Hey guys,
I looked everywhere on this site and the internet for the answer, haven't found anything related.
I created a live wall paper from one of my renderings, using a imgae sequence, I am using pngs, not sure if that is an issue, I haven't seen anywhere saying not to.
I have roughly 205 images, and the apk builds with no errors and installs on the emulator, but when going to put it on the screen it is just black.
I am not sure if it is because I used pngs or if I am missing something dumb??
Any ideas??

This could just be because the phone is out of memory. How big is the wallpaper?
Also I'm trying to do the same thing but don't know where to start :-\

The apk is only 15 mb, and I don't think its a memory issue, but I may be wrong.
No body has a clue??
There has to be a simple reason the images are not being rendered............I just can't see it....

When I first noticed the touchscreen issues, I immediately came here. Read all the threads, including the ones about 8-point multitouch, and in one of them, can't remember which, someone posted about having changed the driver to not time out. Is this mod available anymore. I remember the poster saying that the phone was extremely sensitive when you do that mod, but I think I could get used to it.

so i guess it's a no?
I remember about the 8-point multi touch, that was member kennypow3rs! Cannot recall seeing or hearing about the other one. Sorry.
There's a zip you can push through root explorer if you're stock rooted. I'm unlocked on the CM7 rom and it doesn't have that issue anymore and now I have 8 touch points instead of 2.
Ill find the link in a bit and update post.
Found it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1383246
right, i've seen the 8-point zip, i was referring to someone saying they got rid of the error where when you leave your finger in one spot too long, the touchscreen stops responding. say when you're trying to run around in Shadowgun or GTA III. i could have sworn someone said they played with the touchscreen driver to get rid of that time out.

I know. Cm7 fixed that issue and added 8 points.
I spent almost 2 hours last night attempting to do the 8-point thing. I then started on Hennsey and said F* It and watched 2 and 1/2 Men!!!! Cannot remember after that!
I believe the timeout was a necessary evil as the screen freaks out without it.

Hello everyone! Ive been trying to get the original nexus 7 boot animation (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=29225381&postcount=1) to work on the vibrant, no matter what I do it still doesnt work.. Ive tried changing the resolution and fps around to see if maybe that is the issue but to no avail. Im thinking it may have something to do with the amount of pictures in the animation, its around 80+, but i dont know what i can do to fix it, if that is the problem. if anyone knows what i need to do to make it work please let me know.
ps: watch the youtube video in the post on the link above to see which animation I'm talking about, its not the aosp one that ended up shipping with the n7.
thanks for any help you can give!

Im not sure if you mean what i did to try to get it to work or what i did to install it so ill just tell both.
I opened the desc.txt and changed the res to 480 800 and upped the fps to 24 (I even tried it with the default desc.txt numbers and still no luck) then i saved the zip and used root explorer to put it in the system/media folder, and renamed it bootanimation.zip.
When i reboot the phone to see if it works it plays the animation i had before i installed this one, which i dont even understand how it does that since im positive i delete the old bootanimation.zip each time i tried to get it to work.
What ROM are you using? Some ICS ROMs do contain the BA in /system/media.
Wherever it is buried in the ROM, if you drop the N7 BA in /data/local it will supersede the "host" one. Meaning that you can put any BAs in /data/local whenever you want and leave your ROM based BA unadulterated. Why don't you try that and also don't forget to set permissions once you drop it in /data/local.

You're a genius kind sir, thanks for the help. One thing i've noticed is it seems to stutter more then my previous animation, do you know of a way to fix that by chance? Although the animation I had before was smaller and probably way less demanding then this one is, so that could be why its acting up. Im on the most recent Hellybean release

It is probably the reason you think it is. Sometimes when I have a larger BA, it will stutter or freeze/jump to the next frame. But that is the beauty of dropping it in /data/local, is I can swap it out with no worries of messing anything up. Sometimes I drop one in my wifes phone just to mess with her. She's pretty savvy so it doesn't take her long to figure it out and call me up.

You probably did. Bet you'll remember next time it comes around. You can drop all kinds of things in /data/local like Default.props, init scripts, bootanitmations,...and they will all run first before the stock kicks in. But you have to be VERY careful with anything other than BAs.

What can you do with data/local other than BA'S and I'm not tech savvy enough to run scripts and all that stuff.

Wait a minute. Did you just delete your question? Did you get it figured out?
From what I remember of it, just off the top of my head, did you set the permissions. If you forget to do those, it will default to the stock BA. I've also been so frustrated to the point that I was putting the stock one in /data/local when I thought I was putting a new one in there. I had to unzip it to make sure I was doing what I wanted (turned out I wasn't :facepalm
Search Default.prop on google and see what turns up. You can enable/disable Voodoo if you want. Run a ro.secure=0 or =1 which allows you to boot into ADB with or without Root. You can put any persistent props in there to. I think that you can also put in some build.prop tweaks in there to run on boot instead of the "default" build.prop that is stock, but not sure about that one.
^^^^Obviously, if you start messing with these and are not sure what you are doing, make sure you have a Nandroid to restore.
Got it figured out, same problem you had with the copying old one.

Post count only means so much. Look at Xriderx66, he has 5000+ and still asks questions. I ask Q's a bunch still, more so on my tablet than anything else but most of mine are answers or redirects to the answers.
Always a fan of quality over quantity. There is a guy in the Post Your ICS Homescreen that posted yesterday with only 3 posts in 4years. That guy knows how to use the Search button.

There is a wallpaper I have been looking for,for a while now.I have seen pics of a Samsung Note on the internet with it before but I can't seem to find them now.I have found a pic that is similar but I am looking for the one that just says Samsung Galaxy Note.I don't know really if it is a boot screen image, an actual wallpaper or whatever but if anyone has it,I sure would appreciate it being uploaded here. Thanks
that exclamation point is an error symbol for a bad flash. just stick in a rom from another model and you will have that wallpaper.

Ranger, thanks for your hilarious answer. As I already know this is the case with the image I posted up,I have seen images of Notes sporting the same thing without the caution triangle.I just really like the simplicity and look of it as a wall.On a side note,I sent you a pm the other day looking for the video editor that you have(maybe it never went thru)but I have tried several and can't find one that works.I will re-pm you with my email addy. Thanks
I made some myself if anyone would like to use them. Thanks

Huh,thats wierd. Not even in my spam folder. That's a first for me,not receiving something via e-mail.I guess plan b?
I've begin to notice my screen isn't quite calibrated properly, like when i use swype, the line trail is almost always wonky and it doesnt get the word I intended of course.
Also another clear indication for me was when i tried to draw, and it wouldnt draw a straight line lol.
I'm not to fussed if it doesnt get resolved as it's only a temp phone but would still love to get some insight into the problem.
That would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance
What ROM you're using, have you already searched at xda and google?

CM7 and yeah tried google but to no avail and i saw a post here but it was to do with a faulty replacement screen...
If you take at the screen shot each diagonal line was drawn straight (or as straight as possible) and each kink and line which is radiating away from a diagonal line came just by it self :S
and this was drawn with no special brush, just a pencil tool. Mid boggling
online photo sharing
Is this happening on other ROMs too? Have you tried to reflash the ROM? It could be that there was a small flashing error because my screen is working good. If this isn't helping, I don't know...

I'll try another rom today, and no worries thank you for the help anyway. Its quite amusing when im trying to draw lol, i get some weird affects. But a pain when using swype.
Hi all,
I still have an older Samsung Bada-phone with a version 4 OmniROM running on it and I have to say their old boot splash is probably the best I have ever seen, both desktop and mobile.
You can see the one I mean at the end of this video: https://youtu.be/fB0fR81z3Nc?t=493
It's of couse super cute and also quite intelligently made, as it seems the blinking and ear wiggling is randomized (although I'm not sure about that), anyway, it could be.
Since they have a new splash now and this seems to be dying out, I'd like to just "keep it", either for nostalgia or maybe also as an inspiration if I ever need anything similar (I've done some front-end design work in the past).
I've worked a bit on Plymouth splash screens before, but nothing serious, so I don't know where to start on Android. Can somebody tell me how to extract those splashscreen files from the system or where I could find them, considering it's open source anyway?
Kind regards!
Using root, and a root explorer go to /root/system/media and in there should be the bootanimation.zip
Ah! That was very easy, thanks.
And it's also just a series of jpegs, which is a little disillusioning to the whole randomized animation idea, but simpler to work with.
