[Q] Changing display brightness with Chainfire3D emulation - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, so I managed to get CF3D plugins and get some tegra games off the market... Now the problem is when I launch a game that goes through CF plugin, the display brightness is automatically ramped up to max, and goes down when I hit the home button.. When I get back to the game, it sets the brightness to max again. I even tried auto-brightness in display settings, but again CF overrides it.
Does anyone have an idea how to fix this issue?? Max brightness hitting me in the face at night aint the most pleasant thing to experience :-D

Disabling Browser Brightness?

This is really bugging me, is there a way to disable the browser brightness settings? Our can I make it synchronise with the main display brightness?
I don't use automatic brightness and rely on the switchpro widget on my home screen to adjust the display brightness on the fly. It's really annoying to see the monitor changing brightness when I switch between an app and the browser, or even going through the bookmarks page within the browser itself!!

It's already unticked. And I do mean the browser brightness settings inside the stock browser.

What? No one is having the same issue?
I want my screen brightness level maintained throughout various apps/homescreen/browser, is there a hack for this?

The original Galaxy S and its variant all had this "feature". I HATE IT. 3rd party browsers are too clunky and bloated, but geez. Having to change the brightness TWICE every time I want to change it really blows.
It's not that nobody else has this issue, it's that (for some reason) nobody with the skill to fix it cares to do so.
count me in as 1 of the people that is tired of having a separate brightness control. I can set my brightness way down and in the middle of the night I turn on my browser and boom! a super bright light is in my face.
Frustrating.
Of course I have the issue as all others. But it doesn't make an impact as I always on Auto Brightness
Regards.
+1
Please has anyone had any luck with this. Keep trying others and ending back with stock. Just wish it used system brightness and that it let you close a window even if it was the only one.
Anyone had joy with either?
Thanks
Another one for 'Tasker' to solve
Download 'Tasker' from the market (£3.99 I think?)
You can then create a profile so whenever you open 'internet' tasker will set the screen brightness to a setting of your choice.
Simples
(believe me this is only the tip of the iceberg with what Tasker can do)
Tasker does not have a setting for Browser Brightness.
Hi thanks for the idea, but I have been trying to find a way to do this using Tasker without any luck. Tasker already controls my Screen brightness. Far better than Auto. But the Screen Brightness and Browser Bightness are two seperate settings. I can only get Tasker to adjust the Screen one.
Still if anyone has any ideas, please. It drives me nuts when I turn over at night to check something on the web, then get blinded by a full brightness broweser on a dimmed phone.

Auto brightness sucks on this phone

hey
just this phone yesterday upgraded to 2.3.5 still the auto brightness sucks on this phone. Its always too dark for some reason.
Someone know how to fix this?
Oops, works great for me. Yes it does take around 2/3 secs to activate but it does. On KI8. Even on 2.3.3 it worked well, however it took some more response time that time.
Mine is very bad, someone know how to fix this?
It does work well in brightlight but it aint what you'd call smooth indoors.

if you have autobrightness off untick the option were you have the auto power adjuster and see what happens..that should be in the display settings at the bottom. i think if i am not mistaken if you have it ticked to adjust the brightness on each page say your browsing when you open one..so by unticking that the autobrightness stays the same for any page you go on...even by when you going iinto settings and playing a game etc etc you get the drift
mine works great
mine works great also

Flashing and flickering after ICS update

Recently I have noticed that Shadowgun T3 version and Riptide (so far that I know)
These games start flickering and flashing and when i restart them they do it again. On shadowgun the first version it seems fine.
I have tried this on all three performance settings and still happens.
Any ideas XDA world?
Nvidia always!
I've yet to try any games but I do get this sometimes when using the multitask button with ADW Launcher Ex and Tablet Talks pop up thingy

i have the exact same issue. i got my tf201 yesterday and instantly updated to ICS, so idk if there were issues like this in HC, but it happens to most of the games in the tegrazone. ill be playing for 5 minutes or less and the screen starts flashing/flickering and the game is running in the background, but the screen is frozen.
Try and disable auto brightness, then see if you still notice the flicker.
It could just be the brightness changing in a not-too-smooth fashion, which happens if they don't dim it slow enough or with enough precision (in software).
I have noticed this as well from time to time, but it goes away if I set the brightness manually, since the system no longer automatically adjusted the brightness.
do you have a live wallpaper set? i was having similar issues until i set my background to a static image.
i have had a static image because i changed it as soon as i got it and i had disabled auto brightness because i wanted it lower in order to preserve battery life, but the flickering lights with frozen image still happens.
Haven't had any issues for awhile but haven't had time to really play with it either.
Nvidia always!
I notice flickering just by tapping recent items button after using a dozen apps / webpages.

Do you guys have force gpu rendering because I did and I had the issue
Seems that reseting to factory reset worked. I reinstalled all and all seems fine
Nvidia always!
i've had the exact same issue with many games since i updated my asus tf101 to ics

Tilt sensor/accelerometer issues

Was really excited to see Tomb runner in play store but after downloading was unplayable cause the tilt sensor doesn't seem to work in the game, seems fine on home screen etc.... anyone else having this problem or found any workarounds?
Hmmm.. does it work elsewhere for your tablet? Tombrunner works fine, with tilt, on mine.
its fine in other apps, which build of the os are u on? Settings-About tablet-Build number... Mines B016 at the end...
Did you try to uninstall and reinstall? It worked for me
Tried everything, reinstall, reset tablet but no joy... Im gonna try the ICS beta ROM.

Absolutely worth the upgrade and I cannot recommend it more highly. I just updated to ICS b08 last night (from 006) and it continues to be a significant upgrade in the little things. Screen seems more responsive, performance better to the eye, and so on. Absolutely worth it, regardless of tomb runner. 8)
It's working great on ICS 08 rom. But playing something like angry birds and tip off basketball is harder than it should be because the touchscreen filtering algorithm either non existent or were set to a very low number so you can't have a steady touch (try to just touch the screen in the browser and it's shaking... Or just activate pointer location in developer options to visually see the touches). Despite this problem, I still think that this rom is better than the hc ones.

i red it somewhere on web and when happened it to me it worked.
Solution:
1. turn off screen tilt function
2. turn off auto screen brightness
3. turn on screen tilt function
4. turn on auto screen brightness
weird? try it

Home screen / auto rotate use orientation sensor. Games use accelerometer. If you or anyone else having accelerometer issue, try disabling compatible coordinate mode in setting - developer options.
As for me otherwise - enabling compatible options.

Screen brightness in stock video player

Hi guys, I got my sgs3 within the first 1/2 hour of its official launch and I had been playing around with for the past few hours.
Does anyone notice that the screen automatically dim when watching a video on the stock player? I have already eat the brightness setting to max under manual in the display settings. The stock player has no options or settings to disable auto brightness. Is there any way to work around this?

yes where the screen brightness setting is in settings theres another setting below which says auto adjust backlight power or something untick that

I don't think I have that. =[ I'm on stock 4.0.4 ICS Rom.

Same problem here. Tried that same setting too doesnt help..
The video player has a separate setting for brightness. Go to setting from within the video player to change it.
I did something silly on my SSGII - the controls for brightness in the settings menu were extremely sluggish, so I managed to disable auto-brightness and set it to 0 - this somehow now also disables all input buttons, so as soon as playback starts, the display goes black.
I can only get control back by pushing the powerbutton twice (to 'turn off display' and 'turn on display' again), slide the lockscreen out of the way and as quickly as possible push the back-button before the display goes black again..
This thread is the closest I've been able to locate with respect to the stock player in the stock ROM on a Samsung.
Would anyone know if there's a settings-file somewhere I can edit or delete to get my player back?
Samsung Galaxy SII - ICS 4.0.3 kernel 3.0.15-I9100XWLP7-CL340913
Cheers!
