We don't know when it will come to India. As for for further upgrades to flyer, I firmly believe we will not see ice cream sandwich from HTC for flyer. So I took the plunge. Though I was not too much in mood of going this way, but I wanted to have honeycomb on my flyer, and just could not resist.
I have switched off auto update reminder on my tablet for the time being.

Sad sad really sad
Hello I have HTC flyer and I flashed it with flyhigh ROM v1.2 can I flash it with other ROM to upgrade it to honeycomb ? And second thing wot all more hacks r included in flyhigh ROM.
In case you guys are sick of waiting for it, I'll make this easy for you.
This is how to s-off and upgrade.
Guide by globatron: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1358758
I suggest this rom by leedroid after that : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1406851
PS: You take full responsibility shall you follow those guides. Whatever you do, me or the devs bear no responsibility. Also, this will void your warranty.
PS2: And to answer the reply about it being worth it to upgrade to honeycomb, that depends. I find honeycomb generaly more responsive on flyer. It also has that "tablet feel" to it. Also, pen pressure support = win.
PS3: Oh and, shall you follow any of those guides, please, READ THE ENTIRETY OF THEM.

I'm glad they didn't leave you guys out in the cold on this one. Although many ppl would rather use GB, I find the stylus infinitely better with HC. Hopefully we will ALL see an ICS release on day , I am happy with my HC View in the mean time.
Congratulations to all of you! I can feel you! I waited for two long months before I decided to go the root way and I am a happy HC user for 4 months now! There are more HC apps optimized for Scribe Pen and you can run lot of other tablet optimized HC only apps as well! So Cheers and have fun!

Interesting but why does it say Flyer HC? We haven't seen that upgrade yet. At this point though it totally makes sense to skip it and go straight to ICS, although I never believed they would do that.

I've reread this several times, and I really don't understand your point here.
HC update to be released some time in December seems pretty clear to me ie. not yet released.
ICS may be officially released, but adapting it for the device is going to take time. They can't just shoehorn it into the Flyer without checking to see that it's working properly or there'll be a ****storm of complaints. Just be happy we're finally getting HC officially.
first of all, I can't understand a single word from that post, then, did it say anything about view 4g? Honeycomb update as well?

Yeah, ICS if you are willing to wait another 6 months for HTC to build and test that, which most people are't even willing to wait another week.

No, they don't have the view in Turkey.
It's a word for word translation so doesn't read well.
In somewhat proper English it would say something like this:
HTC Incredible S: update planned for release by 10 December. Contents: Sense 3.0, Android 2.3.5
HTC Wildfire S: update planned for release by 10 December. Contents: Android 2.3.5, lock screen update.
HTC Flyer 3G and Wi-Fi: Honeycomb update release planned for December.
HTC Salsa: update planned for system, Twitter update and Wi-Fi improvements
HTC ChaCha: update planned for system

So looks like we need a Turkey GB RUU then we can keep clicking check for system update for HC come out
and people, check out the XDA-Wiki, there is Sprint View 4G HC Manual, help you how to use HC on View LOL
We already have a leaked release WWE for HC on the flyer. That is what my thread in DEV is based on. So it shouldn't be long before it rolls out.
I'm getting the Flyer for Christmas, does this mean that I can skip out on custom HC ROMS and just go straight to the official update? Dang, if the Flyer gets HC officially, I might not even need to bother with rooting or anything... except it will still have Sense UI, more likely than not...
You probably could, but I would strongly advise doing the S-OFF procedure first.

I have read through a few forum posts and done some searching, yet never found an answer to the following question:
- If the HTC View 4G is just going to be used as a WiFi tablet, with no intentions of running on Sprint, can HTC Flyer ROMs be loaded on the device?
In other words, if I don't care that the 4G or carrier capabilities are lost, can those ROMs still be loaded? Or could they be stuck on Gingerbread forever?
The reason I ask is because I purchased two of the View 4Gs as Christmas presents because of killer deals this week. I know both recipients will be all about rooting and ROMing.
Thanks all!

Thank you for the links. That at least answers the question with a NO.
Besides the fact that it is no, I am not seeing why that is? The linked post asked a great question as to what was different, but I don't see that answered. If it is really technical then fine...could someone break it down for me at a high-level?
I would assume that this is because of the CDMA and WIMAX radios built in?
As far as I understand what you stated is correct. There is one rom for the view atm

Search a little harder and you'll find a post from me sometime in the last week were I listed the reasons.
Thank you globatron. I saw one of your posts had this:
"...there are hboot, partition, address space, boot offsets and a few other things that are different. It's simply not feasible without a HC compatible view hboot."
I also saw in the same thread that it appears that HC will release for the View at some point soon. Given your comment above, once an official source comes out from HTC, does that mean that it might be possible in the future? Just no promises?
It sounds like it would depend on how HTC went about developing the View HC source in relation to how the Flyer HC source was developed.
Interesting stuff.
The list of honeycomb reasons is the same as the list of differences between the two and the reasons for a flyer rom not working on a view.
I can say for certain that the ROMs will still not be cross-flashable under hc.
OK, thank you!
I just ordered HTC View 4G 32G (Sprint) is that HTC Flyer? I want to install HC or better yet ICS is anyone of that available yet?
Android 5.0.1 Licorice Cane is out for android tablets!!! take that one!
seriously, if you just read the previous topics in the Flyer/View forum, you´ll see that Honeycomb is out for most of view oweners. ICS is prolly not going to be available in at least 6-8 months.
go under settings, do search for software uptade and see if HC is available for you..
hit the thank you button
When your View arrives, if its not HC already, its going to automatcially prompt a new firmware is available and will download then install.
ICS is not out yet =/
EDIT: information below is obsolete. Please check the last few pages of the topic for recent development progress.
What is known:
Jetstream uses MSM8x60 processor (is this same as msm8660?)
What we need to know:
What GPU.
Other similar HTC devices running on the MSM8x60.
Stable and most developed kernel compiled from source.
Stable HC Rom for donor Rom.
Bluetooth SoC
WiFi SoC
GPS SoC
HC kernel source base address (if I compile my own kernel from HC sources)
More useful info you guys can come up with.

This thread is NOT for saying thanks 'little guy', hopes, general ranting about HTC or flamefights.
I need some pieces of info now, so that we can start doing stuff. I need some good internet trawlers for this to work,so anyone who can help please do, as I have time constraints due to developing for the Flyer all while having to stay at the top of my class.
Options in getting ICS:
Porting (preffered for now)
Building from Source
I prefer porting for now as building from source will be difficult as a GB kernel source is not present unlike the Flyer.

Hi,
Nice to see you get started. Well this is what I could gather.
1. Msm8x60 processor is a series of processors which has variants - Msm8260 and msm8660. Jetstream uses a variant called APQ8060. It's used by HTC Vivid, Samsung Galaxy Tab LTE, SGS II (SGH T989), HP Touchpad, Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4G, LG Nitro HD, Le Pan II.
2. It's using an Adreno 220 GPU as far as I could gather
3. DoomKernel is the only kernel I gather out here. It works well but some users have faced glitches on it with the overclocking and voltage changing settings.
4. I feel galaxy task 650 v2 is the most stable rom-I did face problems with v3. Osimood also seems to work well but haven't had more than 3 days with it running so can't comment on stability.
5. The kernel source base addresses I think were posted elsewhere. Will check and get back.
6. I don't know how to check out the SoC things. If you can direct me what I must do to check them, I will and get back asap. Even the kernel source base address if any way I can check, do guide and it will be done.
If any of the above information is wrong, I am sorry and will try to correct it as soon as I learn of the mistake.

The HTC Vivid, seems to have exactly all same internal component, expect the screen resolution and the stylus
And ICS is also available for it.
While doing some research about phones, came across an interesting fact. The HTC One S has very very similar specs as the Jetstream. It runs on a Qualcomm MSM8260A Snapdragon processor and runs GPU of 225 Adreno. I think only the GPU is different as Jetstream is on the Adreno 220 GPU. Could this be useful in helping us port ICS to the Jetstream? Of course, no pen and screen resolution vary - else they seem very similar.
OK, I've checked out the Vivid and know about the One S, but for now, I am going with a Vivid ROM. As I don't have a Jetstream, I'll be needing a someone's Ubuntu box (someone who has developed/cooked etc. before hopefully) with Remote Access and the Jetstream connected via usb.
I need the following specs on your computer(if anyone is willing):
Atleast Dual-Core CPU (Quad-Core preferred)
Atleast 2GB RAM
About 5 GB of free space
Ubuntu 64bit (12.04 preffered)
Cross-compile toolchain installed(but OK if you don't have it)
Minimum 1MB/s Internet speed
Unlimited Internet usage preferred, but 2GB usage reqd. minimum
Jetstream attached via USB
If you guys do have a computer matching these specs, PM me or write here. Hopefully we will be able to get something out of it.
I would definitely offer but I don't have a pc to match even the minimum config. You planning on getting a Jetstream by any chance?

Mine is a P4 3Ghz, 2GB RAM, WinXP. I guess Ubuntu will work but will have to get it. Hard disk and internet not a problem.
And the ICS bounty has reached a $350 mark. You get a refurbished Jestream for $299.99 at http://www.all4cellular.com/product/htc-jetstream-32gb-refurbished.html if you interested in taking up the bounty. They send it with a shiping charge of $41 off. In all comes to $341.54. So you interested? Also, only drawback from that site is no scribe pen-but as you have a Flyer, the same pen will work.

Thanks for the advice. If you people want me to carry on the work, someone will need to collect the bounty, buy the Jetstream and ship it to my address as I am a tad inconvenienced without PayPal,etc. being 13 and all.
Also, I'll feel bad if I do get the Jetstream and can't manage to get ICS on it, as its a long and complex process, and end up disappointing you guys or something like Drew Garen in the Flyer forums who got a free Flyer and was in fact a scammer.

Oh ok. I will do 1 thing. If you don't get someone by the 24th, I will try arranging for something for the system. I got an exam on 24th and after that I would be able to spare time and try getting something set up for you. Hope that would be acceptable. If someone else can do it before that well and good. Regarding bounty etc, if you get it working on the Jetstream, then perhaps someone would be able to do it for you. I just realised that there is post saying bouty would be given after ics is working.
Another question if you don't.mind. a user has a S-OFF device. I was wondering if we could use his device as a model and try getting s off for the others? Because in my understanding, having s off would be an advantage and it would surely speed things up for development. Would such a thing be possible.

Thanks! Hopefully you can get me the Jetstream. I don't need the bounty/donation or anything, just the device.
About the S-OFF device, that guy doesn't have it anymore, though it would help for ICS . A ENG Hboot or factory S-OFF is not very useful for getting S-OFF on factory locked devices, except for perhaps hard flashing(JTAG) the hboots onto the target device.

And I meant that I will be able to set up the system with the uplink and stuff after the 14th - just in case you misunderstood that i will be able to get you a device without the bounty-sorry. The bounty will cover a device for you if you manage to get ics running on the jetstream.
Will PM the guy with an S-OFF device and get back to you with that.
Development started!
So not to get your hopes up or anything but, development has started!
I provided mhkabir98 de needed Ubuntu box, and unlock jetstream.
We are currently trying to port a Vivid ICS rom to the Jetstream and get it booting using Doomlord's kernel.
AS I said, don't get your hopes up this is VERY early stage..
But mhkabir98 seems capable enough with his Flyer ICS rom.
And the ubuntu box + jetstream are good enough
Great news! Just saw an ics asus today..got me jealous.
Just one request if I may, the doomlord kernel is known as problematic, for some of us it crashes the device. If its possible, I would ask to avoid using it, or trying to fix the known issues.
Hopefully this will go well. Goodluck, and thanks.

So excited to see this! I hope this works out!!! I do agree on the Kernel. I'm currently running latest Task with stock kernel and works very well. Hope I can still use that kernel.
We are first trying to get it to boot,
After this we will focus on getting everything else to work,
When everything works we will try to get it as stable as possible
We are first trying the DooMLord kernel, and if that works we will ofcourse also try the Stock kernel.
We can't say for sure if everything will work out as we intend, but we will try our bests, it's my first time at rom building so pklease have patience.
Thanks for your co-operation!

That would be really really amazing. Any help always welcome/
And can't wait for your ICS Flyer ROM either.
Hello, first post
Now I have an HTC flyer and that means I am stuck with HC firmware or perhaps maybe GB.
There are a lot of fully functional customized HC ROMS out there, however when it comes to ICS or JB
most of them are buggy and never fully functional.
I am not a developer so I don't think that I have the right to criticize, however from what I see
many developer start an ICS or JB Flyer ROM and than just leave it.
It would be great if you people create some sort of a joint effort and make one stable and functional rom for the flyer.
Some would say just leave the flyer and buy yourself a Nexus or whatever but the thing is there are countries in this world where we can;t afford to just give up on a device and spend money on another one.
So what I would like to have is either an ICS or JB ROM where everything would be functional, however I could live without:
(and these are features that are already not working on the present ICS/JB roms)
-bluetooth
-front camera
-youtube HD (but only HD if regular youtube is missing is not OK)
-videorecorder (however this would be disappointing)
But It wold be awesome if Phone is implemented and Pen (Quill is acceptable also)
So far best ICS ROMS are Yetki (where only problem I had was that wi-fi was not functioning even with manual flashing of the boot.img)
Also another new ROM is this one NexusFlyer in this ROM everything works (except for the above features) but I am not sure if there's a Phone function and the screen rotating is buggy.
So what are you willing to donate towards the developers' efforts? The "you people" in question have lives and families and jobs that require their attention on a daily basis. These ROMs are hobbies for them.
Their works are just voluntaty works.
They don't have any obligation to make roms for us.
They've already done and are doing many things for us, more than HTC
I understand it's a voluntary work and a hobby for most of them, but since they are already doing it, how abot making something that truly benefits people.
HTC has done a horrible job when it comes to the flyer and now we're either stuck woth HC albeit slightly modified, or waiting for the developer community to make something usefull.

I actually wouldn't mind learning how to create a JB or ICS, stable, ROM for the View and Flyer, since there really isn't any. At least for myself.
Where would one start reading?

Their works are just voluntaty works.
They don't have any obligation to make roms for us.
They've already done and are doing many things for us, more than HTC

Honestly I don;t remember but I think that my phone worked OK, although I didn;t really tested all that well, because
WI-FI wasn' working on my tablet.
There will be an update to the Yetki tommorow (friday) or the next day. From what I saw on the thread
mic/sound issues will be addressed in the update.

Just stop right there. If the devs want to stop developing a ROM, that's their choice. You think what they have done has not truly benefited the people?
It has benefited people no doubt aboit it. Just not in this case, when it comes to the flyer they did better than HTC but I don't see any benefit in using any ICS based Flyer rom, rather than a HC custom rom.
It's complicated simce the Flyer has the scribe technology built in, notes, the e-book reader where you can scribble just like on real paper, front camera, back camera, I understand that it's complicated and maybe it takes time maybe it can not be done.
I don't understand what's with all this negative interpretation of my post, it should be an incentive that we are here we use this device and we would like to see it better.
Also I am not asking the developers to waste time on something useless, I don't need yet another partialy functional ROM, just stop right there say 'we can't do it,it's impossible' and move on to something that will perhaps benefit someone else, some other device. They are developers, it's what they do.

thx for u'r answer, that different with my tablet, Wi-fi and tethering working fine.
yups.. I be waiting for the update, hope today he update this ROM.
Hey, we are not their employer or their customer.
Whether they stop the development, move to other device or etc., it is just their choice.
If they think something is important, they try to do their best to make it work.(Actually, they do now.)
You don't see any benefit on their ICS rom? Just go back HC or give some useful feedback to them.
using :
HTC Flyer ICS yetki
HTC Desire MIUI ICS
It looks like Yetki is getting an update reały soon as in it only needs to be uploaded and shared, can't wait to test it! I loved it even the first time except wi-fi wasn't working, hoping theu will fix it in the update

IF you really want to develop ICS /JB fully functional ROMs for the HTC Flyer , start by learning how to build the kernel. What we are missing right now is a JB kernel for the Flyer, once that is done, its possible to begin CM10 and other variants of JB. However, be aware that building the kernel and the libs (drivers) for HTC devices can be difficult because not everything is open source.
We can't all be developers, I don't think learning how to build ROMs is as easy as the last few comments made it look. I am assuming some programmers would have a hard time doing so if they haven't had any experience into it let alone ppl that don't code. :/

for active wi-fi connection try to rollback to HC ROM (I try use leedroid and fastboot flash boot boot.img event I'm not use s-off from htcdev) after running fine, back to recovery full wipe, and upgrade to Yetki ROM without fastboot *.img file again. test running and wi-fi can active again. for tethering just install easytether.
CMIIW
Thanks I will try that.
Does it have to be a HC ROM because right now I am on Dexter's JB port and If I don't have to I'd skip a flash
