Porting a pc game for android - XPERIA X8 Themes and Apps

The game is called Propilkki 2 its freeware exe file is 99mb its a cool fishing game
and my question is:
Is there anyone who can try it...at least check it if its possible
i dont know anything about programming and such things, so im asking how possible it is!

Are you crazy? (i am yelling )
Some programers will beg for mershy when they read this....

i think this is crazy thing
i am also a programmer.. i think your question is crazy and can't do it... programmer need to create it not to port it... and i dont think one programmer can do it.. we need a group of programmer

You are not a programmer... you are a small child...

You are right!

So i thought...
well if anyone is willing to do this..than go on guys
but its not a playing around...quite taugh!

There are Windows emulators for Android, AFAIK.
You can also install Windows 95 on your X8, and try it out, but I donĀ“t know if it would work.

Erm... has anyone noticed that Jagged Alliance 2 has been ported to android? You need to install thr game to PC, then rename all files in the data folder to be small characters only, then copy data folder to sdcard, then install JA.apk to phone... then it will work, but the screen is small for the game though (for further info, use google: jagged alliance; android //keywords). So yes, porting PC games could be possible ( not to mention quake 2 and 3, and duke nukem...).

yes.. i am small child
owh.. you think i'm small child?? don't judge the book by it cover.. are you never hear about some child know about programming when they are 12 years old? and now i'm 18.. for 6 years i being involved in programming group...

yea the guy is right u have to make the entire game again for android

wow...thats great news!

Hmm... it will be difficult to make it work... I do not know the game, if it is very small, maybe our phone can handle it BUT I really believe that serious games can't run no matter what...
P.S.: Children under 11-12 years old shouldn't even touch a PC, and until 14 they shouldn't type in such forums... you even call your self a programmer...
(for the good of the Internet and the world). The discussion about you is over...

Ok,the age in programming doesnt matter.i know a guy,who now makes games (he is in college now)
Who started playing with programming when he was 11.messing in q-basic and he slowly learned it.reading books, searching internet etc. And he did it.now,he knows whole c+,directX programming, programming in linux, unix, and other stuff.so dont judge, because everything can be learned.

Check this out (an other guy told too):
working windows 95 on android
But he is speaking about old DOS games...
P.S: I also starting "Programming" at schoolchild, and now , 19 years old i study Civil Engineering and I also know batching, html, php, pascal, fortran, javascript and from CMS: drupal (i also develop an extension for firefox/chrome/opera over the game Gladiatus with up to 16.000 daily users), BUT i still believe that nowadays children use the PC too much. They take a program that makes sth and they call them selves hackers. In 10 years we will have stupid 18 years old boys that where born with a PC, they will not be able to live without one and the only think they will know, is how to open facebook...
Should i open a topic? lol

That is true.im 14 and i started using pc like 6 months ago when i got x8,and just from reading i know alot of stuff.

sorry for my bad english again...

[Q] Fastest Way To Learn Programming? #StartUps

Ok This may sound really stupid, and it may not come true. But you can always dream.
I want to learn how to develop apps on all the mobile platforms and want to make a startup. For example what Seesmic and others are doing.
Android is obvioulsy coded in Java.
But how should I start, and what things should I follow? Thanks a lot appreciate it to the MAX.
Learn Java.
Google AppInventor.
Read the SDK.
Experiment.
learn java
get the android application development for dummies book
Yeah google has a lot of great resources online with tutorials for the Android SDK specifically. Once you learn Java from an online class or a book or something, you can look through the SDK tutorials and generally understand how to do things. There are also a lot of basic app tutorials to show you through the ropes of displaying notifications, having different screens of an app, etc. so just look around on the internet.
"ALL THE MOBILE PLATFORMS"? Android, iOS, Windows Mobile, HP(I think HP has their own OS).
That's quite a dream. Do you have any programming experience?
I've been a programmer for 15 years and started doing Android development over a year ago. I've not even touched 1/1000 of what Android has to offer. In other words, there is a learning curve that is directly proportional to your skill level.
I'm a firm believer in college education, so if you can, get a degree in Computer Science, all the better. And there are actually some very good 2-year programs out there if 4 years is out of the question.

I agree 100%. You can't just jump in and expect to know everything there is to know. I've been a C/C++ developer for close to 20 years. I just got into Android and Java in the last year or so, and I agree with Rootstonian; you need a good base in OOP to get anywhere in Java and you can only really get that from a college.
Thanks a lot everyone for your help. Now that some of you tolde me you have been developers for close to 20 years or so. Programming seems scary and hard. Now I have doubts if I want to start programming :S
Anyways thanks a lot for everything.

Well true it takes time,i myself have been programming c,c++,java for the past 8 years.i am now starting out with android,my advice would be select one os platform that you would like to work on and move slowly and steadily up the ladder
It's ONLY "scary and hard" at the beginning...honest. Think back to something you have learned and at the time thought "this is crazy, I'm never going to get this!!" Then a year later you look back and say to yourself "why did I think (insert whatever) was so hard?" ROFL
Like Gene said, about everything is Object Oriented these days. When he and I learned it was Assembler, Fortran, Pascal, "pure" C, <gasp> BASIC, <cringe> COBOL...there was no OOP (well not quite, I learned OOP in C++).
Don't give up before you get started With the help of some good JAVA books and the wealth of information on the Net, you have more resources than I ever had when I started learning.
And you can always come here for questions. Like someone else said, pick a platform and "go for it"...you have nothing to lose! If you think it's something you're going to like, then look for formal education.
I just want to reiterate that you should start small. If you have no programming experience at all then I suggest learning the basics first. I took an Intro to Programming class a while back and it was way different than I expected. But it prepared me to start learning programming languages. After you have the basics down, App Inventor would be a good place to start, IMO.
when i started to learn some basics, i started with the Google App inventor, then to
Processing + Arduino, and learning more and more each day.
A good Start is with Processing, Or Processing for Android.
They have super easy examples, and its easy to do just about anything. Give it a try.
Search the "thenewboston" at youtube. Watch his java tutorials. After the java tutorials watch his android tutorials. The way he teach it makes all professors boring. Lol but he's really good.

Thanks a lot everyone for your replies.
I think I may check out Processing for Android as suggested by Technochris1.
But as a proper language, I will start with C#. So I can get started on Windows Phone apps.
Then Java or C++ after that.
Thanks.
I don't know C#, so my comment could be moot...
Windows phone apps? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the dominate forces in mobile apps would be Apple's iOS and Android.
I see nothing wrong with learning JAVA as a first language, but like someone posted, START SMALL and work you way up. You have to know about variables, program flow, looping structures, arrays, etc.
Even something as simple as the mod operator can confuse beginners but is just one of many tools you need to have under your belt. In other words, you can't build a house if you don't know how to use a hammer!

YES Android and iOS are WAY ahead of Windows Phone, WebOS and the others. But as I stated in the OP, I stated that I would like to make apps for all of the platforms eventually.
I would love to get started with Java, but can't really find any good material to learn the Java language.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

[Q] what's your java and android learning curve/time.

Hi all.
I'm absolutely a noob to the programming. I don't know any of the programming languages. But I wanted to do the stuff what programmers do . I wanted to build applications compatible for different platforms. I like the programming very very much.
Then after searching I came to know that java is good one to start with. Then I downloaded the java tutorials offline html content from oracle website. I feel it is the standard for learning java. I'm learning with jdk7 u2 but however I just started to learn. I don't know how it goes, but I have some ubuntu usage knowledge and also some android usage knowledge.
And I wanted to create apps for android. So I wanted to learn the android official DEV GUIDE . So I downloaded present version of sdk documentation. I had a look at it and I felt knowledge of java is needed to go through it.
At first I wanted to start development by creating my own android app. So learning java atfirst and later android documentation is must as I think.
So, I THOUGHT OF ASKING U GUYS HOW MUCH TIME (in days, weeks, or months) U RECOMMEND TO LEARN JAVA from oracle tutorials offline. SIMILARLY HOW MUCH TIME FOR ANDROID DOCUMENTATION.
I know the learning time varies from person to person but what is the time for an average noob person . And if u learnt java and android from noob stage can u tell me how much time it took for u.
Thanks in advance and sorry for my english.
Pls feel free to give me suggestions if you have any...
Anyone please.
Well I'm in the same boat as, you are! I want to learn more about android, developing and what not but am limited because I refuse to root my phone. However this kinda stuff still interests me. So if you have any takers on this thread with some learning modules or what not just shoot me a PM or something with what you learned! Thank you!

Depends on the app your making.
Ive been reading alot about java, and android. Theres a great video on xda tv. Actually 2 videos. Ones to set up eclipse and the android sdk. And run a basic app. The second is making of a root app.., though that one i got brain block on right at the point where adam says he need to edit some files.. from that point on my brain froze and i gave up lok. Though i have managed to create an app with buttons that do nothing lol..ui looks cool though..
Have a look for the frogger source code by doing a google search.. that helped quite a bit.
Loads of info scattered about. At the min im currently trying to piece together how to make a button open google maps to show a specific location.. or even open google direction so it uses your location and points to a place i define..
Easy said then done as im struggling with where i type intent codes etc..

Just starting android development...thought I would share these.

Hey guys, I've been using android for about 2 months now (flashing ROM's helping with testing etc.) but now I want to contribute to the community. So i'm starting off by perhaps making a few simple apps then ROM's.
I have experience with some programming but nothing in-depth. I worked with python, perl and java already, got a few books on the subject and I found a few videos, which is the point of this post, I just thought I would share it with anyone else who is thinking about developing for our Ace.
Here they are:

Since I don't know much about it, are these videos a good guideline? Or can you Dev's point me in the right direction, I would love to be apart of the community.

[Q] Is it possible for a total beginner to develop this?

Hi guys,
(you can skip the blablabla to the fat letters )
it's been a while i'm registered and totally stunned of the work which the devs do @ this Forum. For years i think about the possibilities with coding stuff. But always thought it's to hard and take years.
But now with android i will give it a try. Because it would be awesome to write stuff by myself or solve problems with apps cause i understand the code or log output.
The best thing i invented was a Premium account Alarm for Rapidshare. It was just a tiny little script which checks for certain words/banner on the site and will popup the Firefox with an alarmfile i set. And i was proud that i managed that the process was in the background. Acessable through the taskbar... Easy as hell. You see i got no clue but understand a little bit of html. I can search the code of sites for certain stuff i want...No skill at all but reading...
My goal is it to archieve an app which can transform not tapatalk supportetd Forums in a better format. Because i couldn't find anything. And it's annoying for me...
Would it be possible? I don't care if it's not compatible to google play or anyone. I want this because i "need" it. And i guess it's fun for me to develop. If it becomes an high recomended app. Awesome but my goal is to get it to work and have fun.
For now i'm on the Hello World app...
Thank you for your patience.
Best regards,
Sam
First row is the Limit...
oh my god. This guy's such a noob
Well you got your foot in the door, but the HTML script on a web page is much different than linux code, this will take alot of researching and then alot more research and time.Im not a coder, but i am also learning and have been for a year now and i just barely scrapped the surface.Soo dont expect to develope an app by tomorrow.Expect alot of trial and error.
I guess it's possible but as mentioned above it takes time to learn to code from scratch. However there are a lot of good tutorials on the net which u can use to learn.

Record voice app [ need ]

I need an app or an method to know everything from my partner . I have some suspicios minds and must know . Its about samsung s6 edge rooted phone and now i want to know how can to put the phone to record voice automaticaly when somebody talk around , when the phone "hear" some voices .. start recording and when the phone didn't hear -> stop the record . Just when "hear" but without any notification or something like that . Somebody can help me ? Any method is welcome . Thanks a lot
you can install her cerberus app.but search the rooted version which is hideable.I am not responsible if something happen (not to the phone...to your relationship) I think I helped!

Use Cerberus app. If you can't trust her then you shouldn't be in relationship. If you find no evidence and she finds the app she prob kick you ass. So better method would be just to ask her straight if she lies to you. Then just move on ain't worth it.
If you are at a point in your relationship that you are so untrusting you want to log and record her cell phone usage, maybe it's time you just ended the relationship. You might think finding nothing will make everything better, but you will just dig deeper and damage the relationship until she ends it.
I've been where you are, and I will tell you from experience that if you are here one of 2 things are happening. Either she is messing around and you should end the relationship or you are a bat**** crazy control freak who isn't mature enough to be in a relationship... so either way don't go through the trouble and just break it off.
That being said, Cerberus is what your looking for

Don't even try and find out man, just end it at save yourself the hurt. Better to not know and not care than to know and feel like crap.
if I was you,I think I would watch her with such an app only if I would marry her.in other case I would try to be relaxed till I found out what kind of people is she.and dont forget that is in all women nature to try to impress us..so think logically dude but first think if you love her...
You right guys but is better for me to know is about a lot of stuff . My future is in game . We want to go in a other country to do something there and .. its a little bit complicate and i dont want to say . If somebody wanna help me is welcome i dont need teorems . Thanks . On a personal note. Of you are using something like this. It is already over and can't be repaired and even if she/he isn't doing anything wrong the min they find out it is completely over and they will most likely never speak to you again and that is if they don't press charges.

No one here is paid. It is all volunteer.
As for explaining. You are not even remote worth explaining anything to.
This is a developers site. Made for and by developers. Not for people looking to buck the legal system.
Again read the rules. You know. The one that says not to ask for anything illegal? If reading english is an issue there are plenty of translator apps.

Ok first no one will help you here as what you are asking is illegal. So you are out of luck.
On a personal note. Of you are using something like this. It is already over and can't be repaired and even if she/he isn't doing anything wrong the min they find out it is completely over and they will most likely never speak to you again and that is if they don't press charges.
