Phone doesn't need to show any signs of life to be able to work with repair mode, but it is VERY IMPORTANT that you follow the instructions. If you don't do what the instruction says you will fail. You can try again as many times as you like, no problem.
1) MAKE SURE THE PHONE IS TURNED OFF
Really. We don't want a running phone with just a black screen. Remove the battery temporarily if possible to make sure it is off.
2) START REPAIR IN PC COMPANION
According to the video.
NOW - IMPORTANT:
3) PRESS THE PHONE'S BACK BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME AS YOU CONNECT THE PHONE WITH USB CABLE TO THE COMPUTER
This is where the magic happens! If the phone is not off, or the back button is not pressed at the moment the phone connects to the computer, nothing will happen.
that is the problem with me, as I can not pull out battery from mobile I can not switched off it and hence not able to connect PC Companion....

had the same issue of not being able to connect my phone to pc to repair with seus. thanks loads the "press both midle and right button at the same time and press the power button" trick!!!
I tried your solution but seus just tell me my mini it's up-to-date and there's no more the button for installing anyway android.
The phone just reboots over and over
I seem to have a slightly different problem. I tried the process and right after it said that the phone is connected, the green light on the phone goes out and it looses connection to the phone and prompts me to reconnect. My phone is stuck on the sony ericsson logo, will not shut off and will not boot, can not be detected by the computer. I think I have little more than a very expensive hockey puck.

I have the same problem SEUS says my phone is "up-to-date" what can we do?
Hey yhis helped me too thanks !
something similiar too...
Hi,
Here is my problem.
I have Xperia x10 mini/ yesterday , but mistake, I installed the firmware of the X10 mini PRO !!!
Now, once I understood the mistake, I want to flash with x10 mini firmware.
In order to flash I need to have FLASHTOOLS and need to press the BACK button - the problem is that since the phone is using now the wrong firmware, the BACK button (needed for the flushing ) doesn’t do anything and thus, I cannot install the correct firmware. I tried pushing all other buttons without any luck.
Any idea how I can overcome this problem ? I can’t use my phone now.

The flashmode is initialized before any firmware is loaded, so that isn't your problem
It should always work when your phone is turned off, you press the back-button and attach it to your usb-cable, it should enter flashmode.
If you can't turn it off, connect your phone to your pc, press home and power together till the screen goes black, and then press the back-button.
Well,
I managed to turn the phone off ( using the home+power button), then release the two of them, pressing the BACK button and connecting the USB cable .
nothing hapenns till i release the BACK button and then the phone starts to load with the previous problem.
before installing the the wrong firmware, using the BACK button was OK.
any idea?
update
I managed to hold together the HOME+BACK button and then pushed the POWER button and flashed the E10i 2.1.1 A.0.6 firmware!!!!
while doing it, i noticed for a meesage that the phone is not rooted.
upon finishing the flashing, the phone doesnt boot up, i managed to see the green light and thats all.
i also downloaded the S1 tool in order to root the phone but it says that it can not detect the phone....
what should i do now?

update #2
phone doesnt boot up.
when i connect the flashtool i get the message "Device connected in flash mode".
how to continue from that point ?
hi can someone please help i tried to flash my xperia x10 mini and failed badly and now when i turn on my phone the logo screen comes up and then just stays on... ive left it for about 20 minutes but still nothing its like its bricked on the logo screen i can restart it but it just does the same again. Ive also tried taking the battery out putting it back in then using the update service to lock it in flash mode while i use binarys flash kit but that doesnt work either. Also the update service just says no software update is available it thinks i already have the latest one please help i will be truely greatful x
Edit :
Ive already tried SEUS, PC Companion, Binary's Flash Kit.
Ive already tried connecting it to the adb but cant get adb to recognise a connected device and all the drivers are installed.
i guess you have, but i've to ask, have you tried the repair option in SEUS/PC Companion?
yeh i have seus says i already have the latest software version installed and pc companion actually wants me to load my phone up to connect it :/ any ideas? x
me too!!
i had the same problem with you...
how to get shutdown this phone?
phone must be shutdown when i want to flashing from SEUS..
and i don't know how to shutdown this phone because the battery....
edit : just connect your phone and use restart (hold power button & middle button)
after reboot, press back button and you will connect with SEUS...
but, my phone already get latest update...and i can't flashing from SEUS...
sob..
ive been shutting down the phone by taking the back off and unscrewing the inside cover. Then you will see the battery cable where you can simply unplug it from the motherboard and then reinsert it.
Edit: I also have connected to SEUS but it says i already have the latest software
Ive taken it to a local phone repairs shop ive given up... they said it'll be fresh and working by tomorrow morning it cost me £20 but its just one of those things en it :/
hey guys
all you need is to follow the instructions on SEUS,
when it tells you that you have the latest software press repair.
and when it say that you should turn off your phone and then reconnect it while pressing the back buttom do the following:
1- connenct the phone to the computer
2- press the 3 buttoms (power + mid buttom + back buttom) then as your phone restarts and vibrate remove your fingers from the power and mid buttoms but maintain pressing on the vack buttom
i hope this will help
Hi all. I have multiple problems in my x10i.it has 2.1 It was rooted and worked fine..few days ago I tried to wipe the phone and did the master reset via xrecovery ..after the restart it just hanged at the boot logo and xrecovery is not working from then....I wanted to update with SEUS via USB... but the phone is not connecting as well...What should I do? PLZ HELP ME GUYZ........
Hi,
Seus doesn't recognize your x10 even if you hold back button while plugging usb (flash mode) ?
This week my x10 2.1 crashed (I suppose it was because of rooting with superoneclick without rebooting immediatly), and wasn't recognized by windows. It was in a loop turnig on/off and only putting off battery could turn it off really. Big Problem.
The only solution I found : putting off battery, pluggin usb cable, holding back button and putting on battery. Back button still hold (like flash mode) until seus recognize x10. Then it runs alone and install rom (after I rooted with flashtools and launched jit optimisation, witch increase truely x10 performances!).
Probably seus not recognize your phone because you have a rooted and custom firmware in your x10 and xrecovery is not working because you did a reset and then you delete some files from your phone, you can reinstall it with the x10flashtool or to make a complete restore firmware whit the same x10flashtool
If SEUS/PCC doesn`t recognize your phone, remove them from PC and reinstall them.
You have an USB driver problem

Did you wait for at least 30 seconds before putting battery inside phone (to make sure clearing all memories? And sure you hold back button before, during and after?
Otherwise, what does happen if you press and hold volume button before turning on the phone (and keep volume button hold)?

Well your usb is definitly working then as its glowin green?..
Are you sure you are doing it all right? It happened the same to me, and it ended I was pressing the wrong buttom (I knew which one was the correct one, but was blind cause I was scared that Ive broke it totally), a day later I noticed it and I was able to flash my phone.
However, read a guide and follow it step by step, reinstall everything and start from beginning maybe?
Or use the repair function with PC Companion
Hi! I had the same problem!
1. Search and download from this forum Flashtool 0.2.6
2. Install it.
3. Download from this forum one generic ROM (for exemple X10i_2.1.A.435_GLOBAL-GGL GENERIC 1232-9897 )
4. Put the file in directory Flashtool/firmware
5. Launch X10flashtool.exe
6. DO NOT PUT THE USB CABLE IN THE PHONE
7.From option "flash select the desired ROM
8. Wait the program to begin(a picture will appear)
9. Pressing the back button, insert the usb cable.
10. Wait the flashing to begin and release the back button.
Follow instructions and WAIT around 5 minutes until flashing will complete
11. Send me two words if it helps you! Success!

I've did everything as u told.....no luck ! guess its the time to go to repair center...btw a guy from help center told me about software tampered,,!!out of luck
guyz i received an update from .6x to .7x firmware notification yesterday in Sony bridge for mac.
so i connected it and gave update.
it said to switch on the mobile (successfully updated).
i pressed the power button for a long time also . no sign of switching on.... even i tried power+ volume down button also.... no sign of switching on...
help me out guyz...
try to repair it via SEUS.
when i try to connect to mac...just orange notification led glows... it does not detect itself.....
did u run the SEUS? i think instructions will be posted on your screen once u do the repair. i dont have mac so i dont know if its the same process with windows, anyway try to run the SEUS and it will ask you to connect your phone, if it does not connect try to download the driver for your phone and install it, then try to connect it again.
or if u want
you can try to download an orig ftf then flash it on your phone.
first you need a flashtool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1588586
and then u need the ftf (orig)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1599303
and for the instructions on flashing the original firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=928343
if u choose to flash using flashtool:
since your phone is not booting, once you have the necessary files and place the firmware on the folder of flashtool, (c:flashtool/firmware/your downloaded firmware), open the flashtool then click the lightning icon and choose flashmode and choose your firmware, then connect your phone via flash mode (power button + volume down), this will not connect immediately, what will you do is to push the power button+ volume up and wait until it vibrates 3 times, then after that push the power button+volume down, then the pc will detect your phone and flash the firmware, and then wait until it finish, once finished power on your phone. ( it happens to me also that my phone does not turning on and thats what i did).
Plug it into charger to charge for a while.
i tried to charge it for an hour also... no response.....
or you can go to the store where you buy the phone and have them repair it, its still under warranty right?
I have same problem and this is the way worked back
I had encounter this problem just this morning cz I "repair" my phone by using PCC.
I let it overnight cz when I did it already midnight.
When morning I woke up, I found that the phone was totally shut down and I was unable to turn on the phone.
I was worried at that time and even I charge my phone I cant switch on the phone.
I let the phone charge for very long time, using the adapter charger. Then I try to pull out the sim card and wait long time just put back the sim card, suddenly the phone switch on by itself.
But i really dunno why. Hehe
This is my way. Hope will help you
I have the same problem, how long i must wait until try to insert again the sim card???
OK, my friend gave me this phone because he couldnt repair it. The problem is the phone wont start up, when I plug the charger it shows the sony ericsson logo and the battery level for 1 second (the battery percentage is 0%) and it stucks in a bootloop untill disconnect the device from the charger. I havent tried flashing it with PC Companion or Flashtool because the batterylevel is 0. Also I cant find the battery in this phone. Should I flash the phone and charge it ? Thanks in advance. Just tried to identify with Flashtool it doesnt give any info, even the windows wont detect the phone

When it shows the battery level you can push the power button to let it boot into the ROM. You could try that, but i think the battery is well en truly dead by the sound of it. It is possible to replace it and there is a tutorial in the Accessories section of this forum, but it isn't for the fainthearted.
It's the one design decision SE made with the x10mini that is a royal pain in the you know what... with the x10mini pro you can just pull it out like you would do with any other phone, but in the x10mini it's encapsulated completely which makes it difficult.
It hardly shows the battery level for one second, when I push the power button there it vibrates for a second and it goes as it was, stuck in bootloop.

No harm in flashing it with SEUS or PC Companion then It's not going to make it any worse... But i still think your major problem is the battery.

You can repair it with PC Companion, it doesn't need to recognise the phone, it just needs flashmode which you can reach by pressing the back-button before inserting the usb-cable.
Ask PC Companion for an update without the phone connected and it will give you a repair option. Follow the instructions from there.
Nope, no sign of life. The phone wont enter flash mode.

When it asks for flashmode, plug in the usb-cable, press home (middle) and power buttons together to create a hard reboot.. as soon as the screen is completely black, press the back-button.
Still the same thing. I even tried to enter flash mode while I am charging the phone, the same result. The phone only has life while its on charger otherwise its dead. Cant power on, any program cant detect the phone. Will try to make video to explain visually

I see... but flashmode occurs before the kernel is starting to load, so it should be available to you...
