Hi, i had a few games that did not work for me. I loaded a few of them up and they required long patch downloads after. Well, after that either they did not work at all or the screen resolution was way off, so i just pressed clear, and uninstall.
When i uninstall do i just click "uninstall" or press "clear data" first. I don't want those unused downloads on my drive.
Nevermind, figured it out with file expert. There was over 1.5 gb downloaded data stored in a folder.

Is there a way to manually remove a market link? I've uninstalled this app and it shows in my App list as available for download. I've tried the Titanium backup method, but it doesn't remove the app from the list. Are there other applications that can modify what shows up in your app list or am I just stuck looking at it on the top of my apps every time I look at it for updates?
Interesting. Mine is uninstalled too but I don't have that problem. Use a file explorer to try and find the apk and see if it is still in /data/app or elsewhere. Another thing I might try is clearing the data for market.
Used a file explorer, I couldn't find any trace of the app. Could you explain the clearing of market data please? I tried clearing the cache for it in the /data/data folder and in the settings menu as well and it still shows.
Thanks for the quick reply.
Did you try rebooting after removing? That should help remove it.

Of course. It's just unusual since it wasn't like this on my Hero. I was able to uninstall it on my hero without it showing up in my market app list. I've attached a screenshot of how it looks when I open the 'my apps' list. Probably not very helpful, but it at least describes the dilemma. Running Stock ROM with revolutionary root.

Well go to settings>applications>manage applications, then go to the "all" tab and scroll down to Market, and click "Clear data" and "clear cache." I'm not sure this will work but it might.
The "Clear Data" option is greyed out sadly. I have cleared the cache before many times.

Interesting. Mine is not greyed out. Here's one more thing you can try:
Using a root explorer or adb (if you don't know adb and want to, ask me, it's a good thing to know) 1. Delete Phonesky.apk from /system/app/ and reboot to clear the data. 2. put my attached copy of the newer market into /system/app and reboot again.
replace with this Phonesky.apk
Removed old market, rebooted, and installed new market. Moved to the bottom of the list now at least, but it still shows up.

Very weird. I'm out of ideas. Sorry :/
Try this
Go into settings/privacy and uncheck "backup my settings" and uncheck "automatic restore". Then boot into recovery and wipe cache and davlik cache then reboot and see if that helps. Also when you used root explorer did you set the market app permissions correctly???

Tried the first two suggestions after your post, still there. Could you explain the permissions part please. I use estrongs for exploring the root.

When using root explorer to place an app in /system you have to long press on the app and a menu will appear. From that menu select permission. Then change them according to the system folder permissions. To find out the system permissions just long press on any system app and select permissions then make a note of the checked boxes. Then go back to your app "the one you added" and long press on it and select permissions and check the boxes exactly as the other system app were. Then reboot. Hope that helps

As far as using estrongs file manger to place apps in system I'm not sure as I don't use it. However root explorer is a great app you should check it out.

Thanks for the info. It has the same permissions as the other system apps. Google gave an interesting suggestion to clear the download manager's data, but that didn't work either.
Then I'd suggest a full wipe after a backup of your data of course. That should fix your issue.

My NT is using indirect's root and I had the stock apps removed. Every time I reboot, pandora, netflix, and hulu plus always show back up after I uninstall them. Any clue why they come back after a reboot? My netflix app always asks for an update and I have two copies of pandora on there.
you have to first go to root--->system---->app find the app and delete.
then uninstall
then reboot
(may need to change permissions to delete the crap)
I had this same issue, and one of the best ways to prevent it is before trying to delete/uninstall theme, is to go into the stock app manager and archive everything, this unregistered the flag that says they should be there on the device at all from B&N's perspective, and ensures they won't just suddenly appear again. I had the same issue with Netflix continually reverting to B&N's version instead of the newest version.

i'm not seeing a system folder in root... do i need to use a specific app to change permissions? i've already gone through several folders on the nook and on the memory card trying to track the apps down and can't find anything...

how do you archive everything? by the stock app manager i'm assuming you mean the menu where it lists all your apps...
market--->es file explorer
install
open---->top right( star for favs) click. THen select the phone object thing. (/) is under mine
root will open up
click system(should be before vendor folder)
click on App folder(before Bin folder)
select app---> change permissions so you can delete
after delete uninstall that app(which you deleted)
reboot and it should be gone

netflix was the only one i saw in the folder, but i uninstalled them all from within es and now they aren't coming back after reboot. thanks!
nevermind, **** came back. why aren't they in the folder you said and why is netflix still coming back after i deleted it?
honestly, that makes no sense. please post a picture on image shack or something and link it so we can see
I ran the HTC bootloader unlock last night, and now the gallery app doesn't see any of the photos that were in my dcim photos folder before I ran it. It sees any new photo I take, but but not any of the old ones in the same folder. I've remounted the sdcard and power cycled the phone with no luck. Any thoughts?

Not sure what you mean by that, so no, but they show up correctly in es file explorer (if that helps). How would I be able to find out if I need to fix permissions? It's probably also worth mentioning that other image apps, like quickpik, have no problem seeing all of the photos in that folder.
Thanks
Well if other apps see them, then the permissions may be fine.
have you tried clearing the cache through the Apps menu for Gallery?

I have - not only that, I've moved some pictures into a temporary folder to see if it would see them in a different folder, and it did. I've moved them back to the regular folder, and it still sees them in the new folder I created. I've even deleted that new folder completely, but it still sees all of those photos in this now non-existant folder.
What the hell? How do you get the gallery app to refresh properly?
Edit - and now it's duplicating gallerries. WTH? Is there any way to reinstall the stock gallery?
Here's what I did. Presumably this will fix all sorts of gallery issues.
1 - install SDrescan from the play store. This is the fourth sdcard rescanner I've tried to use to fix this, and the only one that worked correctly
2 - in app manager, stop the "Gallery" app, and clear data and cache
3 - in app manager clear data for the "Media Storage" app
4 - run the SDrescan app from step 1, wait for it to finish
5 - wait a few minutes, reboot, wait some more, and the gallery should be correct.
OK, so this problem came up today in the middle of trying to find a working move to SD app. Basically, on the play store, it gives me a message for a few apps that there is "insufficient space available." (it will download it first, then give me the error trying to install) and I get the same message trying to remote install from a computer. If I try downloading from the Playstore as an APK file and side loading I get an error:
Out of Space
____ couldn't be installed. Free up some space and try again.
This doesn't happen to all apps. Just most apps which require a root. It's behaving strangely like a virus, so I am worried that Verizon had some additional programs on the device to make it more difficult to do anything with it.
Of course, I have 22.35 GB available internal and 109 GB available external. I cleared the cache, I uninstalled and reinstalled Google Play, I power cycled the device (turned off and on), and I am not really sure what I can do about it.
If I backup the DRM keys, flash a custom ROM, and then delete the Verizon apps, can I flash to a custom ROM that isn't branded by Verizon and still restore the DRM keys to it?
EDIT: It's gotten much worse. Most apps I try now won't install. They will download just fine, but then at the "Install" point they give that error.
EDIT 2: Problem resolved. It was caused by all of the failed rooting attempts. Titanium Backup/Restore and a Factory Reset with only Easy Root fixed everything.
Hello. I'm not very experienced with android and recently got a new z ultra (6802). I think it came with 4.4.2 or 4.4.3 i'm not sure, but as soon as i turned it on i was notified to update to 4.4.4. All went well and one of the first apps i installed was clean master. I hadnt tried to root the phone and i was thinking about it mostly in order to get rid of some preinstalled apps, but i found out that clean master had an option to "deactivate" them so they disappeared and all was fine. The last few weeks i loaded the phone with all sorts of useless stuff i wanted to try, and today i tried rooting it using this tool and everything worked ok. Then i did a hard reset and started setting everything up again... But this time clean master, root app delete and 2 other apps of the same type wouldnt uninstall system apps (despite having root access now). Any ideas on what to do? Is it because of the root - should i try to unroot it? Where can i find these ftfs needed? I saw some in the forum but they are for 6833..

Well, clean master is one of the app I hate most. Killing app processes frequently and clearing app caches are the bad ideas for android devices because android system always try to restart apps everytime you kill. So it greatly reduces battery life. Clearing caches can make apps to start slowly.
That's not the point, right? But just a suggestion not to use task killers and cache cleaner if you have enough RAM and storage space.
Ok now for your problem not uninstalling system apps,
-Install ES File Explorer
-Tap the upper left of the app (three striped shape)
-Tap Tools, Tap Root Explorer (not on the button "On") giving/allowing/authorize root access
-Now Tap Mount R/W and choose every partition as R/W then Tap OK
-Let's get back to explorer, Tap the upper left box labelled as "/" (it will redirect you to root of the Device)
-Go to "system" folder in explorer
-There are two folders in Kitkat, namely "app" and "priv-app"
You can now choose apps to be uninstalled that you couldn't uninstall inside these folders by removing any apps (and .odex files) by Long pressing on apps and choose multi apps at once.
For me, I don't delete apps that I wanted to uninstall but I cut them and create a new folder on sd card and paste them all in that new folder for later needs (you can navigate to internal or external storage from the upper right box of the Explorer, to create new folder, tap on the button with "+" sign at the bottom left corner of the app). Don't delete apps that you don't know well because doing so can prevent your device from booting up.
P.S. You can also install apps as system ones in that reverse way (copy, paste from external to system/app). Remember not to include space in the name of the app you wanted to install as system.
Remember to restart the devices after moving/deleting apps.
I think you now understand how to do. Good Luck, mate.
Thanks for taking the time to help! and es file explorer looks like a really nice app. i followed your instructions and moved some of the apk and matching odex to sd card. the problem is the apps didnt dissapear from the list and as soon as i was done play store was downloading new versions of the apps i moved... what i dont understand is why it worked in the first place when it was new! could it be the sony firmware it came with? since this failed, is there an app to freeze these things?

One thing I left to say that you must restart your device as soon as you finish moving/deleting system apps. After rebooting, the device system will delete app leftovers. It will solve your problem of not disappearing from the list.
