Hi Sorry I couldn't post this in the kindle fire android market thread, because I don't have enough posts yet..
I am unable to copy the Vending.apk file to the system app folder. It's not a read/write issue because I was able to uncompress the vending.apk and copy the uncompressed folder to 'app' but not the .apk. I was able to copy OTHER files to this folder as well.
any help would be appreciated. thanks

My Android Market app quit working after the 6.2.1 update, kept getting FC every time I tried to start the app.
I tried reinstalling, downloaded different versions, etc., nothing worked. Found this thread about the 3.4.4 version of Android Market.:
Since this is my first post, I can't post the link, but it is on Galaxyforums.net, the thread's title is "New Android Market Version 3.4.4" The article contains a link to the apk on mediafire.
Downloaded it and it worked. Installed the app, rebooted the KF, and now I have a working Android Market!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
you don't rename it.
on computer you extract it, go into system and you see the apk
it won't let you install on phone by just clicking
put on sd card
go to astro, or root manager
move the memo.apk to system/app
done.
you need to extract the folder with winrar winzip whatever then there is a folder with the apk in it. copy it over to your phone under downloads or where ever you want to put it. then install.
edit: just did all that i said and when i tried to install the apk it says "application not installed"
just did what u said, even rebooted, and still don't see it

read the post above.
you have to move the .apk to system/apps
because memo isn't a regular app.
got the same thing. used astro, place the apk in system/apps. nothing happened. rebooted, still nothing. then even tried using the app manager in astro to install it and it says "there is a problem parsing the package"
Link no longer working... could somebody upload it again please ?
thanks

You can just use Roman's Bloater if you like.

I've tried this with MIUI (1.7.22) on a SGS Captivate with no success. I have flashed many roms and installed/sideloaded many apps over the past 10 months. I know I'm doing it right, as I have 'installed' other system apps by moving the apk to /system/apps and fixing permissions and ownership. Has this worked for anyone on a MIUI ROM?
Another related question would be - is there a way to export the notes from the stock memo.apk?
I am stumped! The files start downloading to my touchpad, I see the Penguins and files loading to the touchpad but it suddenly stops and says " No cminstall dir found, nothing to install"..... I have a cminstall folder with the files in it? I have tried deleting and reinstalling the files over and over and i keep getting the same error? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I had Android installed on my touchpad but lost it with the Hp update. I might add I also did web doctor and started fresh but still no luck..
Have you tried running the ACMEUninstall script before your re-install?
I just did the Uninstall and the same thing happened when I went to reinstall?
Cminstall folder needs to be in /media/internal not root. Install script looks at that folder for everything.
Sent from my very "non-stock" TP.
Can you explain where I can find that..thanks for your help
Did you "extract" files to designated locations or just moved the zips before installing?
Watch this video. If you still get it wrong don't know what to tell you.

HTC Vision(G2), meXdroidmod Ghost Chili AIO ROM/ICS CM7 theme.
I've only started trying to sideload after only being rooted with the CWM Root.. I've watched the tutorials from Albert on Youtube and have read numerous posts on here on sideloading, If I'm only missing a program or something I'm gonna be a little embarrassed but right now I can't seem to get any APK to install on my NT..
So far I have downloaded the ES File Explorer, I've sent my APK files over to a file that I have created to store them and have tried to open them using the ES File Explorer, and I keep getting the same error ("Unable to Install" This application was not able to instal on your device. Please "Archive" and then "Unarchive" the application to try again.) Then my APK file is no longer on my tablet.. I have to reload it from the PC and try again.. with the same results.
Also I have tried the download method for the APK files in which he showed with the same error and results..
If you have seen this and is easy I applogize for the incovenience, but I have been unable to find this on the forums..
Thank you Much..
You are opening it with the wrong package installer, B&N has their own package installer, and it's being opened with that instead of the Android one.
The bigger problem is once it's viewed as "incompatible" it's deleted by B&N's so it would need to be put back on the device.
Your default may be set incorrectly if you don't get a prompt to ask which package installer.

That would make sense that I'm opening it with the wrong installer. Where am I going to find the other package installers and set them as my default??
Also I've Downloaded APK installers from the Android Market and hae tried those as well but getting incompatible errors with those as well..
Was trying to install some APK manually then i got a "LOW STORAGE SPACE" warning. Check online, was 'guided' to delete some .odex file.
I think i deleted some wrong files but I can't remember which. After deleting the .odex, I was able to install the APK I wanted to install.
But now, which is few hours later with a few reboot done to my phone. I can't use Google Play (getting error 406), I can't manually install APK which I transferred from my notebook. When I try to open the APK file (and few others which previously worked) via Root Explorer or File Commander both apps return the similar warning, somethings that says "there are no apps capable of opening this kind of file"
Any help here?

from your question I guess it is the packageinstaller.apk/odex you deleted but not sure
with out the name of the files you deleted you cant get it to work
so simply reflash the rom

After downloading in Chrome and moving files elsewhere, they still show up in Chrome Downloads. I can even open the files via Chrome Downloads even when the file has been moved.
If the file was an image, it initially appears that it was opened from the Downloads folder, but then when you actually open it with a gallery app and view details, the file path shows the folder I've moved the files to.
Surely moving downloaded files elsewhere should prevent Chrome from picking them up? How does Chrome even know where I've moved the files to? The destination folder even has a .nomedia file but that doesn't seem to make a difference.
I've tried deleting cache and data for both Downloads and Download Manager, but that hasn't helped. The only way I can stop downloaded files from showing up in Chrome Downloads is by deleting them.
I've recently upgraded to a S23 Ultra from a Note 8, and I never experienced this on the Note 8.

That obviously works but I shouldn't have to use that. If I move a file, there shouldn't be a link to the new location.
Furthermore, I don't get why it wasn't an issue on my previous phone.
