I haven't heard of anyone else having a problem similar to this, earlier today, my touchpad started having issues where it would say to reset it then reset itself. Other problems like upon reset Bluetooth and wireless being disabled and a reminder from the calender. Under device info it shows no webos account some of the time.
WebOS doctor fails to fix it. It seems that no data can be modified, it appears to have been but nothing actually occurs. If I delete something, even format the usb storage area of the touchpad, nothing gets erased. Nothing can be written either to it, the data appears to be written or copied over but doesn't actually.
I hadn't installed anything in the past week, it just started acting up all of a sudden when I was running ubuntu (via chroot). Other than that I can't think of anything else that could have caused it.
I'm at a loss of what to do... anyone have any ideas? Anything that could help me fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I suppose sending it in to HP won't be of any help due to voided warranty...
As far as I can tell from the diag info your flash went bad. Unless you get it replaced you're more or less screwed.
Maybe this is some way of god telling me to get the transformer prime, sucks that I just sold my other hp touchpad last weekend.
It still works just not having anything save really sucks. Maybe I'll just screw up the memory a bit via high voltage and/or mildly high current and try to send it in to HP.... a horrible thing to do but memory shouldn't be failing after two months. Only reason I would consider screwing up the memory is to get rid of personal files and so that they can't tell I installed warranty voiding software.
had the same issue. your ram is is locked, due to an security process that will protect your ram. look at my treat i figured out many things, but ended up shipping the touchpad to hp. they did replace it. i had screwed with it partitions and everything else, but hp did repair it without any questions.
good luck,

I am having a repeated issue I was hoping someone has seen or could help me with.
I'm on the default rom w/ the TnT Enhancement pack and overall I LOVE the device. One thing that is literally killing me is trying to get data to/from my device.
I have tried USB linking to my Win7 64bit system as well as copying data to/from with Astro and the microSD card and more times than not either during or after any file copy/move activity the device locks up, needs to be hard booted and then I'll get the 'scanning SD card' message in the notifications and the tablet locks up hard, and becomes unuseable until I reboot about 10xs and finally it starts to return to normal.
I've tried formatting EVERYTHING and re partitioning to 2048 & 0 w/ clockwork and doing a fresh NVflash and reupdating/TnT Enhancement, etc...with similar results, so I'm not sure at this point if it's my microSD the internal card, some sort of hardware or overall software issue.
I love this device, but I'm borderline frustrated enough to return it, only problem is ALL the other tabs are WAY too expensive for what you get! ($400 is reasonable $600+ is stupid - I can get a laptop for that much - which I already have, and the tablet isn't nearly as capable/more just convenient)...

I'm kind if unclear about your problem. Is it hanging only when you're copying stuff between /sdcard and /sdcard2?
I'm asking because you mentioned USB, but I didn't think you could xfer directly to/from /sdcard2 over USB.
If that is the case, have you tried a different microSD card?
Jim
I've tried USB xfer from computer to /sdcard as well as using multiple microsd cards to transfer data to the internal gtab memory, all seem to have the same results, when moveing external data to the gtab, it suddenly seems to cause some sort of file system corruption (as best I could guess). last round forced me to go as far as re-doing the entire device to bring it back to a stable state!
Since you mentioned returning it I would suggest exchange as this sounds like a problem with your device. Could have a bad card reader or the card is just not seating correctly
Hi,
A couple of comments:
- does the enhancement pack you have have that dataloop thing? I've seen some posts mentioning corruption w dataloop. Maybe try w/o the enhancements?
- for the scanning /sdcard2 thing, maybe try adding a file named .nomedia (period followed by nomedia) in /sdcard2. That's suppose to prevent the mediascanner from scanning the dir plus subdirs.
Jim
I'm about done with this thing. I've tried everything I can think of and I can't get away from the thing locking up (from full stock OTA gtab to the TnT custom ROMs).
1)The first Gtab I had the screen wasn't responsive to touch (had to hit it two or three times to get it to recognize you wanted to open an App. returned to SEARS
2)The second Gtab I got, when I powered it on for the first time it had a line across the entire screen in the LCD of bad pixels (dead pixels/whatever - something was wrong with the screen) - took it back AGAIN
3)This Gtab locks up whenever I use the microSD or USB transfering files to the thing. WILL BE RETURNED
I'm convinced that these things are the biggest pieces of sh!t on the planet. I've spent (and I'm not even stretching the truth) probably 40 to 60 hours trying to get this thing to work LIKE A NORMAL DEVICE - all I want is something to: browse the web, view videos and read epubs on - I'M NOT ASKING FOR MUCH, a simple device that can't accomplish THOSE SIMPLE TASKS - SUCKS.
I'm happy to think that the money viewsonic (or whomever) spend to build these three BAD devices is out whatever it cost them, given my trouble. TiD!
how to fix
Go to settings, applications, system applications, media storage and clear data. It worked for me.

Dude, I've been telling people on here for days. Go buy an ipad and leave us gtab fans alone. My benchmark is at 3000's while having half a dozen apps running and I'm happy with it. My screen is too sensitive to say the least.
I'm not sure when it started, but I noticed recently that my internal SD card is only showing at 13gb, instead of 14gb. What's even stranger to me is that when I mount the usb, windows says it's capacity is 14,036,262,912 bytes (if my math is right, that's 14gb), but then right next to that says 13gb. So somewhere I lost a gig of storage space.
I've noticed this both on stock and Vegan 5.1.1. Any ideas?
(DISCLAIMER: I think I've read about this problem or similar ones, but after hours of reading threads and trying several search terms, I can't find it. If it's old news, just point me to the thread and leave the flaming at the door. Thanks!)

Your math is wrong. 15,032,385,536 bytes is exactly 14GB. 14,036,262,912 bytes is 13.072GB. Everything is on a 1024 base system not 1000
That's a handy little site. Ok, my math is wrong, and I feel stupid because now that you mention it I know everything's not 1000 based.
All that aside, I'm still showing 13 instead of 14gb storage on a g-tablet with nothing loaded on it. I've partitioned with cwm to 2048,0. Anyone know where my 14th gb ran off to?

As badfrog already gave you - 14,036,262,912 bytes is 13.072GB. Windows translates it down to what that relates to instead of just telling you it's 14gb... The issue here is that manufacturers all do this to say you're getting 14gb (which is true - you're getting 14 billion bytes, aka 14gb....) but when it gets translated by the computer it's always going to come up differently, showing the true 1024-based nomenclature.
Incidently MacOS 10.6 changed how they report storage, making it exactly 1000 instead of 1024....
iow, all g-tablets are shipped saying they have an internal 16gb memory, but really it's only ~1.7 for system, and 13 for storage?

2048 for data and 0 swap space is what is created - leaving 14,036,262,912 for storage....
That makes sense.
Sorry for the rather n00bish question. I must've imagined having extra space. Thanks!
Hey Guys plz help me as fast as you can because while un-mounting my card i think i have messed a little bit with the holder so its no more detecting any micro sd cards....
i have rooted this phone so i am currently flashing official indian gb to do a full reset will this help me in getting my warrant back???
or any other solution guys plz help
(EX INFO:- i have tested two cards which worked on almost any other phone i could find but no one is working on my phone )
Anyone?
(you know its very hard to have phone with only 85mb free while its android....)
I'm not sure if this is your case, but before sending to LG Service make sure that the cards that you try to use are using the FAT32 file system. Otherwise it is possible that your phone will not automatically mount them.
As for the firmware - if it's official the warranty should be active, as long as it hasn't already expired.
k should i take the 2gb card which i got with the phone, but it shows 1.8... is it k?
Memory devices always show less memory than specified. I'm not sure, but I think the reason is this (A Kilobyte IS equal to 1000 bytes as a Kilometer is equal to 1000 meters. A Kibibyte is equal to 1024 bytes as a Kibimeter is equal to 1024 meters. As simple as that!).
thanks i have got it serviced by a fool at the service centre he doubted that it should be 20c i was worried than i remembered it was of the leaked one so i was tension free...
Any clue as to how to get the Titanium Backup folder to copy and be recognized from my 32GB Sandisk to 64GB Samsung MicroSD Ext Card? I did the whole process with a USB card reader of copying ALL files from the 1st card to the computer and then using the card reader again, copied all my files including the Titanium Backup folder to the new 64GB card but when I put it back in the S4 and go in to TIBU, it doesn't see any of the backup files and of course when I check with a file program like Astro, the Titanium backup folder is empty. All other files copied over fine and are readable on the new 64GB card.

Open Titanium. Use the menu key, Preferences, Backup Settings, Backup folder location. Re-select the /storage/extSdCard/TitaniumBackup folder to tell Ti where the backups are stored. Hopefully that'll get it back. (assuming you use the default folder.)
Or, use a file explorer and go to /storage/extSdCard/TitaniumBackup - there should be a whole bunch of files there. If not, check how you copied from the old to the new card.
Thanks for the suggestion. It seems though that my problem is more severe than expected and not only effecting TIBU files on the new Samsung Class 10 microSDHC Card 64GB I purchased on Ebay. It came in brand new packaging but now I wondering if it might be a "knock off" and I got had. Other files are disappearing like a couple directories of pictures. my TWRP backups, ect... after being copied and initially view-able on the device using Astro file. I did a little googling and found a program called H2testw that I'm running on the remaining free memory (aprox 45 GB) now.
Doesn't make sense
Yeah never a good idea to get an sd card on eBay it's probably like 90% fake now. Did you pay full price from a reputable seller?

Wow. Based on the seller's feedback, they're likely to refund. However, that's pretty horrible.

Yea, I'm hoping for a refund. Printed off the pre-paid shipping label via ebay returns which surprised me the seller pays for the shipping back. Really wild how they package these things in "Samsung" looking packaging and even stamped Samsung on the card. But I'm convinced they are selling knock-offs somehow. Don't know how all that works and I did originally base my purchase decision off the seller's feedback and history.
It makes me wonder how many of their cards are good vs.s how many returns they have to process. How any money is made in the process.
Hi all,
I'm wondering if you guys can help me get this head unit back up and running (properly).
The story so far...
I bought a cheap head unit for a project car (first Android head unit I've had). When I received it, it actually ran REALLY well, everything was super smooth, very responsive. There was a problem though, all of the internal storage was read only, nothing was left for app space. They had also removed the options to format an SD Card as internal storage so I couldn't install anything. I got to looking for a replacement firmware. After a tonne of reading I was finding it was pretty much a clone of a Joying head unit, at least from a spec and software point.
This is the unit...
*ebay.co.uk/itm/7-Quad-Core-Android-6-0-WiFi-1DIN-Car-Radio-Stereo-BT-GPS-Navi-MP5-RDS-Player/253882611489?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
I had used the Joying Tools to root it, it actually failed but strangely after a restart the FS was R/W. Only a few hundred meg was used I should've stopped there but yeah, I didn't. The more I read, the more I thought it was just a Joying unit, in a physically different package and for the most part it is. It seems like the minor differences are what is causing me problems. My touch screen now doesn't work ) I took me ages to notice too, I'm not actually sure at what point of my messing around it happened, I had a keyboard and mouse plugged in.
The screen itself is fine (undamaged), from what I can see the driver is having problems. After a bit of digging I was starting to think the driver wasn't installed for it. I could see the devices listed in programs like Hardware Info but I couldn't see any modules loaded for it. I was thinking that the new firmware didn't have the same modules so my plan was to recompile the drivers from source. I got that done and when going to install them, I saw a load of errors with dmesg. The I2C controller seem to be running but is having problems, and drivers for the controller and touchscreen do seem to be there. dmesg is showing...
start check gt9xx_i2c
<<-GTP-INFO->> Guitar reset
i2c i2c-3: xgold_i2c_error_reg_status, device: 0x41 ERR_INT 0x30 recvd msg len: 1, state: 1
<<-GTP-ERROR->> I2C Read: 0x8040, 2 bytes failed, errcode: -121!
There is a lot in there, it repeats a lot but that's what stands out, I'll need to find something to make reading the dmesg output a bit clearer but overall, you can see the communication with the touchpanel trying to happen but isn't. White reading the porting documentation for the GT9xx driver I found out that you have to tell it what GPIO's are going to be used for reset and irq, maybe some others. I'm assuming that is GPIO's from the MCU but I'm not sure, I'm still a bit hazy on how the parts of these units talk to each other. I'm thinking the drivers in the Joying firmware are configured for addresses and GPIO's different from this unit so communication with the Touchpanel isn't working (being hardcoded into the driver).
Info about the system...
Manufacturer: ReakoSound (maybe, its not printed on the box or unit but raking around it seems to be them that makes it)
Model: RK-A712
CPU: Rockchip Sofia
RAM: 1GB
ROM: 16GB
Touch: Goodix GT9157
OS: Android 6.0.1
Does anyone have any ideas about how I can get the screen up and running or does anyone have one of these units? Everything else does seem to be running perfectly, the unit is running the GTX rom for Joying Sofia head units right now.
Thanks in advance
Progress-ish
I got a hold of the original firmware. I emailed ReakoSound and asked them for it I could see right away it was the one it came with. The boot logo is of an orange and black car, I remember seeing it when I first powered it on.
I didnt quite solve things though. The RGB Colors of the buttons are correct now. After messing with it I noticed the colors were off slightly, like you would choose say green from the configuration app menu and the buttons would go red. Just like the software was configured for different gpio's. So that's back to normal now. It didn't fix the touchscreen issue though. I did notice that every time it started after reflashing the firmware, it would state that I had previously switched off a google setting and asked if I wanted to switch it back on. It was holding settings somewhere.
My plan was to try to blank it as completely as I could. I used the custom.apk to to run TWRP and used that to wipe everything. I restarted and using that ALT+PRINTSCR+E method to get into the recovery started the flash procedure, hopefully on a 100% blank system. Now, another problem...
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted
No matter what firmware I use, I get the same message. The original and Joying firmwares all have the same result. I'm currently looking for a way around this. So far I'm seeing that the verification can be switched off but that looks like using other recovery software (TWRP?), I dont get the option on the stock one, it boots right into the reflashing procedure.
Any ideas?
