just wondering if someone could tell how to get it so my phone shows sms's and email like the pic in atriarc.... the way it almost looks like a widget? thank you for your help

You can flash dead horse over overstock, but you need to do the following before flashing:
1. Ensure voodoo lagfix is disabled and then do a full reboot
2. nandroid backup
3. BACK UP your WHOLE sd card to a pc. this is crucial as dead horse has a habit of completely wiping your SD.

Other then the OverSlock logo at boot up time and Info tab in SetCpu, you don't see it anywhere else. The 1 indicator to look for is total RAM = 341Mb.
Awsome thanks guys. Ya i figured out the sms wigets looks great i like it alot. Is deadhorse better then overstock?

since u already have recovery installed just download the clockowrk mod 3.1.0.0 from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1065197 |transfer the file to ur sd card and flash the zip from recovery reboot |Done! u have the latest recovery installed
as far as rom is concerned cm7 is all time favorite for most
here is the installatin procedure http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038338 using clockwork whch wrk the best njoy just avoid the sd partition step if u dont want a2sd stuff or read the specific rom installation instruction which requires parttioning sd card, cm7 can be installed without partitioning ur sd

No need to wipe anything.
Backups are always handy. But be aware that backup done by amonra or cwm are not compatible to each other. That means backup taken by any recovery will only be restored with same recovery.

You have to toggle signature verification off from recovery. I hope u have that on thunderg. The zip is not signed.

That zip file is for amonra recovery which doesn't have an option for formatting system. In cwm recovery, you have the format system option.
Flashing doesn't lead to bricking normally.
And all custom roms are always rooted.

go to cyanogenmod settings and there is something like interface (i don't know exactly, because i don't have it in phone right now), but you can certainly change icons in the notification area.
Settings>CM Settings>Interface>Notification Power Widget>Many options>Enjoy.
thanks solved the network issue.. but as i tried to open the market it just popup for a second and close .. so unable to download anything from market...btw is it ok to flash franco.kernel v14 with cm7 .. do i need to wipe anything before flashing?
no. I just flashed. you can wipe cache+dalvik if you want. check for two files mentioned in franco's thread. if you have them, You HAVE to delete them before flashing. if you dont, just flash. you need setCPU to change the CPU freq coz CM OC screen does not display at the moment. battery and smoothness is great.

Are those two files to be deleted are meant for everyone or for those who have previously flashed Franco kernel?

So it eventually booted and you got a force close? If so, that's strange, never experienced that.
If you get stuck again just reflash the rom without wiping data. It will restore the kernel that came with the rom.

You flashed it right. I had issues with a Chingy gingerbread ROM doing that same thing. No idea why. I think it might have something to do with the base. Not real familiar with that BAMF ROM. I had a little luck flashing a different kernel. Sometimes my only option was to wipe and restore. What kernel are you trying to use?
yeah, like it came up with the force close window but never went through a boot screen nor did it boot to the rom, but you can see that the screen is on. but it says black than the force close window pops up but doesnt allow you to select either of the options

Hello, i had the same problem as u do. But cool ICS has saved me. I have installed Cool Ics V11 and have his kernel V1.7. Also I`m s-on, unlocked by htc dev. Just follow his instruction how to install the rom. When u finish with installing the rom u need "flash image GUI" app that u will use to flash the kernel. u can find the post about it but its not complicated to use. When u finish that u can use "System Tuner" or "System Tuner pro" to configure your system performance... I de-clock-ed my cpu a bit, set minimum freq to 192 mhz loaded the Gov. that says powersawer; all that u can finde whan u click on cpu icon... u can experiment and see what is the best for your usage....

Hi, I`m also s-on, unlocked by htc dev and have a bit old Firmware. Cool ics works for me. I flashed the v11 rom, got boot loops, tried to fix them by flashing boot.img via fastboot from v11 rom and it did not work so i tried to flash boot.img from v7 rom and it worked i`m telling you all this because it may happen to you just in case to be prepared if u decide to flash. when you install the rom then you need "flash image gui" to flash the kernel. I am using Cool-ICS since I find it the only most complete ROM without any major bugs. Its kernel v1.9 has just been released and I can vouch for it that the battery life has only become better. You don't need to be s-off to install this one. Just update your phone to the latest hboot and firmware, unlock it via HTCdev method (that's actually the easy method and which I used as well). Download the Cool-ICS ROM and its latest kernel separately. Do a nand backup in 4ext. Use super wipe (optional) to wipe everything. Flash the ROM first and after booting up first check the kernel version. Then go into recovery again and flash the latest kernel for the ROM.
Cheers.

To install cm10 you need root access, go check cfroot by chain fire. Gapps is basically your Google now etc. With a custom recovery, just flash the cm10 and Gapps and you'll be good to go.
Stock kernel is subjective with very little difference. All kernels work for me so it's not so much of an issue deciding which is better.
The best rom is the one you try for yourself. Rom comparisons are not allowed on xda
Latest stock will be depending on whether you want android version 4. 1.1 or 4.0.4
Wrong section btw, should be posted in the q&a

You can safely ignore that error.
CWM in the apps drawer is the UI interface of the CWM recovery (accessed by pressing the Vol Up+Home+Power when booting up). CWM recovery works without a hitch.

All options are there when you boot into recovery, it is just the app that is incompatible, meaning a couple of the options won't work directly from the app....you need to boot into recovery to do those things.....don't worry, it's all there.
I personally prefer the older recovery as it doesn't use the blob method of backing up. And I'm used to the old way!
