Is it possible to create a custom keyboard on my Android tablet to be used with my desktop? E.G. Create custom buttons on the Tablet to be used with games and such that shows icons and graphics on the tablet so I don't have to memorize keyboard shortcuts? (these graphic "hot spots" on the tablet translaate to keyboard mappings for the desktop.)
Thoughts? Kind of like the Optimus Tactus keyboard concept keyboard....

If anyone has particular interest in the 8pen keyboard, I would like to request a slight mod for the app.
8pen has an awesome option to switch to a standard qwerty keyboard quickly. The keyboard though seems to be the Gingerbead keyboard.
Being an HTC follower, I was wondering if someone would be up for the challenge of exchanging the built in GB keyboard in the 8pen for the HTC keyboard (without cursor arrows found in Synergy).
Is this possible?
i am searching for a hack so that android stock keyboard could learn words from facebook and add it to prediction.. like in swiftkey x.... i love android keyboard and i need that function too...

I was running VegaNTab and I really like the keyboard layout on that ROM. I use my tablet in landscape mode 99% of the time, and the split kbd layout makes it really easy to type with just my thumbs.
There is a bug in the VegaNTab networking, and after the 4th reinstall, I finally had enough. I installed the Smoother Bean (v1.3.2, 160dpi) ROM.
I like the Smoother Bean ROM, but don't really like the kbd layout. I tried copying the qwerty.kl file from /system/user/keylayout in the VegaNTab installer to the tablet. Rebooted the tablet, and had no keyboard at all. I used an external keyboard to get things back to a working state.
Is there a way to pull the kbd layout out of the VegaNTab installer and install it in Smoother Bean?
Currently no. The other alternative is to go get swift key 3 from the play store. It has the split feature that you are looking for.

Hi,
I am configuring a tablet for my grandparents, and I am struggling to find an Android keyboard which arrange keys in alphabetical order (A B C D ...) instead of QWERTY.
I am not looking for a keyboard with combined keys using dictionaries like dialpad/T9 (which would be too complicated for them), I just need a basic keyboard with one virtual key per letter.
I thought that this would be very common and easy to find, but it's not
The only applications that I found are :
Keyboard for Senior Citizens : would be perfect but does not scale up correctly on tablet.
Keyboard for Dyslexics (lol) : seems to be exactly the same as the "senior" version, did not try because it s an other pay app and has same developer, screenshots and description.
Kids Keyboard : Scale problem in landscape on tablet : too small.
Alphabetical Keyboard : takes the whole screen in landscape on tablet.
Simple Large Button Keyboard : Scale problem in landscape on tablet : too small.
SlideIT English - ABC pack : layout addon for SlideIT keyboard, but I don't like the suggestion panel remaining on the top.
Dextr Alphabetic Keyboard : the only functional from the list, but I would rather use a design closer to a traditional keyboard.
If anybody knows a better keyboard with ABCD order or a keyboard which would let me customize the layout, I would be very interested.
Best regards,
Laurent

You could take a look at Clavis keyboard, it's announced on the XDA news portal. It's for a tablet, but it basically recreates the standard PC keyboard. Amazing that nobody thought of implementing this earlier...
