage A-GPS State > Download
3) Wait for it to download and for the GPS Status to get a lock (The bottom portion of the screen will fill up with tons of information)
4) Go to Manage Applications > Maps > Clear Data
5) Go to Maps again and see if you get a better lock.
For best results do all of these steps outside.
Used to fix issues back when everyone was on Froyo
Folks were using the same fix as cm7, create a nandroid backup, flash sense rom of your choice, get GPS lock, boot into recovery, restrore previous nandroid backup.
Thunderbolt CM7 Kang Bang
Tried GPS Status. The GPS receiver is apparently working, however maps is not able to find my location. So I've at least established that my GPS _is_ working; maps is just unable to use it for whatever reason.
I've tried a fresh wipe as suggested with the same results.
Was incorrect, there is no GPS lock at all. I've installed GPSFix and GPS Essentials and both indicate the device is not finding any satellites.
I know everything works with Froyo, but I'm enjoying Gingerbread and would love to be able to stay with it. Any other ideas floating out there?
I Fixed it. Installed OMFGB & used GPSFix and it was able to get a lock. I installed LTB over without wiping and everything functioned correctly.
With any of the LTB installs I tried using MR2 and MR2.5 I was unable to get a lock using the GPSFix tool. Probably just an odd quirk. Either way, GPSFix seemed to do the best job out of all the available options I tried for Gingerbread.

[Q] Location Services problem

Not sure if its the right place to post (forgive me it's my 1st post)
I'm currently running '1ceCream Flavour (Beast)' ROM. (Brilliant ROM btw. I've used Elelinux, Ligux, and HTX MIUI also, so props to those ROM authors)
I'm not sure if it's related to the ROM itself, but I can't get it Fancy Widgets and Genie (News and Weather) Widget to use my location. As far as I am aware it worked for most the day. Location via GPS works but not thoroughly tested to confirm that. However Location via Wireless/Network doesn't seem to work. The Apps fail to find them. I am pretty much sure it's the same across all Location based Apps. (The location services work under the other ROMs, although HTX MIUI had a similar issue)
I've tried reflashing/wiping..formatting SD card/SD EXT etc. Stopping google framework and clearing cache for that and market.
flashed the v1.1 of 1ceCream Flavour to see if it solves it. after making sure everything is wiped. still the same.
Any ideas??
BTW I can't post in the Dev Section because I don't have 10posts count yet so that's why I'm here
have you authorised it in the settings?
(sometimes the answer is quite simple you know...)
Probably was a Gapps issue or Location Services process not running..
I checked in the usual places, however after flashing a newer version of BEAST, sorted the issue.
Even tried looking at the logcat but couldn't see anything that stood out to my little knowledge
Could be to do with the older decked_x based rom being in US English language. But i'm sure i had location working for a while
anyway. flashing a newer ROM fixed it...now just waiting for a stable cm7.2 based SHPONGLE v3.5

2. - The notification LED does not work with external applications (Example: Whatsapp, Facebook)
3. - No puedoacceder my story with the YouTube application, since the update is installed as a more and not upgrade, to enter with my account last YouTube app gives me an error that I can not install Google play services
4. - I can not install google services play, I get an error saying that the application can not be installed by other applications are being used by the user ID

I don't think that rom is ready yet for daily-use, if a basic app like radio fm on a (android 2.3) is not working ( when every other rom is working, even in the buggy JB ) then i think you see the rest of the story... xD. My suggestion: Install Gingersony rom because that one is the most smooth fast and stable rom ( you just have to install a led fix and change the layout of the keyboard for the (Ç) and (,) and sym key to work ) and more battery life 2, and if you want miui looks then just search for a theme like that for ginger roms xD.
