Hi!
I managed to get my other Android phone working as a Bluetooth mouse. Now, my tp(32gb) has gps. however, I would like to use Navigon. The problem that I'm facing : Navigon needs an imei for verification. Any ideas how I to solve this problem?
Thanks for ur suggestions

well.. first of all.. afaik only 64GB-Touchpad is 4g-capable and therefore should have also GPS included..
I too have a 32GB-Touchpad.. but there is no GPS..therefore previous Facebook-versions FC'ed due to location problems...
why navigon needs the IMEI idk either.. interesting approach though..
but what if you try to tether you'r GPS-signal from your phone to your TP?
maybe if you use your phone's gps you could use the IMEI from your phone?
I suppose you're running Android?
I know you want Navigon, but I have Sygic running on my touchpad (running on Android). I have a bluetooth gps connected with a program Bluetooth Gps Provider. I just have the states I want pre-downloaded to the TP, and the thing works great.
If you were referring to Web-os, then I don't know.
I use Android on my tp. On my mb525 I'm using Navigon and I like it. From this phone I'm tethering the GPS. I will give sygic a try... Might take a while with about 100Kb/s and 2.6gb
But emulating an imei for the tp would be interesting. Any ideas how this can be realized?

afaik emulating imei is illegal?
there was an app for the nook color which generated a fake IMEI from the serial number of the device in order to allow some apps to function. To my knowledge, duplicating an IMEI is illegal but generating a fake one should work.

Hi mates,
I was wondering all navigation programs on HTC Hero need Wifi or Internet connection?
Because there is a charge using mobile internet....
Is there is a solution via GPS like on HTH Diamond I had Destinator and there is not any charge for using it!
Any ideas?
The only one I am currently aware of that doesn't require a data connection for routing is CoPilot but more are in the pipeline. They do require a large amount of SD card storage space though for their maps.

All "turn by turn" navigation programs use GPS - it is the map "source" that can online. Copilot uses the SD card to hold its maps, so it doesn't need a data connection in order to work.
According to Intrinsycs website, the product you refer to, Destinator, is available for Android though I can find no link to purchase it.

Dave
Ok I'm reading to pick up one of these bluetooth GPS receivers and get my nook performing GPS duties. What software package is best? As I understand it, there is also some other little piece of software that I need to get the bluetooth info to port into the GPS software. Any ideas?

I have had success running CM7 on internal memory with CoPilot Live USA ($4.99 from the market) in conjunction with the free Bluetooth GPS Provider app also in the market. You can't beat that--$4.99 for a 7 inch GPS. I've taken it on a 500 mile trip and it performed perfectly. Stay away from Sygic Aura--it doesn't allow for mock locations.

Does CoPilot Live require a data connection, or can one download all the mapsets to SD and run completely offline?

Once you download the maps, you're done. No data connection needed. However, I'm not sure how one would pull GPS location from a device with no GPS onboard?

Read original post, he bought an external GPS blue tooth unit which he connects to the nook.
I just use my phone hooked up through an audio jack. I'm lucky enough to live where I don't have to worry about not having a data signal.
Disregard my previous lack of common sense. I can't see the forest for the trees sometimes. I need to look into this Bluetooth adapter. Sounds convenient.
I also have heard there is an additional bit of software needed for this to work as eluded to in my first post. Anyone know what I'm referring to? I will have to check out that CoPilot software.
You need the Bluetooth gps provider app. It's free in the market.

I was just about to buy this app, but the reviews don't look great. You've had good success? Will Google maps store maps? I thought they had implemented an "offline" feature. Are there any other apps that store maps so you don't need to use data?

Copilot is usable - but it does have a bug that requires a wifi connection when you first enter a street address and it does not call out street names while navigating
Google maps works but u need a wifi connection to download maps while driving

I haven't experienced the bug of having to have the wifi connection on when entering a street address. And as far as not calling out the street names, it does tell you when to take a right (take the next turn right in .3 miles) or left or exit, etc. The street name is displayed on the Nook, so it is quite sufficient. If it called out even the street names what need for the beautiful Nook display?
I use Google Navigator on my phone, same would apply to the NC of course.. Online maps are great until you need to route somewhere when you have no signal.
A few weeks ago I routed to a back-country location, got there no problem. Leaving however, I had no idea how to get back out as I had no cell signal. Had to bust out the old TomTom One from in the trunk.
I haven't looked into CoPilot, but I've heard various bad things about it.. Price is right though, if it's usable. On WM6 I paid lots of money for TomTom + NA maps.
OK, so I bought the CoPilot app, but it just tells my device IMEI number is invalid and won't let me proceed. Any ideas how to get around this?

Well that sucks.. Piracy measure I suspect, and our IMEI is of course fake since it's not a phone.
I've seen others claiming that it's working for them, so I'm not ready to give up just yet.

Calla969,
What were the installation steps you took after you purchased CoPilot live? Was it the CoPilot Live USA version?
What ROM are you using?
Mine installed fine and is working as we speak. I originally installed CoPilot USA on the SD card with experimental bluetooth rom. Then when I switched over to CM7 on internal memory I restored app and data through titanium backup. I'm currently running it on CM7 tablet tweaks RC1. I'm using a Garmin 10x receiver, bluetooth, mock locations, and satellites enabled, GPS bluetooth provider apk.
*** Edit: Found the problem. It is the most recent update from the market. I got the same IMEI number error. Just restoring now with the previous version (8.2.504). Yes, that's it. Works with this version. Maybe there is a way you can get this version of the apk? PM? ***
Pm sent.
I'm running the latest tablet tweaks version of cm7.

Bump. Any suggestions for the best bluetooth receiver to use with the NC? Maybe its time for a NC GPS sub-forum. Just a suggestion?

I doubt any of them would differ... I get the same range on both of mine on phone and NC.... Both of them mere inches on the NC, where I get 3-4 feet using my phone.
Personally I like my two GPSes for different reasons... My Holux 236 for its accuracy and robustness. And my Columbus V900 for its built-in datalogger, albiet it being about 4 meters consistently off from its real location and -80 meters in actual Altitude.
CoPilot USA
I sent a trouble ticket into CoPilot USA when I got the IMEI error. They dropped a new version about 3 days ago that fixed that problem. New version is 8.2.0.590. When I can get Bluetooth talking to my GPS receiver, CoPilot USA does work. (I strongly prefer TomTom but the price is right for CoPilot USA!) My ROM PhireMod 6.0
BLUETOOTH QUESTION: What Bluetooth application do you use? I’ve tried BlueGPS for Android (1.2.1) -Error msg “Too amy connection problems”; Bluetooth GPS (Googoo Android V 0.5.5p1) -Error msg “Service Discovery Failed”; and Bluetooth GPS Provider (Works most of the time – but seems unpredictable). I’m interfacing a Bluetooth GPS receiver.
So, is "Bluetooth GPS Receiver" from Market the best Bluetooth App?

Will this work? My TP won't be here until Tuesday to try it out myself.
GPS over BT: app running on phone, allows phone GPS to act as the GPS receiver, and sends this info over BT to the TP.
Bluetooth GPS mouse: app running on TP, enable "mock locations" in settings.
I would test this with Google Maps, Sygic, etc, running on TP.
This would allow my wifi-only TP to utilize my phone's GPS, much the same way I will use my rooted HTC EVO for its data connection while in a vehicle. If this works, I will be good to go.

Also look at TetherGPS. Works over WiFi, you won't even have to enable Bluetooth. I am using my Epic as a hotspot and it works great.
Yep, that looks like a good one too. However, I think I'd prefer a solution that uses only Bluetooth since I think that will preserve battery life on the phone.

I have just tried this solution on my 10" archos 101. Works like a dream - so much so - I am now second guessing if to get the Prime as this was one of my main uses
I use TASKER app to automate as the solution is a bit 'clunky'
Thanks to the OP who suggested this !
Thank you!

Unfortunately won't work with Galaxy Nexus/ICS
My Android Tablet or phone are having problem connecting to a hidden network.
Set up the hidden network,i see my tablet or are connect to the hidden network but i got no DATA.
My friend IOS(Ipad or Iphone) connect to the same hidden network and everything works fine,my windows laptop work fine too.
Is it a problem with Android or I'm doing something wrong.
Any help?
I don't know about Prime connecting to a hidden network, but if you're disabling your router's SSID broadcast in hopes that it'd be hidden, don't. Any scanner will be able to pick up your router signal, SSID or no. And if anybody wants to get on your wifi, they'd be using a scanner. All you're doing is inconveniencing yourself, like this particular instance.
More here,

This is my company network so I can't change anything on the SSID...

Try this,

Odd, my hidden SSID network at work is fine. Picks it up no problem. By chance do you have a browser redirect on the network?

Just to make sure, you are adding the network manually while not connected to any networks, using appropriate security correct?

I have the same problem with the wireless at my school. It must have something to do with multiple access points that overlap. It will always connect but can't pull any data. Sometimes after you wait for a while it will start working. Very strange.
Windows laptop always works fine.

Could this something in Android OS?

It could be an issue with android that has been overlooked due to the small amount of people who probably connect to a hidden network with an android device.
I have Android-x86 (latest 4.2.2) since 2 days ago. When I connect my network via wifi, it goes blank, so I decided to skip the wifi and disable it. So I found way to connect internet via Huawei USB Dongle and everything goes well but some Google Service dont. After some research I found that using TTY to connect USB Dongle doesn't change the signal bar and leave the signal bar to blank, but I can connect to internet, as I said.
So, my final question:
How I can fake the signal bar ?
sent from my Android Laptop with xda-developers app.
Faking signal bar
I didn't got ur question exactly..
But according to my experience faking is nt that really easy as setting a wallpaper..
You can change your settings using root explorer and editing sim or wifi properties (As I didnt got what you want to fake) to display full 100% strength even when there is no signal..
But first make a nandroid backup..

I think this one is not possible. The possible is removing the google play link to an specific apps but you need to be root your phone and use lucky patcher but the problem is... not all apps link to google play are supported with lucky patcher...

Any news on this?
Similar to AngSanley, I want to use Google based apps like navigation on a 'non-standard' internet connection, a bluetooth internet connection (via Blue VPN). Unfortunately, Google based apps or some of the non-Google ones that check for either wifi or 3G / GSM internet connection, (like TuneIn Radio) refuse to work with it.
I need to fake an established wifi or 3G / GSM internet connection to get them working. The only Google based app that works with my bt connection is Google Play. Many other non-Google apps that obiously aren't set to check for such a 'standard' internet connection are working fine.
In my opinion, Google should remove this really senseless inconveniece. This is a limitation in fact.
