[Q] ICS ROM development - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I know that the cyanogenmod team had posted saying that they were going to be bringing CM9 to the galaxy tab, but with all these other devices getting good early working ports of ice cream sandwich, I can't help but feel a bit jealous. I am wondering if anyone else is working on making an ice cream sandwich rom for the galaxy tab.

DaAwesome1 said he was working on it.

any link to his thread?

its Samsung's marketing trick. the possibility is just 30 percent. theres no official announcement from samsung. our device doesnt have that much firepower.

1. Yes , you may right
2.Its not the firepower, Ace have Gingerbread right? So it has enough power for ICS, so wrote Google.
3. It was released in February, so we should get an update

And either way, if we don't get it there's always CM9 ;D
i think i read somewhere that cm9 will not be ported for ace.

Guys don't confuse people.. time will say
hmmm, i hope so
but probably there won't be any official ics from samsung, custom still better
The last thing that one losses is hope... So I hope still we will be getting the update... (there's also no strong reason for not getting it)

It's not about who makes the phone. It's about how much RAM the device has. Anything under 512MB of ram is, from everything i have read, will not be supported. Things change though, but dont be surprised if we aren't supported by Cyanogen or Samsung.

[Q] Okay. So what the hell is the current status of porting ICS to SGS II?

Can anyone tell me?
Easy man there is a search button it not that hard to find some info.

I never asked when it was coming out. For those of you who can't read, seek assistance. I was asking for a status - is anyone working on it, are there multiple ROMs, etc.
For those of you who told me it is being worked on by codeworkx, thank you - I checked their website and am happy with the progress.

this is a open source project so it will be a collection of roms for multiple device's similar to AOSP & AOKP roms.
tons of people here on XDA can code and theme. Specifics are really cool when starting an OP.

It's a public open project so people are allowed to edit the rom and work on a version for their phone free
also we have intention's on making a GS2 AT&T port but we are working primarily on the Crespo4g (Nexus S 4G) and Maguro (Galaxy Nexus GSM)
Awesome. So I've had to drag out these post in order to pull the details out of you that should've just been in the OP to begin with. heres you're new OP below. you might actually get some people that want to jump in on it.

Depends what you think is hyped, from what I have seen on the ICS TW pdf guide it is everything I expected it to be.
This is a thread about to be closed.
This is now a thread that is closed.
Any questions?
Oh you want to know why? Well, its because we already have a thread dedicated to ICS.
Thanks for stopping by and please try some cake on your way out.

Ice cream sandwich?

Hey Guys!
I'm quite new to android i only got my android on October 29th 2012, and i'm pretty happy with android to be honest i thought it was terrible but turned out fine...
Anyways now on to what i need help with...
I've honestly fallen in love with ICS it just looks so nice...
and i REALLY want the theme / rom to it
but when i look on Cynagon mod or something
It always has bugs
Like example
- Camera not working
- Sound not working
and if there is a FULLY WORKING AND FIXED VERSION could you please post the link?
and if i did upgrade it to ics would i be able to revert back to gingerbread?
Phone details:
Network : Orange
Model Number: GT-S5830i
Phone Name: Samsung Galaxy Ace
Thanks!!!!
No, we still have to wait for the drivers from broadcom. The devs will first build CM7.2 then CM10.1 and then maybe CM9.1. So, it is the best if you use a ics themed stock based ROM.
btw, !!! never flash S5830 ROMs on the S5830i !!!

We are waiting for some files. So, you will have to wait for Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0) and Jelly Bean (4.1&4.2). We currently just have Gingerbread (2.3). But if you still want a Ice Cream Sandwich feeling, you can use a Ice Cream Sandwich themed Stock OS. Just look in the S5830i developement section.

Okay any there any bugs with this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1535536
He told you no!!!
No s5830 ROMs on S5830I
You can see any of the roms from GT S5830i development section...those are themed as ICS and JB.
If you really want ICS or JB...then go to the nearest supermarket and get them to eat.
There is no ICS OR JB don't even download the custom roms they are all full with uselles apps/bugs or the design is ugly my advice... take it or leave it.

Hello, my friend. Giving constructive criticism is allowed, not saying it's crap, it's bad, filled with bugs, etc
If you say it is bad, tell which ROM? If it is bad, why? If so, how can it be improved?
Do you know how much time they waste to create ROMs for our device?
First create one and then tell me how bugfree and beautiful it is
They are the best we can get
And if you think that I speak any wrong thing. Please report me to moderators.
I just talk about rules, and it is duty of of every other member to do so. It is their problem if they do not do so. Why do you think it is forbidden on xda to compare ROMs?
