I am wondering if an one has tried both cases? I checked different sites and most have different measurements for the commuter. Currently I own the tough case but would like to try the commuter if it's not any larger. I have a Nite Ize holster and the Case Mate fits perfect.
Thanks

I have the commuter series outerbox for the i9100 and it fits my i777 perfectly.
Ordered mine yesterday on amazon for dirt cheap.... Can't wait to get it!
Is the noise cancelling mic next to the headphone jack covered with the i9100 commuter case?

I have the commuter series case. It fits excellent. It does cover the noise mic, however I did not modify the case yet. But I have not noticed any issues to date. I use my phone daily and a lot.

There is a fairly large hole right next to the headphone jack cover. It may not be a 100% aligned but its a decent size hole which should serve the purpose.
Thanks for the replies but I'm trying to figure out if the commuter is similar in size to the Tough Case. It will be in a holster while I work and the Tough case fits perfectly. A customer posted a video on amazon showing that the commuter does have the holes for both mics. I love my tough case but like how the commuter covers all the ports.
I have the case mate pop and its just a tad smaller than my wifes Iphone 4 Otterbox Defender. Otterbox puts it at 16.77 mm thick. From the pictures it looks like the tough case is also a bit thinner than the pop because its form fitting. The cate mate pop is not form fitting, the back is completely flat. The Otterbox commuter is 14.80 mm thick so i'm guessing my case mate pop will be thicker.
i'm looking forward to the commuter because it protects the front a bit. So when it falls it will luckily strike that first and the raised sides. Its a given that otterboxs are lint magnet, i'm surprised because my caste mate is not. The shiny back does however drive me nuts, ITS UGLY!

I am hoping that mine comes in today. The only bad thing about cheap sellers with free shipping can be the delivery.
I hate not having any type of tracking.

I decided to up and order one of these myself. I don't make enough calls to care about that stupid mic anyways...lol
I just got mine I in today and I'm wondering if there's a hip case that this would fight on?
If you guys do care about the second mic, Otterbox does make an I777-specific Commuter case. I have one. Here's the link. Might be more expensive since you'd be buying it from them directly at full price and because it's hard to find, but I think it's worth every penny anyway, over a year and still going strong.
Bought my otterbox commuter case off of Amazon about a month ago for 20usd and am very happy with it. Have had no problems with any functionality from it.

I just purchased the Seidio Active case from Amazon. This is the site. When I ordered from Amazon, I made sure to get the same product ID number. It should arrive next week. I'll let you know how it is.
Jim
Received the case today. I have never owned a Seidio case before. It is the Active case. To fit the phone in, you have to remove the hard plastic exo-skeleton from the soft rubbery case. You then slip the phone into the soft rubbery case and then fit the exo-skeleton around that. It fastens at each corner and in the middle of the long sides.
The microphone hole at the top is about half covered by the soft rubbery case. I think I can make the hole bigger with a paper clip or something sharp. The bottom microphone hole is perfect. The plastic exo-skeleton has a bit of a rubbery grip to it. It doesn't slide into my pocket as easily as the old silicon case I had.
The thing that bothers me the MOST is the lip around the phone face. It sits fairly high off the screen of the phone. It's irritating to hit the space bar on the keyboard when in landscape mode. Of course, I'll get used to it. It's definitely better than the silicon case from Worst Buy. I just wish that Speck made a candyshell case for this phone. It'd be an instant purchase for me.
Just got mine from eBay. I had o e for my cappy and loved it

Good luck, I used an Innocase on my Captivate and was rewarded with a lot of scratches and scuffs on the body of the phone.
With cases like these, you should occasionally take them off to clean out the dust that gets trapped in and causes those scuffs.

I don't know. I'm guessing no, since most other cases don't have the room. I'm also not sure how this phone could get scratched due to dust between the case and the phone. The case is soft rubber, so it's unlikely to get scratched. I'm still trying to get used to putting this in my pocket. haha

So I discovered that my voice sounds muffled when I have the case on. I removed the case and sounded better. So I guess I have to adjust the hole in the soft rubber. Not sure how best to do it.

Get a small screw driver/normal sized nail and heat it up on the stove or with a lighter. Works great. Just be quick so that rest of the plastic doesn't start to melt.

I actually took a clicker pen, and 'unfolded' the soft silicon over a piece of paper on a plastic cutting board. I placed the hole of the clicker pen over the spot I wanted to "punch out." I twisted both the pen and paper/silicon case combination until it popped out the piece I wanted. It worked amazingly well. I didn't want to use heat as I didn't want the case to look melty. If I had a pen with a metal clicker end (instead of plastic) I could have repeated the procedure again. The secondary mic is not between the I9100 and I777 holes, it's more to the right of those holes. Either way, it's working much better now.
As far as a screen protector...I've had no issues with them not fitting or needing to be modified so that it would fit.

I ordered a couple of these, should be here in a few days.
I got them off of Ebay instead of Amazon, $20 with free shipping for the black one, $23 shipped for the burgundy one.
I'm not sure I'm very happy with this case. I can't talk on the phone without someone telling me I sound muffled and 'far away'.
Well I should be receiving mine today in the mail I hope I don't have the same problems but if I do I'm a tear that whole wide open so that it gets good sound LOL...
Which hole do you think is the culprit the one by the upper microphone or the lower microphone?

I'm starting to think it's both. I'll make my bottom mic hole larger a little later. Something sure is funky.
My girlfriend got hers several days ago, mine is caught up in shipping. I have not noticed any muffled sound from her phone. She sounds crystal clear. She's running a stock SGSII with this case and no screen protector (doesn't come with one unfortunately).
Got my case today I'll have my 3 cents in a few days....

Has anyone tried the new Rearth Slim cases? I am considering buying it. I can't post links because i don't have enough posts, but just search Rearth
http://www.rearthusa.com/Galaxy-S-2-ATT-Ringke-Slim-_p_279.html
there's the link for anyone else who wants to take a look.
I haven't tried this one so I can't help you but I figured i would post the link for you.
ive had it since mid october...it was the closest to incipio because they didnt have a case out yet...its all i need...slim..one rubber piece..easy on and off...does the job for me...id go for incipio though..theres comes with screen protectors
I've had the rearth case for about 2 months, I like it except when I got it it was slightly loose not enough for me to care but now its loosened to the point where the case is starting to cover the camera and if I push it up the mic and lower speakers are halfway covered
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
@nizda1:
Are you talking about the Ringke or the Ringke Slim? I have both. The Ringke is soft and pliable. I can see it loosening up. The Slim is quite rigid and snaps onto the corners of the phone. The top and bottom are covered, along with the corners, but the sides are exposed down to the controls. This is quite a slim case!
Yea I was, just checked out the slim looks nice, how do you like it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777
Ooo, I kinda like this one! Can make our black units, pretty much white and it covers the whole back! But $25...
I've had it on since since day 1. Love it.
I like it better than anything I've tried to date. It's about the "least" amount of case that I've seen. About the only thing that I would change is that being glossy, the back is beginning to show some very minor scratching from being set down on hard surfaces. If Rearth offered it in a matte finish I'd be all over it.
Just bought that case in Noble Black. Will review it upon arrival.
i have used this case and the SGP Neo.
This case is excellent. It's as minimal as can be, fits well, and looks good.
Good case!
Good to hear fellas.
It'll be here tomorrow, according the tracking from the shipping. Anything I ever ordered that goes through the post service always arrives the day after it goes through this one center.
Is it a little sad that I'm mildly excited for this to come?

Nice find!
Just a quick question to anyone who actually has the case -- does it cover the top mic next to the headphone jack, or is the cutout correct for our version?

This, along with their newer silicone case for the i777 are supposed to have the correct placement for the noise cancelling microphone.
Just got mine in. It does have the mic cut out next to the headphone jack.
Just got mine. Overall I'm digging it. Case is thin and probably doesn't offer much in the way of protection buy that's the price to pay for looks. It being black shiny hard plastic I already see two scratches. Just got to make sure not have the case in the same pocket as my keys and ill be good.
So after dropping my phone and cracking the entire screen and then dropping the replacement, I decided to get a bumper with a less slick clear back.
The only downside to the bumper is that the cut out where the charging port is isn't wide enough to allow for the charger to fully connect. Maybe I'm being lazy but I'd like to avoid taking the bumper on and off everytime I hook it up to a charger.
With all that being said, is there a way to stretch the hole without making the bumper look all ghetto?

Do you have a very fresh (sharp) Xacto knife or similar? Not a boxcutter, but a hobby knife that has a new edge. That would cut the hole bigger... I put a hole in the Galaxy S2 cases my parents got last week because the cases had the upper mic holes in the wrong place -- presumably why they were so cheap. I used a Dremel and a hot paperclip. Looks okay.
There's also using a custom tip on a soldering iron, but you run the risk of really damaging the case. Maybe a vinyl cutting tool from a hobby store (but then you're investing $$$).
I'll try out the xacto blade idea. And, actually, the 3.5mm jack cutout needs to be a bit wider.
I don't understand why they don't just make the cut outs larger in the first place.

Who drops their $700 phone twice and buys a thin ass baby case for their phone??
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I717 using xda premium
Well, Ray, although it's very rare that I drop phones, this phone is just very slick. And dropping it albeit being bad isn't the end of the world since I have Best Buy insurance.
And, honestly, I don't really like cases. Sooo...I went with minimal.

After dropping the phone twice I would consider getting a more protective case such as the Impact Case:

I had that case for my LG Thrill. It's a great case. My wife knocked my Thrill off the dinner table and the dang thing bounced off the tile and back up to a chair. It was pretty awesome.
The bumper I have now covers teh sides and has enough lip on the front that the screen won't hit from a fall. I think that case though would add a ton of bulk to this phone. I know it made my Thrill seem reallly big.
But I do appreciate the suggestion.
Yes I had to cut the USB charge hole on mine as well.

So I'm gonna upgrade to the HTC droid DNA in two weeks and have been trying to look for cases to buy for it. I saw a couple good ones that I'll most likely get but I'm a little bit bummed that there's not that many cases out there for the DNA.I've looked at amazon and eBay and both of them are selling about the same cases as the other kinda wish there was more selection cases for this phone..
But..all in all I'm excited to upgrade to this phone
I got the one they sell at the Verizon store its pretty nice got a kickstand. I don't use the holster.

I'm really, really happy with my seido surface. It's pretty thin and doesn't hide the sleek shape of the phone, but it still protects the screen somewhat and I feel like my phone is safe using it.
I'm thinking if getting the incipio feather case http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00AMAJCTS/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1361761617&sr=8-1&pi=SL75 trynna look for the cheapest place I can get it though either that or the diztronic case http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A9YJ48Q/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1361761751&sr=8-1&pi=SL75
Or maybe this http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00A7HYB3S/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1361762044&sr=8-3&pi=SL75 its an aluminum sticker like that covers the whole phone I'd figure this can act as my case at the same time keep the full feel of the slim design of the phone

Free if anyone in the Bay Area wants to teach me how to root the DNA.
I got the Seidio surface case too, I dont like the form factor as much as the Feather, the feather is more stylish IMO, the color on the Seidio is clearly superior but the case is thicker so it adds more bulk. I wish the feather came in red.
One thing to make sure on DNA when purchasing a case is that it has a hole on back so you can see the rear notification light....a lot of cases on the market don't have the extra hole...

I realize this case is two pieces, a silicone piece and an outer hard shell. Is this hard shell metal or plastic? This case looks amazing, I've been eyeballing the red and black one to match the phones aesthetics, but the price is kinda steep. Thanks
Also one last thing, how much space is left around the headphone jack? My headphone jack has a wide plastic surrounding that doesn't allow me to insert the headphones all the way into the port while the case is on.
---------- Post added at 06:33 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:14 PM ----------
The first case I got was the Diztronic. This was an excellent case, very very snug, it looks great and provides great protection. I also use a screen protector and I found out that the Diztronic fit so snug that it pushed up the edges of the screen protector. If you cut the corners of the screen protector this can remedy this problem. Another issue I found with the Diztronic was the headphone jack. I use Shure SE215 headphones, the jack input is very wide. With the case on the headphones wouldn't stay fully inserted. I did however find it very easy to cut the case around the headphone jack to allow the input to stay seated properly.
I've moved on to the Body Glove Dropsuit, this case is awesome. Like the Diztronic, it looks great, provides superior protection, allows access to the power and volume keys very easily (almost too easy), microphone and speaker cutouts and allows me to use an edge to edge screen protector. I've been using this case for several weeks now.
Note that both the Diztronic and the Body Glove DO NOT have a cut out for the notification light on the back of the phone.
Hope this helps!
Seidio Surface
I got the Seidio Surface case in black (not gonna worry about photos, I'm sure several exist on here or the web), and I am overall happy with it. It fits very nicely, doesn't add a lot of bulk, and all features are visible (lights and stuff).
One thing I am very happy about is the fact that it makes the power and volume buttons a little harder(?) to press. This makes me less likely to inadvertently run the ringtone volume down to silent just by picking up the phone, and I can put it into my backpack or lunch bag without pressing the power button and turning the screen on.
One slight irritation is that it caused the screen protector - which completely covers the screen - to bubble up on the edges where the case touches the screen edge, but that is minor - I could just trim the screen protector a little, if I was so inclined...
I like this case.
- Shane
I have the Otterbox defender. No worries about the safety of my phone. It also feels thin because it's way thinner than my old bionic case.
