[Q] how i can see the net speed in notification bar? - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys
how i can see the net speed in notification bar?
in real time, display the current speed, like the battery status in the notification bar ????is there is any application do that?
thanks

There is apps that display those setting. But I used a lot of memory.
Try to search market, I've forgotten the name. Sorry
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium

thanks melvinchng
i found application in the marked called "network speed" but it useless for me coz i have to pull down the notification bar every time i wanna check the speed
i'm seeking for a an app display the speed always in icon like battery status icon

Something like that would be overly resource intensive.
Battery charge level is only polled once every few minutes as it is something that isn't expected to change very quickly. But with something as variable as current network throughput, the polling rate would be insane and would be need to be constantly checked.

Search for "Network Speed" from the developer "PT" in the market.
Network Speed description:
"Shows the current upload and download speeds over wifi and/or the mobile network. Shows in the notification bar so it is always accessible from other apps."

try this...

Network monitor mini uses an overlay

Hello,
the rom cMiui has a Networkspeed Monitor on the statusbar. I dont know how the dev managed this. But i would be so lucky, if anyone can tell me this. Isnt there any other mod doing this, without overlay or display speed by downpulling the bar?
Thanks and sorry for my english

Try Internet Speed Meter . It does just that

Apart from Internet Speed Meter, there's also an Xposed Framework module called NetworkSpeedIndicator. This last one requires root and reboot the device after install or uninstall.

application or task bar

I'm searching for an application bar, or task bar (like icbar, wisbar, gigabar, ...) that can show running tasks in the title bar and that is able to show also antenna icon (the one who indicates the GSM network field).
Is there someone who can suggest me such an application?
Rudy
heh me too i uninstalled wisbar because it removed my gsm signal field
taskbar application
Hi,
Magicbutton (you can download from http://www.trancreative.com/) and/or PocketNav (http://download.com.com/3000-2178-10171351.html) are perfect.
yes, but magic button can show only one task bar at a time (usual pocket pc task bar or magic button task bar). When in magic button taskbar you can't see even the time icon and you always have to switch between the two bars.
I don't know pocket nav but I've heard that it cannot show running programs directly in the title bar, isn't it?
rudy
I use magicbutton, and I consider it one piece of art to be freeware ... let's remember that this is a pocket pc environment and not normal XP one. it has limited screen, RAM, CPU speed, ... etc.
the more fatures will be on one screen will make it inconvenient at the end ... maybe you should wait to have XDA III with WM2005
ok, apart of interesting XDA III ... is out there an application able to do what I said?
any experience?

Did you find anything?
You might want to check out GigaTask. This is not as powerful as Gigabar but does not hide the sig strength.
Or there is a new beta (v1.9) of Gigabar - have not tried it yet.
www.gigabar.com/beta
gigabar beta doesn't provide the feature to show network signal icon.
personally I don't like gigatask; btw there are many task managers of that type but nobody is able to show running tasks on task bar (or application bar, or navigation bar as mommy microsoft calls).
Rudy
I think that wisbar advance Phone edition would do what you want (and not only you).
I hope that it will be realesed soon.
You can find the forum on www.lakeridgesoftware.com
jeanlucve... why you don't like GigaTask?
It seems nice to me. Did you have any problems with it?
Thanks,
Uros
Did try using WisBar Advance but does not work properly on my xdaII.

Is there a Phone Edition? I couldn't find mention of it. I tried WizBar Advance and it blocked the SMS/missed call notification icon and also locked up my XDA II every now and then.
Sorry Urosh my mistake, re read your post and you mention it is in the forum section
GigaBar beta

I, too, really like GigaBar...except for the above noted blocking of the phone icons.
Gene hinted in one message on his Gigabar forum that he might be able to fix this...maybe some encouragement from all of us as to how important this would be as a feature...
I also tried GigaTask which does allow display of the phone icons...but then does not show battery strength, which I really miss.

Help suggesting battery app

Hi everyone,
I have battery indicator but I'm looking for an app that just replaces the notification bar slot thats taken by the default battery indicator (not the app). I saw one in a screenshot for example, with a circular icon.
It wasn't an app you saw, it was a modification of the framework-res.apk located in /system/framework.
In order to use one you'd need to be rooted & you have to make sure you apply the correct file for your system's build.
Just search this forum for accurate battery mod threads & chose the style you like best. However, be *ABSOLUTELY* certain you get the right file for your firmware version! Applying the wrong one will probably cause continuous force closes from everything.

[Q] Widget That Shows All Data, and statusbar that shows data kbps in/out

Greetings Forum
Not sure if I'm allowed to post questions in here, if not - mod - please move this! (Apologies)
I was wondering if there was a widget or alike that would display all info
data on/off
screen on/off
data in/out
ip addresses connection
etc. etc.
And then I would like to know if I could get something that would be in my notification/statusbar that would display data in/out?
Kind Regards
~Neefy
Widget that shows all data...
I'm pretty sure you can create a widget to display any of that information and just about anything else you may want with a combination of; Tasker, Minimalistic Text, and some time.
There's a great how to guide for Tasker noobs that covers creating system variables and displaying those variables with Minimalistic Text. It's not a simple as installing an app and placing a widget, but you get better control over how it's displayed and the satisfaction of doing it yourself.

Will try them out Any other?
Wasn't exactly what I looked for I mean realtime info about in/out
Quick System Info Pro - free in the market - not 100% what you wanted but includes the traffic you wanted to know.
Another one is here:

MilestoneXT720 - CM 6.3.0 by MZ
I use 3G Watchdog to monitor my data. It has on screen widgets, and also shows in the notification bar, as seen here:
Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair. So let us be loving, hopeful and optimistic. And we will change the world

You clearly didn't try them. Seepu++ does exactly that.
I use Network Log. http://code.google.com/p/iptableslog/ or search the market for "Network Log"

Ideas for new apps

I'm looking to create another app and wanted to see if there are any ideas out there in XDA-land. My existing app is listed below in my sig. Preferably not a niche application and would rather come up with something that could gain pretty high visibility.
Ideas?
There's an entire forum dedicated to app requests on androidforums.com . You may want to check there.
Oh slick thanks! I'll check that out.
you can try this
App that shows data transfer rate(WIFI,Mobile data) on the notification bar
here are some apps for eg--
DU meter but its in the notification panel...i need one in the notification bar
and there was another app called network meter and lots of other...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...oidMeter&hl=en
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...c3BlZWQucHQiXQ..
but none of them have it on the notification bar....
this one fits my need...
https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...ZHNlcnZpY2UiXQ..
but isnt refreshed in real time
and slows the phone and battery life
Questions should be asked in the Q&A forums, not Development forums.
Thread moved.

The problem is android doesn't actually support dynamic notification icons. So to change the number of a data rate to be real time you essentially have to re submit the notification over and over which would kill your battery.

clipboard sync
I have been searching for one app from very long time now.. My idea for a app is clipboard sync.. Its like the clipboard of my pc and mobile is shared.. either through internet/wifi.. or some notepad kind of thing.. when i copy and paste it on that window it should appear on the same type of window in my phone too.. Online sync.. then we can have option like whether we want to save them or something.. It will help most of the time as we need to copy some address/note from my pc to my mobile to send it as a message may be.. There are some apps on that regard.. evernote is too big with all those crap features which most of people do not use.. I could have done this but sadly i am not a developer .. point me to some app if its already there and i couldnt find it.. And if any developer came across this post please let me know if you are interested to make this app..

[APP] Traffic watcher

Hi Everyone
TrafficWatcher is app for monitoring traffic on your favorite traces.
You can find out delay and traffic congestions on your way only by one click. Or you can set up automatic notification and app warns you at specified time in a case of any problem on your way.
This is my first app for windows phone, so I will be glad for any suggestions on improvement. It's certainly not perfect, but I'm trying to continuously improve it and eliminate possible bugs
The trial version has the full functionality and all features, but contains ad.
Very nice app, thx!
thank you
